Most faithful student of the night

Nightmare Moon rebellion ended with Princess Celestia banishing her sister to the moon, but what if instead of banishing her, she would manage to free her from her black powers?

Celestia managed to free her sister from Nightmare Moon 1000 years ago and thus both sisters were ruling Equestria for all these years, together.

And just like Celestia, Luna also had many students over these years, but one of them was special.

He was her most faithful student.

Chapter 1

Shining armor was walking through great halls of Canterlot castle, it was night time already and he was really tired from helping Princess Celestia with new recruits all day.

‘I’m always glad to help our Princesses, but those rookies were just plain horrible, I just can’t wait to see Cadance again.’

Just thinking about his beloved wife got him into good mood and he smiled while walking towards the room he was always using while being in Canterlot.

He then suddenly heard hoofsteps coming from around the corner, then he saw someone he didn’t except at all.

“Cadance?”

Pink Alicorn Princess in front of him smiled and turned around running away.

“Cadance wait, what are you doing here, why aren’t you in Crystal Empire?” Shining shouted while trying to catch up with his wife.

After some running around he saw her enter some doors and quickly dashed to them.

He used his magic to open the doors and he quickly regretted this decision.

What greeted him was an apple pie, which swiftly landed on his muzzle.

Shining’s muzzle was now covered in apple filling, gears in his head slowly starting to work as he realized who’s idea was this.

“BLAZE YOU ROTTEN LITTLE BASTARD WHERE ARE YOU!”

Shining looked around and saw somepony just ran around the corner

“I WILL GET YOU THIS TIME AND YOU WILL REGRET BEING BORN.” Shining dashed towards his target with such speed that even Rainbow would be proud of him.

After he quickly left crime scene, one of the armors standing near the walls transformed into a laughing pony.

“I can’t believe I got him again, this is just priceless.”

Blaze rolled on the floor laughing so long, that he had to stop for a few moments to take some breaths.

After few minutes of enjoying his succes he saw somepony approaching him, it was one of lunar guards.

“Mr. Midnight Blaze, I was ordered by Princess Luna, to send you a message.”

“What is it?”

“Princess Luna wants you to immediately show up at her private chambers.”

Blaze gulped and his smile turned into frown.

“Thank you soldier.”

Guard saluted and walked away.

Blaze now with a frown on his face walked towards his teacher’s chambers.

Blaze was a rather young stallion, his coat was dark-blue, his mane was made of black and white strips, he also had dichromatic eyes, his left eye was teal with normal pupil, while his right eye was yellow, and his right eye pupil was cat-like. He’s size was average for a male unicorn, his cutie mark was a full moon with a star on it.

After walking for few minutes he finally stood before the doors to Luna’s chambers, he knew she was going to punish him, so he gulped again and lightly knocked on the doors.

“Who is it that wants to see us?”

“It’s me Blaze, you called me here Princess?”

“Ah yes, our most faithful student, thou shall walk inside.”

Blaze swore under his muzzle and opened the doors which right now were probably leading towards his death.

He slowly walked in and saw Princess Luna sitting on her bed with a frown on her muzzle, Luna ordered her two guards to leave and after they closed her doors she turned her attention towards Blaze.

“So would thou mind explaining why is Shining Armor running around the castle with an apple pie filing on his muzzle screaming your name?”

Blaze had hard time trying to hold his laughter in, while imagining this scene.

“I might have pranked him.”

“And how did thou do that?”

“Well I created illusion of Princess Cadance to lure him into my previously prepared trap, again.”

Luna’s frown changed into small smile.

“So our Captain of royal guard and co-ruler of Crystal Empire got himself pranked in the same way three times in a row?”

Blaze nodded, he couldn’t hold his laughter any longer.

To his surprise Luna was also laughing.

“Princess you are not mad at me?”

“Of course we are not dear Blaze, it just shows how good you became at our illusion spells, besides thou know very well that unlike our sister we can appreciate a good prank. And we believe Shining Armor should loosen up a bit.”

Blaze smiled, he had a talent for magic since he was born, but he realized his true potential lied in illusions while attending Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, when Luna heard about a unicorn with such talent and such raw magic power she decided to take him under her wing.

Since then she taught him about many different magic spells, however what she was mostly teaching him were spells which were made to cheat other ponies senses, the art of illusion which in these times was unknown to most unicorns.

“Princess if you don’t mind I was actually wandering, why are you talking in this old royal kind of way?”

Princess Luna thought for a few moments and answered his question.

“We always enjoyed talking this way.”

‘Seems Legit’ Blaze thought to himself while starting to wonder why did she brought him here if she wasn’t mad about his prank, as if on cue she said

“Thou are probably wondering why we have brought thou here, the reason is we, after having a long talk with our dearest sister have decided to put you on a new mission.”

Blaze’s ears perked up, he wasn’t on any adventure ever since he and Luna went to the city on the south of Equestria to help its inhabitants free themselves from their evil leader, sadly because of this they missed the weeding of Princess Cadance, well Luna at least managed to get there in time for the party after the weeding.

“What is it Princess? Am I supposed to save somepony from evil creatures? Or maybe discover new lands? Or perhaps find a treasure?”

Luna chuckled a little and said.

“No, from this day forth, until we alongside our sister will decide that thou are ready, thou shall study the magic of friendship.”

“…”

“…”

“The what now?”

“Look Blaze, we know that apart from us thou are not trying to make friends with anypony here, which actually came as surprise to us considering how often thou are going on parties in Canterlot at night.”

“But Princess I don’t need any friends.”

“Thou speak like that, because of lack of knowledge of how superior friendship can be, just like our sister's student few years ago.”

“Ehh, I guess I don’t have a choice right? So where am I supposed to learn about this whole “magic of friendship” thing.”

“Thou shall be living in the village called Ponyville for the time being.”

‘Oh just bucking great, I might a little bit asocial, but I like going to clubs at night and I bet there won’t be many of those in a village so small I didn’t even hear of it.’

“But where will I stay? In a hotel?”

“No, thou shall stay at the library.”

Blaze became completely confused right now.

“Why am I supposed to live in a library?”

“This is where our sister’s student is staying at, thou shall stay with her for the time thou shall spend there.”

