Chapter 1: The worst kind of surprise
It was a nice sunny Saturday afternoon for the Apple family. Big Mac was bucking apples to sell for a huge profit, Granny Smith was taking her usual afternoon nap, and Apple Bloom was out helping Big Mac with the bucking. Applejack, however, was looking at the front entrance for a certain pony to show up. She stood there, tall and proudful, yet deep inside, she was nervous, because this pony was late. The pony that Applejack was waiting for was never late for an appointment, job, or anything really. Concerned, Applejack went over to Apple Bloom, who was still helping Big Mac out with the apple bucking, and in a worrisome voice, asked "Hey, Apple Bloom? What time is it?"
Apple Bloom went inside the house to check the time, and came back as soon as she got the time. "Why, sis, it's 2:15," Apple Bloom kindly answered, "Are you waiting for somepony?"
"Yes, actually," Applejack said with that worrisome tone still lingering inside her "I asked Pinkie Pie if she wanted to help with..." Before Applejack could complete her sentence, Apple Bloom interrupted with a loud, yet enthusiastic "Pinkie Pie is coming over?! AWESOME!!! I better get my song sheet out!"
With a puzzled expression on her face, Applejack replied "Song sheet? Why in the hay would you need Pinkie to help you with writin' a song?"
"Well..." Apple Bloom began in a childish manner "Pinkie asked if I wanted to sing for a young filly's birthday party next week, and I was more than happy to. I just want Pinkie to help me write lyrics, that's all." Apple Bloom then gave a kind, yet awkward looking smile.
"Uhh... sure..." Applejack replied, with the puzzled nature still present. Shortly after, Apple Bloom noticed a slowly moving figure approaching the Apple Family Farm. She jumped over Applejack, took a good look at the figure, and loudly shouted "IT'S PINKIE PIE!!!" She shook her older sister in excitement, and soon alerted the other Apple family members. Apple Bloom softly shook Granny Smith to wake her up. Granny Smith wasn't too thrilled about it, "What makes you think you can wake up lil' ol' Granny Smith like that, Apple Bloom?" she said in an annoyed voice.
What started out as a simple apology "Sorry, Granny," soon erupted into the excitement showing its head again "But Pinkie Pie's here to visit!"
That caught Granny Smith's attention in no time flat, and with a surprised tone, "What? Our Pinkie Pie? Well, shoot! Why didn't anypony tell me earlier?"
"Applejack just told me, and Pinkie just got here!"
"Well, give me some time to walk, okay?"
'Kay, Granny!"
Applejack, Apple Bloom, and Big Mac approached the front gate to the Apple Family Farm and hollered a huge "HOWDY, COUSIN PINKIE PIE!!!" However, what they saw, was truly shocking. All 3 ponies gasped in fear to what they saw right in front of their eyes. It was certainly Pinkie Pie, but she looked... well, different, in a bizarre way. She was shriveled up much like a pony that's been in the pool for too long, and their skin is all soggy. Her knees were shaking, almost as if she was having a hard time balancing herself. Her cotton candy-like mane resembled her normal flat mane, and her face covered with chocolate, with red eyes to add to the disturbing factor. She looked happy, and tried her best to say something. However, her voice was very weak, almost as if she was whispering:
"Oh, thank you for the welcome surprise..."
All 3 of the Apple family members looked at each other, very concerned about their very sick looking cousin. After 10 seconds of silence, Applejack finally broke the silence, and with the concerned tone in her voice returning, she asked "Pinkie... are you feelin'... okay?"
Pinkie responded the best she could with her incredibly fragile voice "Oh, yeah... I'm just feeling peachy."
"You sure?" Apple Bloom asked with the concerned tone affecting her "Because you're lookin'... different."
"Eeyup." Big Mac replied with his trademark quote.
At that point, Pinkie tried to defend herself: "Different...?" she tried to laugh, but she ended going in a violent coughing phase, with Apple Bloom backing up behind Applejack and Big Mac. After coughing for a few seconds, Pinkie stopped, and continued on what she was saying "What are you talking about? I'm the same old happy party pony I've always been. I'm just having allergies right now." She soon gave a weak smile, as if she were trying to fool the Apple family. All 3 members of the Apple family soon huddled together, with Granny Smith finally getting out of the house. "What in tarnation is going on?" she asked. Applejack then pulled Granny Smith into the circle.
