Time Well Spent

Celestia sat on her throne, bored out of her mind. Ever since Luna came back, she has been ‘learning’ about the new Equestria. Celestia didn’t mind this, no she encouraged it! But... Something felt amiss. She wanted to be the sister she couldn’t be so long ago. Although one thing Celestia noticed about her sister was these ‘Video Games’ that she had grown so interested in. She didn’t exactly know much about them. She was always too busy, she didn’t want to have to add something else on her ‘To-do list’.

What was on her to-do list was to spend some more time with her sister. And speaking of said sister....

“Hello, Tia!” Luna exclaimed happily as she walked in with a set of saddlebags on her back. Instead of her regala, she was wearing a dark black hoodie with several gaming system logos, along with a few game logos, scattered across the article of clothing. Celestia smiled at her younger sibling, giggling quietly at her rather un-princess like appearance. After she visited Ponyville for her first Nightmare Night after being gone so long, she found it was easier to not care about what other ponies thought about her.

Ever since that day, she has gained a few friends and had the grandest of times. She attempted to start a night court, but that ended rather poorly for her, sadly enough. But like previously stated, she had a few friends and they helped her out every now and again or vise versa.

“Tia, you will never believe it! I got the newest horror game that came out!” Luna squealed out happily as she pulled a game out with her magic. She levitated the plastic box over to Celestia who took the case in her hooves and looked over the case, smiling. That smile faded quickly as it came however as she looked over the cover. It appeared that a dismembered hoof of a random pony was floating out in space as destruction and other gore surrounded it in the background. If Celestia was a different color, she would have paled. She was never all that good with anything scary, horrific, or gorey.

Plus the sight of blood made her queasy.

“This... This looks... Interesting?” Celestia said with an uncertain smile. Luna had already walked over to her and flipped the game over in her hooves.

“Read the back! Read it!” Luna said excitedly. “I have been following this game for so long! It looks so amazing!”

Celestia read over the information on the back and grimaced as subtly as she could. She was more of a movie buff than a ‘gamer’ as Luna called herself. She gave the game back to Luna and gave a weak smile.

“The game certainly looks... horrific.” Celestia said turning green slightly. Luna just nodded spastically and read over the game for the millionth(I counted, exactly one million!) time. Then Luna looked at Celestia, not noticing the green on her cheeks, and said.

“Hey Tia?... I know we haven’t been exactly hanging out as often as we used to and... I was wondering... If you wanted to come and play this game with me...” Luna said with a small, happy smile. Celestia looked at her sister and smiled with her before shaking her head and giggling.

“I am sorry Luna, but I am not very good at Video games.” Celestia said, but Luna didn’t get sad. Infact she smiled a bit wider.

“But that’s the best part! It’s single player so you could watch it like a movie!” Luna said happily. Celestia was about to say something but stopped herself. She did like watching movies. And she did love being with her sister and watching her be happy. She mulled over it before Luna began to give her the famous ‘Puppy Eyed Gaze’. Not being able to resist such a adorable stare, she nodded reluctantly.

“...Alright.” She said with a defeated smile. Luna let out a happy squee and hugged her sister before setting off to her room.

“Just come by my room after you set the sun!” Luna said happily.

“Okay, Luna. I will...” Celestia said with a smile ‘And mentally prepare myself to be horribly terrified by the messed up minds of this era.

(+..+)

Celestia took in one more deep breath to calm herself down. ‘It’s just a game Tia, no ponies are actually going to try and kill you.’ She thought as she walked up to the door. She gave one last hesitant and negative thought before raising her hoof and knocking against the door. There was a loud clattering, severall sounds of things being tossed around, and what sounded like someone letting out several noises of surprise, frustration, and embarrassment.

Soon the door opened up to show a wide smiling Luna, dressed in a rather amusing outfit. Instead of her regala, or that ‘hoodie’ as she called it, she was wearing a baggy shirt that covered her wings and draped all the way to her flank. Celestia let out a small giggle at how silly her little sister looked in that appearance, but did wonder if it was comfortable.

“Tia! You are just in time, I was unboxing the game right now!” Luna said in delight as she swiftly turned around and walked into her unnaturally bright room. Celestia followed in, looking around as she did. She hadn’t been in Luna’s room for over a thousand years, yes she would occasionally sneak a peek only to become depressed and walk away. She shook the dark thought from her mind and looked around.

Luna had added quite a bit to her room since she had come back. The items varied from small things of sentimental value, to posters and trinkets of random games, and even a small fridge on the left side of her bed. She also noticed a large garbage full of cans of what she could only assume were those disgusting ‘Energy drinks’. What got her her attention the most was a large beanbag, and it was BIG, in front of a T.V. and several gaming consoles.

She watched as her Lunar counterpart practically galloped and jumped onto the large, plush beanbag, only to sink into it with a relaxed sigh. Celestia just shook her head and walked over to the beanbag and crawled onto it. She was surprised as she found her hooves sink into the bag, only to reform back to it’s original shape. She raised an eyebrow at this and continued to poke and prod the beanbag. She was brought out of this by Luna’s not very well hidden giggles. Celestia blushed slightly and looked at her little sister who was on the verge of laughing.

“What?” Celestia huffed in annoyance.

“It’s just enchanted cloud pieces stuffed into a big pillow case sister! It’s not all that interesting!” Luna said before breaking into laughter. Celestia blushed a bit more and laid down on the beanbag with an annoyed huff. ‘It is really comfortable.’ She thought before Luna floated over a controller attached to a strange set of headphones with a mini microphone attached. “Are you still there, Illy?”

