The Master of Manehattan
Chapter 4: Chat
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI stepped out of the shower and got dressed immediately. Velvet had chosen to stay the night, trying to stay hidden while she was meant to be signing books. It would seem that in an effort to be more accompanying to the client, I had inadvertently offered myself up as some sympathetic shoulder so to speak.
I took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom. It felt horrid, walking around knowing someone who paid me for sex was still here. It felt dirty, awkward, and just plain foreign. I decided to try and avoid any contact with Velvet and just went to the kitchen. I settled down with a cup of water and just sat, staring into the cup. I could see my pride swirling around as I stared into it.
I shoved it away and rubbed my eyes. I felt hollow. I hadn't eaten in hours, I hadn't slept for what felt like days, I was in a horrible way, yet all I could do is sit and wallow in my own sadness. "Oh- I uh...hello." Velvet peeked into the room and slowly walked over. "I...I never did get your name."
"It doesn't matter." I stated dryly, bouncing my hand on my knee. Velvet just cocked her head and walked over. "Did you need something?"
Velvet joined me at the table, pulling a seat next to me. "I...I'm not sure what the right way to go about this is...but...thank you."
I took a deep breath, staring into my drink. "It's fine."
Velvet just sat next to me. "Um...can I ask you something?"
"Is it about my age?"
Velvet just stared at me. "Yes."
I let out a loud sigh. "Eighteen last weekend."
Velvet froze in place. "I- you're my daughters age!"
I shrugged. "And?"
"S-shouldn't you be in school!?"
"Shouldn't you be with your husband."
Velvet took the blow physically, shrinking down. "I should...."
I got mad and knocked my glass over, spilling water over the table. "Yeah...I should be in school. I shouldn't even be here. But...such is life, unpredictable...cruel."
I went and got a rag. "So...since we're sharing...why'd you come to me...what did you get from me that your loyal husband wasn't giving you?"
Velvet slumped down in her seat. "Loyal, what a joke." She let out a short huff. "I found him sleeping with one of Twilight-- my daughter's old teachers." She shook her head. "He doesn't know I know.... But I could tell. Now he won't even look at me...he's hunting down teenage humans.... But I guess I'm no different."
I wiped up my spill and sat back down. "You came to a professional.... I might be young, but if there's one thing I know, it's sex." I crossed my arms. "Just about all I know."
Velvet shifted in her seat. "What does that mean!?"
I tossed my hand up. "I'm not good with math, I can't build, I can't write poetry or a story...I have no practical skills. Besides fucking...."
Velvet shifted uneasily. "How horrible."
"Truly." I leaned back in my chair.
Velvet just watch me. "I uh.... What's your name?"
I sighed. "Anders."
"That's...kind of a strange name for a human...isn't it?"
"It's my last name. But it's what I go by."
Velvet frowned hard. "Do you not trust me?"
"What?"
"Do you not trust me to know your real name?"
I cocked an eyebrow at her. "You're a client!"
"Yeah well- you're a kid!"
"Kid that fucked you!" I jumped upright, fronting on her from across the table.
"Really!?" Velvet kicked her chair away and stormed over to me. "I'm twice your freaking age! You need to sit down and calm yourself!"
I stared down at her. "You're a fucking client! Why the hell are you still here!?"
"Because I want to be, I paid to be, so sit down and be quiet!"
We devolved into a quick staring contest. Eventually I settled back down into my seat. "What the hell are you doing?"
Velvet sat back down. "You need to learn some respect--"
"Bitch, I'm paid to treat mares like property! You--" Velvet leaned across the table and hit me with her foreleg.
She had the look of death about her. "I paid you to make me feel good, and you call me a bitch!?"
I rubbed my cheek and backed out of her reach. "You asked for something different! I stay in control, but the customer's always right! If I was doing what I was supposed to be doing, you would have been bound up in a latex bodysuit for two hours!"
"Too bad, I'm not, and I'm not gonna get called a bitch by some little would be pervert!"
"Then leave!"
Velvet stood up and grabbed my collar with her magic. She pulled me down eye to eye with her. "You listen to me...I don't care what you think you are, I don't care what you do, but you...I'm not about to leave someone like you alone in Equestria."
"I don't need your damn help!" I yanked myself free and took a step back. "If I needed help, I'd get it!"
Velvet yanked me down. "You obviously need it! I'll be back next week."
"You gonna pay me again!?" I snapped, trying to pull away.
"No. I'm going to come, spend the day with you."
I pulled free and started laughing. "Spend the day with me!? Really!? You think that--"
"You- you said I was beautiful...you said it...and you're--"
"It was a job!"
"He's lying." Suri cooed, walking past the doorway. "He has your picture in his shirt pocket."
"Suri, in the ground!" I threatened, chasing her off. "Six feet down!"
Velvet walked next to me. "Who is that?"
I shook my head. "Assistant...secretary...she helps me find contracts."
"And was she lying?" My hand shot to my breast pocket. "Anders?"
I turned towards the door. "Go...your time is over."
"Do you have my picture!?" Velvet yelled, causing me to stop dead. I slowly turned to her and fished the photo out of my pocket. I ripped it in two and threw it on the floor in front of her.
"If I--"
I stopped talking as she picked the photo up and repaired it with her magic. "Do you have a pencil?"
"What- what the hell is this? You gonna--"
"I'm going to teach you to write a story." Velvet pulled something from her mane. "This...is my number. If I don't pick up you ask for me, tell whoever it is I'm helping you write a novel, okay?" Velvet levitated the photo into my hand. "I can tell you're angry, I can tell you don't like me, but hopefully we can change that." She took the collar off and set it on the table by my door. "I'll be sure to...try and help get you, business."
With that she walked out, leaving me alone with Suri. "Well...she's certainly something special." Suri walked over and looked me up and down. "Thinking a little bastard like you could ever be something useful."
I looked at the photo, memorizing the number she wrote on the back. "Contracts...now." I demanded, glaring down at Suri.
Suri smiled, licking her lips. "Careful...you get me all hot when you yell." She pulled a few folders from her saddlebags. "Nothing great...but it's a start."
I looked over the list of low notoriety names and tucked them under my arm. A quick scan of the letters let me know just how strange Velvet was. These mares all wanted something dominating, but Velvet, Velvet just wanted to feel good. These other mares were asking for specific things, to be talked down to, to be rutted like mad, to be burned or slapped.
Ponies seemed to have just as many kinks as people back home. I scheduled the three mares and sent the files to Suri for processing. With my day finally done, I settled down in my bed.
I made sure the photo was safe and drifted into an uneasy sleep. Next Chapter: Professional Estimated time remaining: 1 Hour, 13 Minutes