"Granny..." Applejack started, with a sad tone "Pinkie... Pinkie isn't feelin' too good."
Granny soon took her head out of the circle, and saw the very sick looking Pinkie Pie. Pinkie tried her best to wave at Granny, but as soon as she lifted her front right hoof up, she lost balance, and fell on her face. Granny then put her head back in the circle, and replied "Oh, yeah, that pony doesn't look good at all."
"Eeyup." Big Mac agreed.
"What are we gonna do, guys," a concerned Apple Bloom asked "We just can't tell her to leave because she's sick."
"I know," Applejack replied, "But this is more than just allergies, and it ain't foolin' us. I'm gonna to talk with Pinkie. You guys go back to what you were doin'."
"But..." Apple Bloom tried to interrupt.
"Don't worry, Apple Bloom. I have everythin' under control here."
The other 3 members looked at Applejack, and each of them nodded, though Apple Bloom thought of resisting. The others went back to work, leaving Applejack with Pinkie.
Applejack took Pinkie into the barn, with Pinkie struggling to keep up.
Pinkie saw what happened, and asked: "What are they doing?"
"Just gettin' back to work." Applejack replied.
"But... you wanted me to help with the apple bucking." Pinkie followed up with a sad tone.
"I did, but you're not lookin' too good. In fact, you're lookin' like you haven't eaten in over 2 weeks." Applejack replied to Pinkie. At this point, Pinkie was starting to get worse. She soon fell over, and tried to get up, but she couldn't. Her legs were too weak.
Scared with fear of seeing an army of Timber Wolves, Applejack tried to get Pinkie up, but Pinkie kept falling over, like a Jenga tower that couldn't support its own weight.
"Pinkie!" Applejack yelled with a scared tone. "Pinkie, get up! What's wrong with you?!"
Pinkie tried to get up once again, but she couldn't. Finally, she answered Applejack: "I... I don't know..." with the same weak voice. After saying that, Pinkie collapsed, and became unconscious. Applejack got even more terrified, as if she wasn't terrified already. "... Pinkie...?" She looked at the unconscious body of her cousin, and checked to see if her heart stopped beating. It didn't, but it was beating at an incredibly fast rate. At this point, Applejack broke into tears, and soon ran out of the barn at blazing speeds, going into a full on panic mode.
"EMERGENCY, EMERGENCY!!!" Applejack shouted with all her might. All the other Apple family members soon came to Applejack, each having concerned faces. "Is Pinkie..." Apple Bloom tried to ask, in a worried voice. Applejack soon gave the other 3 commands on what to do.
"Apple Bloom, alert the others about Pinkie!" Apple Bloom than ran without hesitation to get the other Mane 4.
"Big Mac, call the hospital!"
"Eeyup!" Big Mac replied with a terrified tone.
"Granny... you help me keep in eye on Pinkie. She passed out."
"Oh... we have to stick together on this, Applejack." Granny Smith said with some level of confidence.
"I know, Granny... I know." Applejack replied with the sad tone lingering inside her.
Both Applejack and Granny Smith went into the barn, with Applejack picking up the unconscious Pinkie, with her on AJ's back, with Granny Smith putting a pillow and blanket on the ground, and Applejack slowly putting down Pinkie.
After the ambulance left with Pinkie Pie's body, Applejack laid there on the dirt, and cried a small puddle. The image of her cousin and friend suffering on the ground trying to get up was too much for her to handle. After about an hour of crying, Apple Bloom returned with the other Mane 4, all of who were taken back by Applejack's puddle of frightful tears. Rainbow started to conversation, but unlike her usual prideful fare, she looked concerned for Applejack. "Hey, AJ. We all came as fast as we could. What's the trouble?" Rainbow asked with sincerity.
Applejack tried to gain her composure, but she still talked with the crying: "It's... it's Pinkie Pie."
The Mane 4 were quick to react. "What's wrong with Pinkie?" Twilight asked.
"She was incredibly sick," Applejack answered "She looked like she didn't eat in days."
Fluttershy then entered the conversation: "Now that you mention Pinkie Pie, she went on a picnic with my animal friends a couple of weeks ago. She constantly drank all the water we had. She even drank the water from the lake that was near by."
