Pony and the Beast: a Fluttercord Story

by The Fluttercord Shipper

First published

Fluttercord version of Beauty and the Beast.

Discord cannot return back to the queens' kingdom of Maris without having a pure heart. When Fluttershy runs into his castle in the Everfree Forest in search of a calmer life, Discord finds his chance to get back into the town to conquer it and have revenge on everypony that has ever made fun of him. If he fails after two months, he will meet a fate worse than death. Can Discord convince Fluttershy to be his "friend" or will his plans be changed?

The Beast

A long time ago, there was a lord who loved the world and the ponies that lived in the small town of Maris. He was filled with unlimited magic that would rival both the queen's magic. The only problem was that all ponies looked down on him for his appearance.

One day, he was strolling through the streets of Maris, when he overheard a little filly whisper to her mom, " Mommy, what is that thing?"

"Shhhh. Sweetie don't say that," the mare covered the filly's mouth.

"But it's so ugly!" she pointed her hoof directly at the creature. "And scary!"

Something inside him snapped at that comment. Ponies have always made fun of him, but this one hurt. Then, a thought came to him. Is that how people see me as? A monster?! If that is how they see me, then that is what I am.

"A MONSTER, HUH!!" He bent down on all four of his mismatched limbs, the fur on his back stood up like a cat's. The foal was paralyzed with fear, but decided to run, only to intimidate the beast further.

"DIAMOND TIARA!" The mare screamed as she witnessed her daughter get turned into a glass of chocolate milk to which he drank the glass .

"You monster!" the mare ran to him as he threw the floating mass of chocolate milk creating an explosion. "You're heart is as ugly as you're face, you hideous freak. You shouldn't belong on this Earth."

"Oh, I'm not a monster..." he said calmly in a low whisper and a devious grin, inching closer and closer to the mare.

"Then tell me..." the mare looked up with red, puffy eyes from the sobbing of losing her sweet Diamond Tiara. "What are you?"

Her eyes widened as he snapped his fingers, turning her into a sort of cloud of cotton candy.

"I'm Discord," he whispered closely to the cloud as he laughed like he never did before. In that last second, he felt like this is what he was meant to be.

His moment shortly ended when he was surrounded by unicorn guards and a magic shield that not even he could break. Queen Celestia and Luna faced him which angered expressions on their faces.

Celestia started, "For the murdering of two ponies-"

"WE BANISH THEE TO THE EVERFREE FOREST UNTIL THOU HAS A PURE HEART!!!" interrupts Queen Luna, using her royal voice that was heard around the city of Maris.

Discord laughed thinking about it, "Me have a pure heart. HA! Fat chance!" He spat at them and began to head towards the forest with his two followers, but he decided to say one more thing. "I will come back and when I do. Everything you own. Everything you love. Will be mine."

Celestia was actually frightened with how serious he was with taking all Maris. She moved closer to her sister and decided to use the royal voice, "Get out of our city before we finish you here and now!"

In the Everfree, he wandered before realizing he had powers. He wanted to see how far he can take his powers.

"I can't believe you got us banished!" Rarity complained.

"Shut it Rarity! They had it coming!" replied the other mare, Applejack.

"What?" He looked over at his castle he built wearing a construction outfit inspecting the base. His castle was green with purple polka dots. It seemed to hover just a couple inches off the ground. "Now we can live without any insults and not deal with those queens."

The two mares looked at eachother, unsure of what they got themselves into. Oh well, what they knew is that they loved their dear friend. Nopony knew Discord like they did. They know that he can be pushed to his limits, but he was their friend, for he changed their lives from terrible to safe.

Rarity was very high in the fashion business, but after she made some scarves that were not in season, she was chased by a mob of fashionistas. They shaved her luscious purple hair and her face held a red hue. Nopony wanted what she had to offer, for all knew of her one failure and what had happened to her, but she secretly had a heart of diamond as pure as her once white coat which was filled with generosity.

As for Applejack, she was the sister of the town hero, Big Macintosh. After he saved the town for the fifth time, Applejack was set on high expectations from everypony. The would ask Why can't you be like you're brother? After messing up in the Applebuck Season, she was shunned by society, even shunned by her own family. She decided to run away, but she couldn't find anywhere to go. She was stuck and couldn't bare the feeling of leaving her family, but Discord found her and Rarity as they lived in a small house, until Discord got banished today.