Blaze’s eyes went wide.

“OH NO, I’m not going to live with her.”

Luna’s looked at him with confusion.

“Why is that?”

“I have talked with this mare only like 6 times in my whole life, and each time she managed to bore me to death, all she’s talking about are books, and even when she’s talking about something interesting like night sky or magic she can still make it boring.”

Luna chuckled a little and said

“Well then, does thou have any other ideas?”

Blaze frowned, thinking of anything else, when they both heard doors opening.

Celestia walked into Luna’s chambers chuckling a little and said.

“Well since you don’t like the company of my student so much, I think I have other idea.”

Blaze smiled while instinctively bowing to her and asked.

“And what is this idea of yours Princess?”

Princess Celestia walked towards mirror and looked at the full moon in the sky, she then turned towards Blaze and asked.

“Do you have anything against living on the farm?”

Chapter 2

Twilight was happily trotting through Ponyville towards the local spa, today was the “get together” day for her and her best friends, and it was Rarity’s time to decide where they will spend it. Her decision was rather obvious, and so was the reaction of certain cyan mare.

When she finally got to the spa with a smile on her muzzle and joy in her heart she went in and was immediately greeted by her best friends.

“What took you so long darling?”

“Oh I’m sorry for being late, I had to finish my studies on a certain spell, it was a task from Princess Celestia.”

“Well then, Ah think we shouldn’t waste anymore time now right everypony?”

Everyone agreed with Applejack, and then Twilight realized they are missing somepony.

“Where’s Rainbow Dash?”

“Sorry dear, we were looking for her all around but this time she managed to hide quite well.” Rarity said with a small frown on her muzzle

“Well it was to be expected really, we will find her later, let’s go girls.”

They all nodded and walked inside, well Pinkie didn’t really walked she bounced inside.

Meanwhile Spike was clearing the mess in the library, putting books on their respective shelves, brushing the floor and worst of all, cleaning up the kitchen after Twilight’s attempt to cook something.

“I swear this mare will one day kill us with her cooking, right Owlowiscious?”

“Who”

“Twilight.”

“Who”

“I’m telling you, Twilight, oh you know what forget it.”

Spike dropped the broom and went upstairs to take a quick nap, when Twilight and others had their “get together” time and it wasn’t in the library, then he was sure she wouldn’t show up for most of the day.

Right before laying in his bed and going into sweet land of dreams, Spike choked few times and released a green fire which quickly changer into letter.

‘A letter from Princess? Now? What can she possibly want from us? Well Twilight did say to not disturb her today, so I guess it will have to wait until she will come back.’

Spike laid on his bed and closed his eyes, he quickly fall asleep.

Ponyville train station.

Train from Canterlot just stopped on the station, doors opened and many ponies of different colors walked out of it, some were coming back after vacations, others were going on vacations, and there were also a few ponies which wanted to live in Ponyville from this day forth.

There was also one pony who was forced to live there from this day forth.

Blaze emerged from train with a frown on his muzzle, slowly walking forward.

He looked around to see if anypony was waiting for him, Princess Celestia told him her student and her friends should be waiting for him on the train station.

After looking around for 10 minutes he was finally bored and decided to go into the village on his own. What confused him was a small sign on the entrance to the village stating “Beware of Pink Pony.”

After going around for few minutes Blaze still couldn’t find any of those mares Celestia told him about, but at least he managed to find some interesting places.

‘This village is bigger than I thought, I think I even saw a nightclub somewhere, also I think I understand why Princesses chose this place, unlike most of Equestria’s ponies, these villagers are literally radiating with friendship.’

In the corner of his eye he saw something going around the corner, normally Blaze would ignore it, but you don’t see a rainbow colored tail every day.

He decided to check it out, he looked around the corner and saw a cyan mare with rainbow mane and tail trying to hide from something with a frown on her face.

‘Oh hey, that must be one of these mares Princess told me about, what was her name again? Oh right Rainbow Dash, maybe she will tell me where is Twilight and…’

Blaze’s gears in his head started to work and he suddenly had a devilish idea

‘Or we can have a little bit of fun, ok what do I know about her, she’s fast, she’s loyal, she’s probably the biggest fan of wonderbolts in all of Equestria, she hates girlish things and…
THAT’S IT!’

Blaze horn glowed and he disappeared behind his illusion

‘ ”Hey Rainbow we are going to spa, come with us” like bucking hell, my hoof will never stand in this place ever again.’

While Rainbow was looking around for any possible sign of her friends looking for her she heard hoofsteps behind. She immediately turned around and yelled

“I TOLD YOU I’m not…”

“Hey there Dash wassup?”

Before Rainbow dash stood two ponies she would never except to see in her village.

“SPITFIRE? SOARIN? OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH What are you two doing here?”

“Chill out RD, we came here on vacation, you wanna hang out with us? Spitfire asked.

Rainbow was now having a hardest time of her life trying to hold her excitement inside, she calmed herself as much as possible and said.

“I sure do, so what are we going to do?”

Spitfire and Soarin looked at each other and smiled.

“We are going to do what every wonderbolt always do in his free time.”

‘OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH I will now see how they are always spending their free time, it must something so awesome.’

They walked through the village, throughout the journey Rainbow was constantly asking and trying to guess what will they be doing.
Finally after walking for couple of minutes, they stood before their destination, both wonderbolts had a smile on their muzzles, while Rainbow Dash was staring agape with horror in her eyes.

“Well we’re here, that’s what we always do.”

Rainbow couldn’t simply believe it

“A SPA?”

Blaze couldn’t resist any longer and he let out few chuckles hiding behind illusionary trash bin.

“Well RD you coming or what? That’s what you will be doing in your free time when you will become one of us you know.”

Dash was now having biggest internal quarrel in her whole life, on the outside she looked like she was about to explode, but she finally made up her mind.

“Well if all wonderbolts are doing this I guess I can try.”

Blaze’s ears perked up, he never expected her to actually go for it, from what Princess told him she hated spa more than anything else, but it seems her “affection” towards her beloved team was even stronger.

Dash started to walk in, still looking like she was about to break and fall apart, this was the moment Blaze decided it’s the time to end this prank, Princess also told him about her temper, and he knew that taking this any further might end up in him landing in hospital.

