Prologue - Dark Beginnings

I have been betrayed. Deceived. Killed. I alone held a dark gift that matched no other could imagine to possess and was defeated by my own brother, Dracula Silverdawn. I am powerless in the shadow of death, alone in the dark. But Dracula is not the only one that has betrayed me. Celestia and Luna have betrayed me as well. My anger and hatred for the final end of those three is most assured.

But because I was killed with Whiteash my magic is not able to be regenerated. While it is powerful, it cannot raise me from the dead in such a weakened state. I have gazed into the abyss and know the secrets of the universe. There exists alternate dimensions and broken ones as well. In this dimension I have seen the altered destiny of nearly everypony. In this dimension I was vanquished by the wielder of the Elements of Harmony, the student of Luna Dracula. But in another dimension I am defeated by him and a certain Twilight Sparkle.

I have studied the shadows and looked into the past through the Abyssal Maw to see the fate of Twilight Sparkle in this dimension. She is the perfect pony to taint and to be my apprentice. All it will take is lies and deceit to break her and to reshape her into a new mare of darkness.

My only hope is that she does not turn out like Nightmare Moon, being banished to the moon and all. But if I train her right then she could be an unstoppable force of destruction and a wielder of her emotions. All I can see now however is pure darkness, I need to do is figure out a way to manifest myself in the physical plane. I can’t exact my revenge in a realm of darkness. Summoning all my leftover power I attempted to break the boundaries and appear as a ghost to any who see me.

Straining with all my might and began to sweat. With a deep breath my eyes shot opened and I began to gasp uncontrollably but I began to slow my breathing down and focused on where I was. I was in the Castle of Shadows and I saw nothing inside but my dead body on the floor. I winced at it and said,”Such a weak pony. Easy to manipulate and possess.”

As cold as ice and steel I said those words. Breaking through all forms of sound and physical touch. Before I attempt to break Twilight I must see something first. Teleporting to Dracula’s location I saw him and Celestia and Luna.

They were conversing in Canterlot. Dracula knelt in front of Celestia and Luna and Celestia said in a old and serene voice,”You have come a long way Dracula, so it is with my great honor that I present you with these Elements of Harmony.”

I listened with great contempt and began to think of ways to twist and manipulate the events that will make it easier to convince Twilight to learn under me. Luna is the next to speak, she talks with a younger but more beautiful voice,”Yes. You have proven worthy to wield these. With these you will be capable of defending Equestria and its neighbors.”

I couldn’t do anything about the Elements, they weren’t in the possession of the Spirits. So he couldn’t threaten their lives. She did not care nor would she care if something happened to them. They weren’t leverage. He listened carefully and heard Dracula’s familiar voice reply,”I will wield these with honor and integrity. I will not doubt you for a moment.”

Celestia nods her head and opens a chest and says,”You are one of the only ones that can wield these.”

Celestia looks down depressingly and says,”If only Twilight had passed her entrance exam…”

Then something clicked in my mind. I could use that as leverage and to help convince her. That she would have been destined to wield the Elements, but it was taken from her by Celestia, Luna, and Dracula. All I needed to know now was where she was. I concentrate my powers and transported myself in shadows and began to think. I hurt, using my magic. It was the Whiteash that lasted even through death. It was designed to kill Children of the Night permanently. So far it has not been proven wrong.

Dark memories swirled through my mind and heard a voice in my mind say,”You cannot do this Sombra. You will create a monster who is destined to become Celestia’s student.”

I reply back to the voice and say,”She was denied that fate long ago. Nothing will stop me from this, we both deserve revenge. You know nothing of Revenge.”

There was a moment of silence before the essence left and he said,”More than  you know Sombra. More than you know.”

I shake my head and began to think. I thought that maybe he was right, but I threw them away because it is too far gone and so is Twilight she is ready to be broken. I found her, she is sleeping in an inn at Ponyville. I smiled and began feeding feelings in her head and a small amount of knowledge about dark magic. Like how to use it and summon it. I felt a little bit of resistance but the feelings were being absorbed into her and it was nothing she already felt, I just amplified them.

Making her remember times of shadow and darkness, to weaken her mental resistance to my influence. This was her first step to becoming my apprentice. Letting her fall inside black. Letting her channel the hatred and revenge she so righteously deserves. And nothing will be able to stop them. She begins to shift uncomfortably in her bed.

Her room was of average size and a bed was all that was in the room. That and a window. It was not well kept and no doubt smelled awful. Twilight laid out on the bed with closed eyes and a turned head. At first she only shifted ever so often. But soon it began to escalate and her face strained and she began to sweat. Breathing heavy. Anxiety settled in and he used this moment to wake her. She jumped awake and I spared no expense I used all of my magic to materialise in the physical plane and appeared in the corner of the room invisible but there nonetheless. I stayed in the shadows and waited for her to react.

This is the beginning of the end. A Dark beginning.
