Prologue

Detrot

Detrot... Infamous for having the highest percent in criminal activity. In this cesspool of crime, gangs run rampant and terrorize the innocent ponies. Princess Celestia should have wiped out the criminals in one fell swoop of justice a long time ago. However, she has never been told exactly how bad the problem was. Despite the joke of every other city in Equestria saying that at least they're not Detrot, she never quite caught on.

It is on this night that one such street gang is prowling the streets. This gang is composed of both young mares, fillies, colts and stallions. Their colors are blood red with their flag being three blood droplets, the center droplet being bigger than the other two. They are known as the Grove Street Bloods. Hailing from the only cul-de-sac on Grove Street. Despite all Bloods prowling for innocent ponies to rob, rape, or even injure, there are two ponies trying to make a late night drug delivery to a nearby warehouse where another gang ,that the Bloods have an uneasy truce with, lives.

“Come on ,Supernova!” A gamboge pegasus colt with a sapphire blue mane and tail said. His flank is adorned with a sapphire blue shield behind a yellow lightning bolt. The colt looked behind him to see a white unicorn colt with an apricot colored mane and tail. A pair of black rimmed glasses covered his face and his cutie mark being a nebula. The white colt being younger and smaller than the pegasus by only a year apart. The two became friends in school even though they were polar opposites-one a jock and the other one possessed the smarts.

Normally, the opposites would clash; however, these two actually became friends when bullies picked on Supernova. The pegasus stood up and defended him, even at the cost of his own reputation. Though, he never lost his reputation. Instead, the two colts became the best of friends and the bullies never picked on the pegasus colt again. Yet, it wasn’t until recently that the pegasus revealed why they never been subject to revenge. The pegasus may be a star athlete, but he never revealed that he is a member of the Grove Street Bloods.

The unicorn was nervous about the friendship, but the pegasus told him “It'll be okay.”, and he asked Supernova to join the Bloods. Supernova was hesitant, but trusted his new friend. He survived the Jump In, where the other Bloods jumped and beat him for five minutes, with only minor injuries. The Bloods were known for being lenient with their Jump Ins and Jump Outs. They used only their fists to pummel the 'youngblood'. Other gangs have been known to be ruthless or even lethal with their ceremonies. The ponies in the Bloods aren't that cruel.

“I'm coming Flash!” Supernova replied. Flash Sentry rolled his eyes and shook his head. Supernova was being Supernova. The unicorn is the most cowardly of the Bloods. His interests are in science especially meteorology, physics, and astronomy. He lives on the east side of Detrot where the middle and upper classes are living. His father is a rich lawyer and lives in the largest mansion on the east side. Flash’s family didn’t have much money. He lives on the west side like all of the other poor and lower class ponies do. Though, he doesn't live on Grove Street, that didn't stop him from joining their ranks a year ago. Flash is currently of the rank sergeant in the Bloods. He earned his rank a year ago. If he and Supernova did a great job on the most important drug delivery, they both could get a promotion within the gang.

Flash’s job within the gang as a sergeant was to help the Youngbloods or Privates get used to the gang activity. Tell the laws of the gang, help them with weapons training, and generally get them ready for their new role in the gang.

As soon as the two colts neared their destination with the 'goods' in their saddlebags, they saw the Clover Street Blue Bloods standing guard of the warehouse. It was do or die time, and if the two weren't careful, they would be dead before the drugs could be officially delivered to the leader. Both colts walk up to the guards who then open the doors to the warehouse.

Yet, hiding in the shadows, was a pegasus stallion. Not Supernova, not Flash Sentry, and not even the Blue Bloods saw this pony. The stallion pulled out a radio and spoke something in a whisper. A voice responded on the other end confirming whatever was spoken.

“Let me see the stuff, motherbucker!” Slate Stone, the son of Advanced Technological Mechanics, said to Flash Sentry. Flash and Supernova unloaded their saddlebags and took a few steps back to allow Slate space. He opened the bag and instead of seeing bags of cocaine he finds something slightly less appealing.

KABOOM!”

