1: This is the part where ponies meet

"So, what did you want?"

"Huh?" Trixie looked over at Twilight, and Twilight did the same with her. They'd been walking for about five minutes now in dead silence, and the question caught Trixie off guard.

"In the letter, you said you came here for a specific reason. I was hoping you could tell me what it was before we continued." The two of them stopped. Twilight's eyes were filled with curiosity.

"Oh right, that..." Trixie now stared at the path ahead of them, an almost worried look on her face.

"You okay?" Suddenly, her face straightened up.

"Trixie feels like it isn't of importance right now..." A moment of silence passed. "Trixie just arrived, she would like to settle down a bit before she dives into the deep end. I didn't think we would even meet for a few days yet."

"Oh, okay then." Twilight had a look of disappointment run across her face.

"How about you show Trixie around? She's only been here twice, and each time she stayed near the center of town. Trixie would like to know the place if she's going to stay here for a fairly good chunk of time."

That appeared to bring the alicorn's mood up. "Spike, could you look in my saddle bag for the map and give it to Trixie? Oh, and get my pointer."

"Ay ay, captain!" A moment later, the map was in Spike's hand, the pointer in the other. Trixie used her magic to unravel the map and bring it in front of the pair.

"Let's see... Here's where we just came from," She used the now floating pointer to mark the location on the map, " the train station, and my house is actually just around the corner. We can go there first, or if there's anything that looks int-"

"Hiya Twilight!" Suddenly, a pink fluffy mane and head appeared from below the map. Twilight jumped back a good meter, and Trixie let out a short, yet ear invading scream. Spike was thrown from Twilight's back and hit the ground hard. The three lay there, eyes wide.

"Oops... sorry." Pinkie held a hoof out to Twilight.

"Pinkie? Why did you do that?!" Twilight asked with an angry tone.

"I just came to see if you wanted to-" Pinkie let out a huge gasp while pointing a hoof at Trixie, who was now dusting herself off. "What are you doing here?!" Pinkie scurried behind Twilight.

"You're here to do more super duper mean things to my friend! Did you find another Alicorn Amulet? Or maybe some sort of potion you plan to stick in Twilight's meal that'll make her follow your every order?"

"No! No! I'm not going to do any of those things!"

"Calm down, Pinkie!" Twilight trotted over to Trixie and stood by her side. "She's here on friendly terms! A- where did you get Gummy from?" The pink mare was holding the Alligator in her hoof, waving it around like a wepon with eyes squinting at Trixie. The magician stepped forward.

"Look, I don't want to cause any trouble, okay? Right now, I'm just here to look around." Trixie shot a friendly smile at Pinkie.

"You sure?"

"I'm sure." A few seconds of silence passed.

"Well, in that case, I'm happy to be friends with someone who's happy to be friends with me!" The two shook hooves.

"Well, Trixie thinks she handled that situation rather well! Aren't you jealous of Trixie’s diplomatic skills?" At this point, Pinkie was rambling to herself about plans for a party. Twilight rolled her eyes at the pair.

“Why don’t we-” Trixie began, but was cut off by her stomach growling. Her cheeks grew red.

“Sorry, Trixie hasn’t eaten very much yet today…”

This brought Pinkie out of her haze. “Oh! You have to come to Sugarcube Corner! We have carrot cake and chocolate cake and taffy and-”

“Okay, Pinkie!” Twilight interrupted. “We’ll go!” The mare’s expression became so happy it seemed physically impossible.

“Great! Come on, follow me!” The party pony began to bounce through the street, while the other two trailed behind.

“Mmm, smells good Pinkie!” Twilight exclaimed, sniffing the air as she did so.

“Yeah, I have a new type of cupcake in the oven, I was just about to ask you if you wanted to try some!” Pinkie bounced as she spoke, making her voice sound warbled. “Actually, I should probably go check on them.”

“We’ll be here!” The two sat down at a nearby table. A few awkward moments of silence passed.

“So… What do you think so far?” Twilight asked in an attempt to break the silence.”Of Ponyville… that is.”

“Trixie thinks it is a nice town…”

“Well, that’s good…” Twilight tapped her hoof on the table.

“What do you think?” Trixie asked. “You’ve lived here for a while, haven’t you?”

“Well, It-”

CUPCAKES!” Pinkie Pie bursted through the door going into the back with a plate of cupcakes on her back, and a chef’s hat on her head. There was a blue apron wrapped around her torso with a large heart stitched in.

“Make sure you make em last, because the next batch isn’t going to be done for another half hour!” Pinkie placed the plate in front of the two mares. The cupcakes were a nice shade of brown. Both white and dark chocolate cupcakes were mixed into the base. The frosting was a rainbow of colors, and chunks of chocolate had been broken up and stuck into the top.

“Oh, those look really good!” Trixie said as she licked her lips. She reached down with her muzzle and began to devour one of the chocolate rainbows.

“You must be really hungry, you’re eating so fast half of it is on your face.” Twilight said, containing a little giggle. Trixie blushed a little, then used her magic to lift the residue off her face and into her mouth.

The three hung out at Sugarcube Corner for quite a while after that. Pinkie entertained them by showing them interesting and neat tricks that she’d been practicing for future parties. One of them included her trying to balance on a beach ball while juggling pastries. While that was going on, Trixie and Twilight just sat back and made small talk, and ate the occasional cupcake. Pinkie managed to eat the most cupcakes while shooting them from her party cannon and catching them in her mouth. All in all, it was a really fun time.

“Um, Pinkie?” Spike stuck his head through the front door, an uneasy look on his face. “What are you doing?”

