’’So, tell me; why am I doing this again?’’ Luna had just told Discord about Mac’s request to see him. Discord wasn’t exactly being cooperative at the moment. Luna sighed and rubbed her temples.

’‘Because the stallion asked me personally and he seemed to really need your help. Celestia needs some more time to calm down from you waking her up like that.’’ Luna explained for the fourth time. Discord was really trying her patience right now by being so stubborn.

’‘Seems boring...’’ Discord rolled his eyes and stood up from Luna’s bed while stretching his wings. He really didn’t want to return to Ponyville, as that meant that he would most likely meet the Elements of Harmony. He didn’t like to admit it, but he did feel bad about turning them to stone.

’’I don’t care if you think it’s boring or not, you’re going. Case closed.’’ Luna frowned and turned away from him. Discord sighed heavily and walked slowly to Luna, who was still lying in bed. He laid down behind her and wrapped his arms around her while leaning down with his head and placing it on her cheek. Luna shuddered from his sudden touch and leaned away from him, still a little annoyed at him.

’‘I’ll go if it means that much to you...’’ Discord sighed again while rolling over onto his back, momentarily staring at the ceiling. ’‘Besides, maybe I’ll get a chance to talk with Twilight Sparkle about the whole petrification deal.’’ Discord jumped to his hooves, startling the Princess lying beside him.

’‘What’s going on?’’ Luna asked, distressed by the sudden movement of her coltfriend. Discord smiled apologetically and nuzzled her forehead before he turned around and walked towards the door. ’‘Where are you going?’’

’‘Well, I’m going to go to my room and grab my armor, and then I will leave for Ponyville.’’ He rolled his shoulders and blew a stray strand of hair from his face. Luna stared at him in silence.

’‘Discord.’’

’‘Hmm?’’

’‘Why would you need armor in a small town like Ponyville?’’ Luna cocked her head slightly to the left.

’‘Have you visited there for an extended time?’’ Discord asked nonchalantly. Luna rolled her eyes.

’‘Well... No...’’ She admitted.

’‘Then I can tell you that Ponyville is no normal little town. When I was a Draconequus, something lured me to go there and set up the Chaos Capital. Something sinister. It drew me there.’’ Discord deadpanned, completely serious. Luna was taken aback by the sudden change in his tone. ’‘And when I was there the last time, Three fillies and a scooter crashed into me, I was shot on my side by a cannon and now there’s six mares who wouldn’t mind seeing my head on a platter living in that very town.’’ Discord polished the chaos restraining necklace with his right hoof ’‘I’m just taking precautions, that’s all.’’

’‘Oh.’’ Was all Luna could say to answer him. ’‘I’ll help you put on the armor, then.’’ Luna trotted past him into the corridor and towards the door leading into his room. Discord snickered and followed her.

Inside his room, Discord opened a closet and dragged out a ponykin who was fitted with the black armor. Luna lifted the chestpiece off the ponykin with her magic as Discord put on the hoofguards. Luna inspected the arrowed circle on the middle of his chest. She had searched for a similair mark in a couple of books, but she had never found anything.

’‘Discord?’’ The spirit lifted his head and looked at her, showing her that she had his attention. ’‘What does this mark mean?’’ She motioned towards the imprint on the armor. Discord glanced back at his flank, where the same mark as the one on the chestpiece was. He exhaled slowly.

’‘It’s a symbol I used when I still ruled Equestria. It was on the flag, but after my fall, Celestia removed all history of it and burned the flags.’’ Discord sighed. ’’I called it ‘The Arrows of Chaos. The eight arrows represent all possibilities but only one of them represents the Law.’’ Discord finished task of putting on all of the hoofguards like nothing had happened, but Luna stared at the Arrows for a moment, until she shook her head and opened the clasps of the armor.

’’So... That means your cutiemark-’’ Luna was interrupted by Discord-

’’My cutiemark means that my special talent is chaos, and always will be. Like it wasn’t obvious already...’’ Discord forced a smile and chuckled dryly while closing the clasps on the chestpiece in a slow fashion.

’‘What’s wrong?’’ Luna asked carefully. Discord closed his eyes and took a deep breath through his nostrils.

’’I am.’’ Discord sighed. ’’I was born to cause chaos and destruction... But now..?’’ Discord raised his head and looked straight into Luna’s eyes. Luna flinched as the white in his eyes flashed yellow once, making his pupils dissappear momentarily. ’‘I’m just another pawn in the chessgame called Order.’’

’‘Stop it, Discord!’’ Luna scolded. ’‘You’re much more than that! You’re someone special, someone that I care for deeply! So stop talking like that, okay..?’’ Luna sniffled. Discord shook his head and walked up to Luna and nuzzled her.

’‘I’m sorry... I just... I just lost control...’’ Discord bit his lip. ’‘I have to go now, but I’ll come back as soon as I can, okay?’’ He reached out with his right hoof and turned Luna’s head to look straight into his eyes.

’‘Okay.’’ Luna smiled weakly. Discord gave her a small peck on the lips, making her giggle.

As Discord turned around and walked towards the door, he felt an familiar presence in the back of his head. He stopped in his tracks and blocked out the presence. He could deal with it later. Right now he had to go to Ponyville and... Ugh... Help a pony. Besides, he needed some time alone to think of what he would do at the Grand Galloping Gala. Without Luna knowing, of course.

-----

Big Macintosh was standing on a field just outside of town. He was sitting in the shade of a great tree, waiting for the Spirit he had requested to meet. Princess Luna had told him to wait there until Discord had reached Ponyville. He had realized that this would be the first time he would meet Discord in his pony form. He was a little nervous, to say the least.

