Rarity's Unexpected Suprise

Chapter 1: The Scale Tells the Truth

An alarm clock started to buzz as light slowly filtered into a simple bedroom. The young woman in the bed gave a loud, unlady like growl. She had not been feeling well for the past few weeks. But being a lady meant that she would not keep feeling a little under the weather keep her from her obligations.

“I do wish I could sleep in.” Rarity slowly sat up and looked over at her still sleeping partner. A head with green hair was still sound asleep. She smiled and gave the head a quick peck. She sometimes wondered why Spike asked her out after years of waiting. She was only twenty-five and he just turned eighteen when he asked her out for the first time. Well, a few months past, along with a few dates before he dropped on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Spike gave a grumble before he rolled over with a sleepy grin. “Well morning, my sweetheart.” He started to make kissy faces till a pillow founds way to his face. “I guess you’re still not feeling good?” He moved the pillow to the side, pulled Rarity down and held her close as he gently moved his hand up and down her arm.

“I’m afraid so. Still not sure if it’s something I ate or if I’m coming down with something. But I’m sure I will be fine.” Rarity freed herself from the young man’s hold and stood beside the bed before she stretched. “Spike, will you be a dear and make something to eat while I’m in the shower? Please?”

Spike rolled his eyes as he got out of bed. He again pulled her toward him and held her close. He may have been a little younger than she was, but he now stood a little tall her. “I guess I could cook something for you.” He kissed her forehead. “So what would you like?”

Rarity blushed at Spike’s kiss. She wrinkled up her nose as she thought about what she wanted to eat. “Four scrambled eggs, five pancakes, two slices of toast, and half of a grapefruit.”

Spike leaned back and looked down at her. “Are you sure you’re feeling okay? That is kind of a lot.” He couldn’t hide his smile as Rarity glared up at him.

“Are you calling me fat, Spikey poo?” Rarity’s tone sent a chill down Spike’s spine. He learned many things from living with his older sister Twilight such as: don’t call a woman fat or say she has gained weight. He was now walking on thin ice. What he said next would have to be picked with the utmost care.

“I never said that. I’m just saying that is a lot for me to make.” He rubbed the back of his head as he gave a nervous chuckle. Rarity’s glare didn’t stop for a while. Spike could feel the sweat form on his forehead.

“Okay, darling. Well I’m going to go get a shower.” Rarity gave him a quick peck on the lips before she walked off. Spike stood there to watch her. Rarity always seemed to do everything with a grace that just wowed him.

Steam filled the bathroom as Rarity open the shower doors. She walked toward the sink to grap the towel. Before she wrapped the towel around herself, she whipped off the mirror to look herself over.

The scream she let out could be heard all over the town. It wasn’t long before Spike burst into the bathroom to find Rarity wrapped in a towel. She looked over at Spike before she pushed him out of the way as she rushed into their bedroom. The door slammed shut behind her.

Spike walked to the door of the room and gave the door a gentle knock. “Sweetheart, are you okay? What happened in the bathroom?” His voice was just loud enough to be heard through the door. He pressed his ear to the door to hear her reply.

“Just go away. There is nothing to worry about. I just need to put on some clothes.” Rarity’s voice was a little shaky.

Spike gave sigh. “Okay, breakfast should be ready for when you come out.” He turn and want back to cooking.

Rarity looked down at her belly and felt like she was about to start crying. She couldn’t believe what she found when she looked in the mirror back in the bathroom. Her belly had started to lose the slim tone look she had worked so hard to get.

“How could this have happen? I’ve been keeping to my diet and working out each weekend.” She gave her belly a poke. It was a little soft, but there was something firm under the soft layer. Rarity gave a sigh before she started to pull out her workout outfit. It was Saturday and that meant that it was her day to work with Pinkie and Rainbow.

Once she got workout top and shorts on, she gave herself a once over and was happy to see that the top hid the pudgy belly she now had. The belly made its needs known when it let out a loud growl.

“You may have won this time stomach,” Rarity growled back at her belly. “But I will make you slim soon.” Her belly made another growl. Rarity walked out to the dining room to find everything she asked for set out on the table.

“I hope everything is the way you like it.” Spike smiled as he finished setting up her plate. He made her pancakes to look like hearts. Rarity placed her hands over her mouth as a gasp escaped.

She rushed over to Spike and wrapped her arms around him as tight as she could. Rarity looked up at him and gave him a light kiss on his lips. He smiled and kissed her back. “Spiky, have I ever told you how much I love?”

Spike chucked and helped Rarity to her seat. “You don’t have to say the words, for I know it in my heart.” He gave a cheesy smile as she tried not to giggle.

“How many of my romance novels have you read?”

“A few. What do you expect me to do while you are out on one of your spa dates with Fluttershy?” Spike moved to the other side of the table and took his seat. Rarity let out a sigh before she started to cut up her pancakes.

