It was a snowy day in Equestria, and Rainbow Blitz had just became a proud father of a little colt. He had a moderate cerise mane, grayish purple eyes, no cutie mark, and a red nose. "Nah, we'll call him Scooteroll." Rainbow Blitz said thinking about his son's name. "Scooteroll is a lovely name." Rainbow Dash said. "Scoo-ter-roll." Scooteroll said trying to pronounce his name. "Hey, hey!" Rainbow Blitz said with a smile. "He knows his name already!" "Ma-ma." Scooteroll said looking at Rainbow Dash. He looked at Rainbow Blitz and said "Pa-pa." Suddenly, his red nose started flashing and glowing. "He's got a shiny nose!" Rainbow Dash said in shock. "Shiny?" Rainbow Blitz asked. "I'd even say it glows!" Scooteroll's nose flashed a couple of times. "Well, we'll simply have to overlook it." Rainbow Dash said. "How can you overlook that?!" Rainbow Blitz asked. "His beak blinks like a blinking beacon!"

"Hello there." A voice said, and the parents both turned to see an alicorn with a moderate sapphire blue mane & tail with a grayish perisan blue aura surrounding that acts like a flame, moderate cyran eyes, and a crescent moon on a dark purple background for her cutie mark named Princess Luna who delivers presents to fillies and colts every year on Heart Warmths Eve. "Well, Rainbow Blitz, where's the new member of the family?" She asked. "After all, if he's going to be on my team someday, he'd better get to know me." She looked at Scooteroll, smiled, and said "Well, hi there. Aren't you a sturdy little fellow?" "Lu-na?" Princess Luna laughed a bit and said "And smart too!" She then became shocked when Scooteroll's nose flashed again. "Holy celestia!" She said. "I'm sure it'll stop when he grows up, Princess Luna." Rainbow Blitz said.

"Well let's hopes so if he wants to make the sleigh team someday." Princess Luna said. She looked at Scooteroll and said "You see, little fellow, every year I shine up my jingle bells for eight lucky pegasai ponies. I have to leave now. I'll see you real soon." As Princess Luna took her leave, Scooteroll said "Bye-bye." "Oh, Princess Luna's right." Rainbow Blitz said sadly. "He'll never make the sleigh team." Then an idea occured to him. "Wait a minute! I've got it!" Rainbow Blitz said. "We'll hide Scooteroll's nose." "Hide it?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Yeah." Rainbow Blitz said as he looked at his son. As he rolled up a fake nose and placed it on Scooteroll's red nose, he said "Come here, boy. You'll be a normal little pony just like everypony else, right? A chip off the old block." When he saw Scooteroll struggling, he said "Now, now. You'll get used to it. Put it there, son." Scooteroll snuggled into his father as he said "Aw, gee." Rainbow Dash kissed her son's cheek, and the fake nose fell off as the red nose glowed much to the dismay of his parents.

For the first year, Rainbow Blitz's family did a pretty fair job of hiding Scooteroll's red flashing nose. Rainbow Blitz taught Scooteroll all the ins and outs of being a regular pony. How to get food, how to fight off enemies, but most important of all, he taught his son to beware of Discord, the Abominable Snow Monster of the North. He's mean, he's nasty, and he hates everything to do with Heart Warmths Eve. Rainbow Blitz and Scooteroll heard Discord roaring, and they both got away from him in time. Now aside from Discord, business goes on as usual. And soon it is right before Heart Warmths Eve, and everypony was getting ready for that big, big sleigh ride on the night of the 24th which is pre-Heart Warmths Eve. In a toyshop in Canterlot, all the toys Princess Luna brings are made by the pony-elves, and it seems they have that certain knack for toy-making. All except for this one misfit who is light grey coated with a grayish mulberry mane with pale light grayish rose streaks on it, pale light grayish harlequin eyes, and no cutie mark.

"Sweetie Belle!" A unicorn pony-elf named Rarity yelled out startling her younger sister. "Aren't you finished painting that yet?" Sweetie Belle shook her head, and Rarity looked behind her sister to see a pile of unpainted wagons. "There's a pileup a mile wide behind you!" Rarity said. "What's eating you, sister?" "Not happy in my work, I guess." Sweetie Belle said. "What?!?!" Rarity asked in dismay. "I just don't like to make toys." Sweetie Belle said. "Oh, well, if that's all..." Rarity started to say, but she turned shocked, and said "WHAT?!?! You don't like to make toys?!" "No." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity looked at the unicorn pony-elf named Fancy Pants and said "Sweetie Belle doesn't like to make toys!" Fancy Pants looked at an earth pony elf named Sugar Belle, and said "Sweetie Belle doesn't like to make toys!" Sugar Belle looked at a pegasai pony-elf named Rainbowshine, and said "Sweetie Belle doesn't like to make toys!" Rainbowshine looked at an earth pony-elf named Apple Cobbler, and said "Sweetie Belle doesn't like to make toys!" "Oh, shame on you!" They all said at the same time. "Mind telling me what you do want to do?" Rarity asked. "Well, sis, someday, I'd like to be a dentist." Sweetie Belle said smiling. "A dentist?!" Rarity asked in dismay. "Well, we need one up here." Sweetie Belle said as she took out her book about dentistry. "I've been studying. It's fascinating. You have no idea. Molars and bicupids and incisors."