The two pairs of saddle bags exploded, releasing clouds of tear gas. No pony could even react as all were crying from the effects of the gas. Soon the stallion watching from the shadows arrived and with him the sounds of a dozen police sirens. Flash wiped tears out of his eyes as he eyed the stallion. He could barely recognize him with new tears forming. He was the lieutenant of the Bloods.

“Swift!? What the buck are you doing here!? This is supposed to be my mission!” Flash exclaimed, and then he saw Swift's pull out his Detrot Police Department detective's badge. Then Flash knew that there was a narc in the gang's organization. From the shining glory of Swift’s badge, his real name was revealed-Great Justice.

“You all are under arrest for distributing illegal narcotics with the intent to sell.” Justice stated in an authority fashion. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. If you want to talk without an attorney present you can, until you choose to require an attorney present. Do you understand these rights as I've told you?”

“I do...” Flash said with a hint of anger in his voice. He could barely believe it as he is handcuffed from behind by an officer of the law. Swift has clearly infiltrated the gang five years ago and has been building his case to bring down two gangs at the same time.

Flash Sentry sat in the large holding cell with his fellow Bloods and the Blue Bloods. Supernova sat directly on his right side. Tears being shed as the young colt's life and dreams are forever over. Every one of them sat in total silence. Some were regretting their life choices that got them there in the first place. Others, like Blood Bath-the leader of the Groves, were angry at this betrayal and wanted nothing more than to end the life of Great Justice for this act. Flash just knew he will spend most of his life in prison and he'll no longer have a normal life outside.

As they all sat and thought about their actions, the doors to the jail were heard being opened. An officer and a stallion wearing a business suit entered and stood before the door.

“Supernova! Your parents have sent you the family lawyer and made your bail!” The officer said. Once Supernova left the cell, the door was closed and locked again, leaving the remainder of the group to their thoughts.

Flash was taken into an interrogation room of the 7th Precinct of DPD. He was chained to the table to ensure he couldn’t hurt the officer interrogating him who just so happened to enter seconds later, and it was Great Justice.

“Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you and your buddies are completely screwed right now.” Justice said. “You see, the prosecutor just made a statement that ALL of you are being made an example of with the exception of little Supernova, whose parents are loaded with cash. He is being sent to a boarding school in Canterlot while you are to rot away for the mandatory twenty years sentence for all drug related crimes. Even worse is the Equestrian Judge, Blind Justice, is hearing this case. She is going to hold all of you gang bangers in the same court room and you're all going down. It's practically an open and shut case.”

“So came in here to gloat about your big victory to me?”

“Far from it kid...” Justice held up a piece of paper and a pen. “The prosecutor wants this win to send a message that no criminal is safe in Detrot. This is a revolution, Flash Sentry. The ponies of this city are mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore. But this is the key to your retribution. The prosecutor said to find one and only one gang banger from the group to show an act of mercy towards. Now, I like you. I trained you; I turned you into what you are now. So it is my fault that you’re in this situation. Now Flash, listen to me carefully. I know you want a second chance at life. I know you are angry at me for arresting you with the rest of your friends, but all you have to do is sign this confession that were only a pawn to this whole operation ,and I will make sure, no matter what, to see you get that second chance at life. Under my tutelage ,of course ,but you will have your freedom as long as you stay away from anymore gang activity.”

Justice holds out the pen in his right hand. “What do you say kid?”

Flash just merely glared at Justice before yanking the pen out of his hands. He signed his name at the bottom of the already written confession. When he was finished he slammed the pen down on the table.  Deep inside, he was glad he got a second chance.

“I'm glad we can come to this understanding.” Great Justice said with a smile.

Ten Years Later...

A twenty-four year old Flash Sentry sat on the train back to his hometown of Detrot, which is now host the host of this year’s Equestrian Games. Flash had been living with his mentor ever since his arrest years ago… being trained for a future in law enforcement. In fact, Flash Sentry recently was accepted into the Royal Guard of Equestria, but only after his final Equestrian Games next week. Flash remained in his regular school and even got a scholarship to Manehattan University, and this is where he got placed into the Equestrian Games every four years. He became a gold medal athlete when he was twenty years old. This is his second and final Equestrian Games for the Detrot Air Relay Team. As the glass ceiling age limit is twenty-five, and he is going to go into the royal guard a week afterward.