“I understand, Spike. Next time let me pick the good ones for you to read. I don’t want my Spiky-poo to read any of the trashy ones.” Rarity took a bit of the pancakes and let out a happy little murr as she got a second piece ready. As soon as the first piece was finish, the second was in her mouth.

“I’m glad that my cooking is to your liking.” Spike smiled as he began to eat what was in front of him. He took a few bites of his food. After a few more bites, he looked up and seen that Rarity had finished what was on her plate.

“Thank you, Spike. The meal was fantastic,” Rarity walked around the gave Spike a light kiss on the forehead. “I must be going now. Today is my workout with Pinkie and Rainbow.”

Spike smiled and pulled her down and gave her a kiss on the lips. “Okay, I being heading out to Twilight’s later. It’s reshelving day at the library and we both know it would take her till the next reshelving day to finish without some help.” She nodded as she walked to gather her purse and keys.

“Oh, please tell her that I will bring back that book next week. I’m just about finished it. And tell her thank you as well. It’s a very good book.” Rarity gave Spike a wave before she disappeared out the door.

Spike gave a sigh as he turn back to his food. “She is something else. I swear that she was glowing.”

The Ponyville gym was a two floors of treadmills and other workout equipment. The back had a runners track for those who didn’t want to run in place. And this was the place where Pinkie, Rainbow, and Rarity worked out every other week.

“Where in the world is she?” A Rainbow Dash grumbled as she paced near the front door of the gym.

“Don’t worry, Dashy. She just had a large breakfast and a good scare before that.” Pinkie Pie grinned as she bounced around.

Rainbow turn to look at Pinkie and was about to say something when someone rushed over to them from the parking lot.

“I’m sorry I’m late. Spike made me breakfast and…” Rarity’s face started to turn a little red. “Well I kind of asked for a lot.”

Rainbow’s jaw dropped as she looked back to Pinkie. “How did you know that?”

Pinkie’s smiled as she bounced between and pulled them close to her. “I just do.” Both Rainbow and Rarity sighed. They both just chalked it up to Pinkie being Pinkie.

“Well if you girls are ready. I would like to workout some. I really do.” Rarity managed to free herself from Pinkie and started to make her way to the front door.

“I bet you do. You are starting to look soft like a marshmallow,” Rainbow laughed as she gave Rarity a poke to her side. “But dang you are still firm.” Pinkie came up next to Rainbow and gave Rarity a poke herself.

“Would you two please stop poking my sides?” Rarity swatted their hands. Pinkie giggled and grabbed Rainbow’s hand and made her poke her.

“Dashy, do you think I’m firmer than marshmallow here?” Pinkie jabbed her thumb at Rarity. Rainbow sighed and loop her arm around Pinkie. Pinkie gave a meep as Rainbow pulled her into a deep kiss.

“I think it is very sweet how loving you two are, but we did come here to workout?” Rarity had her hands on her hips as the two others looked over at her, both their faces was a very bright red.

After the little show in front of the guy, they made their way inside and waiting for them at the front desk was the owner and their personal trainer, Iron Will. After what happen with Fluttershy, he gave up the seminar and chose to open a gym.

“Welcome back, ladies. Are we ready for the weigh in?” Iron Will smiled and motioned with his arms for them to walk to the private workout area. This was the part Rarity really didn’t like. Her weight was her own business. Still she and the other two followed him.

“I bet lost a few pounds since the last time.” Rainbow declared with pride.

“We will see about that Miss. Dash. No one is perfect and slip ups can happen.” Iron Will gave a chuckle and held the door to the weighing room. It was a small room with a few scales and some mirrors.

First on the scale was Pinkie pie. This was one of the few times Pinkie would stand still for longer than a second. Iron Will declared her weight for everyone to hear. She weighed in at 130 pounds. For a woman who ate as much sweets as she did, she was thin. After her was Rainbow Dash and when her weight was called out. No one was surprised at the number. She was a whole 98 pounds.

“Ms. Rarity, please step on the scale.” Iron Will motioned for Rarity to get on the scale. Rarity wasn’t really ready for everyone to find out that she had put on some weight since the last time. She took a deep breath before took the first step on the scale. Rainbow stood next to her and grinned when she seen the number.

“Dang, Rarity. I knew you were going marshmallow on us, but I didn’t think it would be this bad.” Rainbow folded her arms as Rarity looked down at the number and let out a loud gasp. Iron Will walked over and looked at the number.

He looked between the number on the scale and his paper work on Rarity. Iron Will turn to Rainbow and a now giggling Pinkie. “If you ladies don’t mind, could you two head on to the workout room while I have a talk with Ms. Rarity?” Pinkie and Rainbow nodded as they left the room.

Iron Will walked over to some chairs used when there was a large group of people waiting for the few scales. He patted the seat near him for Rarity to sit. Rarity took the seat offer to her. “I just got to ask you a few questions. Nothing to worry about. It’s just that your your weight has been slowly gone up in the past few weeks.”