Rainbow turned around.

“Hey Spitfire, Soarin, you guys coming or what….
Where are you guys?”

Rainbow looked around but saw nopony, she then turned towards the spa again, and just few she saw other pony, his muzzle just few inches from her, she jumped in place and landed on all four.

“You look like a cat who’s about to jump on his prey you know.” Blaze commented.

Rainbow blushed a little and stood up to normal position and asked.

“Who are you, why are you startling me, actually you know what who cares I have to find Spitfire and Soarin.”

She was already turning around when he stopped her.

“Wait Rainbow, those two were never here to begin with, it was a prank you know.”

She turned around with puzzled face.

“What do you mean they weren’t there? I saw them.”

Blaze smiled, his horn glowed again and on his sides suddenly appeared two members of Wonderbolts.

“H-H-How did you do that?” Rainbow was both scared and fascinated.

“It’s an illusion you know, it was all just a prank, sorry about that, but I just couldn’t resist myself.” He then made both Wonderbolts dissapear to nothingness again

Rainbow now added 2+2, she sighed with relief that her heroes aren’t actually going to spa on their free time, but then she realized something.

“Wait how do you know my name? I never saw you around here, I also never saw anypony doing this whole illusion, maybe except for few pranks Princess Luna did on our last nightmare night.”

“Well of course I know your name, Princess Celestia told me many things about you and rest of the elements of harmony before I came here.”

Rainbow was now looking at him with even bigger confusion

“What you guys didn’t get letter from Princess?”

“Well Twilight didn’t say anything.”

“That’s weird, by the way where are they? I mean Twilight and rest of the girls.”

Rainbow frowned and pointed towards spa with her hoof.

“Oh thanks, and by the way you aren’t mad for this whole prank?”

Rainbow smiled a little

“Not really, I’m always pranking somepony with Pinkie, so I can appreciate good prank, but you are lucky you stopped me before somepony saw me going into this, this place, I would have killed you then.”

Blaze was glad there was somepony around who was a prankster like him and his teacher, he lifted his hoof towards her and said.

“By the way, I’m Midnight Blaze nice to meet you.”

Rainbow bumped his hoof and they both smiled.

“So Blaze what are you here for.”

“Well it’s a long story.”

“So how about you will tell me on our way to Sugarcube Corner? They have best sweets in all of Equestria.”

Blaze liked this idea and immediately nodded, they took off and walked into the direction of the their sweet destination.

Chapter 3

“So let me get this straight, you pranked him, the same way three times and he fell for it each time?” Rainbow asked while munching on blueberry muffin.

“Yep, wow this is pretty good.” Blaze simply nodded while eating his own muffin, they were sitting in Sugarcube Corner talking about his life in castle, of course mostly about pranks he did.

“Of course it is, I already told you, these are best sweets in all of Equestria.”

Blaze couldn’t disagree, so he simply continued eating this piece of art.

“Well you don’t seem to be as boring as Twilight when I first met her.”

“Oh please don’t even compare me to her.”

“What, you know her?”

Blaze frowned remembering talking with this lavender mare, he couldn’t believe till this day that somepony can make everything sound boring.

“Let’s say we met a couple times.”

“Ok, so what exactly are you doing here? I mean you probably didn’t come here just to prank some ponies right?”

“Well Princess Luna ordered me to come here to study the magic of friendship.” He said choking a little on his last words.

“Well that sounds awfully familiar, anyway, welcome to Ponyville, where will you be staying at? Twilight’s library?”

Blaze cocked his eyebrow and gave Rainbow a skeptical look.

“Yeah right, so if not at library, where are you going to stay?”

“Princess Celestia said that there’s some kind of apple farm here.”

Rainbows eyes gone wide.

“You are going to stay at Applejack’s?”

“At who’s? Oh she’s the element of honesty right?”

“Yeah that’s right.”

“Well anyway who cares where I will stay, I just have to make some friends and quickly go back to Canterlot to continue my studies.”

“I’m not sure it works like that.”

“Well whatever, so when are other girls going to leave this spa?”

“Who knows.”

They sat there for few moments in silence finishing their meals, after they both consumed every last bit of muffins.

“So Rainbow maybe you can show me around? Is there any nightclub here?”

Rainbows ears perked up and she put a cocky grin her muzzle.

“There sure is, and one of my best friends is a Dj there.”

“Cool I guess I’ll visit this place often during my stay, where is it?”

Rainbow stood up and waved her hoof in a gesture saying “follow me”. Blaze walked after her examining her body in the process.

‘She’s pretty well built, she must be an athlete, bolt made of three colors as cutie mark eh? I wonder what is it about, I guess it has something to do with speed, she’s actually quite pretty, also

Dat flank.’

“Here we are, this is..” Rainbow stopped her speech when she turned around realizing that Blaze was staring all this time on her rump.

“Hey eyes up here.” She said while pointing her hoofs to her eyes.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help it.”

Rainbow rolled her eyes and continued.

“This is it, club is called BlueBerry it’s the only nightclub in Ponyville, but it’s still quite amazing.”

Blaze examined the building very carefully, it looked all right from outside, what was noticeable about it was a big blue neon in shape of berry.

“Great, I was worried this place won’t have any clubs around.”

“Glad I could help.”

They both smiled at each other and then Blaze remembered that he still needs to meet other elements of harmony and start his studies of friendship, the faster he will start it, the faster he will end it.

“So you really don’t know when will they leave this spa?”

“Nope, not a clue.” Rainbow’s ears suddenly perked up.

“Oh my gosh, I forgot about something really important, sorry but I got to go.”

“Hey wait, you still didn’t show me where’s…”

Rainbow dashed (pun intended) away.

“Apple farm.” Blaze frowned and face hoofed.

‘Great, well I guess I can look for it myself, it can’t be so hard to find a bucking farm right?

Right?’

Meanwhile at the spa.

“Oh this is just marvelous darling.” Rarity laid in the spa bed while Aloe was giving her a massage.

“Ah am tellin ya’ll, after the hard day on the farm this can really be relaxing.” Applejack said while munching on some cucumber.