Rarity took the book from Sweetie Belle, put it away, and placed the unpainted wagon in front of her sister, and said "Now listen, you. You are a pony-elf, and pony-elfs make toys. Now get to work!" The bell suddenly rung to signal the pony-elfs to take a break, and Rarity said "Ten minute break!" Before Sweetie Belle could get up, Rarity stopped her, and said "Not for you! Finish the job, or you're fired!" Then all of the pony-elves walked out of the room, leaving Sweetie Belle all alone. She sighed, and took out her dentistry book. "Why am I such a misfit?" Sweetie Belle asked herself. "I am not just a nitwit, and Rarity can't fire me. I'll just quit!" She sighed, and said "It seems I don't fit in." Meanwhile at Rainbow Blitz's home, Scooteroll is having his growing pains of his own. Rainbow Blitz is determined to keep Scooteroll's nose a secret.

"All right, son." Rainbow Blitz said as he was giving Scooteroll the fake nose. "Try it on." "I don't wanna!" Scooteroll said as he red nose flashed a couple of times. "Daddy, I don't like it!" "You'll like it, and wear it!" Rainbow Blitz said firmly. "Oh, but, daddy!" Scooteroll said as his father placed the fake nose on his red glowing nose. "It's not very comfortable!" "There are more important things than comfort!" Rainbow Blitz said. "Self-respect. Princess Luna can't object to you now." Scooteroll walked out of his home, sadly. He sat down on a soft pile of snow, and took off his fake nose. "Why am I such a misfit?" Scooteroll asked himself. "I am not just a nitwit just because my nose glows." He sighed, and said "Why don't I fit in?"

And so time passes, Heart Warmths Eve comes and goes on schedule, and soon it was April, when all the new foals come out with their folks to meet other new foals, and to be inspected by Princess Luna. Rainbow Blitz looked at Scooteroll who was staring at his fake nose, and said "Now don't worry about your nose, son. Just get out there, and do your stuff. Remember, your my liitle colt." Scooteroll nodded, walked forward until he was stopped by a little colt named Snips. "Hi. My name's Snips." Snips said. "What's yours?" "Scooteroll." Scooteroll said. "You can be my buddy." Snips said. "Where are we going?" Scooteroll asked as he and Snips walked. "The pony games!" Snips said. "Makes wings grow. Besides it's a great way to show off in front of the fillies. Come on!" Scooteroll smiled, and nodded. Meanwhile, the pony-elves are bustling with activity. Heart Warmths Eve is over, but they still keep busy with lessons in pony-elf improvement.

"All out for pony-elf practice!" Rarity said as all the pony-elves gathered together. "Let's get this over with." Princess Luna said as she sat down in her chair next to her unicorn assistant named Twilight Sparkle. "I have to look over the new ponies." Rarity nodded, and said "Ok, Princess Luna." She turned to the pony-elves, and said "Let's try out the new pony-elf sone I wrote. And remember, it's for Princess Luna. And a one, and a two, and a one, two, three!" Then the pony-elves performed their song, and when they finished, Twilight Sparkle clapped, and Princess Luna said "Hmmm. Well, it needs work. I have to go now." When Princess Luna walked out the door, Twilight Sparkle said "Oh what does Princess Luna know? It's beautiful, Rarity! You keep it just the way it was." As she ran out the door, she said "Princess Luna? Princess Luna!" As soon as Twilight Sparkle left, Rarity angerly turned to Fancy Pants, and said "That sounded terrible! The tenor section was weak!" "But it wasn't our fault, Rarity!" Fancy Pants said. "Your sister didn't show up!" "WHAT?!?!?!" Rarity shouted in anger.

In the toy making room, Sweetie Belle was fixing one of doll's teeth. "Now this won't hurt a bit." Sweetie Belle said as she tap the doll's tooth with a hammer. Just then, Rarity slammed the door open, and said "Why weren't you at pony-elf practice?! "Just fixing these dolls's teeth." Sweetie Belle said. "Now listen, sister!" Rarity said feeling angry. "We have dolls that cry, talk, walk, blink, and run a temperature! We do not need any chewing dolls!" "I just thought I found a way to fit in." Sweetie Belle said sadly. Rarity shook her head, and said "You'll never fit in! And you'll never get your cutie mark!" As she walked to the door, she said "You come to practice and learn how to wiggle your ears, and chuckle warmly, and go "Hee hee" and "Ho ho", and important stuff like that!" She sighed, and said "A dentist. Good grief!" She then left the room, and slammed the door shut. Sweetie Belle sighed sadly, and said "No, I just can't! "It's like she said: I'll never fit in." She opened up a window, and climbed down the building on a vine. Once she made to the ground, she said "I guess I'm on my own now." She then began to run away.