Discord made both mares their rooms and made sure to put anything essential that was in any castle, a dungeon, garden, the mares worked as servants (which they enjoyed), and a ballroom. They lived in isolation for about the next two years until one day where their lives were changed forever.

Author's Notes:

Yes, I killed off Diamond Tiara. (I don't care what you say. I think she's pure evil!) Third, let me know in the comments which pony you would want to see as who. Like I was planning to make Big Mac's, Gaston's, assistant Applebloom.

The Beauty

Out of all the single mares of Maris, there was one that all the stallions wanted. That mare was Fluttershy. Unlike most ponies, she had a natural beauty with her long, soft pink mane and a simple blue dress that matched her sapphire eyes. Some stallion would bet their friends to her out. The problem was that she was extremely shy, so she spent her time in isolation with her animals. Most stallions wanted her, especially Big Macintosh (the town hero and brother of Applejack).

He was walking with his henchpony and little sister, Applebloom, when he saw Fluttershy strolling through town square with groceries for her animal friends.

He nudged Applebloom. "Do ya see that pony?"

The filly turned her head towards the mare. "Miss Fluttershy?"

He nodded his head. "Eye up, ya know, I've been thinkin' that the two of us just seem to add up if ya know what I mean."

Applebloom tilted her head in confusion, making. Big Mac groan. "What I'm sayin' is that the best lookin' mare should deserve the best lookin' stallion, right?"

The small pony nodded her head in agreement. "Of course ya deserve a mare as pretty as her."

"Then it's settled. I'll make her my bride and I will be hers and she will be mine. We'll have many strappin' young colts, just like me!"

Big Macintosh puffed up his chest and strut over to Fluttershy as he watched two mares swoon over him.

"Isn't he the cutest!!!" Pinkie began daydreaming about her and Big Mac together when Carrot Top interrupted her.

"Wait, why is he going to that Fluttershy mare?" Carrot Top pointed her hoof towards them.

"WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Pinkie exclaimed as she slammed Carrot Top out of the way to see it for yourself.

"Howdy Fluttershy!" The stallion called as Fluttershy backed away, only to trip over and have Big Mac catch her.

"Oh h-hi Big Ma-Macintosh," she blushed, thinking about how stupid she probably looked. She then realized that she was still in his hooves and started to back away. "S-sorry! I'll just leave."

"No wait!" He reached out to grab her hoof, only to have her pull it away. "I just want to ask ya something."

Fluttershy turned around. "What?"

Big Mac stood up. "Well, because you're the prettiest mare of Maris," Fluttershy blushed in embarrassment and annoyance. "and I'm the most handsome stallion, you shall marry me." Fluttershy stiffened as he pulled out a ring. In the corner of her eye, she saw. Pinkie Pie trying to charge towards her, only to be held back by Carrot Top.

"On my," Fluttershy didn't really like him because of his big ego, so how could she be his wife? "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I have to turn down your proposal."

Big Mac stood there with a dumbfounded look on his face. Nopony ever said no to him. EVER!!!

When he snapped back into reality, he said quietly, "No?"

Fluttershy started to worry that Big Mac REALLY didn't want her to say no, which he did. "I'm so-sorry, but I ha-have to say n-no." She started her way towards home, when, again Big Mac blocked her way.

"Listen Fluttershy," he held her hoof so she couldn't leave. "Nopony ever said no to me, and now that I'm hearin' it, I don't think I like it!"

"I'm sorry but-" He didn't listen and continued.

"Come on now, we're perfect for each other. It's like we were meant to be. So I will ask one more time. Will ya marry me?"

"I'm sorry, but my answer is no!" She screamed with all her might, but to Big Macintosh, it was a low whisper. Fluttershy ran back to her house across town, leaving Big Mac standing there in frustration.

He trotted over to Applebloom with a serious expression on his face. "Sorry it didn't work out big brother. Maybe you could have Miss Pinkie."

"But she is not even close to being as beautiful as Fluttershy!" He started to sound like a little colt. "Applebloom."

The filly answered, "What?"

"I will make her my bride whether she likes it or not."

Author's Notes:

I don't care if 25 people hate my story, It'll keep on going.