“Applejack you are not supposed to eat those.” Twilight said while levitating a book in front of her, getting a hooficure from two spa ponies.

“I wish Rainbow would be here she would enjoy this wing massage for sure, oh yes a little bit harder to the side please.” Lotus rolled her eyes presses harder on the spot Fluttershy suggested.

Suddenly all attention went towards Pinkie who started to have weird body tics.

“What is it Pinkie? Your senses are tingling?” Twilight asked

“Yes, there must be a new pony in town, oh my Celestia, this is so exciting, I didn’t throw a “Welcome to Ponyville “ party for a long time now, I wonder where he is, well he must be somewhere, I’m going to look for him, see ya girls.”

Before they could respond only thing that was left was a pink cloud in a shape of pony.

"Have you girls ever thought how would this mare act if she would get her hoofs on some caffeine?"
All mares in the room (including spa ponies) flinched at Rarity's suggestion, this pink hyperactive pony was banned from all cafes and other places which mostly serve coffe.

After few moments of silence spa ponies finished Twilights hooficure, she stood up and said.

“Well sorry girls, but I have to go already, I have some things to do back at the library.”

Applejack finished her second cucumber and suddenly stood up.

“Ah am also sorry, but there are some orchards of apple trees that need a solid buck.”

After saying their goodbyes to all mares present, Twilight and Applejack left spa going into their respective destinations.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Ponyville

‘Why, why was I born with such terrible field orientation, how could I possibly get lost in this village?’

While trotting forward hoping to find apple farm by accident, he suddenly stopped perking his ears up.

‘What’s that noise?’

He turned around few times but didn’t see anything he shrugged it off at first but then he heard it again, this time he also saw small dot in the sky.

”watch out!.”

Blaze sat on his haunches trying to recognize this noise, he then realized that this small dot was getting closer and closer, it suddenly became a Pegasus.

“WATCH OUT I CAN’T STOP!”

He finally heard that clear and wanted to move away immediately, but then he realized something, if he won’t do anything this Pegasus will crush into ground, not only that, judging from voice it was a mare, he's gentlecolt side suddenly took control, as far as he hated himself for this idea, he tensed his muscles and waited for the impact to come, and it did come, like a gray bolt of lightning.

After tumbling good 10 meters back from the place of crash they finally stopped. Blaze slowly opened his eyes, as he was immediately greeted by the huge pain in his limbs and his back.

“Oh my gosh are you okay? I’m so sorry, why didn’t you move away.”

Blaze looked up and took a good look at his assassin. Like he predicted it was a mare, she had a gray coat and blond mane, what caught his attention mostly was the fact that she had crossed gold eyes.

“Well I’ve been better, but how could I possibly move away and let such a beautiful mare hurt herself.”

She blushed at his comment and said.

“What’s your name? I haven’t seen you around.”

“That’s because I’m new in town, name’s Midnight Blaze.”

“Nice to meet you Blaze, my name is Ditzy Doo, but everypony here calls me Derpy Hooves.” She slightly frowned at the last words of her statement, which didn’t go unnoticed by Blaze.

“What’s the matter?”

“It’s just that, well I often act clumsy and break stuff, but it isn’t my fault, I was just born that way you know, and this nickname was given me because of it.”

“Hey I think it sounds pretty cute actually.”

Her eyes went wide and she looked directly at him, well at least her left eye did.

“You really think so?”

“Yeah of course, also do you mind me asking something?”

“Sure what is it?”

“Could you maybe get off me?” It was then that Derpy realized all this time she was on top of him, she immediately blushed hard and jumped away.

“Sorry about that.”

“Hey no problem.” Blaze flinched a little, feeling another wave of pain going through his body. His whole body was covered in small bruises, pain was annoying, but he still was glad it was him who looked like that and not her.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, it is all my fault.” Derpy didn’t know what to do at first but then she got an idea.

“I have many bandages and other first aid kit things at my house and it’s not that far away.”

“Crushing into me, laying on top of me and now you are inviting me to your house? Sheesh girl, maybe take me on a date first at least?”

Derpy muzzle was now of pure red.

“WHAT, no I didn’t mean it this way, I-I-I mean you are very handsome and kind, but I…”

“Ha ha ha, calm down Derpy I was just kidding.”

Derpy took a long sigh and turned around in the direction of her house, meanwhile Blaze was following her by her side, after few moments of silence he said.

“Thanks for the compliment by the way.”

Derpy then realized what she said back then and tried to hide her face under her mane which made Blaze chuckle a bit.

‘This mare sure is interesting.’

Chapter 4

Blaze followed Derpy into her house, she lived in regular sized wooden house, it didn’t look much different from others, except it had two broken windows. Derpy opened front doors and they walked in, it wasn’t anything special on the inside either, few pictures of Derpy, her parents and sister on the walls. Big couch in the middle of living room, next to it there’s a small table with one chair, Blaze assumed it was where she ate her meals.

She asked him to sit on the couch while she will go look for some bandages, while waiting for clumsy mare Blaze made a peek inside her kitchen which was connected to living room without any doors between them.

‘If you don’t count those burnt furniture in the kitchen, it looks rather normal.’

Blaze chuckled a little.

‘Boy this mare really doesn’t have any luck, I feel little sorry for her.’

By the time he stopped examining her kitchen, Derpy came back with a set of bandages and some hydrogen peroxide. She sat on couch near him and started applying peroxide to his bruises, each time she poured some on the bruise he would hiss from pain and she would immediately apologize.

After Derpy finished doing the decontamination of most of his wounds, she started putting bandage on some bigger ones.

“Thanks but you really don’t have to do this.”

“Oh no, it’s my fault you ended like that and that’s the least I can do to help you, now sit still.”

He did as she said, while she was focused on bandages, he was staring at her, examining her thoroughly.

‘Wow, I didn’t realize earlier but she’s really pretty, this amazing blond, I would say almost golden mane, her beautiful muzzle, and those eyes…’

Blaze quickly got lost in her crossed eyes, he didn’t know what was so addictive about them, but he simply couldn’t look away, he almost felt like he could stare into her soul.

“Aaaand done, ok Blaze, it’s all right now, how are you..”