Meanwhile at the meadow near Canterlot, Scooteroll and Snips were playing around when they spotted three fillies. "Hey look! Fillies!" There were three fillies looking at them. Two of them were two earth ponies named Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. And the third filly was a female version of himself named Scootaloo. Scootaloo looked at Scooteroll, and smiled. Snips smiled, and said "Hey, what do you know? One of them likes you!" "Yeah, Snips?" Scooteroll asked. "You really think so?" Then a loud whistle was heard. Snips looked over, and said "Uh-Uh. Here comes the coach!" Scooteroll looked at Scootaloo, and smiled. The coach named Spitfire went up to the colts, and said "All right. All right, yearlings. All right, now!" When the colts quieted down, she said "That's better. My name is Spitfire. And even though I'm your instructor, I want to be your pal. Right? Right. My job is to make stallions out of you. So, let's go," She blew on her whistle, and said "Now then, our first game is called Takeoff. We all want to pull Princess Luna's sleigh someday, don't we?" "Yes!" The colts said. "So we must learn to fly." Spitfire said. "Now who's first to try?" The colts went up to her and said "Me! Me!" Spitfire backed up a bit, and said "One at a time! One at a time!" She looked at a little colt named Featherweight, and said "You're Bulk Bicep's little colt, aren't you?"

Featherweight nodded, and Spitfire said "You go first." The other colts groaned, and Spitfire said "All right, the whole trick is getting enough speed, and jumping into the wind. You got it? Go ahead." Featherweight nodded, ran fast, and jumped, only to fall on the grass. The colts laughed, and Spitfire said "Very good...for a first try. Next!" "She won't get to us for a while." Snips said. "Now's your chance to get aquainted with that filly." Scooteroll smiled, and walked to Scootaloo. "Nice day." Scootaloo said. "Yep." Scooteroll said. "For takeoff practice, I mean." Scootaloo said. "Yep." Scooteroll said. "I bet you'll be the best." Scootaloo said. "Well, I don't know." Scooterolll said looking at the ground. "Something wrong with your nose?" Scootaloo asked. "I mean, you talk kind of funny." "What's so funny about the way I talk?" Scooteroll asked getting angry. "Don't get angry." Scootaloo said calming him down. "I don't mind." "You don't?" Scooteroll asked. Scootaloo shook her head, and said "My name's Scootaloo. Hi." "My name's Scooteroll." Scooteroll said. "Hi." "Hi." Scootaloo said. "Hey, Scootaloo." Scooteroll said. "Would you...Would you..." Before he could finish his sentence, Spitfire said "Scooteroll, you get back here! It's your turn, you know."

"Gee, I got to go back." Scooteroll said turning back. "Would you walk home with me?" "Uh-huh." Scootaloo said. "Scooteroll." She went up to his ear, and whispered. "I think your cute." Smiling, Scooteroll jumped in the air, and said "I'm cute! I'm cute!" "Magnificent!" Spitfire said. "I'm cute! I'm cute! She said I'm cute!" Scooteroll said as he took off again, wowing the other colts. Princess Luna arrived on the scene, and said "Not bad! Not bad at all!" Scooteroll landed in front of Snips who said "Hey, your ok!" "She said I'm cute!" Scooteroll said as he started playing with Snips. Suddenly, his fake nose fell off, and the red nose started flashing, and glowing. "For crying out loud!" Snips said in shock. "Snips, what's the matter?" Scooteroll asked. When he tried to get close, Snips said "Get away! Get away from me!" "Now, now, now." Spitfire said. "What's this nonsense here, colts? After all-aah!" When Scooteroll looked at Spitfire, she yelled in shock as the other colts started laughing at him. "Hey look at the beak." Snips said. "Hey, fire snout!" Featherweight said. "Rainbow puss!" A little colt named Snails said. "Red schoz!" Another colt named Button Mash said. "Blank flank!" Another colt named Clutzy Doo said. "Stop calling me names!" Scooteroll said. "Scooteroll The Red-Nosed Pony!" Button Mash said as he, and the other colts laughed at him. Princess Luna looked at Rainbow Blitz, and said "Rainbow Blitz, you should be ashamed of yourself! What a pity. He had a nice takeoff too." After Princess Luna left, Spitfire blew her whistle, and said "All right. All right now, yearlings. Back to practice." She stopped Scooteroll, and said "Oh no. Not you. You better go home with your folks. From now on little colts, we won't let Scooteroll join in any pony games." "Right! Right!" The colts said as they laughed at Scooteroll who cried, and ran off.

