Chapter 7: The Battle of Grazalda Hill

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The forces of both sides clashed in sword and augmentations. The fighting started in Melee but soon after the first sword swings beams of light began coming from the hill, fired by the Mage circles on the hills and ground. The occasional slow moving ball of light flying up and then into the crowd of drones like mortars.

>Ranged particle weapon fire
>Drone #9,418 offline

>Steel Swords

>Particle Fire -URGENT
>Shields integrity 3%

The drones in battle were unable to stop the beams and shells of energy from above. It carried too many varying signatures from all the mages. It was so overloading that they even had trouble with simple metal swords. The battle played out rather in favor of the ponies, led by a general Bad Wolf, who fought in the fray.

He could be seen in the middle if the fray in silver armor, a drone was impaled on his spear, struggling to try and inject the general with the two nozzles new fully extended from its hoof. The general threw the spear down, stabbing at the drone's head. The shield around the drone fizzled into visibility before giving out as if it was butter to the sword. The drone stopped moving as it stabbed through the skull, a squirt of dark red liquid coming from the skull. Not blood, but looking very similar.

The general had pulled his sword out of the dead drone with his mouth and held it in a side slashing fashion as he looked up, his sword shimmering, blue colored runes where visibly pulsing on it.

That's when the Queen visibly became strained back in her chamber that had now expanded into a large cubical hub of activity. She was using all possible within her power to understand this object. Couldn't remove a faulty lob? A shield? Now their weapons? All pulsed and had the aura of the same energy...But ever changing, it did not stay the same, even from sword to sword it was different. One would have a higher frequency in sound when swinging, one would glow a red color instead of blue. But the subtle changes almost entirely gave off that when it actually came in contact with her drones that it was an entirely different thing! Each 'Spell' and weapon had its own personality!

The battle continued with the drones only putting up a small resistance. The ponies were like a roman legion, moving with vicious ferocity like a meat grinder. The armor they wore would pulse blue when the nozzles of the drones would attempt to break into the casing. One drone visibly snarled before collapsing at the back of the pack of drones.

The guard had taken the entire area, they pushed the drone hoard to the wall of the city, trapped. The drones had not taken a step back the whole battle, but had rather been killed before stepped over. The casualties in the guard were minimal, drones falling with ease.

The final pocket of drones outside the wall were cornered in, only fifty or so, they all stood stock still looking at the advancing hoard of armored ponies. One drone stepped forward. "Lower your shields, explain their inter-workings. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." Drone was met with a spear right through the skull, the rest of them stood still. Looking at the hoard with no emotion, but not attacking.

"If they stay still we could save them after the fact with the elements princess! Don't order the killing!" Twilight was overlooking the battle from a roofless carriage pulled by two guards, also sitting alongside Celestia. "It would be a much larger risk then I'm prepared to make..." Twilight thought a moment. "Can't we just shield them up with some mages? The princess looked at her student with thoughtful eyes. "That would put a time limit to making it to the castle. We can't jus-...Well." She lowered her brow. "I estimate an hour or so before our mages would run out of juice. That is if we only use a minimal amount to continue inside with some left."

The shield was deployed, the army of armor and fur moving into the city through the now taken city gate, a huge aerial battle fought above the now war strewn streets of the city. Celestia could be seen occasionally shooting a bolt of magic into a drone from the crowd of guards making a spearhead for the castle. "Move it! Go! We only need to make it past this tier before the secondary wall! It even looks like it's still being held!"

The castle walls were occupied by extremely tired looking ponies. Including some armored unicorns sweating as they held a shield over the walls. Drones seemed to be standing outside, staring at the wall with blank expressions. "We are so close!" Cried a guard before being tackled from the air by a drone, his cries drowned out by the aerial bombardment of pegasi drones. Twilight and her friends went to form a circle, Twilight deploying a purple shield of energy.

A scream was heard from behind the pack of now combat busied guards. A large, pale mass of machine and limp eternal mane. "Luna!?" The cry was from Celestia as she saw her sister impaling a guard from behind into his back with her horn. She shoved the body off with her hoof before meeting her eyes with Celestia. "Who is Luna?" The Queen put on a fake grin, taunting the Sun princess with her ignorance to the now...Non-existent host of the body she resided in.

Is the world worth living in if all you do is think like every other intelligent creature? A drop of water in a bucket.

Author's Notes:

The actual talking drone was used due to pony tech and communication not exactly being "compatible" with their hails.

Chapter done, it looks like I'll need one more chapter and ending chapter if necessary. Have nice day.
