Chapter 1: Intro: The War Begins

“Bring me the chip so we can finish this.” Crossfire was tired of working and was ready to finish and call it a day. “Calm down, all you ever do is complain. Why cant you just relax and stop bitchin’ for once?” scoffed Boomhoof from across the room. “Ya Crossfire, one of these days your head just might explode from being to much of a kiss ass.” added Hoofshot, Boomhoof’s twin brother. The twin unicorns had been goofing off all day and aggravating somepony else just made their day even better. Crossfire gave them both an evil glance and clopped over to get the chip himself. “You two are the laziest douche bags I know.”, Crossfire retorted, “You better be glad the boss likes you or I would’ve put a bullet in both of your empty skulls by now.” The twins just laughed and were about to push the pegasus’ buttons even more when in walked another pony. “It’s time.”

----

Mane City was the pinnacle of living and continued to grow every second. Everypony was busy trying to do one thing, invent the new best technology. Mane City was known as the technological birthplace and new inventions were being made constantly. The most popular of machines were known as Tech. These innovations practically ran the city, and if something in the city was run by a pony, you can be sure that one of these mechanical wonders was close to that pony’s side. Fighter Techs would protect the city with their AI in combat, Magic Techs powered towering generators using AI in magic, and many others engulfed the city in prosperity as they helped everypony. The best inventor in the city was Spark Hooves, an Earth Pony. She invented the brilliant designs, and for her accomplishments gained the title of Tech Mare.

Even though she was very young, Spark Hooves was known throughout the city. Everypony always watched her every move, waiting for the announcement of the next genius design. Ponies from around the world loved the Tech Mare for her inventions. Many honors and parties were made in her name, but little did they know of the true pony that made these wonderful inventions. She grew tired of the pressure that went with being the city’s best inventor. With everypony pushing her to come out with something better, the mare soon grew hateful against the ponies of Mane City. But she knew that soon the moment to benefit from all of her hard work would be here. The biggest showing of the year was about to start and everypony was there to see what new technological wonder had been invented. The Tech Mare was about to reveal her best machines ever invented to a crowd of unsuspecting ponies.

----

“Is everything ready?” inquired the Tech Mare. Crossfire put the chip in the final machine made for the day, “Yes, I have finished the project you have asked of for this special occasion.” “YOU have finished?!” shouted Hoofshot, “All you did is complain about how tired you were of working, what makes you think you should get all the credit?” Crossfire quickly answered, “I did all the work, you two just played with each other like some incest-bred, fag ponies with a-” “ENOUGH”, shouted the Tech Mare, “My special day will not be ruined by your immature fighting. I suggest all of you get to your stations immediately and do as you were commanded. That is unless you would rather join the crowd of brainless ponies waiting in the main room.” The twins walked off towards the room which the reveal party was to be had. “Yes master, everything will be perfect.”, Crossfire said as he flew up to the maintenance room that watched over Mane city. The Tech Mare smiled, “Yes, it will be.”

Mutters throughout the crowd grew louder as the time grew near to the big reveal. Boomhoof and Hoofshot walked around to each exit, setting charges for the main event, and then galloped away to the stage. They both gave a firm nod to ensure the Tech Mare that they were ready. “Ladies and Gentleponies, tonight is a night of amazement and wonder!” Boomhoof shouted to the crowd. Hoofshot joined in, “Get ready to see something that will leave you speechless!”, the two ponies maliciously grinned at each other. “Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for”, they exclaimed together, “the genius of the Tech Mare!” The roar of the crowd was deafening and only got louder as the proud mare walked out onto the stage. She had two huge metallic wings that looked surgically attached to her body, as well as a magic Tech in the shape of a horn attached to her forehead. “Everypony listen.”, she shouted above the crowd, they grew silent and eagerly awaited her every word. “For years I have made technology that has helped you with your everyday lives, but in return all I get is the impatience of everypony pushing me to make something better.” Ponies looked at each other in wonder not knowing what was happening. “These new Techs I have fused with my body have made me into the pony I deserve to be, an Allicorn. I have power beyond your belief and today I intend to use it.” She flew up above the crowd as a huge explosion at the exits caused the walls to cave in and block any exit. Simultaneously an enormous machine climbed onto the stage, it was a Fighter Tech ten times the size of anypony and stood on its back hooves. Its front hooves had metallic extensions, ten altogether, and two guns were mounted on its shoulders. The Tech Mare’s metallic horn started to glow as she let out the last sentence the ponies of Mane City would here. “Today, I take place as the God I am. Today you die!”