She stopped for a few seconds when she realized he was staring right into her eyes, she returned the stare, looking into his teal eyes, as they both were lost in each other gaze.

“…feeling.” Derpy said so quietly it was almost a whisper, they just sat there staring into each other eyes, it was like that for few minutes but it felt like hours.

Derpy have finally realized what was happening, her heartbeat was getting faster as she felt her cheeks getting warmer.

“B-Blaze what are you doing.”

Blaze was still in his dreamy state and so without thinking he answered the truth.

“Staring into your eyes.”

This only made Derpy blush harder as she started to look everywhere in the room, only to avert his gaze.

“W-Why? T-They are not anything special I-I mean, they are like the sign of my clumsiness, I hate those eyes.”

Her last statement brought him back on earth, and now with a little anger and disappointment he said.

“You hate your eyes? How could you, you have most beautiful eyes I ever saw, besides there’s nothing weird about your eyes, they just seem to don’t agree in which direction you want to look, on the other hoofs my eyes are different.”

“What do you mean? You have two beautiful teal eyes, what are you talking about?”

Derpy blushed a little when she realized she called his eyes beautiful, but he didn’t seem to notice that or he simply didn’t care, Blaze sighed and said.

“Listen Derpy, I’m going to show you something that until now, on my own will, I only showed to princesses.”

Her ears perked up and she tensed her posture, as if showing him that he can trust her on this one. He didn’t know why he wanted to show her this, he just met her and it was a rather painful meeting as well. But for some reason he trusted her, maybe because of her clumsiness, or that she was so friendly towards him, he didn’t know why, but he wanted to share his secret with her.

Blaze’s horn glowed in dark-blue light for a few moments and then he opened his still teal left eye.

“I don’t get it, it’s still normal.”

Blaze nodded and then he slowly opened his right eye, Derpy’s jaw hang open at the sight, his right eye was yellow, of course dichromatic eyes weren’t something that you meet every day but it wasn’t as surprising and weird as his pupil which was cat-like.

‘Step 1 jaw opened wide, check.

Now just like any other pony who saw it before I learned this how to hide under illusion

Step 2. Call me a freak

Step 3 –Optional- punch me in the muzzle

Step 4 Run away.’

Blaze awaited for her reaction, somewhere deep in his heart he was hoping that she won’t act like everypony else, however his mind was rather quickly shutting those hopes away.

“Your right eye, it’s really..”

‘Creepy? Scary? Disgusting? I was once even called a Nightmare Moon offspring, this one was rather funny though.’

“..interesting, and kind of cool, I never saw a pony with such pupil, only some animals and dragons.”

Blaze was completely stunned, his heart was now screaming with happiness, wide smile formed on his muzzle, it was first time anypony else than Princesses would compliment his eye.

He suddenly jumped towards her throwing his front legs on her neck and pulling her into a hug.

It caught Derpy completely off-guard as her cheeks shined with bright red.

“W-W-What is it Blaze?”

“Nothing, it’s just, I’m so happy you crushed into me, we met less then hour ago, but I already can tell your are going to be my best friend.”

His comment made Derpy happy, but at the same time saddened her a little, she didn’t understand why, then he did something she was completely unprepared for.

Blaze leaned forward and kissed Derpy on the cheek.

What happened next wasn’t expected by neither of them.

*POMF*

Derpys wings unfolded themselves, making her blush even stronger than before. Even Blaze was blushing now, he couldn’t think about their situation anything else then.

‘Well, this is awkward.’

Sorry this chapter is so short, I wanted to make it longer but I just felt that ending this at that scene will be better.

Derpy and Blaze were sitting at the couch in awkward silence averting each other eyes, Blaze was focusing his sight on the ticking clock, watching as seconds flew by.

“I-I’m sorry, I don’t know why it happened.” Derpy said blushing hardly, she couldn’t remember being so embarrassed before, she flinched as Blaze gently put his hoof on her shoulder.

“Hey no problem, let’s just pretend it never happened.” Derpy finally looked at him and nodded smiling, Blaze smiled back and while putting illusion back on his eye he stood up from the couch.

“Well it surely was fun here but I have to find this apple farm, so I think I’ll better go.”

“Oh yea, of course.” She said with a small portion of sadness in her voice, which didn’t go unnoticed by Blaze.

“Hey Ditzy.”

“Yeah?”

“Maybe you want to hang out tomorrow? I mean, if you have some free time.”

Derpy smiled and nodded in joy, seeing her this happy made his heart melt a little ‘She looks so adorable when she’s happy’ he thought.

They walked together towards Derpy’s doors, they made their goodbye’s and Blaze left her house, he hoped nopony saw him leaving her home like this, he might be kinda asocial, but he knew that sight of bandaged stallion leaving mare’s house might produce some weird rumors.

He started trotting forward, after few minutes he stopped and face hoofed.

‘Why didn’t I ask her where this Celestia forsaken farm is?'

After swearing over himself for few moments, he decided that trying to find it will result in him wandering all over Ponyville for rest of the day, so instead of trying to find it, he simply started to walk forward, hoping to find it sooner or later.

And so he walked, for 10 minutes.

20 minutes.

Hour

2 Hours.

And he finally gave up.

He looked around for a place to rest a little and think of what to do, he was in the park full of other ponies, and then he face hoofed again.

‘I was walking around for 2 hours and didn’t think of asking a random pony about this farm, and they are saying that Derpy is dumb.’

He calmed himself down and walked towards first pony he saw, it was small yellow filly with red mane, she didn’t have a cutie mark.

“Hello.” As he greeted her she turned around and smiled

“Howdy mister, can Ah help you with something?”

“I hope you do, you see I’m new here and right now I’m trying to find the place I’m supposed to stay at.”

“And Ah guess ya can’t find it right?”

Blaze nodded in slight embarrassment, he never had good field orientation, back in Canterlot it took him 2 months to finally learn how to move around the castle without getting lost, of course he’s condition gave Princess Luna a lot of occasions for some pranks.

“No problem mister, just tell meh where ya’ll wanna go and Ah’ll show ya the way.” She said smiling wide, Blaze always liked children, seeing her smiling like this made him calm down and smile in happiness.