The train finally arrived at the train station. Ponies from all over Equestria ,especially Detrot, has come to the train station to welcome their hometown athletes. Once the Ponyville team got off the train, it was time for Manhatten to walk out. They did so, but when Flash's name was announced as he stepped off the train, He received the biggest and most thunderous applause out of the entire team. In fact, he received his claim to fame by out racing Cloudsdale's Spitfire in the previous Equestrian Games.

Equestrian Aeronautics and Space Agency

Supernova has grown up. He is now a twenty-three year old stallion and graduated top of his class at Canterlot University. He majored in astronomy with a minor in meteorology. He joined EASA for his lifelong career. He has been a part of seven space missions on the ground control staff already.

Currently, he is working in his laboratory. Recently, there has been a string of strange weather patterns. A tornado ravaged a farming town known as Hillshire, completely destroying homes, businesses, and farms. Fortunately, no one was killed during the incident; the weather team there was blamed for the incident until they were exonerated of any wrong doing. But, it didn't end there. Even more strange weather took place all over Equestria, especially on days that the local weather teams only had sunny skies scheduled. This year's Winter Wrap-Up was canceled when high summer temperatures did the work for them. Though, the pegasi had to go retrieve the birds down south. Princess Celestia even asked Supernova's employer for help in this crisis; however, it was Supernova who knew everything about meteorology. So, he was in his lab trying to make sense of all of the strange weather over the last few months.

Supernova sat in his computer desk chair pondering what was going on. No pony has ever seen this happen. He was lost deep in his thoughts until he heard rapid beeping from his computer. He turned to look at the screen. Hoping it was another impossible weather pattern affecting Equestria, yet he only stared at the screen in confusion when he saw the moon covering the sun in a solar eclipse. Either Luna had returned to her old ways- Nightmare Moon- or this was another strange weather pattern. Either way, thing were getting strange.

Princess Celestia threw open the doors to Luna's chambers. As usual Luna was sleeping soundly. That is until her sister woke her up.

“LUNA! What is the meaning of this!?” Celestia exclaimed.

“Uh what?  What is going on here?”

“That is what I'd like to know sister.” Celestia said. “Come with me...”

Luna and Celestia walked out on Luna's balcony. There Luna finally understood what is going on. She is terrified by the sight. Her precious moon is covering Celestia's precious sun.

“By the Goddesses... How did this happen?” Luna asked Celestia.

“Did you accidentally move the moon in your sleep?”

“No I can never use my magic while sleeping and you know this.”

“GUARDS, PLEASE BRING ME PROFESSOR SUPERNOVA IMMEDIATELY!” Celestia ordered the guards at the door. They saluted and ran off.

It is only an hour later that Supernova arrived at the palace. Celestia, in the meantime, summoned the Captain of her Guard, Shining Armor, and her niece ,Princess Cadence. All five met in the command center's war room, where all of EUP troops coordinate  war efforts. This time it is only the five of them.

“Glad you can make it here on short notice, Professor.” Celestia said.

“I must admit I was studying the cause of the solar eclipse when your guard arrived and summoned me. I hope there is something to explain the eclipse...”

“No explanation... But we managed to receive a weak transmission from somewhere past the moon. What we were able to learn, it is from some ruthless tyrant from a Crystal Empire of the planet Crystalline. He has declared war on our world and has caused the strange weather and the solar eclipse that continues to mess with our planet”

“Must be from an advanced civilization if a single imperial controlled planet can do that...” Supernova said.

“But if we can negotiate peace between our two planets. We could have everything return to normal.” Luna added.

“That is why I have summoned you two here.” Celestia said to Shining and Cadence. “My dear niece will be the diplomat to negotiate the peace treaty to their Emperor while Shining Armor and selected guards will protect you.”

“Yes Aunt Celestia...” Cadence said as Armor nodded and saluted his monarch.

“Hopefully whoever is in charge of the Crystal Empire... will be very understanding in our efforts for peace...”

Deep inside…everyone felt as if that wasn’t true.  A storm was brewing…and no one knew how to stop it.