The Castle

When Fluttershy got home, she started considering what Big Mac had asked.

She started talking to herself. "Why would he want to marry me? He called me the prettiest mare in Maris. Am I really that pretty? I don't even like him that much. What do you think Angel Bunny?"

No response.

She turned around and realized her precious bunny was nowhere to be seen. "Angel, where are you." She checked in the critters' playroom, her bedroom, and the tree Angel loves to sit on. He was gone. She started to cry. What if she never found her baby? She looked up to find some small footprints in the soft dirt. There was hope.

She spent about an hour following the footprints, hoping she doesn't run into a cockatrice that could turn her to stone or a manticore that can tear her to shreds or even a humongous hydra! She better find Angel and fast.

She looked through the trees to find her bunny tangled in vines and surrounded by timberwolves. She knew that her Angel was done for, but she screamed at the top of her lungs, "ANGEL!!!!!"

She heard the whimpering of her sweet bunny that slowly stopped as she was sobbing over the loss of her bunny. She fell to her knees and buried her face in her hooves as it started to rain. She needed to get out of the rain. She turned around ready to run back home, but after wandering through the Everfree for an hour, she forgot her way back. She needed to find a place to shelter herself from the rain.

Fluttershy walked where Queen Luna's moonlight shone through the trees as her hooves trudged through the mud as it caked the ends of her dress and hooves.

"I'm lost," she sat down on the mud, staining the blue dress she wore even more, and cried. What was she to do now? Her bunny was gone, she's already having trouble being different, and Big Mac's proposal were piling on her is too much. She needs to get away from it.

The raining stopped as she gazed at Luna's stars that shone brightly. She remembered how the librarian knew all the constellations, Twilight was it? Oh well, she didn't know her that much.

Fluttershy's hopes were lifted when she saw a light shine in the distance. She ran towards it, but slowed down her pace and tilted her head in confusion as she saw its "uniqueness" of the small castle that hovered in front of her. It was purple with green polka dots.

Fluttershy softly knocked on the door. "Um..... h-hello?" She backed away, but she remembered that she NEEDED a place to stay. "Is anypony home?"

The door opened as she saw a sweet unicorn with a white coat. She seemed to have big bruises on her face and her mane was purple, but it looked as if it was cut. "Hello dear, what may I help you with?"

"I'm so sorry to bother you, but I really need a place to stay. I'm sorry if that's too much for you. I'll leave." She quickly turned away, but the mare took a hold of her hoof.

"Nonsense dear. I'm sure we can get you a room, some extra clothes, and maybe a bath." Fluttershy didn't take any offense though. She knew what the unicorn was talking about. "Oh I'm sorry, where are my manners. I'm Rarity." She held her hoof out for Fluttershy to shake it. "And you are?"

"My name is... Fluttershy."

"Oh what a lovely name. Come inside!"

They walked though the hallway. As they bumped into the other mistress of the castle. She was orange with a blonde ponytail that hung down her shoulder.

"Ah Applejack! This here is Fluttershy! She will be staying with us for the night." She turned to Fluttershy. "Fluttershy this is Applejack."

"Oh my! It's so nice to meet you," she shared a firm hoofshake with the country mare as she turned around.

Applejack pulled Rarity close to her. "Rarity can I talk to ya?"

"But of course Applejack!" They trotted down the hallway out of Fluttershy's hearing range.

"She's not supposed to be here." She whispered close to Rarity.

"I know, but she has nowhere else to go and she is just so kind and gentle, I thought she might be the key to getting Discord a 'pure' heart. Ponies seeing Fluttershy with him would think he is soft and nice and all that stuff."

Applejack loved the idea. "Great idea Rarity! Now all we have to do is get Discord to see her and keep her here forever." They gave each other a hoofbump as they approached the small mare.

"Come on Fluttershy," she guided her to the fire to get warmer.

While she was warming up, the two mares rushed over to Discord's room to spread the news of their new visitor.

Author's Notes:

Yes! I got in a new chapter. *does happy dance* Sorry if I haven't been updating, but it's my end of the school year exams.

The Visitor

"YOU DID WHAT?!" His voice echoed through the castle's halls, creating a small earthquake throughout the room.

"Now Discord," Rarity tried to talk some sense into him. "Applejack and I have a most exquisite plan that involves her being here."