“Thanks, the place is called “Sweet Apple Acres” it’s local apple farm, you know where it is?”

Her smiled vanished quickly and her expression changed from happiness to confusion.

“Ya’ll staying at Sweet Apple Acres?”

“Yup, that’s what Princess Celestia suggested as a good place to lodge at during my stay in Ponyville.”

Her ears perked up and her smiled returned.

“Ya are a student of Princess Celestia like Twilight?”

Blaze flinched a little at mention of super-boring unicorn and said.

“Nope better, I’m best student of Princess Luna, the name’s Midnight Blaze, nice to meet you.” He smiled and held his head high showing his pride of being her student.

Filly was now beaming.

“Mah name is Applebloom mister Blaze, and Ah perfectly know where Sweet Apple Acres are.”

“Really? That’s great. Can you show me the way?”

Applebloom nodded and slowly trotted away, Blaze following her.

‘Why didn’t I think of this earlier? Well whatever, ok so we got this problem out of the list, after I’ll get to the farm I’ll get over with all formalities and paying for accommodation and then, I guess I have to make few more friends and Princess will let me go back to Canterlot.’

Blaze smiled, finally things were going his way, he still didn’t like the idea of being here, but he was starting to hope that his stay won’t be so bad after all, as they walked through Ponyville everypony they greeted them friendly.

‘Seriously, atmosphere here is so different from Canterlot, well any bigger city in particular, but still, wow, and this air, I don’t have any idea why, but it just seems so much better than in Canterlot.’

He inhaled as they walked through the streets in silence, he was constantly looking around trying to memorize the way to the farm, he enjoyed their walk, the more he knew about this place the more he liked it, there were many shops he wanted to explore later, especially the one called “One hundred and one Pranks for all times and ages!”

After some time he finally saw it, huge field of apple trees going almost behind the horizon, he gasped at this sight and Applebloom lifted her head up with pride noticing his reaction.

“What do ya think huh?”

“I-It’s amazing, I never saw so many apple trees at the same place, just wow.”

Applebloom chuckled a little and motioned him to follow her.

‘Finally here, all right, my friendship studies shall start NOW!’

Full of energy and ambition he followed her towards huge red house in the middle of the orchard, he had huge hopes, what he didn’t know, is that the true friendship isn’t as easy to build as he thought.

But he will soon learn about it.

Chapter 6

Blaze was following Apple Bloom towards the farm, he used magic to check if he didn’t lost any money princess gave him, to his relief none of his bits went lost from his saddlebags when Derpy crushed into him, he chuckled a little and looked forward, they finally reached their destination, in front of huge red house was standing an old looking mare waving towards them with a smile.

“Hey Apple Bloom, Ah though you will beh coming back later on.” She said while yellow filly happily trotted towards her.

“Cause that’s what Ah was planning, but then this mister asked me to show him how to get here.” She said while pointing towards Blaze who now was awkwardly smiling.

“Hi.” He simply said.

Granny Smith walked towards him, she stopped few inches from him and leaned close in with one of her eyes closed and other one was scanning him thoroughly.

He backed away a little with confusion.

“Erm? Something’s wrong?”

“What did ya come here for boy?”

Blaze gulped and almost shaking said.

“I-I was sent to Ponyville by the order of Princess Luna to study the principle of friendship, and while I’m staying here Princess Celestia suggested that I should stay at your farm, I-I’ll pay of course.”

Granny Smith leaned back, her stoic almost intimidating expression softened and she put a huge smile on her muzzle.

“Well howdy there, Ah’ll be happy to have ya stay here, we Apples will never reject a guest, especially if he’s paying.”

Blaze sighed with relief, with a corner of his eye he saw that throughout his whole conversation with Granny Smith Apple Bloom was chuckling.

“So how much for a room? Currently I have 500 bits to spend, is it enough?”

Granny’s smith expression changed to that of a confussion.

“Mah dear, of course that’s enough, for 500 bits ya can stay here for at least a month.”

Blaze frowned a little.

‘A month? Like hell I’ll stay here for a month, well but Princess Luna said to spend all 500 bits on my accommodation.’

Blaze sighed and gave Granny Smith his pouch with bits, she took them and passed them to Apple Bloom telling her to put them in the closet.

“Erm Mrs. Smith?”

“Yes dear?” Old mare turned around facing him again.

“Aren’t you going to count them?”

Granny Smith put on a puzzled expression and asked him.

“What ya didn’t put all 500 bits in there?”

“Well I did, but are you just going to believe me without checking it?”

“Of course my dear, why shouldn’t I believe you?” She smiled after she finished and turned around trotting into the house while motioning him to follow her.

Blaze was stunned, back in the Canterlot he never saw somepony trusting somepony he didn’t know, no, those ponies back in the capital would never be able to give such trust to each other.

It actually scared him a little, he lived in this atmosphere of distrust since he was born, it was until Princess Luna took him in as her student, but she was only pony that he ever truly trusted, at least until now, for some reason he felt he could trust the certain clumsy mare, he didn’t understand why he was giving her his trust after meeting her few hours ago, but he was happy about it.

Blaze shook his head and walked inside, follow Granny Smith he trotted through the big living room which was connected to kitchen, then upstairs, they stepped into long hallway with many doors, Granny started to explain him which doors are for what.

“This is a toilet, but ya’ll be using the toilet downstairs, this one is for the ladies.”

Blaze’s ears perked up and he asked.

“Ladies? There are mares living here? From what Princess told me it was just you and your grandson.”

Granny Smith turned around once again wearing her expression of confusion.

“What da ya mean? Ah’m sure she wouldn’t forget about Applejack and Apple Bloom, Oh well Ah bet she thought she told ya, that happens.”

Blaze nodded, he didn’t really care about that fact, but one thing surprised him.

“Wait Apple Bloom is your grandchild?”

Granny Smith smiled and nodded

‘Huh, how come I didn’t realize that when she asked her to take the money and hide it inside? Well whatever.’

“And this youngling, is your room.” Granny Smith said while opening a door to the rather big room, it had one 2-ponies sized bed, big wardrobe near the wall, and clock on the wall.

Blaze smiled, he liked it that way, simple yet comfortable.