“I am really sorry about that. I don’t know why I keep gaining weight for.” Rarity looked down and sighed. She really didn’t like the fact that she had worked her butt off for months and for a while had a hot tone body to show off to her husband. But know she that figure was started to faded.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. You are not the first or the last that has hit this rough patch before. Let’s get started on the questions so we can both figure out the best way for you to regain your desired weight again,” Iron Will took a deep breath as he started his question. “Have you been taking medication?”

“No, just been taken those vitamins you told us to try.”

“Okay, good. Those help with fill the needs of a healthy body,” Iron Will nodded and took some notes before he moved on the the next question. “Has your diet change over the course over the last few weeks?”

Rarity placed a finger to her chin as she thought about all the things she had eaten over the past few weeks. “Well, I have been eating a little more than usual and had a grapefruit this morning. And normally hate grapefruit.”

Iron Will nodded his head again as he took down some more notes. “Any other odd cravings?” This got Rarity to think more about the stuff she had asked Spike to cook for her.

“I have had the craving for pistachio pudding. I mean a lot of it,” Rarity’s face turned a little red.

“Just one more question. Have you been feeling ill late at night or early in the morning?”

“I have. I just chalked it up to a bug floating around,” Rarity watched as Iron Will took some more notes. “May I ask why you are taking such detailed notes for?”

“Oh, these. Well they help if I find something a doctor needs to know. This way, it saves them time and keeps me safe if I do find something that merits a doctor getting involved,” Iron Will placed the papers down. “So for my last question. Have any of those times you have felt ill, have you ever thrown-up?”

“I have, but like I said before. It might just be one of those bugs going around.” Rarity waited as Iron Will looked over the notes he had taken. She didn’t really understand how the last few questions dealt with her weight gain.

“Well Ms. Rarity, like I said before. You are not the first or the last,” Iron Will paused as he thought of good way to put what he had to say next. “I wish I had a better way to put this, but I think you may be pregnant. I have the test sticks to verify, but things look that way.”

Rarity looked at him with a blank stare. The world went blank when he said that she might be pregnant. She heard a snapping sound and she blinked a few times to see that Iron Will snap his fingers again.

“I’m sorry. I think I would like to take one of those test.” Rarity felt shaky as she tried to get up. She looked up when she felt a hand on her shoulder and arm helping her up.

“Sure thing. Just walk out to counter and ask for ‘test’. They will know what you mean,” Iron Will helped Rarity to the door and opened it for her. “I’m going to get the other two started on their workout in the mean time. I will be at the front desk when you finished.” He gave her a warm smile before he went down a hallway to meet up with Rainbow and Pinkie.

Time just passed by as Rarity got the test and made her way to the restroom. She followed the instructions and now seat in the a stall. Thirty minutes to most is not a lot of time to wait for something, but when you are waiting to see if your whole life is about to change. That thirty minutes is a life time.

Her eyes never left the test strip. Rarity closed her eyes as the time to check the test came. She didn’t want to see what it said. How would Spike feel about being a father? Where they ready to have a kid? All these thoughts rushed through her mind.

“Here goes nothing.” Rarity whispered to herself as she open eyes to look at the test. What she saw caused her to drop the strip. Life for her and Spike was now changed forever. The test strip was easy to read. If it had a little plus sign, it meant she was pregnant. But if it had a little minus sign, it meant that she wasn’t. What Rarity saw was a little plus sign.

She didn’t leave the stall for some time after reading the results. Once Rarity left the stall what happened next was just a blur to her. She told Iron will what the test said and he told her to head on home and that he would tell Rainbow and Pinkie that she wasn’t feeling well and went home.

On the way to her car, Rarity sent Spike a text message asking him to get home as soon as he can so they can have a talk. The drive home took as long as it took the test strip to tell her if she was pregnant. Rarity made it back to their house before Spike. The wait for him wasn’t long, he burst through the door.

“Rarity, what happened?” Spike had the look of panic written all over his face. Rarity rushed over to him and wrapped her arms around him. He looked down at her and pulled her close. “Are you okay?”

“Spike, you are going to be a father.” Tears trailed down Rarity’s face as she buried it into Spike’s shirt. He said nothing for awhile as the news set in, but soon Spike pulled Rarity even closer and he placed his forehead on top of her head.

“Why are you crying, love?” Spike loosen his hold on Rarity so she could look up at him.

“I’m scared, Spiky. Our lives are going to change.” Tears keep ran down her face still.

“So, it will change. That was going to happen at some point anyway. And plus I’m here with you, so don’t be scared.” Spike smiled and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips to pause anything she was about to say. After a while she freed herself.

“I’m going to get so fat.” Rarity gave a fake whine. Spike laughed as he kissed away the last of the tears that rolled down her face.

“Nope, you’re just going to be my hot sexy pregnant wife.” He grinned as he picked up Rarity and started to carry her to their bedroom.

“Spiky, put me down.” Rarity giggled as she playfully beat on Spike’s back. The door closed behind them. Life for the two of them was going to change and nothing was going to stop it. But they wouldn’t have any other way.