“Oh, hi Spike!” Twilight said. Then her face became puzzled. “I didn’t even notice you were gone…”

“Hi Spike! Did you do what I asked you to do?” Pinkie asked. The two beside her looked at her with confused faces.

“Yes, an-” Spike was cut off by a blur of rainbow shooting over his head.

“Alright,” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, “where’s the problem?!” She was shortly followed by Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash caught Pinkie out of the corner of her eye, and rushed over to her.

“Pinkie! Are you okay, what happened?! Spike told us there was an emergency!” Her question was shortly followed by a giggle from the pink mare.

“Yes, silly! But no need to get worked up over it! It’s an emergency party!” Rainbow Dash gave her a blank stare.

“What.”

“Well, Trixie came to visit Twilight, and I just had to throw a ‘Welcome to Ponyville’ party for her, but I didn’t know how long she was going to be staying! I decided I had to throw a party for her today, but it was already, like, 5:30, and that’s not enough time to invite all of Ponyville. So, I told Spike that we were having a severe emergency that could only be solved by my greatest and bestest friends in the world right after I served you guys with my new cupcake recipe. I figured if we partied hard enough, people would hear about it and I wouldn’t need to invite them because they would be attracted by the awesomeness that is my friends and their partying skills!” Pinkie took in a huge breath of air. “That reminds me! Why didn’t you tell me she was visiting earlier, Twilight?”

“Hey! I just found out this morning… and my coat was filthy, it took me and Spike four hours to wash all the chemicals out.” Twilight sunk in her chair like a little filly. “And she only got here about forty-five minutes ago…”

“Did I hear somethin’ about Trixie?” Applejack questioned. Right then all eyes in the room focused on the magician. Trixie gulped.

“Look,” Trixie said, “Trixie doesn’t mean you any harm. Right now she just want to sit back and relax, okay?” Trixie the proceeded to put her back hooves on the table.

“She’s telling the truth, guys,” Twilight said in an attempt to back up Trixie. “She’s here on peaceful terms, just relax and enjoy whatever Pinkie has planned.” The four newcomers looked at eachother, contemplating what to do. “Please guys, just trust me.”

After a second, Applejack stepped forward. She quickly cleared her throat. “Normally, ah don’ think that ah would by it…  but… Ah, think I can trust you, Twi.” Then, Rarity stepped up.

“I think I agree with Applejack, I’ll trust you if you can trust her.”

“I agree with both of them, I suppose…” Fluttershy said in a weak voice.

Rainbow Dash flew in front of Trixie, and narrowed her eyes. “Don’t make a wrong move, buster.” Trixie replied with a nervous smile.

“Oh! This is a ‘Welcome to Ponyvile Trixie,’ and a ‘Welcome to Existence New Cupcake Recipe Party!’ We’re going to have the best times of our lives tonight!” Somehow Pinkie Pie pulled out a beatbox from her mane, and began to play loud dubstep. “Spike! Hang these posters outside so that everyone passing knows this party’s public!”

Cider, balloons, cupcakes, everything was set up in a matter of minutes by a pink blur going around the room. It seemed as if Pinkie’s plan worked, because before long the place was packed with partying playful ponies.

“You know,” Trixie shouted over the large crowd to Twilight, “Trixie never really liked parties.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, they’re always too loud for her taste.” Trixie then proceeded to take a sip of the mug of cider she procured from Pinkie. “But she’s gotta admit, this cider is delicious!”

“It’s Sweet Apple Acres cider!” An orange earth pony appeared beside them without notice, and placed her drink on the table. “Made by your’s truly.”

“You know Applejack, right Trixie?” Twilight asked. “You never talked to her very much on you last visits.”

“I think Trixie remembers her well enough… if I’m correct, she tie-” Her voice suddenly cut off. “Maybe I shouldn’t bring back that memory. The point is I remember you.”

“Well that’s good.” Applejack replied. Suddenly, she saw Twilight about to take a sip of her cider.

“Oh no you don’t, darlin’!” She lowered the mug with her hoof. “Remember th’ last time you had cider that wasn’ non-alcoholic?” Memories of a tipsy princess came to mind, and the farmer let out a little snicker.

“I’m sure a little sip couldn’t hurt.”

“Na aw, this is coming back with me, and over to th’ table where Rainbow Dash is sittin’, see y’all later!” Applejack left, and merged with the crowd.

“So, you don’t have that much of a tolerance for alcohol then, huh?” Trixie asked a now very grumpy Twilight.

“I’m fine! I don’t know why they try to keep it away from me, I’m responsible…” Trixie let out a little snicker. “What?”

“Oh, it’s nothing…” She took another sip of cider.

Hours past, and the party just kept going. Ponies were laughing, the music was playing, and everyone had a great time. The only reason why the party had to stop was because the host, Pinkie, collapsed from dancing the entire time. At that point, her friends started clearing out the building, and the proceeded to clean up the mess. Rainbow Dash flew the sleeping party pony up to her room.

“Oh no…” Trixie, who was just now starting to get up from her spot, eyes widened three times their regular size.

“What is it?” Twilight turned around and stared at her.

“I forgot to set up a reservation with the hotel! I don’t want to go over there now, it’s late, and I’m… just slightly drunk.” She said with a slurred voice.

“You can just come and stay at my place” Twilight said

“Really?”

“Yeah, it’s not a big deal.”

“Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou!” Trixie stumbled over to Twilight and gave her a large hug.

“You’re welcome…” The alicorn said, giving a one hoof hug back. They stayed like that for a few moments.

“Now… Remember when I said I was only slightly drunk?”

“Yeah?”

“I think… if I let go of you I’ll fall…”