“Since ya are the guest here, Ah guess you won’t be waking up as early as we do, is there anything else we can help with?”

“No thank you kindly, I guess I’ll rest a little.” Granny Smith smiled and closed the door.

Blaze turned towards his bed, he dropped his saddlebags on the floor and jumped on it.

‘I don’t know if it’s because of this amazing fresh air or what, but I really could enjoy a small nap.’

He closed his eyes and almost immediately drifted away into the land of dreams, land that he knew very well, he opened his eyes, he was back in the canterlot castle.

‘All righty then, I wonder if I can still do this, I didn’t practice this for quite some time.’

Blaze focused, his horn glowed and he ripped a small hole in the air which was slowly expanding, after few moments it finally was big enough for him to walk inside, he stopped his magic and slowly crossed the hole in his dream entering this special place only he and Princess Luna were capable of reaching, even Princess Celestia wasn’t permitted to enter it.

The dream realm.

He walked through it, sure it was only evening but still many ponies out there were sleeping and dreaming, some of them were napping happily laying down on the grass, others were night workers which were sleeping during the day, some of them were also tired.

Blaze smiled, it made him happy that no matter what will happen ponies will always have this one thing that will make them happy, dreams.

And to be the guard of this reality alongside his Teacher, it made him proud, he kept on trotting forward looking for eventual nightmares. And he finally found one, he walked towards it and used his magic to go inside.

He opened his eyes and he stood somewhere, it was rather a weird sensation, like he wasn’t standing on the ground anymore.

Blaze’s eyes went wide and he looked down, sure enough he wasn’t standing on the ground, he was in the clouds, he looked around, it wasn’t just some small cloud, it was Cloudsdale.

‘Ok so who’s nightmare is this?’

Blaze horn glowed again, before him appeared a small dot of blue light and after few moments it flew off.

Blaze trotted after it going through the streets of Cloudsdale, it was sure quite empty with nopony anywhere to be found here, but it was just a dream after all.

Blaze pitied those ponies who had nightmares during evening naps, those were probably the worst kind, he loved napping and knew how much of a pain in the plot it can be to have a nightmares during it.

Blue dot crossed another corner and finally stopped, Blaze ran just behind it and he also stopped.

“You shouldn’t have been born freak.”

“Yeah all you can do is break stuff!”

“Go kill yourself you retard!”

Blaze couldn’t possible expect this, he saw small filly surrounded by other small ponies which were bullying her.

This filly was Derpy.

Chapter 7

Blaze stood frozen, looking at the scene unfolding before him, he couldn’t believe it, this cheerful, clumsy mare was having such nightmare, he instantly started to recall all of the lessons his teacher gave him about dreams and nightmares.

There were many different types of nightmares, some of them were born of simple fear, others were created from worrying about some difficult task, for example when somepony was going to participate in some tournament, being nervous and feeling unsure about it would usually bring nightmares.

But this kind of nightmare was neither of those, this nightmare was made from memory, painful memory.

"Why were you even born? You always only break things!”

Foals continued to bully her, Blaze looked at Derpy, she was crying, her muzzle showing expression of pure sadness.

He couldn’t stand it anymore, he did what he was supposed to do from the beggining, his horn glowed, and after few moments all those bullying kids were gone, Ditzy, still hiding her muzzle in her hoofs didn’t realize that as she continued crying.

But saving her from just one nightmare won’t resolve the problem, Blaze knew it, nightmares made from memories will come back until those fears are faced properly.

As Blaze was thinking about resolution, Derpy finally noticed that all those foals are gone, she looked around looking for the cause of their disappearance, but she couldn’t find it, Blaze already covered himself in his illusions hiding behind unexistant wall.

‘Don’t worry Derpy, I can only assume what kind of painful memories are hunting you, but I’ll help you, for now I’ll let you have a peacful dream, and tommorrow, I’ll assist you in facing your fears once and for all.’

Blaze horn glowed and he left Derpy’s dream, to his relief she was smiling again, still looking around for her savior.

After few moments he stood in the hallway of dreams again, he stood in place for few moments thinking about his clumsy friend, and then started walking again, searching for other nightmares.

And soon he found it, without hesitation he used his magic and soon he stood there.

It was dark, Blaze could hardly see anything, it surprised him as his right eye not only looked cat-like, he could always see well in the dark thanks to it.

Blaze tried to make some light with his horn, but it quickly vanished into nothingness, he shrug it off and started walking forward hoping to find owner of this dream.

After some walking around he heard quiet sobbing, he trotted towards it and after few moments he could finally see something.

Small filly was sitting on the unexistant floor, even though everything in this place was completely dark, he could see her clearly, like she was the only source of light in this place.

She had orange coat and purple mane, she was a pegasus but had rather small wings.

Blaze walked towards her, he assumed that this fear was born because of some problem she’s having in the real life, those kind of nightmares aren’t so hard to deal with.

He stood behind her and gently tapped her shoulder with his hoof.

She flinched and turned around, even though she was looking directly at him, she couldn’t see him, small tears flowing through her eyes.

"H-Hello?” Small filly asked hoping for somepony to answer.

Blaze opened his muzzle and tried to talk but his voice didn’t leave his throat, he now knew what was the problem, his horn glowed and darkness in the room started to slowly vanish, after few moments they both stood on the small hill covered in grass, Celestia’s sun was high in the sky showering them with rays of light.

Small filly looked around and then at Blaze, he was smiling warmly.

"Hello there, what’s your name?”

"S-Scootaloo.” She said with cracking voice still sobbing a little.

"You don’t have to fear me dear Scootaloo, I came here to help you with your nightmares.”

Scootaloo flinched a little and looked at him with wide eyes.

"Nightmares? So t-this is just a dream?”

"Of course.”

"But why are you in my dreams? I thought only Princess Luna can walk into other ponies dreams.”

"Cause that’s truth, and she taught me that art, as I’am Midnight Blaze, her most faithful student, nice to meet you.”

Scootaloo’s ears perked up and smile finally formed on her muzzle.

"Scootaloo, your tell me, did anything that made you nervous recently happened?”

Scootaloo’s smile vanished and hang her head low.

"Please tell me the truth, I won’t be able to help if you won’t tell me, and this nightmare will return.”