Then Rainbow put herself in the moment: "Really? That's nothing compared to last week. She and I had a race, but she got tired almost as quickly as the race began. She said that she had been overworked at Sugar Cube Corner, but I don't know how busy a bakery can get on a Saturday, so who knows?"
Finally, Rarity took a part in the conversation table: "I also noticed that she was a lot skinnier than usual. The dresses that used to fit her weren't fitting her anymore. I asked if she was losing weight, to which she replied 'I guess...' Wait... it sounds like Pinkie has a flu."
"It's more than a flu." Twilight claimed. The others glanced at Twilight as if she were the princess of health.
"If these symptoms are correct: losing weight incredibly quickly, being tired in an instant, and drinking massive amounts of liquids..." She paused, then looked over at Applejack. She then continued "Applejack, what else was wrong with Pinkie?"
"She was losing balance, and had a hard time talking." Applejack answered.
"Yeah, it's official: Pinkie has Diabetes." Twilight confirmed.
The others gasped, with Applejack soon asking "What... what is Diabetes?"
Twilight soon teleported a medical book to her side, and flipped to a page titled "Diabetes." Twilight began to read the page:
"According to the medical book, Diabetes is an illness that is either caused by genetics or by eating too much unhealthy food."
"Well..." Rainbow stepped in, "Pinkie is known for eating a lot, and I mean a LOT of sweets."
"Yeah," chimed in Twilight, "However, Pinkie also has a fairly balanced diet as well."
"So, why are we here talkin' about this?" Applejack asked, "My cousin, I mean, our friend, is in the hospital with an illness that's hurtin' her! We have to get there now!" Applejack than took off at lightning speed, however, Twilight wasn't going to stand that, thus she teleported in front of Applejack, and stopped her with magic. Applejack then soon started to shed tears again, causing Twilight to let go of Applejack. Twilight and the rest of the Mane 3 soon gave a group hug to Applejack.
Twilight, in a soft, comforting tone, said "I know you're worried about Pinkie, Applejack. We're all worried about her, but she's going to be fine."
Wiping the tears off of her face, Applejack looked at Twilight, and gave her a hug. She wasn't fully convinced, so to make sure, she asked Twilight if she was truly going to be okay: "I don't know. She looked like she wasn't goin' to last much longer."
"You most likely got to her in time," Twilight replied, "If she lasted longer, she probably wouldn't have made it."
"Say, where's Spike?" Applejack asked.
"Oh, Spike's at the Crystal Empire to attend an important meeting. I'll tell him about it when I get back."
Rarity then stepped into the conversation: "Come on, girls. We have to pay our friend a visit."
The Mane 5 soon took off to the hospital, to see their sick, but still happy friend.
Chapter 2: Friends and Family Together
During the walk to the hospital, Applejack still had several dark thoughts on what happened to Pinkie. Despite Twilight's words on what Diabetes was, and her friend's support for Pinkie, AJ still had doubts that Pinkie was going to be okay. She didn't want to drag down the walk, so she kept quiet, and tried to hope for the best. After a while, the others got hungry, so they decided to stop for some food. They went to the burger joint that Pinkie worked for one time for some extra money, basically a summer job in a way. Applejack wasn't eating her food. Twilight and Rainbow were happily munching down on their food, with Rarity slowly eating her low fat fries. Fluttershy, being the animal lover that she is, decided to go for a salad, with tons of lettuce and tomatoes. Applejack just asked for some soup, not in the mood for anything heavy. Rainbow wasn't liking AJ's look on her face, staring into her soup.
"Hey, Applejack?" Rainbow said with concern, "Why aren't you eating your soup?"
"Quite frankly, I'm just not in the mood for eatin'." Applejack answered with a sad tone, "I'm still thinkin' about Pinkie Pie."
"Hey, don't threat over it." Rainbow replied, with a cheerful tone, "Twilight said Pinkie Pie's going to be just fine, right Twilight?"
Twilight wiped the ketchup from her face with a napkin, and swallowed her burger. "Oh yeah, she's going to be just fine." Twilight replied.
"I know she is," Applejack commented, "But I can't help not worryin' about her. I've never seen anypony so drained before."
Fluttershy, putting her fork down with half a tomato on it, patted AJ in the back and in a soft tone, said "I know what it's like to worry about others when you know everything's going to be fine. It's such a horrible feeling, that you can't help but get even more worried."