Scootaloo saw Scooteroll running off, and crying. She ran after him as she said "Scooteroll?! Scooteroll?! Scooteroll?!" Scooteroll stopped running, and turned to see Scootaloo. "Well, what do you want?!" He asked sadly. "You-You promised to walk me home." Scootaloo said. "Aren't you gonna laugh at my nose, and blank flank too?" Scootaroll asked. "I think it's a handsome nose." Scootaloo said. "Much better than that silly false nose you were wearing. And besides, I'm a blank flank too." She showed him her flank to prove it, and said "See?" "It's terrible!" Scooteroll said talking about his nose. "It's different from everypony else's." "But that's what makes it so grand." Scootaloo said. "Why, any filly would consider herself lucky to be with you." "Yeah?" Scooteroll asked. Scootaloo nodded as Scooteroll said "But, I wasn't very lucky today, was I? I wish..I-I wish I-." Scootaloo patted Scooteroll's head, and said "There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true. Believe in your dreams, and you can do anything you set your mind to." Scooteroll smiled, and he and Scootaloo started to walk together. But then, a unicorn named Trixie approached Scootaloo, and said "Scootaloo!" "Mama!" Scootaloo said looking at her mother. "You get back to your home this instant!" Trixie said in an angry tone. "But I-I-!" Scootaloo tried to say, but Trixie interrupted her, and said "THIS INSTANT, young mare!" Scootaloo sighed sadly and said "Yes, mama." As the young filly left, Trixie glared at Scootaroll, and said "Now there's one thing I want to make very plain. No filly of mine is going to be seen with a red-nosed, blank flank!"

After Trixie left, Scootaloo sat down near a tree, and started crying. Suddenly, he felt movement under him, and he moved out of the way to see Sweetie Belle standing up. "Oh, is this your tree?" Sweetie Belle asked. Scooteroll shook his head, and said "No. Who are you?" "I'm Sweetie Belle." Sweetie Belle said. "And I'm a dentist." "A dentist?" Scooteroll asked. "Well, I want to be someday." Sweetie Belle said. "Right now, I'm just a pony-elf. But I don't need anypony! I'm-I'm independent!" "Yeah?" Scooteroll asked. "Me too! I'm...what-whatever you said. In-de-pendent." "Hey, what do you say we both be independent together, huh?" Sweetie Belle asked. "You wouldn't mind my red nose?" Scooteroll asked as his red nose flashed. Sweetie Belle shook her head, and said "Not if you don't mind me being a dentist." Scooteroll smiled, and said "It's a deal!" As they walked together, Scooteroll said "I'm Scooteroll, by the way. And I don't have a cutie mark." Sweetie Belle smiled, and said "I'm a blank flank too. And that means we're a couple of misfits!" They both walked away to be independent with smiles on their faces. Now these two didn't have any idea about what they were getting themselves into. Equestria looked a lot more complicated and dangerous than it seemed when they were snug and warm at home. Moments later, they were walking through the snow mountain area. Suddenly they heard a loud roar. "It's Discord! He must see your nose! Quick! Douse the light!" Sweetie Belle said as she covered Scooteroll's flashing red nose with her hooves.

Discord was hiding behind a mountain as he was roaring loudly. He then went away thinking that he saw nothing. The next day, Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle somehow managed to get through the first night. Then they heard a noise, and they looked over to see an earth pony with a pale, light grayish olive mane, moderate sap green eyes, light freckles on the cheeks, and three red apples for her cutie mark named Applejack driving a dog sled as she shouted "Mush! Mush!" Frightened, Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle buried their faces in the snow. "Come on, ya'll! Mush!" Applejack said as the dogs suddenly stopped running. She looked over to see Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle, and said "What's this?" They got them out of the snow, and said "Hey! You'd get frostbite that way." "Who are you?" Scooteroll asked. "Who am Ah?" Applejack asked. "The name's Applejack! The greatest prospector in Equestria! This is mah land. And ya'll know, it's rich with gold! Gold! Gold and silver, Silver and gold! Yee-haw!" She tossed her pick axe in the air, and it landed on the ground. She picked it up, sniffed the tips, and licked them. She sighed sadly, and said "Nothing." She perked up, and said "Ah, well. Ah'm off to get some supplies. Ah'll give ya'll a lift! Hop aboard, sugarcubes!" "That'd be great!" Scooteroll said. "I'm Scooteroll." "And I'm Sweetie Belle." Sweetie Belle said as she and Scooteroll hopped on the dog sled.

