Jed was never known to be one of the kindest citizens of Ponyville. If anything, he was the polar opposite; even putting Discord to shame, and surprisingly, even coming close to making the Spirit of Chaos cry out of fear.

Dressed from the West, he carries weapons around town, ignoring any requests for him to remove them. He's immune to magic, so he was aware that they couldn't do anything about it.

He strikes fear into everypony's hearts; even Pinkie Pie herself never threw him a party.

Princesses Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Twilight couldn't think of any ways to send him back to his old home; even though he insists on staying.

And last of all, nopony could ever imagine why Fluttershy, of all ponies, was the one who offered him a home.