Rarity chimed in to help out: "And besides, it's better to focus on the positive and what's happening, rather than focusing on the negative and worrying about what could happen. Pinkie just happened to be diagnosed with an illness that she'll have live with for the rest of her life. You know Pinkie. She'll worry and be sad about it for a couple of weeks, but she'll be just as happy as she normally is after accepting what she has."
"I guess..." Applejack replied with a unsure tone. She picked up her soup bowl, and asked if one of her friends wanted her soup. Rarity was the only one who accepted it, as she only had a small amount of low fat fries, and needed something else to hold her over. AJ got up from the table, with Twilight asking "Where are you going?"
"I'm gonna get some fresh air." AJ answered, "Let me know when the others are ready." Twilight got up from the table and followed Applejack outside. Applejack didn't take kindly to it:
"I told you to tell me when the others were ready." she said in a stern tone.
"Hey, you're giving commands to the Princess of Friendship here." Twilight came back with. Soon, an argument broke out between the two, both getting angrier at the other by the second.
"So? I'm one of your 'equals' as you put it."
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean that you can talk to me with that kind of tone."
"Who cares about what kind of tone I'm talkin' to you with? We have a friend that's in the hospital right now, and you're all cool about it?"
"I know what Diabetes is. I've studied about it in my old library, and even met a few ponies with it. They're fine, and can live just as long as ponies without Diabetes."
"Yeah..." AJ said with a tone that sounded defeated in an argument, but came back with "But you don't have it, so how would you know by readin' about it and meeting other ponies with it?"
"Because I got to talk to them about it, and they said that as long as they keep their health in check, they're fine."
"That doesn't mean that Pinkie's goin' to be okay."
"Yes, it is! You're over thinking this way too much, Applejack! Pinkie's going to be fine, and that's final!"
Applejack then burst into tears again. Twilight, realizing how she confronted her friend, put one of her wings around AJ, and calmed down when talking with her, "I know it's hard to accept Pinkie being in a lot of pain, and the fact that you two have a deeper connection because you're related, but you can't let the negativity haunt you. You're getting yourself worried over nothing, Applejack. Pinkie's going to be okay, but with that attitude, she'll be devastated that you didn't have enough confidence and a lot of doubt that she would make it. Do you want to see your friend, better yet, your cousin be devastated about your lack of faith?"
Wiping her tears and sniffing her nose, AJ replied with "No, I don't want to have Pinkie be disappointed with me. I want her to know that I have just as, if not more, faith that she was goin' to be alright."
"Of course you do," Twilight continued with the soft tone, "Because no matter how much trouble one of us is going through, they have the support of the rest of us."
Applejack and Twilight soon hugged each other, with the others looking into their little hug. Rainbow interrupted with: "Did we miss anything important?"
Twilight and AJ let go of each other, with Applejack replying "Nah, you didn't miss anythin'. Come on, y'all. We got a friend to visit."
The Mane 5 continued on their walk to get to the hospital.
It was around 5:30 PM when the Mane 5 got to the hospital, and upon entering the building, they were greeted by none other than the Pie family. Each of them were there, awaiting to see what happened to their daughter. The father, Igneous Rock and the mother, Cloud Quartz had faces of uncertainty as if showing that they didn't know what happened to their energetic little filly. The three older sisters, Marble, Limestone, and Maud were also there to accompany their parents. Maud had the same blank stare and monotone voice she always accompanies, however, Marble and Limestone weren't emotionless. Marble was trying to keep her composure while she was holding back the urge to freak out, but Limestone was shedding tears like mad. "Oh, the Pie family." Applejack said to get their attention. The Pie family turned around and were greeted by the rest of the Mane 5.
"Oh..." Cloudy Quartz started the conversation with an unsure tone, "You must be Pinkie's friends, right?"
Rainbow jumped up in the air, and proudly proclaimed "The very same friends of your jumpy and joyful daughter!"
"Heh..." Igneous Rock stiffly laughed, "I've heard a lot about you from my daughter. Especially from you, Applejack."
Applejack blushed and replied with "Aw, shucks. It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Pie."
"It's Rock," Igneous corrected, "Igneous Rock."
"Oh, sorry." Applejack said with a disappointed tone.
Marble and Limestone looked at Applejack with a big level of curiosity, with Marble asking "Do you know what's wrong with Pinkie?"
