I sat alone in the town hall, filing away papers. "Deed...deed...deed...request for public exchange...request for warrant...." I stopped filing and leaned back in my chair. I looked up and down the stack of papers. "Huuuh, bureaucracy, the truest double edged sword."

I turned up my music and adjusted my glasses. "Azar?" A rich voice caught my attention. "That is you...." Mayor Mare walked in and looked around. "You know you didn't have to come into work this weekend, right?"

I went back to filing. "I don't mind. The more I do now, the less we have to do Monday."

"That's...true enough I suppose." Things got quiet as I started shifting papers around. My music played softly in the back ground. "Where is this from?"

I looked up, finding her pointing at the radio. I stopped filing and turned my chair around. "Iran. Bit of a shit hole now."

"Oh...I'm sorry." Mayor Mare crossed her arms. "I didn't mean to bring it up."

"It's not your fault. Besides...I left when I was two." I finished with my papers and leaned back. "Anyways, did you need something?"

She tugged at her shirt. "Well...while you're here...can I ask you something?"

"Why not?"

Mayor mare took a breath. "Am I...attractive?"

I simply stared into space. "What?"

"As a human I mean...I know you're actually a human, so I thought I'd ask."

I took off my glasses and turned off my music. "Are you trying to tell me something?"

"What!? No- I mean...I never meant it like that. I just figured I'd ask you because we work together!"

I rolled my eyes and spun in my chair, tapping my hooves together as I went. "Well...hips aren't too wide, bust is reasonable, face is pleasing, I'd say yes, you're attractive enough." I stuck my leg out and caught my desk, stopping my spinning. "Are you worried about it?"

Mayor Mare leaned against the doorway to my office. "Well...I know humans aren't generally attracted to ponies...but...now--"

"Now you could figure out if I thought you were attractive?"

"No! I mean- yes, but no! I just meant humans in general!" I cocked an eyebrow at her backpedaling. "Oh stop it!"

I fixed my glasses. "Alright...but then I ask this. Am I attractive for a pony? I'd imagine it works both ways."

Mayor mare looked me up and down as I lounged in my plush chair. "You're not bad. Your beard is a little coarse, and your colors are vibrant. I like your cutie mark."

I looked at the scribe pencil on my flank. "Thanks I suppose. But that doesn't answer my question."

She got flustered, waving her hand. "What do you want me to say? I mean, aren't we both a little old to be playing this game?"

"Not really." I said with a laugh. "We're not old enough to be saying that yet." I rubbed my chin with my hoof. "Well, you're clothed...so...perhaps I could judge better otherwise."

The mayor let out a short laugh. "Maybe after dinner!"

"Then where are we eating?" I asked, jumping off my chair. "I'll pay."

"Are you serious?" She asked, just a hint of shock in her voice. "I mean...I'm sure I can find a place."

I let out a short chuckle. "Someplace with meat, you have to try lamb before you change back."

Mayor Mare looked a little unease at my suggestion. "I was friends with a sheep."

I shook my head. "You realize all the meat we eat here is imported, right?"

"Oh!" she let her arms fall to her sides. "Well it's still a bit strange."

"Try it, you won't call it strange." I ushered her out of my office. "I know a good place. Come along."

She walked slowly behind me. "Azar...is this a date?"

"A date? Maybe...or maybe it's just a lunch meeting. I'll leave it for you to decide." I added a toothy smile as I walked out of the town hall.
