Nothing More to Offer
Chapter 1
I nervously looked around for my sword and shield, there, on my left. I take off running for my weapons fiercely. I pick them up and quickly spin around to block the incoming rain of arrows, this proved effortless when I was hit by 3 of them, one in my right leg, one in my forearm, one in my hoof. I tried to keep running but the arrows were too much for me, but as I fell to the ground a strange pony appeared in front of me to pick me back up.
"who are you?" I stumbled as I asked.
"run" she said guiding me.
I ran for my life, fast as I could, but I couldn't do it for long, my hoof was almost impaled, my other hoofs were fine, but it's hard
to run on three hoofs. The pony turned to me.
"come on! You're going to get yourself killed!" she yelled to me.
"I'm trying, my hoof is stopping me."
She ran to me, pulled the arrow out of my foot and said "there, let's go! We
don't have much time!"
As we ran I wondered weather I should trust her guidance, but it was too late now, we were at a little house. The lady escorted me inside and it was much larger than it looked. The lady took me over to a table and called for somepony. Another pony walked up and looked at my wounds.
"Avii, what do you think, national or royal guard?" The pony asked.
"You can't seriously expect this mare to be a guard, can you? Her wounds prove otherwise, you my friend are lucky you have Avii, the best doctor ever." said Avii.
She took out the arrows that were left and treated the two afflicted areas.
"did you have other arrows in you?" she asked.
"my right hoof, that mare pulled it out when we were running away..." I replied.
"Val, is that true? You know you shouldn't remove arrows unless you treat the
area immediately!" she yelled as she saw the wound."Val! Come quick I need the touch!" she yelled.
Val appeared seconds later, she held her horn over my hoof and it begun to glow. Then I blacked out. I woke up the next morning, I was still in the house, but something seemed very different. I started walking around, until I heard her.
"Hey! What are you doing up?! Go lay down! you need your rest." The Mare said.
"I'm not a patient mare," I started "so I don't much care for lying down."
"You remind me of myself," she said as she flew towards me "Name's Rainbow Dash, your's?"
"Pluto." I answered.
"What's that? Some kinda strange language?"
"It's not really important right now."
"true. Go lie down, you're hurt." another voice chimed in.
I looked up and saw it was Avii, I guess I wasn't surprised when she told me to rest, because she knows what she's talking about, she is a certified doctor.
"like I told Rainbow Dash here, I don't much care for laying down." I said
"well, that attitude won't last long." Avii said
"oh? And why not?" I asked
"you'll find out." Avii said.
"whatever, Rainbow Dash what do you ponies do around here for fun?" I asked
"hmm... Well I fly around when I'm bored, but you don't have wings..."
"what?!? What happened?" I asked as I looked at my back to see if my wings were really gone, sure enough they were. I don't think I have to say I was disappointed and I fainted. When I woke up Rainbow Dash was still there but Avii was now there with her, I was a little dazed so I only heard some of the conversation.
"Why'd she seem so surprised? You can't just loose your wings, right?" Rainbow Dash said.
"well I used..."
That's when I stopped seeing and hearing for what seemed like a few seconds.
"you see Rainbow Dash, she's waking up, I told you." Avii said
When I sat up I looked at my back again, still no wings.
"Avii, my wings are gone!" I said
"I know, I know." she said
"well what the hell happened?"
"You ask me as if I know, honestly I'd ask Val"
I ran off to find her, I looked high (as I could anyways, I had lost my wings) and low but I couldn't find her. After about four or so hours of that I gave up. And then Val walked through the door, of course.
"Val! What happened to me?" I asked fearing the answer.
"What are you talking about?" she asked looking very confused.
"My wings... Gone..." I said with a depressed look on my face.
"oh really? I've only heard rumors about this." she said
"what do you mean?" I asked
"Well, you see, I walk around most of the day living life as a villager." she started "so I hear a lot of old tales about ponies loosing their wings."
"there's a way to fix it, right??" I asked nervously.
"only one way I'm afraid. And it's not exactly easy. We need a lot of magic for it." she said
"I'm sure you and Avii can make it happen, I believe in you." I said
"no, I don't think you understand. We need more magic than the whole town has to
offer." she said.
"Wait!" Rainbow Dash yelled "I know just the pony to help us, she's got tons of magical power, Enough to do the spell herself."
"Rainbow that's impossible." said Avii
"she vanquished an ursa minor!" Dash retorted.
"where is she?" I asked
" she lives in ponyville." said Dash
"Well you've been there, lead the way" I said " Val, Avii, are you guys coming?"
"well we can't count on this pony to do the spell all by herself." said Val.
So we went on a long journey none of us were prepared for, we didn't know it was such a long walk or we'd have gotten backpacks full of food. Day two on this seemingly endless journey, and we're out of food and Dash is getting restless with us she can't stand to be moving so slow so she circles us to keep herself entertained.
"Dash, are we close?" I asked
"hold on lemme get a better view" she said and flew up in the sky "We're close!" she yelled down at us.
As we walked ever so slowly toward the town I wondered if this pony was as amazing as Dash said, she seems to exaggerate a lot. Dash was the kind of pony that doesn't realize that she's exaggerating.
"we made it!" Dash exclaimed
"Thank Celestia! Food and drink!" Avii exclaimed.
"Well not yet," Dash started " we have to find twilight, or come up with the bits for anything."
Avii looked so amazingly sad to hear this. As we walked along through the tempting assortment of stores and food courts and everything around us, I pondered how much longer we could go on without any food, I calculated it in my head and checked it over about twenty times before we got to Twilights house tree library. I could see the joy on her face when she saw Dash, from what I heard they were very close.
"Twilight, been awhile hasn't it?" Dash said.
"ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! Rainbow Dash, I thought you weren't ever gonna come back!" Twilight replied.
"Well, I wasn't going to for another few months, but my friend here really needs some help." Dash started "Besides, it's been awhile, I figured I'd come visit sooner or later I guess." Dash said.
"Well I'm glad to see you back but I don't see anything wrong with your friend." Twilight responded.
"Well you see Twilight, I'm a pegasus..." I replied.
"... What?" Twilight said in a very confused voice.
"I honestly don't know what happened, but my wings were gone after I woke up in this mares house" I replied and pointed to Avii.
"well, what did you do?" Twilight asked Avii.
"well...." Avii started "I uhh... Well, umm, I...."
"Look, I can't help if you don't spit it out!" Twilight said in an annoyed tone.
"I did a spell to make her flightless, and apparently it lost her pegasus status..." Avii replied.
"Avii.... Why couldn't you have just told me!?" I yelled with an annoyed gaze.
"I was afraid it was something completely natural at first but then I came to realize this was my fault... I'm sorry, I understand if you never talked to me again..." Avii said and began to cry.
"Avii, I'm not mad at you," I began "I'm a little angry that I lost my wings, not that it was possibly your fault. So please, don't worry about it." I said and wiped a tear from her eye. I noticed my heart stop for just less than a second as I wiped that tear away, I'd never forget it because that moment changed everything.
