The first major war that Equestria had ever seen was over 300 years, because the Emperor Black Beak wanted the land for its gems. The whole reason for this was because the Gryphon Emperor wanted to sell them to other nations for the wealth. After the battle had ended the land that it had been on was never the same. The soil was never harvestable and was coloured gray, from the massive amounts of megaspells that were used to keep the gryphon army at bay. For the first time in 300 years the Gryphon Empire has started an attack in the Northern Ice Mountains above Canterlot. The war had finally come to an end for the Gryphon military; there weren’t any more reinforcements, food or medical supplies. In the end the only the ponies had survived all of the carnage with few fatalities.

The air, heavy with the scent of blood and burnt bodies, was very thin for the Guards under the command of Black Slasher.  If it wasn’t for the Braveness of their commander, the small Regiment of Celestia’s Imperial Guard would not still have the same encampment that they have had for the past two months.

“To me soldiers of Equestria, stay by my side and you shall live to see another day of Celestia’s sun and Luna’s moon,” said Black Slasher. The soldiers had no choice but to do as he had said, so that he could put up a massive barrier, because the gryphons were using their own form of bombs that involved diving and releasing a cannon ball that had a three niche ole drilled in to it so that that they could put gun powder in it and then put a cork and string to light and then have it used as a fragmentation device.

“Here comes the first wave, hold strong,” said Slasher. Without expecting how big the volley the gryphons would throw at his barrier, he fell unconscious after the first wave from the exertion from holding up his barrier.

“Somepony, get Fire Light,” shouted one of the guards.

“Fire Light here, what do you need?”

“Get the Commander back to consciousness,” said one of the other guards.

After coming back to the world of the waking, Slashers response was “Wha, what happened to me?”

“You pasted out from exerting your magic to save us,” said one of the guards, the name of which he could not remember.

With his ears constantly flicking in all directions o stay aware of what’s going on he heard the slightest whistle of a gryphons flight. After physically preparing himself for another exertion of magic, Slasher sparked his horn for another barrier.

“Everypony down now,” Slasher yelled while putting up another barrier, to protect everypony. When the guards did like he had commanded a light overglow had formed upon his horn. With everypony on the ground, he cast his barrier spell putting a second over glow on his horn, casting thousands of shadows around the guards. After the first explosive was dropped Slasher extended his barrier shield to all around the encampment.  After expanding the shield is put a third overglow on his horn, making it nearly impossible for the gryphons to attack due to the massive amount of light being shot out in every direction. Everypony was in awe of the power that their commander re about the Princess of Friendship before she became an Alicorn.

Where is all of that power coming from, including the damn light, thought Fire Light. Upon looking up the flame red unicorn saw it was his brother that was the source of both raw magical power and light. By the time the shield had gone the gryphons were starting another pass this time with spears in the air and daggers with the force on the ground.

“Everypony pikes up now, first and fourth contingent’s swords up now” commanded Slasher.

Instead of putting a barrier shield up again, Slasher prepared to fight the ground and air gryphons head on. Before the gryphons could even figure out what hit them Slasher hit all of the gryphons with a bolt of magic in the chest to slow them down and allow his stallions a chance to fight.

2 days later

“You did a great job defending the land that you live in and now it is time for me to repay you for your heroics making you my newest Captain of the Royal Guard,” said Princess Celestia. “The only reason that you are now Captain of the Royal Guard is because Prince Shining Armor is now Captain of the Crystal Empires Guard, therefore making you, one of the strongest unicorns in Equestria, my new Captain.”

“I can’t accept this reward your Highness all I did was protect my guards,” stated Slasher. “If anypony deserves a reward it’s my comrades.”

“Why so?”

“Because they were the one that were brave enough to fight along said me and for that I commend them for their actions,” said Slasher.

“But you saved the lives of thousands of ponies.”

“That maybe but I don’t deserve the reward, because I have the best reward anypony could ask for already.”

“And what might that reward be,” asked Celestia.

“Knowing that Somepony close to my heart is in love with me and is willing to spend the rest of her life with me.”

“Who might that be Black Slasher,” said Celestia slightly irritated.

“Princess Twilight Sparkle will you give me the honor of calling you my wife,” asked Slasher.

“Yes, I’ll be your wife Slasher,” said Twilight while excitedly hugging and kissing Slasher.

“Wait what’s going on twilight, you never told me you had a coltfriend,” said Princess Celestia confusedly.

“We wanted to keep it a secret so that the public wouldn’t swarm us, our friend didn’t even know until now.”

“Humph, well I feel betrayed,” said Rarity.

“So not cool,” mumbled Rainbow Dash.

“I guess that it’s okay with me,” whispered Fluttershy.

“Why Ah’m hurt sugercube, ya’ll shoulda told the six of us,” said AppleJack in her southern drawl.

“Ooooo, can I plan your wedding,” asked Pinkie Pie loudly.

“Girls you weren’t told because we didn’t know if you could keep it a secret,” said Twilight. After all I didn’t even know that we were going to get married.”

Explanation

For the meantime I will not be posting any new chapter of this story while I write the prequel to the story. Sorry for the inconvenience.