He thought about it, pushed away from writing in his journal, and waved his claw for her to continue. "And that is?"

Applejack came into the conversation. "We think that with this pegasus, it will clear your image as a monster and all the ponies of Maris, including the queens, will think that you've changed."

Discord smirked at the idea. "And I could still be as chaotic as I want to be as long as that mare will stay in my defense."

They shared a small victory laugh as they went back to where the pegasus was warming up by the fire.

When they got to the fireplace she was left at, they were surprised to see that she was curled up asleep on the rug. The light of the fire illuminated her small face to show a small smile spread across it. Her dress was still covered in mud and seemed to have hardened across the hem. Discord didn't admit it out loud, but she looked pretty cute wrapped up asleep. She looked so peaceful.... too peaceful. Why not have some fun with this mare?
"WHO IS THIS MARE ON MY RUG!?" He bellowed, waking her up.
Fluttershy jumped up, at first a bit off with his appearance, but then showered him with apologies. "Oh my goodness I'm so sorry. I just needed a place to stay. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to I'll go. I'm so incredibly sorry."
He came closer to her. "WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!"

Fluttershy stuttered, "I-I'm sorry I-"

"I SAID WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!" He was having so much fun messing with this mare.

The mare hid behind her mane and in a low whisper she said, "It's F-Fluttershy."

"EXCUSE ME?!" He really did want to know what her name was. She was just so much fun to mess with.

She said it much louder. "It's Fluttershy."

He straightened up and shook her hoof with a warm smile on his face and laughed heartily. "Pleasure to have you here Miss Fluttershy. I'm Discord!"

Fluttershy was surprised by how he took her hoof and how sincere his voice sounded.

"I'm sorry to ask, but could I p-please stay here?"

"Of course dear!" He eyed her dress and the mud that caked it. "Rarity!"

The white mare came over with a smile. "Yes Discord?"

He pointed to Fluttershy. "This mare needs a clean dress. Also, clean her up. A mare as beautiful as her simply cannot look so dreadful with that muddy dress."

He didn't lie when he said she beautiful though. Something about her was alluring to him, but he just shook it off.

Fluttershy blushed. She was used to being called beautiful but it meant more coming from him. The way he said it made her feel like he really meant it, but she knew she was just being silly.

"Yes sir," She took Fluttershy to down the hall to get her a new dress and a bath.

Discord looked at her one last time and turned to Applejack. "

"You think she bought it?" He asked.

"Pretty sure!" She gave him an assuring smile.

Author's Notes:

There! Sorry it took so long. I had MAJOR typing issues. Tell me if I should do a scene with Fluttershy and Rarity in the bath, because in the show, they always had spa days and I love their interactions.

The Night

After an hour or so, Fluttershy came out in a soft turquoise nightgown. Her soft, pink, hair was in a braid that draped across her shoulder. She walked into the main room to be greeted by Discord who had already changed into a linen shirt and some pants.

She whispered softly, "D-Discord?"

He grumbled, put on a fake smile, and turned around. "Hello, dear," He came to her. "Hungry?"

Her stomach grumbled at the mention of food. "Sure, thank you."

He walked her to the dining room where Rarity and Applejack were waiting with some salads. He pulled out a seat for her and handed her a salad as they ate in silence.

The hall was disturbingly silent with the occasional sound of the fork hitting the ceramic plate. Discord didn't like silence and decided to bond to build "trust".

He cleared his throat, getting the small pegasus' attention. "So, I've heard that you are good with animals."

Her face seemed to cringe at the mention of animals. "Yes, that is my special talent." She looked down and took a bite of her salad. "Oh and thank you for the salad!"

He got a bit curious at her reaction of his remark. "Is something wrong dear?"

She looked up and quickly wiped the tears out of her eyes, putting on a smile as fake as Discord's. "No, nothing is wrong."

He shrugged. "Ok then."

They finished their food and went off the separate ways to each of their rooms to sleep as Discord put another entry in his journal.

Back in Maris, Big Macintosh was heading to Fluttershy's cottage for his second attempt for his proposal, when he halted to a stop at the door to knock.

No answer.

He knocked again, this time louder.

Still no answer.

He was up to here with this stupid but beautiful mare and kicked down the door where he was greeted by animals, but no Fluttershy.