Mac had been thinking of how Discord would be able to help. Maybe he could help by increasing his self-confidence and make him less shy? Maybe by giving him a gentle push in the right direction? His hopes weren’t that high though, as he knew that Discord was the Embodiment of Chaos. And the last time he checked, chaos wasn’t a very pleasant thing.

A sudden shadow passing quickly overhead made Big Macintosh jump slightly. He scrambled to stand up, making him stumble forwards and fall. He hit his head hard on the ground, wincing as he felt an headache rapidly approaching. A roaring laughter made Big Macintosh snap his eyes open to search for the source of the guffaw. He saw a goldish grey alicorn rolling around on the ground eight feet away from him.

His horn was something that Mac had never seen before. Instead of it being the same color as the coat of the pony, this horn was bone-white and it didn’t have the same shape as a normal unicorn horn. It was more rounded and sharper.

The pony, who Macintosh had now understood to be Discord, had a dark-grey mane which was unruly and messy. Combs were overrated anyway. Big Mac gulped as he saw the armor the Spirit was wearing. The sun was reflecting perfectly on the dark hue of the armor, and the golden trim made it even more impressive to look at.

Discord stopped rolling around on the grass and stood up, cleared his throat and wiped his eyes with his right hoof. He chuckled as Big Mac stretched his neck.

’‘You Discord?’’ Macintosh asked, still a little embarassed by his embarassing flop.

’‘Depends on who’s asking.’’ Discord rubbed his right hoof to his chest and then looked at it nonchalantly.

Big Macintosh became a little aggravated by the attitude of the pony he had just met. ’‘Mah name’s Big Macintosh an’ Ah’m the one who asked Princess Luna for help.’’

Discord grinned maniacally and trotted closer towards the tank of a pony. ’‘Well then, my good sir, I am Discord, Embodiment of Chaos, Spirit of Disharmony and the Master of The Maniacs! Nice to meet you!’’ Discord grabbed Big Macintosh’s right hoof and shook it violently. Macintosh started having second thoughts about his ‘brilliant’ idea.

’‘Ah’m just Big Macintosh...’’ Mac drawled, making Discord stare at him in a bored fashion.

’’SO!’’ Discord exclaimed, making Big Macintosh jump. At least he didn’t fall this time. ’‘Why did you need my help, and do you know that my ideas are usually not very safe?’’

Macintosh cringed. ’’Ah need your help to...’’ He whispered something incoherent.

’‘Pardon?’’ Discord lifted his left hoof to his ears, to indicate that he didn’t hear what he said.’’

’’Ah said, I need your help ta... ask... Miss Twilight on a... date...’’ Mac’s blush was visible through his coat.

Discord just stared at him with a frown. ’‘You needed my help just for... that?’’

’‘Eeyup?’’ Macintosh said, unsure of what the Spirit meant.

’’My friend...’’ Discord said in a dark tone. Mac flinched, expecting a scolding. ’’I can help with more than just a date!’’ Discord exclaimed victoriously. Mac started listening eagerly. ’’In no less than two days, it’s the annual Grand Galloping Gala in Canterlot. I will whip you into dating-shape until you have asked Twilight Sparkle.’’ Discord turned around and started walking down the path into town. Macintosh started trotting beside him.

’‘Where are we goin’?’’ Mac asked.

’’To the library, of course!’’ The Spirit said happily as he trotted a little faster than before. His armor was clanking as it bounced on his back. He heard something skid behind him. He stopped and looked back to see Big Macintosh standing still with a horrified expression on his face.

’’A-a-a-already?’’ Big Mac stuttered out, making Discord roll his eyes.

’‘Yes, ’already’. Now come on.’’

’‘Ah’m not sure ‘bout this, Discord...’’ Big Mac splayed his ears back and started walking backwards. Discord groaned and turned around, staring straight into the green eyes of the red giant.

’‘Either you come with me now, or I’ll do it for you. Make your choice.’’ Discord scowled. Big Macintosh panicked slightly by the thought of Discord asking Twilight for him.

’’...Okay.’’ Macintosh started trotting down the path again while hanging his head in defeat. Discord grinned as Mac trotted past him.

’’So...’’ Discord started conversationally. ’‘What is it that you see in Twilight Sparkle, of all ponies?’’ Big Macintosh lifted his head and looked at the sky while contemplating about what he could say about her.

’‘Well... She’s really smart and good with organizing. and she looks good.’’ Mac’s spirit rose almost immediately. ’’An’ you should see her when she’s stressed, or when she’s tryin’ ta figure somethin’ out. Ah think it’s called ’adorkable’ or sumthin’...’’ Macintosh furrowed his brow in concentration. ’‘Yeah, that was it...’’

Discord clicked his tongue and shook his head. ’‘I’ve almost always seen her stressed, panicked and even horrified. She sometimes looks like she’s about to crack from the strain.’’ Mac growled.

’‘You don’t get what Ah mean...’’ Macintosh turned his head away from the Spirit. To the workpony’s horror, they were already trotting down the street where the Library was.

’‘Well, I’m sure its nice when you see it from your perspective...’’ Discord shrugged.

’‘Darn tootin’’’. Mac made a toothy grin which made Discord shudder. Macintosh realised that Discord hadn’t given him any tips or any real help so far, and they were already by the door to the Ponyville library. ’‘Hey Discord...’’ The Spirit in question turned towards the workpony. ’‘How am I supposed ta do this?’’ Discord thought about it for a while, until he grinned.

’‘Like this!’’ Discord pounded the door repeatedly and shot up onto a branch, hiding himself from everypony’s view.

Big Macintosh started panicking slightly as he heard an irritated groan and the clopping of hooves on the other side of the door coming closer. ’‘Discord, Ah’m gonna kill you.’’ He thought as the door opened.
