Chapter I - Searching for the Lost

Broken and alone is only the beginning for what Trixie is going through. Proven wrong twice, beaten twice. Everything she had built up is crumbling before her, she had to sell her carriage because she could not make enough bits to repair it. She can barely make ends meet to feed herself. She wanted to blame Twilight Sparkle for everything that has happened to her, but she knew it was not her fault.

Trixie was not a terrible pony, she only acts the way she does around other ponies. To impress them. Trixie had a dark past that she has told nopony. When she was just a filly her parents had died in a horrible accident and she was forced to move from foster home to foster home. She desperately wanted to be adopted and to be cared for, but that never happened. She never got over the passing of her parents, even to this day.

To try and look past is she found sanctuary in magic. Her special talent as a matter of fact is controlling magic. But when she was thrust into society she found out she needed to find out a way to make money, so she would be a one-pony show. She would demonstrate her abilities in using magic and everything she knew. But she quickly found out that not a lot of people liked what she had shown.

She struggled. So she changed her image. Instead of a calm and caring pony she would be a show off, prideful, and arrogant. It seemed to work for a while. She started to gain some recognition and started to have a regular job. She has travelled all over Equestria and had seen many things, but her fame soon changed one day when she found herself in Ponyville.

She was made a fool of in public. Her act had gotten the best of her and had for the first time in her life felt embarrassed. Two years go by and she finally finds the means to prove everypony wrong, the Alicorn Amulet. She returned to Ponyville and challenged Twilight to another magic duel. At first it seemed like she had won, but she was fooled and tricked. She was defeated again. She knew Twilight forgave her for what she did, but she could not forgive herself.

Now everytime she looks at Ponyville she does not have the courage to ever enter. Everypony now just laughs at her and will talk about her behind her back. This is the state of her life right now, and she is spending it looking at the bottom of a shot glass.

Trixie swigged another shot down and slammed the glass on the table. Some of five empty shot glasses lied empty on the bar in the Silver Unicorn in Appleloosa. It was very rustic and despite it being in a desert, Trixie felt it be very cold. Trixie looked around and found she was alone with nopony else to be seen besides the bartender.

Trixie looks at the bottom of the glass and says under her breath,”I’m sorry dad. I’m sorry mom. I have failed both of you.”

Trixie felt great sorrow and grief just mentioning their names. She can never get over their deaths. Trixie felt something drip from her cheek and she realized that she was crying. Both for grief and for failure.

Trixie sniffled and set the glass on the table. She stopped crying and grabbed some bits out of her cloak and put them on the bar. Trixie straightened her hair and cloak as best as she could, she grabbed her hat and put it on her head and left the bar. She stepped out onto the streets and it was the dead of night. Stars glistened in the sky and the moon shined brightly above her head. Despite the beauty of the night this did not cheer her up.

She walked slowly along the streets. Her coat had not been cared for in days and so was her mane. Her eyes were heavy and were dreary, she stumbled and found her face in the dirt. She lifted her head out of the ground and rubbed the tears in her eyes away. She stood up and continued to walk on through the night. Finally she found herself at where she was resting for the past couple days, an empty barn.

It was not the most comfortable or hospitable place in all of Equestria, but it was free and it was better than nothing. She found her bed and she sat on her haunches and took out her locket she had received from her parents. Inside was a picture of all three of them with smiles on their faces. Trixie took in a deep breath and closed it and let it fall back. She opened her bright blue eyes and they stared into the darkness of the barn.

Her bed was consistent of a pile of hay with her saddlebags as the pillows. She fluffed her saddlebags and laid down. A single tear streaked down her cheek again and she began to drift off to sleep.

Her knowledge of magic was limited as she did not have the entire Canterlot Library at her disposal, like Twilight. She tried to enter Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns but she could not pass her entrance exam. She taught herself everything she knows which is only a handful of illusion and meditation spells. She however is more powerful than most Unicorns, where they only use magic for their special talent.

Twilight Sparkle. The mare who probably cared about her the most. Again she cannot blame Twilight for everything that has happened to her on Twilight. Most of it was her fault, if she had just not changed she would probably have some friends with her. But this is the price she has to pay for being an ignorant and arrogant pony. Now she suffered the consequences.

She found herself in complete darkness, nothing to see for miles around. Until finally the ground beneath her hooves began to glow a bright blue color. Like a path. She began to follow the trail. For what seemed like an eternity she found herself at the foot of a pair of very large stone doors. She began to think. No handles, and no locks.

Trixie activated her magic and it swirled blue magic into the door. It was absorbed into it and the doors squealed and began to move. It lead to a bright room and she calmly and cautiously entered the room. her vision goes black and she hears a wise but unfamiliar voice say in her head,”Do not fret my child. Your hardships are nearly over and soon your true destiny will be laid out before you.”
