Long ago, during the events of Tirek's rampage, Princess Twilight and her friends opened the crystal chest of the Tree of Harmony. The power of the Elements of Harmony endowed the princess and the other bearers with the power to restore order in Equestria, but something extra came out of the chest as well. The power of the elements not only changed the mane 6, but some power from the chest, a large portion that couldn't be contained, changed the world itself. Creatures of wonderous powers began appearing across Equestria and the other nations of the equine world. These creatures, new to this world, became known as Pokemon.

3 years have passed since then, and a new trend among young foals has arisen. At the age of 12, children are allowed to leave on their own Pokemon journeys across their home region, to hone their skills dealing with Pokemon, whether it be battles, contests, or championships.

Button Mash's 12th birthday is here, and he has one goal in mind for his journey: To become a Pokemon Trainer and win the Equestrian League.
