The Unsung Heroes
Chapter 4: The P-Team
Previous Chapter Next Chapter“You've got to be KIDDING me!!” Trixie bellowed as she saw the four other ponies in front of her. “No way in Pony Hell is The Great and Powerful Trixie working with this....these.....FREAKS and WEIRDOS!”
“But you have to, to save us all.” Dr. Whooves spoke up.
Trixie rolled her eyes. “Oh, let the COLT make all the orders! Typical sexist pigs!” Her stare fell on Vinyl Scratch and 'Derpy'. “There is no way I'm working with these....inferior ponies! These....CRIPPLES will cramp my style and only get in the way!”
Scratch's nostrils flared at the word. She was ready to rip that unicorn's throat out. Bubbly on the other hand, began crying.
“You're being unreasonable. I'm sure everypony will warm up to each other if...” Octavia was cut off by Trixie's stare.
“Look, egghead! You're as bad as that Twilight Sparkle! Acting like a know it all around somepony who DOES know it all!”
“Looks like I'm gonna have to kick some filly...”
“ENOUGH!” Scratch was cut off by a booming voice. Princess Luna appeared before them. “I chose you to help save Equestria in it's time of need! Not to be at each other's throats!”
“You can't just toss five random ponies together and expcet them to get along. And you REALLY can't put me the likes of THEM and expect it to work any better!” Trixie explained. “I thought this was a solo gig!”
“I chose all of you because you each suffer the same burdens I did, and still do...” Luna hung her head. “I thought...that making you temporary bearers of the Elements if something goes wrong, would graduly make everypony trust me again. Believe that I want to do the right thing. But you're attitude will ruin all that, and doom Equestria to the coming darkness.”
Trixie wanted to explain how she is nopony's tool, nor would she risk her ego and image working with the likes of the others for Luna's own trust exercise with the masses. But she knew that wouldn't fly with royality, no matter how great and powerful she was.
“So this is basically a public relations stunt?” she finally asked, deciding on a question instead of a command.
“NO!” Luna was shocked. “This is serious! Perhaps...maybe I made a mistake with all of you.”
“I don't know about her, but I want to help save Equestria.” Scratch spoke up.
“Me too.” Dr. Whooves added.
“We're willing to work together, even without Trixie.” Octavia explained.
Bubbly nodded, a smile across her tear stained face.
“Well FINE then!” Trixie snapped. “I didn't want to work with you lowlifes anyway!” and with that, the unicorn began to walk off.
Scratch smiled a mischevious grin. “Well, I guess Trixie knows she's not powerful enough to help us. Or better yet, she's SCARED!”
The unicorn froze, and glared at the other over her shoulder.
“Sure would be a shame. Declining an offer as prestegious as being in service of Princess Luna.”
Trixie was now face to face with Scratch, her breath hot on her muzzle. Scratch kept smiling.
“I know you're blind, dear pony, but obviously you misheard the GREAT and POWERFUL part of my name. Don't tell me you're deaf too!”
“Don't know, I think everypony else heard that last part too.” Scratch smirked.
“Why you little....”
“STOP!” Luna commanded. “Are you joining us or not?”
Trixie glared at Scratch one more time, gritting her teeth. “Yes, I the GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE,” she yelled into Scratch's ear, causing the other unicorn to flinch, “will join such a prestegious honor as to serve you, mighty Luna.”
“Very well, but you better mean it.” Luna said warily.
“Oh I do.” Trixie gave a horseapple eating grin.
“Then let us be on our way.” Luna commanded, and the others followed her lead.
“Such a shame you won't be able to SEE my magic in action!” Trixie sneered at Scratch, then marched off with her nose held high.
Scratch frowned. “Something tells me that she worships Princess Luna for all the wrong reasons. I have a bad feeling about this.”
“Well, if anything does come up, we can handle her. I've dealt with worse.” Dr. Whooves admited.
“Really? When?” Octavia asked.
“Oh, long ago.” the colt rolled his eyes and smiled knowingly.