Blood flooded the room. Ripped limbs and mangled corpses now decorated what was thought to be a happy event. “I like it here”, exclaimed the zebra who was controlling the hell-bent fighting bot that was cause for a mass amount of bloodshed, “Its quiet.” The Tech Mare smiled at the sadistic joke, “Yes, but soon this city will be the base operations for many a pony’s death. And I like to here them scream.” As those words left the Tech Mare’s lips, she then started what would be a long, horrific war. Armies of Tech were sent in all directions to claim as much land as possible. Ponies everywhere stood up to the attack. Many died but a few settlements were able to create a force strong enough to hold back the attacks. The Tech Mare seemed to be an unstoppable force of death.

----

Ponyville was a village blessed by Celestia herself, and ,in the danger of war, was made a stronghold for the ponies that lived there. Strong warriors and powerful mages protected Ponyville and any surrounding towns for years even before the war. The reason for such strength and magic was a gift from Celestia. The Stallion Crystal. A powerful item that would choose the noblest of ponies and give them a power that no regular pony could match. An army was formed in Ponyville using the chosen ponies as leaders and frontline warriors. Soon these ponies were known as Crystal Warriors. No matter what terror befell them, the Crystal Warriors stood up to the threat.

When Ponyville heard of the Tech Mare’s takeover of Mane City, the Crystal Warriors smiled at the thought of a new challenge. They sent a few ponies to Mane City to scout the threat, only to find one pony returning covered in the blood of her friends. The Crystal Warriors stood up to the Techs over and over. Attacks continued to come in waves and after a few years of fighting, only few Crystal Warriors remained.

The Stallion Crystal entrusted to Ponyville stopped choosing warriors. With the war against Techs raging, Ponyville’s only hope soon became a useless artifact. The never-ending attacks proved that ,inevitably, Ponyville would be destroyed. They trained ponies from birth to fight, hoping for a slight chance of survival, but only those chosen by the Stallion Crystal could give an advantage to the waves of enemies that constantly invaded. Three years went by, and now only a few Crystal Warriors are still alive. Ponyville was a town of war and everypony fought to protect the lives of each other and the lives of the towns that were behind Ponyville. Ponies were trained to fight and those that didn’t fight were taught to make potions for those who did. Times were near an end and Ponyville needed help.

----

“What do you want them to do? Grow up in the frontlines of battle and die the second they’re old enough to fight?!” even through whispers the mare was able to show her anger towards her stubborn husband. “This is what we do, we fight. And just because he’s our child does not mean he gets special treatment. He will fight just as his father before him, just as my father before me”, he answered. “And what about the fawn? Just because we found her abandoned does not mean that we should send her out to her death. She is special, I know it.” A tear left her eye as she fought for the two small ponies. “Fine! Do what you want with her, but my son will stay with me. End of discussion.” The colt slowly walked out of the house leaving his wife in a fit of crying. “No”, she said to herself regaining her composure, “I will not allow the deaths of two innocent children, not if I have anything to do with it.”

As night fell, the mare picked up the two baby ponies and placed them in her saddle. She knew her husband was patrolling the front gates of Ponyville and now was her only chance of leading the children to a safer place. She galloped toward the back gates even knowing that the night guards would be curious. “Halt”, a toned guard with a crystal imbedded above his hoof stopped the runaway pony. “Where are you going? As a member of the Crystal Warriors, I advise you, and especially your children, to return to your home.” “I need to get through”, she uttered, “and I’m sorry for doing this.” Before the guards could speak, a pink gas filled the air. The mare was gone, leaving two unconscious ponies behind her.

After days of galloping across through different towns , she finally ended up in Steadhoof. Steadhoof was a small town that was known as the safest place to live because of it being the furthest from Mane City. Very rarely did Techs or any other dangers make it here, but the town still trained for the fear of being attacked by the threat that barrages Ponyville. Tired, she stayed the night in the town’s stable. “This is your new home.” she softly spoke to the two ponies. She began to tear up as she looked her own son and the small pony who she had found abandoned. Even though she had only had the fawn for a short time, she felt as if she was letting go a daughter as well. “I have to leave you here”, she cried, “because your father will look for me. At least if I go back I can keep him away from here, and you away from Ponyville.” She stared and whispered her final words to the two ponies before drifting to sleep, “I only wish that the war will end when you grow up so that you can be happy. I love you both so much.”

As sunrise came, the two fillies were left on the steps of One Heart Ranch, an orphanage for children abandoned by many a pony that did not want their child to die in senseless war. The mare who ran the orphanage found the ponies that morning, one was a white foul with a wild blue mane and the other was a small, brown fawn with a white mane and something that made this pony unique. Even though she could not have been but a week old, the fawn had a picture of a crystal on her flank. She had her cutie mark. Most ponies did not get a cutie mark for years after being born, it is a symbol for what they’re good at. But this filly had hers before she could even walk. The pony in charge took them in as her own in the orphanage, and due to how special the fawn was, she took good care of them. Everyday, even as the war raged on, that one small pony gave her hope, and she knew that one day things would change. She knew, by looking at into the eyes of those two ponies that day, that they were going to change the world.