He went back outside to see paw and hoof prints heading into the Everfree Forest where the home of the mysterious beast lives.

"BUCKING FLUTTERSHY!!!!!!!!!!!"

Author's Notes:

Finally a chapter! A short chapter, but one at the least. So YAY!!!

The Queens

"WE MUST GET HER BACK!!!!!" The red stallion yelled rudely at the three regal queens. They sneered in return before regaining their composure and replied in his demand.

"We will send our guards to inspect the area of the forest and search for the mare." The eldest one replied.

"But what about the monster in the forest?" Big Macintosh inquired.

She and her sister, Luna, remembered the beast for those previous years and the words still echo through her head.
I will come back and when I do. Everything you own. Everything you love. Will be mine

She knew that the small pony was with the dangerous beast, but what could she do? She decided that she needs to solely get rid of the problem itself.
"I shall write him a letter to release your frien-"

"FIANCE!!" He interrupted.
The third queen, Cadance, looked at him, puzzled. "Oh sorry sir, when are you getting married?"
He looked at her with pride. "Tomorrow."
The three royals gave him a look of sympathy when Luna got an idea, "What if thou uses the spell of gem finding to find his love's engagement ring? Is she wearing it?"
"Nope, I haven't really proposed to her yet," The stallion answered.

The three queens lost their calm postures as they broke into laughter.

"How would you know if she'll say yes?" The queen of love asked.

The stallion flipped his orange hair and replied, "I just know. Any mare would want to be with be."

They snickered at his answer thinking if she was really better with the monster than this self-centered stallion and sent the guards out to search for the lost mare, Fluttershy.

Author's Notes:

Yes, a new chapter! I'm happy with it.

The Patrol

Morning arrived as did the royal guards. The castle was silent with Queen Celestia's sun rising in the the air, the light shone through the windows. All the residents of the small castle in the forest awoke. Starting with Discord.

He heard the clanking of the metallic armor the soldiers wore as he scurried to the base of his home, bumping into a couple tables and knocking over some of the decor here and there, to which he turned the entire place invisible. He heard the hoofsteps of his new guest and couldn't help but chuckle at her messy hair to which she tried to smooth down, only to make it get worse.

They shared a small laugh as her eyes turned toward the window Discord was looking out of and noticed a particular red stallion. Startled, she hid quickly behind her host.

He turned toward her, confused on why she was curling behind him.

She quickly backed away and blushed. "Oh.. I'm sorry, but it was just that stallion."

Discord got worried. What if she liked this stallion? He wouldn't stand a chance against him, but this is all for a plan, right?

He again shook off the thought, "Do you have a thing for him?" It sounded embarrassing to ask about a mare's love life and found himself blushing of embarrassment, as did Fluttershy.

She hid behind her wild hair, "Of course not, it's the other way around."

Discord was intrigued by what this mare had to say about the pony outside. He sat down, crossing his mismatched legs, "Tell me more."

While she told Discord about Big Macintosh proposing, he seemed to be entranced and listened to every word with the highest interest.

When Fluttershy finished her story, Discord had an idea to keep her here long enough to get her on their side. "How about you stay here until he gives up on his request?"

Fluttershy was uncertain about his question, "Do you mean stay at your residence?"

Discord smiled greatly, "Of course! My two servants can cater to your every need and you will be safe from that ungrateful stallion"

The pegasus then worried about her friends at her cottage. "What about my animals?"

Discord thought about it. Animals? Should I let her bring them? No, they will only pull attention away from us.

"I'm sorry dear, but Miss Rarity is allergic to animal fur. I'm sure they will be fine." He lied as he saw her face fall. He needed a way to turn her attention away from those animals of hers. "Here, I'll make some breakfast and I could give you a tour later."

To his relief, he saw her face lighten up as they walked down the hallway.

The Letter

After eating a filling breakfast, Rarity and Applejack went to clean the dishes. No more guards were patrolling as Discord and Fluttershy went outside.

In the daytime, the Everfree Forest looks almost enchanting. Fluttershy went to go look at the flowers and played with the animals that filled the trees as she hummed a lovely song.

Discord, however, quickly noticed the letter the queen wrote pinned on a large tree. He looked over his shoulder to make sure the pegasus wasn't looking his way. He opened it to read the following....

