“It's a rock,” Maud said.

Floral Spectrum made a strange face and a half-giggle. “Uh, no, dear. Do you need a hint? It starts with 'hi' and ends with 'coo...' ”

“It's still a rock.”

“A rock, dear?”

“A rock.”

“I... I can't accept that answer.” Floral shook her head. She frowned. “Was the question too hard? Did I do something wrong?”

“No offense, but I don't think our visions of poetry mesh. I wouldn't be happy working with you so it's better if I just try a different subject.” Maud Pie turned around and left. Floral Spectrum looked so dejected. It was for the best, though. Still, it kind of irked her that poetry turned out to be a bust because the teacher was insufferable.