Celestia blinked as she watched her sister talk into the piece of plastic only to hear a voice come out of the headset.

Yeah I am here. Kinda busy dismembering the undead, you need something Lula?” The voice spoke of the the earpiece. Celestia looked at her sister, whom was blushing intensely by being called her nickname.

Lula, eh?” Celestia said with a wry smile.

“I-I gotta go, Illusion! I will chat with you later!” Luna said quickly. ‘Illusion’ didn’t even get a chance to respond before she left the chat and practically ripped and tossed the headset away to the other side of her room. The room was deathly quiet as Luna floated her new game over to her and began to open it up.

“So... Illusion, huh?” Celestia said with a smile that could only be described as slightly evil and very, very unnerving. Luna blushed a bit harder and scowled at her sister.

“He is a friend I met in Ponyville and before you go making assumptions he has a marefriend!” Luna said quickly. Celestia just pouted and crossed her forehooves in disappointment, annoyed her ammunition was taken away as quick as it came. Luna took her game out of it’s case and sent it over to the X-Buck as it was labeled and placed the disk in the tray. As the game was pulled into the gaming system, Luna turned off all of the lights in her room, as well as pulling the drapes shut. Soon the only source of light was the T.V.

“Luna, is this really nessica-” Celestia began before she heard a mare’s voice begin to sing over the T.V.’s speakers.

Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are... Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky...” The mare’s voice sang out as the image of a large ship floating out in space came into view. It faded out to different angles of the ship as the mare continued to sing. As she sung, a gruesome image of a mangled and maimed pony covered in a strange armor and then a image of three more ponies in the strange armor, huddled around a destroyed vehicle, all torn apart, missing limbs and such. “When the blazing sun is gone... When the nothing shines upon...

Celestia let out a quiet yelp of terror as a high pitched sound tore her from the song and showed a pony in the same armor, with a bright neon cyan bar running down it’s back, was fighting against a large fleshy beast. She looked at Luna, whose eyes were transfixed on the T.V, before hearing the mare’s voice again.

This carried on until Celestia was behind Luna and sitting on her haunches, clutching the lunar mare to her chest in fright while a wing was covering her face, and the video soon with the final verse of the mare’s voice.

Though I know not what you are.... Twinkle, twinkle, little star.” And the scene faded to black, allowing the opening screen to fade into view. Luna smiled widely before looking to where Celestia was before she looked up to see Celestia cowering behind her wing, her magenta eye barely peeking out.

“I-I-Is it o-over?” Celestia whimpered out as she looked at the screen. Luna was simply gawking at Celestia. She had faced down dragons, Discord, and even Nightmare Moon, yet she was scared of a little virtual game?..... Oh she was going to use this ammunition later.

She let out a small snicker and nodded, enjoying the feeling of her sister’s furry belly as a back rest. “Yes, Tia. It is over.” Luna said with a smile.

“G-good.” Tia muttered out.

“Now on to the actual game!” Luna stated happily as Celestia let out a quiet squeak, clutching Luna closer on reflex.

(+..+)

“NO! No move, you fool! Mo- AAAAAAH!” Celestia shouted at the screen as she watched the bipedal monster impale the stallion in front of Luna’s character before beginning to chew upon his neck, ripping tendons and flesh from the suited pony.

“AAH! What is that thing!? Isaac! RUN!” The mocha colored unicorn pulled up a strange tube looking weapon before unloading it’s contents towards the feral, carnivorous creature creature. Luna’s Character promptly named ‘Isaac’ turned and began to bolt through the room before the sound of metal breaking was heard. Luna turned and saw one of the monsters stand up before glaring at Luna and then beginning to run after her.

“RUN LUNA! RUN!” Celestia shouted out as Luna swiftly changed her orientation and bolted through an open door and down the hallway. Celestia was biting her wingtips, fidgeting nervously as Luna ran as fast as her metal plated legs would carry her. Finally, she arrived at a elevator and ran in, watching as Isaac slammed his hoof against the button. Celestia breathed calmly as she saw the doors shut. That was for not however as one of the mangled beasts slammed its claws into the doors and began to pry them open, making Isaac take several steps back.

Celestia let out a shriek of terror before the doors slammed together and completely decimated the monster. A small ‘Urp’ filled the air as Celestia put a hoof over her mouth. Luna was silent for the most part before she giggled quietly to herself.

“That... Was... Awesome!~” She giddily squealed to herself. “I can’t wait to fight these creatures one on one!” Celestia let out another ‘Urp’.

(+..+)

The night was filled with intense necromorph combat, brutal death animations, and quite a bit of yelling on Celestia’s behalf. By the end of it all, both of the alicorns were tuckered out.

Celestia laid on her side on the giant pillow, a hoof wrapped around Luna and a wing covering her face in an attempt to stave off the fictional monsters. Luna continued to play through her game, nearly halfway through if her assumption was correct. When she finally stopped playing, raising a hoof to stave off a yawn, she looked down at her sister.

The big white alicorn was quivering in mild fear from watching the game for so long, a frown on her face and her leg occasionally kicking. Luna giggled quietly to herself, her sister’s adorable actions only furthered her tired state. Turning off her game, she laid down and snuggled against her sister’s underbelly. A quiet sigh escaped her as she fell asleep, entering the dream world and helping to banish the monsters from Celestia’s dreams.

Their evening of horror games and terror had finally come to an end. Even after all of the madness Celestia witness, she had to admit she had fun.

To her, it was time well spent.