Discord,

Me and my fellow queens have been told that a mare named Fluttershy has disappeared into the Everfree Forest and has been missing for the night. We know you are responsible for the missing mare. If the mare is not brought back within two months time, your fate shall end up being a body of stone, so we can bring the poor prisoner back.

Signed,

Queen Celestia

Discord reread the letter, and at first, got worried, but he knew that this mare would change his fate forever. He could either be "good" or be trapped in stone, giving all the more reason to keep this mare. He needs to get her on his side and fast.

He turned to the pegasus and waved with a smile. To "bond" some more, he went to see what she was up to.

"What are you doing?" He asked, scaring her and the animals surrounding her. "Oops! Sorry, dear."

She gave him a forgiving smile and turned back to her animals. "It's fine. I was just feeding the smaller animals." She turned back to the forest animals. To which Discord got lost in his thoughts.

Now she will spend her time with these animals! I have to turn her attention away and fast!

He snapped his talons, turning the animals eyes to a bloody red as they started to turn against Fluttershy and prepared themselves to attack. The mare let out a small shriek as she began to run away from the creatures. This gave Discord a chance to be the hero as he swooped in to grab Fluttershy and race back into the castle.

Once he was able to shut the door and add another lock to the already padded door. He could faintly hear the rapid heartbeat of the mare he "saved" as her legs gave out under her from the shock to which he went to catch her. Discord felt the mare's forelegs wrap around his neck, giving his cheeks a small red tint.

"Thank you," she whispered before letting go with a small blush on her own cheeks as she went over to the kitchen to talk to Applejack and Rarity while they cleaned some dishes, leaving Discord comprehending the last couple minutes.

"What just happened?"

The Tour

Discord was standing there for about five minutes, just going over his memory of what happened. He shook out of his trance to eavesdrop on anything Fluttershy may be saying to Rarity and Applejack.

"...and then he grabbed me and took me away from those dreadful animals," Fluttershy explained to which the two mares gave a small 'mhmm' to every sentence she said, but Discord was fixed on every word she said.

"She really trusts me. Ha! Hysterical! She'll just keep thinking that. Poor dear, she doesn't know what she's doing at all." He kept listening, but Rarity had gotten into the conversation as well.

"He seems like a real hero, wouldn't you think?" The mare stiffened a chuckle just thinking about Discord being a hero with a name like Captain Goodguy.

Fluttershy was completely oblivious to the mare's sarcasm. "He was! Almost like a knight in shining armor! A real hero!"

Discord stood back a little. "Somepony actually thinks I'm good? How could that be with my appearance and my nature?"

He was growing tiresome of listening and decided to barge in. He charged through the kitchen doors. "Hello dears!"

"Hi," he looked down to see Fluttershy at his feet looking up with a cute little smile plastered on her face. He could've sworn he heard a SQUEE whenever she smiled. That smile seemed to slightly warm that stone heart of his.

He bent down to her level. "You've already been here for a day, and since you will be staying with us for Celestia knows how long, so I will be escorting you through the castle."

"Of course, I would love to," Fluttershy slowly walked by her host's side.

The first room was Rarity and Applejack's rooms which were both decorated with fabrics and gems for Rarity's and medals, apple-themed decoration, and many farm tools for the outside gardens for Applejack's. The hallways seemed to go on forever, even though the castle looked as big as the Golden Oaks Library.

Next, they stopped over at Discord's living quarters which were full of the oddest stuff.

"What do you think about my living style? Surely you think this is strange and weird," he hoped he could at least be a fair bit intimidating with his surroundings.

Fluttershy wasn't how he thought she would act, but was looking at every single detail with awe. "I love it. It's strange but refreshing." She of course thought it was weird, but she was too grateful to ever point out any flaws of his.

Last, they stopped at a stairway that leaded to a room. Fluttershy started to bring her hoof up to the first step to which Discord instinctively threw his long body in front of her to block. She quickly stepped back and almost ran away, but did not want to look rude.

Discord quickly softened back into his goody-two hooves as he saw the legitimate fear in her eyes.

"Sorry dear," He conjured a feather duster to brush her down. "I just don't want anypony going in there."

"Why-"

"It's off limits," he quickly snapped, interrupting her.

