~Prologue~

Battle raged on as destruction and clouds of darkness engulfed the plains of Zebrica. Corpses of Zebras and hideously deformed Ponies littered the ground. Several Warships bearing Red sails and hulls blanketed the waters surrounding the island as more and more arrived with several more Ponies of all sorts coming to shore, Pegusai, Unicorns and Earth Ponies came on shore with a bloodthirsty look on their faces. The Pegusai and Earth Ponies unsheathed their swords and the Unicorns prepared to cast their Necrotic magic against their striped enemies. One ship in particular, larger than the rest docked the shore and several Unicorn guards wearing blood red cloaks and metallic masks covering their faces, save for their eyes, rushed out and lined in front of the ship.

A tall Alicorn steadily climbed down with glowing white eyes, she is covered in a light grey mane with several pieces of armor encasing her body, her head is fully encased in a metallic helmet coloured dark purple with 2 curled horns, that of a goat attached to the sides and a third horn part of the Pony herself, from the back of her helmet were several streaks of her mane flowing, and coloured red and orange, giving the illusion of a fire. On her flank she had a cutie mark that depicted a silver coloured skull with fangs and a red snake wrapping around it.

As she stepped onto the land, the Ponies in front of her immediately saluted. She gave a quick nod to them and they scattered across the battlefield. An elderly Earth Pony ran up in front of the Alicorn and gave a quick bow and quickly gulped as beads of sweat came down his neck.

“Your liege, w-we were ambushed as we came ashore but we have quickly turned t-the tides of the battle, m’lady.” He said with fear and nervousness in his voice.

“In who’s favour, Lieutenant Bloodhoof? From here I would assume the wretched striped swines.”
“No, no- the battle is go-” He was cut off as he was struck by a blow of energy and hit against a nearby tree.
“…Pathetic.” The grey haired Alicorn finished. “It seems I will have to take matters into my own hooves.”
She trekked down the battlefield, with an angry look in her eyes as she disintegrated every dead body of a Pony into nothingness and shot down any Zebras still standing in her path. She approached a ridge, dividing the land into 2. She looked down and saw 2 warships exchanging cannon fire, one had red sails and the other had green ones. She sighed and with a quick glow from her horn the green sailed ship was plunged into the depths into the ocean. She spread her wings and few across the ridge, landing on the other side, the ground cracking beneath her feet. She continued her trek, eyeing the massive fortress at the end of the road. A sinister smile crept on her face, she continued to walk once again, shooting down any Zebras in her path.
A few more seconds of waking and she stopped in her path.

“YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HERE, DARKMANE! LEAVE THIS PLACE!!” yelled a male Alicorn as he flew down to face the grey Alicorn. He was a little bit shorter than the grey Alicorn, Darkmane. He was wearing a hooded cloak and had a white 6 pointed star as a cutie mark. He once again boomed “I WILL NOT ASK AGAIN! LEAVE ZEBRICA OR I SHALL END YOU AS I HAVE ENDED YOUR PATHETIC CLUTCH THAT DARE APPROACH THIS BUILDING!” He boomed once more.
“Hahaha, Dawn Sparkle, do you believe that life is yours to take away? Life is weak, fragile, fleeting… Death, however, is eternal, everlasting, death…IS MY REALM!”
Dawn spoke once again, staring daggers into Darkmane, “I’ll grant you a swift death… more then what can be said for the thousands you’ve tortured and killed…”
“Little foal, you’ll learn of that first hand, when the Empire’s work is complete, your soul will beg for mercy, and we shall deny you.” She replied as she fired a bolt of dark energy against Dawn who was launched into the air.
“Hahaha…” She laughed as she flew after him.

Dawn opened his eyes for a brief moment after recovering from the pain only to find that he was 400 feet into the air and Luna was gaining, he tried to react but he was too late, he was met with a pair of hooves meeting his jaw as his eyes were forced shut.

He fell to the ground at a rapid rate before finally hitting it.
He tried his best to get up back onto his hooves but he simply could not, his hind legs were completely broken and his forelegs were close.
“YOU LITTLE FOAL! DID YOU REALLY THINK YOUR PATHETIC MAGICS COULD BEST THE POWER OF NECROMANCY???”

She stopped talking for a few seconds and closed her eyes. She felt something pin the back of her head.
“There is a presence of a far more powerful Alicorn here... WHERE IS IT, SPARKLE?”
“Your dark powers play tricks on your weak mind, Darkmane…” He groaned.
“ENOUGH!” She yelled as she used her powers to throw Dawn into a tree, impaling him with a branch.

Satisfied with her work, she trotted to the fortress, checking every room but one until she found the source of power, she had checked every nook and cranny, save for one closet. As she approached the closet she thought to herself, ‘the source is getting stronger… the foal shall die, it is far too dangerous to be kept alive…” She opened the closet, with her magic ready to strike when she saw nothing, until she heard a few whispers and looked down at her hooves to see a baby Alicorn, barely 3 years of age and with a cutie mark. “This is the source of raw power?” “Impossible…This foal already has a cutie mark, yet he barely looks to be 3 years of age…”

She heard the door behind her open and there stood Lieutenant Bloodhoof and 3 Unicorns ready to strike at the foal, as they did, Darkmane stood in front of him and took the damage. She launched volleys of arcane power to the 4 Ponies, killing them.

She then turned to the trembling foal, “Come with me, child, more will be here soon.”