Applejack then got on, and said "Now mush!" The dogs moved, so Applejack took out the whip, and used it as she said "Mush!" The dogs still didn't move, so Applejack tried again, and said "Mush!" The dogs still didn't move an inch, so Applejack got off, and walked over to the lead dog named Winona, and said "Like this, Winona. Watch." As she pulled the dog sled, the dogs hopped on to enjoy the ride. Suddenly, Discord popped out from behind the mountain, and roared very loudly. Applejack turned around, and gasped in horror as she said "Whoa nellie! It's Discord!" "It's my nose!" Scooteroll said as he nose flashed again. "It keeps giving us away!" As Discord made his way toward them, Applejack said "That critter is really annoying! We'll have to outwit him with out intelligence!" "How?" Scooteroll asked. "Douse your nose, and run like crazy!" Sweetie Belle then covered Scooteroll's nose with her hooves, and Applejack ran from Discord while pulling the dog sled. When they got cornered. "We're trapped!" Scooteroll said in panic. "There's no way out! It's my nose again. It ruined us!" As Discord roared, Applejack said "Discord's got one weakness, and Ah know it!" She quickly used her pick axe to cut the ice to make a large boat. She then pulled from the shore, and they started to float away as he said "Do it yourself ice breaks!" Discord arrived at the shore, and he growled angerly when he realized he couldn't catch them. At long last, Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack were safe.

As they sailed on their ice boat, Applejack said "Applejack scores again! Whoopie!" She tossed her axe in the air, and it landed in the ice. She picked it up, and licked the tip. She sighed, and said "Nothing." "Uh, Applejack? Where are we going?" Scooteroll asked. "You're going to stay with me." Applejack said. "And we'll all be rich with the biggest silver strike this side of Equestria Bay. Silver!" "I thought you wanted gold." Sweetie Belle said. "Ah changed mah mind." Applejack said. Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle just shrugged. The ponies were really on their way, but not one of them knew where they were going. Back at Scooteroll's home in Ponyville, Rainbow Blitz felt pretty bad about the way he had treated Scooteroll. He knew the only thing to do was to go out, and look for his little colt. Rainbow Dash wanted to go along naturally, but Rainbow Blitz said "No, this is stallion's work." No sooner did the stallion of the house leave as Rainbow Dash shedded a few tears. Suddenly, Scootaloo approached Rainbow Dash, and they both decided to set out on their own. Now they were really taking their chances, because in the middle of the ice-cold ocean, the little ice boat had run into a pack of mighty wicked fog.

"Hello!" Applejack yelled out as she tried to see things through the fog. "This fog is thick as peanut butter." "You mean pea soup?" Sweetie Belle asked. "You eat what you like, and Ah'll eat what Ah like, sugarcube." Applejack said. Suddenly the ice boat washed ashore, and Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack yelled as they fell down. "Land ho!" Applejack said. "No kidding!" Sweetie Belle said as she recovered from her fall. "Well, where are we?" Scooteroll asked. They looked to up to see a beautiful castle made of ice crystals. "Hey! Look up there!" Applejack said pointing at an alicorn pony with a pale-pink coat, a mane that is colored dark violet, moderate rose, and pale gold, dark purple eyes, and a crystal heart for her cutie mark flying above them. "Oh!" Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle said feeling amazed. Suddenly, a jack-in-a-box with purple scales and green eyes popped out of his box, and said "Halt! Who goes there?!" "Us, of course." Applejack said. "Who did you think?" "Oh. That's ok." the jack-in-a-box said. He suddenly stopped himself, and said "Ok?! Who, may I ask, you?!" "I'm Scooteroll." Scooteroll said. "I'm Sweetie Belle." Sweetie Belle said. "And Ah'm Applejack." Applejack said. "Who are you?" Scooteroll asked.

"I'm the official sentry of this Island of Misfit Toys." The jack-in-a-box said. "A jack-in-a-box for a sentry?" Sweetie Belle asked. "Yes." The jack-in-a-box said. "My name's-." "Don't tell me." Scooteroll said interrupting the jack-in-a-box. "Jack." The jack-in-a-box frowned, and said "No. It's Spike. That's why I'm a misfit toy. My name is all wrong. Nopony wants to play with a spike-in-a-box. So, I had to come here." "Where's here?" Sweetie Belle asked. Then some misfit toys appeared as Spike said "We're on the Island of Misfit Toys. We don't wanna stay here forever. We want to travel with Princess Luna in her magical sleigh with a pack full of toys that's also filled with joy for millions of fillys and colts on Hearth's Warming Eve. because it's the most wonderful day of the year." Scooteroll smiled, and said "Hey, we're all misfits, too! Maybe we could stay here for a while." "Well, you have to get permission from Princess Cadence." Spike said. "Who's she?" Scooteroll said. "She rules here." Spike said. "Every night, she searches all of Equestria. When she finds a misfit toy, one that no filly or colt loves, she brings it to live here till somepony wants it. She's holding court in her castle right now."

Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack went up the hill, and approached the castle. The door opened, and they walked inside. They looked up to see Princess Cadence sitting on her throne. "Come closer." She said as Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack approached, and bowed before her. "What do you desire?" "Well, we're a couple of misfits from Ponyville, and now we'd like to live here." Princess Cadence shook her head, and said "No. That would not be possible. This island is for toys alone." Applejack frowned, and said "How do you like that?! Even among misfits, you're misfits!" "Unlike playthings, a living creature cannot hide himself on an island." Princess Cadence said. "But, perhaps, being misfists yourselves, you might help the toys here." "Help them?" Scooteroll asked. Princess Cadence nodded, and said "Yes. When someday you return to Ponyville, would you tell Princess Luna about our homeless toys? I'm sure he could find little fillies and colts who would be happy with them. A toy is never truly happy until it is loved by a foal." "When and if we ever get back, we'll tell Princess Luna, miss." Princess Cadence smiled, and said "Good. You are free to spend the night." She looked at a unicorn pony doll with red dots on his coat named Shining Armor, clapped her hooves, and said "Shining Armor! Show our friends to their chambers." "Yes, you highness." Shining Armor said as he lead Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack to the small cabin that's a few inches outside Princess Cadence's castle.

Later that night, Scooteroll, Sweetie Belle, and Applejack began to settle in the small cabin. When Scooteroll told his friends that he wanted to leave, Sweetie Belle shook her head, and said "No. It's all settled. We leave tomorrow together." "But Discord will see my nose, and get us all." Scooteroll said as his nose flashed. "I've got to go alone." "Nonsense, sugarcube." Applejack said. "It's all for one, and one for all. Now let's get some shuteye." "But-." Scooteroll tried to say, but Sweetie Belle interrupted him, and said "It's all settled." She then turned the light off, and she and Applejack fell asleep. Poor Scooteroll couldn't get any sleep because he realized that he can't endanger his friends' lives anymore. So that night, he decided to strike out on his own. He quietly walked out the cabin, and ran off. The next morning, as he sailed on an ice boat, he said "Goodbye, Applejack. I hope you find lots of tinsel. Goodbye, Sweetie Belle. Whatever a dentist is, I hope that someday, you're the greatest." Time passed slowly, and Scooteroll existed as best he could. Discord kept him on the run, but once in a while, he would stop, and make a friend or two. But it wouldn't last long, and Scooteroll would be on his own. But during all that time, a strange and wonderful thing had happened. Scooteroll grew quite a bit, and he learned to fly well. All that growing up made him realize that you can't run away from your troubles. And pretty soon, he knew where he had to go: home."

Moments later, Scooteroll had arrived in Ponyville, and Button Mash noticed him as he said "You! I thought you were gone for good!" He turned to his friends, and said "Hey, look who's back: Old Neon Blank Flank!" He and his friends laughed as Scooteroll glared at them, and took off running to his home. He entered his home, and looked around as he said "Mom? Dad? I'm home!" He then heard a voice that said "They're gone, Scooteroll." He turned to see Princess Luna standing there as she said "They've been gone for months out looking for you." "Scootaloo?" Scooteroll asked. "She's gone too." Princess Luna said. "And I'm very worried. Hearth's Warming Eve is only two days off, and without your father, I'll never be able to get my sleigh off the ground." "Gone?" Scooteroll asked. "I'll find him, miss. I'll find them all." He was just about to leave when suddenly, the storm of storms hit, and only two days before Hearth's Warming Eve. The wind was blowing all over the place, and Scooteroll knew that he had to find his parents and Scootaloo right away, and he knew where he had to look: the cave of Discord. Moments later, he arrived at Discord's cave, and he looked up to see that the spirit of chaos was about to eat Scootaloo. Scooteroll ran up to Discord, and said "Put her down!" Discord looked down on him as he placed Scootaloo on the floor.

The spirit of chaos then tried to attack him, but Scooteroll got out of the way. Scooteroll then ran up to Discord, and kicked him many times, even though it didn't hurt him. Discord then took a rock pillar, and threw it at Scoorteroll, knocking him out cold. Discord roared out that sounded like laughter. Outside the cave Sweetie Belle and Applejack had arrived in Ponyville just as the storm hit. Ever since Scooteroll left them, they had been trying to find their friend. Sweetie Belle spotted the cave as she said "Hey, look!" As Applejack tried to get her dogs to stop mushing, she said "Whoa! Unmush, will you?!" They stopped nearby the entrance to the cave, and Sweetie Belle looked up at Applejack as she said "What do we do? We can't let Discord get ahold of them." Applejack thought for a minute, and she said "Ah got an idea. Listen." She whispered the plan into Sweetie Belle's ear, and she smiled as she said "Not Bad. It might work!" Inside the cave, Rainbow Blitz, Rainbow Dash, and Scootaloo looked at the fallen red-nosed pony as Scootaloo cried, and said "Why doesn't he get it over with?!" Scootaroll then woke up as he said "Mom? Dad? Scootaloo!" Outside the cave, Sweetie Belle looked at Applejack, and said "Are you sure we can get him out?" Applejack nodded, and said "Never knew the spirit of chaos yet who'd turn down a pork dinner for pony meat. Do your stuff!" Sweetie Belle cleared her throat, and said "Oink oink."