Days passed as each stayed in their respective rooms, thinking about each other, occasionally passing each other in the hallways.

Discord was done with the silence. He had about a month and a half to have her by his side or else he will meet a fate worse than death. He could only imagine staying in stone watching the world from a case of rock for am eternity. He went into her room as she was laying on her bed, waving her hoof in front of her muzzle as a way to entertain herself. He couldn't help but chuckle at her silliness.

"Having fun?" He chuckled as Fluttershy jumped behind the bed as he seemed to pop up closer to her bed.

The small pony squeaked as she fell off her bed only to be clumsily caught by Discord before hitting the floor.

"Thanks," she muttered, blushing in embarrassment.

"No problem dearest," he did a very overdramatic bow as he heard the mare giggle. He flopped onto the other side of Fluttershy's unusually large bed. "Soooooooo.... You've lived with us for about a week or two, and yet.." He turned to see his guest's face tilted in confusion. "I hardly know a thing about you besides animals and that incredibly rude stallion."

She looked back at him with a softer expression. "Oh.... well..." She sorted through her kind to think of anything else. "I've never really had a friend before, until a little while ago."

His ears perked up in interest. "Is that so," He moved a bit closed. Discord really hoped she didn't miss anyone she left. "And who praytell are these friends?"

Fluttershy stifled a giggle. "It's you, Rarity, and Applejack, silly."

Discord leaned back in surprise. "Really? Me?" Could this possibly mean she's on his side, but to finally have a friend.

"Of course!" She responded. "Why wouldn't I?"

Discord became a little self-conscious, but he couldn't think of a better sob story than his life. "Well.. it's just.." He made his best little puppy dog eyes. "It's just that nopony has ever shown me any kindness as you did. They would run away before I could hello. Does my appearance scare everypony?" He quickly realized that what he said sounded so cheesy, but before he could change his choice of wording, Fluttershy was already answering with an even cheesier response.

"Discord, you're an amazing person, despite what others might think. You're kind enough to let ponies stay at your house, you're magic does wonderful things, and even though you're 'different', you're perfect just the way you are." Her smile brought a feeling of security to the creature.

Discord wiped away a fake, but almost too real tear from the corner of his eye. "Thank you, dear. That was beautiful."

He pulled her into and hug and for the first time in his life... he felt happiness.

Discord snapped out of another one of his trances and stood back up in a very stiff position. "I must leave now, but feel free to wander anywhere except that room I pointed out, okay?"

The mare shook her head in understanding as he left. She slowly, but silently flew out of her room to see where he was going and saw that he was heading towards that room. As he opened the door she caught a glance of what was in the forbidden room. It seemed there was just a desk with the essential stationery such as quills and ink. On top of the desk was a thick journal to which Discord opened up and began to pick up the colorful quill. What he was writing, she didn't know, but it must be important since she wasn't allowed and it seemed he was putting all his attention.

Fluttershy noticed Discord's ears had perked up and she hid on the other side of the door as he turned around.

"It's too risky."She thought, flying away. "Maybe one day, I can find out what he's writing about."

Discord turned back to writing in his journal.

".... we can come back again."

Author's Notes:

What could Discord be writing in that journal? I don't know.

The Bickering

Discord stepped out of his writing chambers to talk to his assistants about their guest, knowing they need to find out about these details.

"Hellooooooo ladies!" Discord shouted. "I have wonderful news about-"

He was promptly hushed by Rarity. "Do you want her to hear us?!" She took her hoof off of his mouth. "Now, sit down and we shall converse about the next stages of having her on our side."

He smiled deviously as he curled up in his special spot by the table. "Actually, I think I already have her on our side."

The both mares had their mouths open. "WHAT?!"

Rarity quickly gained her composure. "What exactly did she say dear?"

Discord went over his conversation with Fluttershy, picking out the most important details. "Well, she has decided that we are all her only friends." He stopped to think of more. "Also, she has no other ponies that would miss her besides that creepy stallion."

"Is that it?" Rarity asked.

Discord hesitated, but confessed. "Ummmmm... Miss Fluttershy might think I'm amazing and I think I might be growing fond of her company."

Rarity had a horrified look on her face. "Nononononononononononono! Discord you weren't supposed to actually like her! I can't believe you're ruining our chance to go back!" She eyed Discord as he groaned, snapping his fingers to make a couch appear for her to collapse on it.