"Yeah," Limestone contributed to the conversation "We got a call from the phone saying that Pinkie got really sick."
The Mane 5 looked at each other in confusion. Soon, a few seconds of silence eluded over the crowd, until Rarity broke the silence by asking "You have a phone?"
"Ah, yes," Cloudy Quartz answered, "We're 'getting with the times,' as you ponies call it, and got a working phone. We got a call as soon as Pinkie was brought here."
"We've been waiting here for an hour," Marble added, "Nothing on what's wrong with Pinkie right now."
"She's got Diabetes." Twilight answered.
The Pie family looked at each other as if Twilight was speaking to them in an alien language. Maud understood what Twilight was saying, and with the monotone voice accompanying her, she put it very bluntly, "Pinkie's gotten down with an illness that needs to be looked over." The Pie family then nodded their heads. "Oh, hey Maud," Fluttershy said with an excited tone, "How was that trip of yours?"
"Okay." Maud answered with the usual monotone voice and blank stare. "I'm on my vacation."
"Yeah..." Rainbow subtly asked and with an unsure tone, followed with, "Weren't expecting your sister to be in... you know..."
"No, not at all."
After catching up with each other, the doctor finally came out with the now obvious news to the Pie family and the Mane 5.
Surprised to find out that everypony knew about Pinkie's condition, the doctor basically said, "Wow, of course with the princess of friendship here, finding out what went wrong is as simple as asking her."
Twilight blushed a bit, and basically replied, "Well... I read a lot about, well, everything in my free time."
"Oh, wonderful!" The doctor came back with. Applejack, wanting to see her sick cousin, asked politely, "Sorry to be a little rude here, but can we see Pinkie now?"
"Of course. She's just down the hall."
The Mane 5 and the Pie family walked down the narrow hallway until they entered Room 34. Upon entering the room, laid an unconscious Pinkie Pie, with her cotton candy-like mane deflated, and almost skeletal-like body. She had wires connected all over her, to her mouth and nose for breathing, and tubes connecting to her legs. All of the ponies, even Maud, were shocked to see Pinkie look so zombie-like. Fluttershy and Rarity started to burst into tears. The Pie family were also crying, with Marble and Limestone running to look at their slowly recovering sister. Marble touched Pinkie's front right leg, and Limestone, like nearly everypony else, started to cry. Rainbow looked at Twilight's scared expression, and Rainbow questioned it, "Twilight, I thought you saw ponies like this."
"I..." Twilight started, while holding tears back, "I didn't. It's scary seeing Pinkie in this state, even if you know she's going to be okay."
Applejack, broke the worst. She took a good look at her cousin, and pounced on the doctor. She needed an answer: "Is she dyin'?" Applejack said with a scared tone.
"No, no, she's not." The doctor answered with the same scared tone.
"You're lyin'! She's dyin' right in front of us!" AJ was losing her cool in a matter of seconds. Before the carnage got worse, Twilight stopped AJ again with her magic. "Applejack," Twilight started with a stern voice, "I told you that Pinkie's going to be fine. She's not dying, okay?"
Twilight put Applejack down with her magic, and Applejack broke into a waterfall of tears. Maud stepped up to AJ, and put what Twilight said bluntly, "Pinkie's going to be fine. Stop your worrying."
AJ wiped the tears off her face, and walked back to the seemingly lifeless Pinkie. After looking at Pinkie for a few seconds, trying to comprehend what she's seeing, Applejack turned around and simply said, in a calm tone, "Go."
The Pie family and Mane 4 all said "WHAT?" at once, and at the same time.
"I want to stay with Pinkie for the night." AJ answered. "I know she's goin' to be fine, but I want to keep her company just in case she gets scared."
Marble and Limestone stepped up to this as well. "I'm with Applejack," Limestone proclaimed, "We want to give Pinkie support. She is our little sister after all." Marble nodded in agreement.
"I'm staying, too." Maud chimed in.
"But, Maud," Igneous started, "We need somepony to help us with the harvest tonight."
"Get Mom to help, Dad. My sister needs us."
After looking over the situation, the Pie family and Mane 4 agreed to let Applejack and the others watch Pinkie.
"Alright, Applejack," Twilight said, "You win. We'll let you look over Pinkie. If she wakes up, stay calm and don't over-hype her."