Applejack sighed, and said "Put some heart in it! That spirit of chaos is hungry!" Sweetie Bell kept making some oinking noise that was so loud that Discord was able to hear it from inside his cave. So he walked out of his cave, and Applejack pushed a snowbank onto his head, knocking him to the ground. "Terrible weather we've been having. Snow and ice." Applejack said as she pushed a rock onto Discord's head, knocking him out. "All right dentist, you take it from here." Sweetie Belle took out a teeth puller, and started pulling his teeth as Scooteroll said "It's Applejack!" "Ta-da!" Applejack said. "In the flesh!" "We're saved!" Scooteroll said. "Let's get out of here!" Rainbow Blitz said. "I'll light the way!" Scooteroll said as Discord recovered, and blocked the exit. Applejack glared, and said "Why, blast your chaos hide." Sweetie Belle showed up, and said "Don't let this big blowhard scare you anymore. Just walk right past him." Discord opened his mouth, and gasped in shock when he saw that his teeth was taken out. "Ah tell you, you're looking at a mighty humble bumble." Discord roared, and Applejack said "He's nothing without his chompers. Let me at him!" She ran up to Discord, and jumped on him as she said "Wahoo!" Applejack's dogs ran up to Discord, and jumped on him as they all fell over a cliff. "APPLEJACK!" Scooteroll and Sweetie Belle shouted at the same time. They looked down the cliff as Scooteroll said "She's gone! Oh, she's gone!" They were all very sad at the loss of their friend, but they realized that the best thing to get the mares back to Ponyville. After that, they went to the toyshop in Canterlot, and when everypony heard their story, they started to realize that they were a little hard on the misfists. They also realized that misfits have a place too. Even Princess Luna realized that she was wrong all along.

In the toyshop, when Scooteroll told Princess Luna about Princess Cadence, and the Island of Misfit Toys, the princess of the night said "Scooteroll, I promise, as soon as this storm lets up, I'll find homes for all those misfit toys. Rarity and Sweetie Belle who finally got her cutie mark, which was a toothbursh next to a silver bell, patched things up with each other, and Rarity said "All right, you can open a dentist office. Next week after Hearth's Warming Eve." "Thanks sis." Sweetie Belle said. "And I'm sorry for running away." "I'm sorry too." Rarity said as she nodded. "I should never have been so hard on you." "Anyway, come here, and open your mouth." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity got closer to Sweetie Belle, and she opened her mouth for her sister to see. Sweetie Belle looked into Rarity's mouth, and said "Oh dear. I better set up an appointment for you a week from Tuesday at at 4:30 PM sharp." Rarity nodded, and Trixie looked at Scooteroll as she said "I'm sorry too, Scooteroll. For the way I acted." "Aw, it's ok." Scooteroll said. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door, and a voice said "Open up! It isn't a fit night out for pony nor beast!" Two pony-elves opened the door to reveal Applejack who said "Here's the pony." Then Discord appeared, and Applejack said "And here's the beast!" "Hello, everypony." Discord said as he and Applejack stepped inside. Everypony gasped in shock, and backed away in fear.

"Now calm down, everypony." Applejack said getting them to calm down. "Ah was able to reform Discord. He wants a job. Look at what he can do." Discord took out a Christmas star, and flew up to the top of the Chrstmas tree, and placed the star on it. Everypony gasped in awe, and Applejack said "And he doesn't even need a stepladder." "But...But...you went over the side of the cliff." Scooteroll said. "Didn't Ah ever tell ya'll?" Applejack asked. "Discord bounces." Everypony laughed, and Discord chuckled as he said "It's true." He sighed, and said "I really am sorry, everypony. I never had a family, so that's why I hated Hearth's warming eve. I hope you can forgive me." Scooteroll smiled, and said "Of course we do." Everypony agreed, and Discord smiled as he said "Thank you all." As good as everypony feels, there was no time for celebrating, because the next day was Hearth's Warming Eve, the biggest day of the year. As the song the pony elves rehearsed earlier started playing, Twilight Sparkle was trying to get her boss to eat as she said "Eat, Princess Luna, eat." "How can I eat?" Princess Luna asked feeling irritated. "That silly pony-elf song is driving me crazy!" "You're going to disappoint the fillies and colts!" Twilight Sparkle said. "They expect a healthy Princess Luna." An earth pony-elf named Bon Bon came in with the weather report, and said "Latest weather report, miss." Princess Luna looked at the weather report, sighed sadly, and said "Well, this is it. The storm won't subside by tonight. We'll have to cancel Hearth's Warming Eve."

