Alright, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind me telling you. They’ve got to give the U.N. Special Forces Commander and U.N. Representative some jurisdiction over her own troops. Besides, what are they going to do, kill me? We know they’re not like that.
I just came back from scavenging an ancient tomb of some god or something.
I’m telling you Megan, we are sitting on a gold mine. The missions the Unknown are sending my flight group on have been amazing. This was our least productive mission and we still turned up an ancient book on cursed items.
You know that sword “Sir Colbert” used, Azrael “The Immortal Slayer?” Yeah, it definitely was a cursed blade. Any wound created by that sword could not be healed magically. And given how dangerous a sword wound is you’re pretty much screwed if you get cut. It was also unbreakable and could cut through metal as if it was paper. Colbert used it to cut through other legendary blades. All Colbert did was make the sword even more powerful.
There are tons of items like that. Just imagine what a collector must be willing to pay.
You know what, forget about profit. The history is amazing. Stratos didn’t even scratch the surface of what there is. If you haven’t heard of the Athereal Knights by now you soon will. These guys were badass. I’ve found an absurd amount of stuff referring to them.
Let me let you in on them. The legends might be exaggerated but this was a group of possibly immortal humans and something called Diamond Wolves. They were led by a physical god called Helios who was incidentally the leader of these Diamond Wolves. They were like Equestria’s elite special ops shock troopers. They constantly messed up Krastos and its followers like you wouldn’t believe.
When Krastos did its last major assault hundreds years ago these guys turned the tide of battle in two minutes. Somewhere between one hundred and one thousand of them easily crushed an invading force of over one hundred thousand led by Krastos. Even a modern military couldn’t do that. If that isn’t badass I don’t know what is.
While they are my favorite, this is just one group. There are dozens of legendary groups like them. Not to mention all of the notable individuals.
I already mentioned Helios. Seems like Equestria owes a lot to him.
And this guy Endewize. Seriously, unbelievable genius. He made hundreds of magical artifacts and systems of civilization. He cured almost every disease without magic. Not much of a fighter but he’s a tactical genius in battle.
I haven’t even touched all of the pony stuff. That would take forever. Suffice to say, Starswirl the Bearded wasn’t the only great mage or warrior in history. Some might call him the greatest but I’d have to disagree.
There were a ton of legends in this nation’s past. There used to be gods and immortals all over the place. You got to wonder what happened to all of these guys and why no one’s head of them.
Maybe they just disappeared when they were no longer needed. Or maybe they are still around in hiding. Whatever. They left a ton behind to look at. We could literally be digging up this world’s version of Greek Civilization. You can just imagine how important this could be for them.
If Equestria is this developed and populated but is still littered with forbidden areas, ruins, and abandoned structures just imagine what the rest of this world must be like.
I know as a “U.N. forces representative” I’m supposed to focus on keeping the peace and leave the profiteering to Armor Incorporated but screw that. Forget all of that research with magic. You can go dungeon crawling and come back with mountains of loot and records.
Yes it is somewhat dangerous and the pegasi are proving to be both remarkably good fliers and remarkably pathetic fighters but me, my soldiers, and our flight suits can handle anything thrown at us. Hell to get that book we had to fight an immortal that couldn’t be killed by normal attacks. I just used my new abilities and took it out myself.
I’ve killed three of these absolute immortals. These dark creatures of Krastos and its followers are nothing. I’m used to fighting robots, vehicles, and super soldiers. Monsters, minions, constructs, and demons are just another blip on the radar. As long as we are prepared for a fight, these things are not dangerous to us. Our armor, weapons, skill, and technology more than give us the edge.
If we reveal ourselves we should immediately hire out our services as explorer escorts. I’m already thinking about becoming an archeologist.