Applejack groaned. "Ugh, Rarity we can have Fluttershy as our friends and take over Maris." She turned to the draconequus. "Right Discord?"

He looked at them. "Of course! It's not like having you two around has slowed down my process of taking over a major city."

"Was that sarcasm?"

"Nooooooo you're bickering is sweet music to my ears." The two crossed their hooves with their tongues sticking out to which Discord copied the gesture.

After, holding that pose for about a minute, Discord finally asked the key question he wanted to get to the second he started talking to his companions.

"So do you think we could start taking over Maris?"

Rarity quickly responded. "No. If you want to keep her as a friend- wait...." She paused. "What is your definition of 'fond'?"

The draconequus paused before discovering what she meant. His cheeks suddenly started to burn. "Oh no! Not like that!" He rubbed the back of his neck. "I-I just feel more comfortable with her around. That's all."

Rarity and Applejack looked at each other before giving up with a sigh.

Rarity got a great idea. "Maybe to bond more with Fluttershy, do something for her to spend more time with her alone."

"Oh.... okay I'll think of something." He rushed out to think of something, while he wrote a new entry in his journal.

The Next Day....

"Fluttershyyyyyyy?" Discord went down her hallway, hoping she was already awake. His eyes perked up when he heard her soft voice.

"I'm in my room."

He entered into her room to find her sitting on the stool of the vanity struggling to run her hairbrush through her tangled rosy mane. He chuckled as she tried to get through a knot through the stubborn hair only to have the brush get yanked out of her grasp and hang onto the bundle of hair.

He decided she wouldn't be able finish for quite a while, so maybe he could get things to go faster to show her his surprise. "Would you like some help?"

The little figure looked up with a red tint on her face. Fluttershy hoped she didn't take too much time. Maybe he was annoyed at how long it takes to untangle her hair.

"um..... y-yes please....."

Discord walked over to the vanity and poofed up his own stool to sit on as he took the hairbrush in his hand.

'How do I even brush through a mane?' He thought. He raised the brush to the top of her head and gave a little pull, making the mare yelp in pain and fall off of her own stool. When Discord saw what he did, he leaped out to hopefully catch her, but mostly ended up breaking most of her fall.

After settling back on the stool, he tried to attempt brushing through this mess. 'Okay, don't start at the top. What if I do this?' The draconequus moved the brush to the tips of long hair. He held his tail around her, making sure that if she fell, he could easily hold her in place. He went through the tips and realized that this was much better.

After about five minutes of mane brushing, the hair was now completely smooth. Discord ran his fingers through his finished work, admiring the new softness of it compared to the roughness it was a couple minutes ago.

Fluttershy hopped out of her stool and faced Discord. "Thank you so much for helping me. It's always such trouble to brush." She hesitated before she asked, "Could you help me when I need to brush it."

Discord was taken back a little. If he was to rule over a kingdom, he was not to be some pony's hairdresser! He looked back at her face as it slowly drooped to a frown.

"Never mind Discord," She hid behind her newly groomed mane. "It was a silly questions."

He felt a little sad that he upset her and thought. 'I could still be threatened if I use this to bond with her, right?'

"Wait Fluttershy!" She looked back up. "I didn't say I wouldn't. Of course I could help. Besides, I'm the King of Silly Questions?"

Her face immediately brightened up as she gave him a quick hug. "Thank you so much Discord. You've helped me so much! I must repay you somehow."

Discord held both of his mismatched arms up. "No need to repay me, but I think I could help you with something else."

With a snap of his fingers, bits of her hair levitated and wove into each other into a braid which was securely tied with a colorful string.

She gasped at his magic and flew up to him to give him yet another thank you.

Discord was satisfied with her happy attitude until she flew up to his face to give him a small kiss on his cheek. He backed away as his face was burned up with a fierce scarlet color.

"Woah, what was that for?" He said with an uneasy voice.

Fluttershy just giggled at him. "It's just a thank you." She looked around. "So what was it you were going to show me?"

He felt a bit odd, but then he remembered the surprise. "Oh of course, here I'll take you."

Discord picked up the fragile pony in his arms with a small blindfold on her tiny face to lead her to her surprise, hoping she will like it.