"Princess Luna, are you sure?" Twilight Sparkle asked. "Everything's grounded!" Princess Luna said. "Oh, the poor fillies and colts. They've been so good this year, too. But, I couldn't chance it. I'll have to tell everypony that it's all off this year." She went into the main hall, and said "Quiet! Quiet! Please, everypony quiet!" Everypony stopped talking, and they all looked at Princess Luna who sighed, and said "I've got some bad news, everypony. Hearth's Warming Eve is going to be canceled. Everypony gasped in shock and horror, and Princess Luna said "There's nothing I can do. This weather-." She was suddenly interrupted when Scooteroll's nose started flashing and glowing. "Scooteroll, Scooteroll, please! Could you tone it down a bit? I mean, that nose of yours." She said as she shielded her eyes with her wing. She then gasped, and said "That nose! That beautiful, wonderful nose!" "Huh?" Scooteroll asked. "Scooteroll, Hearth's Warming Eve is not off, and you're going to lead my team." Everypony cheered, and Scooteroll said "I am?" "Yes, sir!" Princess Luna said "You and that wonderful nose of yours!" "My nose, miss?" Scooteroll said as his nose flashed. "From what I see now, that'll cut through the murkiest storm they can dish up." Princess Luna said. "What I'm trying to say is...Scooteroll, with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Scooteroll smiled, and said "It will be an honor, miss."

Suddenly a bright light flash on Scooteroll's flank, and he turned to see that his cutie mark appeared. It was a red nose with a pair of wings on it. He cheered, and said "I finally got my cutie mark!" Everypony cheered, and Rainbow Blitz said "I knew that nose would be useful someday. I knew it all along." Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes, and said "Sure you did." The pony-elves loaded the presents onto the sleigh while the six pegasai ponies got ready to take flight with Scooteroll leading the way with his red nose. Twilight Sparkle gave Princess Luna a hay burger as she said "Eat now, fly later." Princess Luna eat the hay burger, and said "Thank you," "Now, can I hear your royal Canterlot voice?" Twilight Sparkle asked. Princess Luna took a deep breath, and in her royal Canterlot voice, she said "HAPPY HEARTH'S WARMING EVE, EVERYPONY!" Twilight Sparkle smiled, and said "Now, that's my Princess Luna." "Thank you, Twilight." Princess Luna said. She looked at a unicorn pony-elf named Lyra Heartstrings, and said "My Hearth's Warming Eve crown." Lyra Heartstrings gave her a gold crown with rubies and emeralds on it, and as she placed it on her head, she said "Ready, Scooteroll?" "Ready, Princess Luna." Scooteroll said.

"Well, let's be on our way." Princess Luna said as she got into the sleigh. "Ok, Scooteroll. Full power!" Scooteroll's nose started glowing, and the two pony-elves opened the door. "First stop, the Island of Misfit Toys." Princess Luna said as they started to take off. "Up, up, up, and away!" As they soared into the sky, Scootaloo said "He'll be a hero after this!" Rainbow Dash smiled, and said "Yes, a hero!" "That's my colt!" Rainbow Blitz said smiling. Applejack looked at her dogs, and said "Now, you see how it's done?" She tossed her axe in the air, and picked it up. She licked it, and discovered pepperment as she said "Peppermint! What Ah've been searching for mah whole life! Ah've struck it rich! Ah've got a peppermint mine! Yee-haw!" On the Island of Misfit Toys, Spike, Shining Armor, and a little stuffed buffalo named Little Strongheart were sitting in front of a fire to keep warm. "Well, it's Hearth's Warming Eve, but..." Spike said. "Looks like we're forgotten again." Shining Armor said finishing Spike's sentence. "But Scooteroll promised we'd go this time." Little Strongheart said. Spike sighed, and said "Guess the storm was too much for them."

Not hearing the sound of jingle bells, Spike said "Might just as well go to bed, and start dreaming about next year." "I haven't any dreams left to dream!" Little Strongheart said as she started crying. "We'll never get off this island. Never!" Suddenly, the jingle bell sound finally got loud enough to be heard as Shining Armor said "Wait a minute! What's that? Is it? Is it?" Spike smiled, and said "It sure is! It's Princess Luna! And look! Scooteroll's heading this way!" "You can see his nose from here!" Little Strongheart said as she, Spike, Shining Armor, and the other misfit toys gathered together, and Princess Luna and her team landed on the island. "Well, let's be on our way." Princess Luna said as the misfit toys got in the sleigh. "Ready, Scooteroll?" "Ready, Princess Luna!" Scooteroll said. "Ok, Scooteroll, full power!" Princess Luna said as Scooteroll's nose started glowing, and they took off into the sky. "Up, up, up, and away!" Princess Luna then delievered the presents to all the good fillies and colts. She even delivered the misfit toys to the foals who were quite happy with them. In her royal Canterlot voice, she said "HAPPY HEARTH'S WARMING EVE! HAPPY HEARTH'S WARMING EVE!" As for the rest of the story, Scooteroll went down in history.