All 4 ponies nodded, and the rest left the room, letting the other 4 ponies to watch over Pinkie Pie.
It was 6 hours after everypony left, and Pinkie was still out like a light. During that 6 hour period, the Pie family got the blankets and pillows for the three sisters, and Apple Bloom gave Applejack's blanket and pillow to her. They also gave them some mattresses. Applejack, Maud, Marble, and Limestone all looked over Pinkie, and while doing so, had some interesting conversations. One stuck out from the rest:
"So," Applejack started the conversation, sitting on a stool, "How's it like livin' on a rock farm?"
"Oh," Marble started to answer, "It's not too bad. I mean, we get to move rocks around, and eat them, and study them. Maud loves to study rocks."
"I got that from when she visited us for the first time. What else goes on there?"
"Nothing much," Limestone answered, "We only just got a phone, and other than a few board games, nothing happens there."
"Playing hide and seek with boulder does bring some level of excitement," Maud said with the normal tone she accompanies, "I always hide him in my pocket, though."
"Yeah," Limestone replied, "And it's not funny."
"I don't mind it too much," Marble said, "It shows us that Maud likes to prank us."
"...Uh," Applejack muttered with confusion, "Right, so, I have to ask: Why does Pinkie look so much different than the rest of ya?"
Maud and the others looked at each other, with Marble and Limestone making eyes of guilt, even though they didn't need to be guilty. Applejack noticed the eyes:
"Oh, you don't want to talk about that?"
"No," Limestone started, "It's not that we don't want to tell you."
"If that's not the case, then what's the problem?"
"Nothing!" Marble shouted, "She's a Pie like the rest of us!"
Applejack's eyes widened, and knew something was up. "Somethin's up, and y'all aren't tellin' me 'bout it."
"We don't know," Maud answered, "Mom said that Pinkie was just born that way."
Applejack still wasn't sure how to take it: "I don't know if I'm willin' to buy that."
"Maud speaks the truth," Marble replied, "Mom did say that Pinkie was born that way. We don't know why, but we've accepted her for who she is."
"She never liked working on the farm, either," Limestone added, " She would always have the least amount of rocks harvested, and would usually skip dinner for something more of her liking, like cake or candy."
"Pinkie eats healthy food, too." Applejack replied.
"Yes," Maud added, "but she was miserable on that farm. She used to go on and on about how she wanted to move from the farm, and look where she is now."
"But what about that rock necklaces we made for you, Maud?"
"Pinkie always loved some of the traditions, especially the rock candy necklace one."
"Oh, really? Why did she love some of the traditions?"
"Because it involved being a family together," Marble added, "Pinkie loved us three sisters, and to an extent, Mom and Dad."
"To an extent?" Applejack asked with confusion.
"Pinkie never got along fully with Mom and Dad," Limestone answered, "They always gave her a hard time about not doing her work, to eat her dinner, and usually grounded her."
"So, she only loved you?"
"Yeah, she did." Marble said while hanging her head down.
"That's..." Applejack started, "That's really terrifyin'. I know what it's like not to get alon' with family sometimes, but I never thought Pinkie would have this type of problem."
Limestone did a soft yawn to show that she was tired.
"I think we should get some sleep," Applejack said, getting up from the stool that she was sitting on, "We've been lookin' over Pinkie for over 6 hours now, and we better hit the hay for when she wakes up. Don't wanna look and sound like grogs, am I right?"
"Yeah," Maud agreed, "Time to get shut eye, girls."
Maud, Limestone and Marble got their pillows and blankets and wrapped them around themselves. They went to sleep just as soon as they put their heads on the pillows, and laid their bodies on the mattresses. Applejack, however, wasn't so easy to fall asleep. After trying to sleep for an hour, she got up and took a look at Pinkie Pie. She walked towards Pinkie, and put a hoof on Pinkie's head. Quietly and softly, Applejack whispered to Pinkie:
"Hey, Pinkie? Can ya hear me? It's your cousin, Applejack. I just want ya to know that everypony's supportin' ya here. Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, heck, even your own family is here with me. Maud, Marble, and Limestone are here for ya, and so is your cousin. I hope ya wake up sometime soon, because we all want ya to get better." Applejack then gave a little kiss to Pinkie, and moved her blanket, pillow, and mattress to be near Pinkie. Applejack then closed her eyes, and drifted into a deep sleep.
