NOTE/FOREWARNING: This is not a story it is merely my opinion of the history of Equestria and will be updated every now and then

in the beginning Equestria was a planet much like our own, a boiling mass of lava but it did not rotate on its axis nor did it orbit its star. When life first started showing up instead of the bi-pedals, such as us, appearing and becoming the “alpha species” it was quadrupeds mostly ponies. At first there were only earth ponies, they lived as nomads and followed the food source but, food would only grow on half the land thus limiting the food source in general.

Then evolution (and a bit of magic) took its hold and the first unicorn was born. More and more unicorns started to appear, thus the formation of the second tribe of ponies. After a few generations the unicorns discovered their magic and within a few years became responsible for moving the sun to allow plants to grow on the opposite face of their globe. The temperature fluctuations caused more frequent and violent storms to form thus they returned to a nomadic lifestyle, abandoning there first settlement, and moving away from storms

after some more evolution (and magic) the first Pegasus was born. Once again it took a few generations for the pega-population to grow and once it did they built a weather station (NOT cloudsdale) they then started to settle the land with the unicorns running the sun, Pegasi running the weather and earth ponies running the farms there was peace, for a time.

After a while the unicorns got lazy, the Pegasus started to demand more food and the earth ponies started giving less and less. This made there peace erupt into full-out conflict there hate had created windigos which started to freeze the world. This continued until Starswirl the bearded pointed out, through studies and research, what was happening the three tribes came to an agreement and created a currency and appointed three chancellors, peace was restored.

A few years past and tensions rose again, but this time no agreement was reached and the windigos returned and proceeded to freeze the world, Starswirl tried to make the chancellors come to an agreement but the younger chancellors would not listen to the older unicorn thus they left again in search of new land. (the weather station was moved)

this new peace agreement was formed and peace was made, again. After a few years earth ponies who resented the other two species formed a resistance and began to protest the for the separation of the earth ponies. This sparked an all out civil war, but it wasn't direct. No direct conflict ever took place instead the unicorns made the sun erratic and un-scheduled, the pegasi made massive droughts and heavy downpours and the earth ponies started to increase food prices for unicorns and pegasi. The cause of this indirect and unorganized “war” chaos was created and discord was born.

Years passed and nopony questioned discords rule, but one day two Alicorns descended from the Heavens, one representing laughter, honesty, generosity (Luna) and the other magic,loyalty, kindness (Celestia). These two would live among the others as symbols of hope and friendship, for a time.

Not long after, the planet that housed Equestria was met with a large problem, its star was dying. Ponies panicked and began to revolt and fight due to fear. But the two Alicorns stood out amongst the panic Celestia used her magic to create a more stable star and encased the old one in an unbreakable shell and handed it down to Luna, “if we forget the old ways we are doomed to repeat mistakes, use this older star as a monument to never forget the past” thus the creation of the moon (yes Luna helped to make the moon). After this great show of power all the ponies came to a consensus to make the Alicorns the rulers of Equestria.

Many generations past and it was then that the Alicorns realized they were eternal. By this time the two sisters had built up a small village and a castle to house the elements of harmony and the ponies of Equestria. It soon became evident to Luna that ponies were no longer taking the pride in the night like they once had, Celestia's fear had become a reality. Luna tried to tell her sister but her warnings fell on deaf ears, Celestia refused to listen, her reasons are unknown to this date. After a short while Luna became angry with her sisters ignorance and became jealous of how her sister was always the favoured one, thus the creation of nightmare moon. :THE MARE IN THE MOON, INTRO DESCRIPTION:. Celestia tried to use all 6 elements of harmony but instead of a cleansing spell the elements backfired and Celestia accidentlly imprisoned her sister in the moon, for 1000 years.

Many generations passed before one day a peculiar stallion rode through the gates of the new city/castle of canterlot (by this time the Everfree forest had begun to close in on the old city, so Celestia moved it to the mountains). Celestia was amazed at his knowledge of land and decided to give him a tract of land outside the Everfree forest were there was a meadow. :FAMILY APPRECIATION DAY, GRANNIES STORY:.
And after one generation of peace that brings us to modern day Equestria.
