Chapter 2: Epilogue

“Huh what's this.” A Purple Unicorn said as she uncovered a sealed box. It was sealed with the strongest magic she had ever seen, the pure magical energy in the lock alone was more than she had in her entire body.

“This is big...I need to see the boss!” she exclaimed and dashed off. She Gathered her two friends and dashed off. She was leading a dig team, going through the ruins of the Ancient city of Canterlot. She teleported to the nearby city of ponyville, Equestria's capitol, and ran to the Palace.

“What can be so important to interrupt the Princess's Meal?!” a Guard asked outside of the main hall.

“This!” she exclaimed and showed the box. The Guard examined it and his eyes widened when he felt the magic. He waved her through.

Now that she was actually there in the dining hall, walking towards the Princess with her two friends at her side, she was nervous.

“Hello, I am afraid I don't know you. Do you need something?” The Princess asked. She was a regal white and her horn was majestic, but she had no wings.

“I'm sorry to interrupt your meal Princess...but this might be very important.” the Purple Unicorn said and levitated the box over.

The Princess looked the three over. The Unicorn was a lavender purple with a pink mane and tail, the mane and tail had a streak of dark purple through it. Her Cutie mark was what looked like a butterfly shaped star. The one to her left, a light purple Pegasus, the coat looked like someone had mixed pink and blue, that had a multiple colored mane with what looked like balloons made out of thunder clouds as her cutie mark. The final was a gray earth pony. She had blonde stylish mane and tail and a hat a country farmer would wear, but it was modified to look more fashionable. Her cutie mark was what looked like an apple made out of rubies.

“Where did you find this?” she asked as the box was under her control and she felt the mass of power within. She gave it a burst of her own magic and the lock disintegrated.

“in the ruins of Canterlot.” the Purple Unicorn replied. Now that the excitement was all gone the Princess realized this Unicorn was rather shy.

“Well let's see what's inside.” the Princess said and opened the box. Inside was an aged piece of parchment and three pieces of jewelry. There was a sort of crown that had a purple Amethyst that looked like a butterfly shaped star, a necklace that looked like thundercloud balloons and the last ruby apples.

“Hm, Interesting.” the Princess said as she lifted everything out. She read the parchment and the three were surprised to find tears were at her eyes. “Read...” she said and floated it over to them.

“I cried when my friends died of old age one by one right in front of me...” they started.

When they finished they were all in tears as well, but not for the same reasons as the princess.

“What is wrong my Little ponies? It touched your hearts that much?” the Princess asked as they sobbed.

“M-my name is Shy Sparkle.” the Unicorn said.

“PinkieDash Sparkle.” the Pegasus said.

“AppleGem Sparkle.” the Earth pony said.

“Twilight Sparkle...is our great, great grandmother.” Shy Sparkle said.

“Your Grandmother?...but that means...” the Princess said and lifted the three pendants from the ground. “According to Legend, the last Alicorn Princess locked away the Elements of harmony...only the wielders' heirs could find them...” she continued as she placed the pendants on the three ponies. “It used to be six pendants...but now they are three, they have combined.” she finished.

The second the pendants were in their place, the three ponies' eyes lit up and they yelled out in pain. Wings shot out of Shy's back, a horn out of PinkieDash's skull and both out of AppleGem. The new appendages were slick with blood, but they already stopped hurting and the blood evaporated.

“Oh my God...you are not only the new bearers of the elements of harmony...but the magic gave you the Ultimate form of an Immortal Alicorn!” the Princess exclaimed.

“No” a voice said from the Parchment. “Not Immortal. Immortality is a Curse I could never bestow upon another. It is a hell this Parchment proves...you suffer for longer than you are happy. In my time and before, the time of Celestia and Luna, it was worth it. But for my reign and from then on...it was only pain. Live your lives. Don't wish for it to never end, after so many years death is a mercy you would not receive for many long centuries.” the voice continued.

The princess looked at the parchment and noticed the final two lines were glowing purple.

“I am Twilight Sparkle, the last immortal princess” the voice said, and as it did the words changed to match.