Scootaloo started to nervously rub one of her arms with her hoof, she sighed and looked at him.

"S-Some time ago Rainbow Dash, the coolest and most awesome flyer in all of Equestria took me under her wing, it was best day of my life, I was so happy, she started giving me lessons on flying, and tommorrow, t-tommorrow.”

Scootaloo stopped for a second, she collected her courage and continued.

"Tommorrow I was supposed to finally fly for the first time in my life, Rainbow said that I’ll be fine and she’s sure I’ll be able to, but, but…”

"But you are not so sure yourself?”

She nodded.

Blaze now understood, her nightmare came as the dark isolated place as she didn’t know who to talk to about her problem, or perhaps she didn’t want to, anyway he now knew exactly what he has to do.

"Scootaloo, I know how you must feel, but listen to me, what do you think will happen if you fail?”

She looked at him with still watery eyes.

"W-What do you mean?”

"I’m asking you what do you think will happen if you won’t manage to fly tommorrow? You think that Rainbow will abandon you?”

Scootaloo didn’t know what to say so she just stayed quiet and waited for him to continue.

"She’s your teacher, your friend, and most of all she’s the element of loyalty. Are you really thinking so low of her?”

Scootaloo now looked at him with anger in her eyes.

"Of course not! She’s awesome, and she would never leave anypony in trouble.”

"When why are you so scared?”

She once again hang her head low and after few moments of silence she said.

"I-I don’t want to dissapoint her.”

Blaze walked towards her and sat down on his haunches beside her.

"You know, I had such problem too.”

She quickly lifted her head and looked at him.

"You did?”

Blaze chuckled a little.

"Yea, it was one year after Princess Luna took me in as her student, and it was time for my first test, I knew I’ll pass most of it without problems, however there were some spells I had problem with, night before the test I was extremely nervous, and those nightmares came to me.”

She looked at him with curiosity, he smiled warmly and continued.

"So on the day of the test, I was so nervous about those few spells that I actually failed other spells that I knew perfectly well.”

Blaze sighed and continued.

"But you know what? Instead of scolding me after the test ended, she smiled at me warmly, and acted like nothing happened, I asked her few days later if she’s dissapointed, you know what she told me?”

Scootaloo shook her head.

"She told me that from time to time we win, but there also times that we lose, you can either let the sadness of losing overtake you, or use it as fertilizer for future victories.”

Blaze looked at Scootaloo and tapped her gently on the top of her head.

"And so I did, I looked back at what I did wrong, and made sure to never do those mistakes again.”

He stood back on all four and looked at Scootaloo.

"Victories are filling our hearts with joy, however our failures are making us stronger if you use them to become better, instead of giving up.”

Scootaloo finally smiled again, her expression filled with confidence, she jumped towards him and threw her arms around his neck startling him a little a first.

"Thank you mister Blaze, thank you so much.”

Blaze smiled, his horn glowed and with joy in his heart he left her dream.

He stood again in the realm of dreams, he grew tired already, although he was able to do the same thing as his teacher, he wasn’t able to cleanse as many nightmares as she would, he could probably help few other ponies, but he decided to leave it for the night, as he found his own dream and jumped into it, he stood in the canterlot castle main hall for few seconds before waking up in his bed on the farm.

As he woke from his nap, he looked through a window, it was slowly getting dark, but he knew he wasn’t going to go to sleep, no he took that nap to be able to do something else.

He stood up and put his saddlebags back on, he walked out of his room and then out of the house, outside he met smiling Granny Smith.

"Howdy there, did you enjoy your nap?”

He nodded and slowly trotted in the direction of Ponyville.

"Where are ya going? It’s going to get dark soon.”

He turned around and smiled at her.

"There’s a place I want to explore tonight, it’s called BlueBerry club.”

Chapter 8

Blaze walked towards loud building, he smiled when he saw familiar line forming all the way from club entrance up to where he was standing, at least 40 ponies were waiting for enter.

He sighed, nothing he could do about it, he stood still waiting for his turn, he used to fool bodyguards back in Canterlot by changing into their bosses, he couldn’t do it here yet sadly, he didn’t know how boss of this place looked like.

So he stood there, patiently waiting as line was slowly mowing onwards, some ponies were bumping their heads to the beat, to his surprise there were 3 ponies that started dancing outside. Someponies were talking, since he didn’t have anypony to talk to he simply listened to others.

Some mares were talking about how their weekend ended, there was also a pair which was trying dirty talk with each other especially the mare, Blaze ignored that, he quickly got bored by those meaningless conversation and just listened to the beat coming from the club.

As he was getting closer it was starting to agonize him, he almost couldn’t stop himself from dancing. Through his whole life he had only two real friends, but even so he loved to go nightclubs, it was always same routine.

Enjoy music and dance a little.

Join a group of either friendly ponies or group of ponies that are already too drunk to reject any guest in their group.

Hang out with them, have some fun.

Go back home.

He liked it, because of this he met many, many ponies in his life, but he hardly remembered any of them, except for Princess Luna, and his best friend he met in the club one night.

Blaze was totally excited when he finally got to the head of the line, few more minutes and he would go inside, then his moment finally came.

“How many bits for the enter?” Blaze asked already searching for bits with his magic.

“30 bits sir.”

“That’s actually quite expensive.”

“You don’t have to go inside if you don’t want to.”

Blaze sighed and used his magic to pass bits to the bodyguard, who put them into small metal box already full of bits, he then motioned for Blaze to enter and he did so.

When he walked inside wave of bass covered his body making his cells shiver, he loved this sensation, he looked around, floor was full everypony was dancing either, with a partner or even in a group. It was quite early but club was full already, that was to be expected since this was the only club in Ponyville.

Blaze quickly noticed that most of those Mares and Colts were quite young, some of them weren’t probably even in adult age, he shrugged it off and walked towards bar, when he got close DJ dropped another beat and wave of wubs engulfed Blaze.

He didn’t know who was the DJ here yet, but he was doing a fine job.

Blaze leaned closer to the bartender, brown coated stallion with blond mane and goatee.

“Hey, can I have “Lunas Night” please?” It was one of Blazes favorites. Probably because it was named after his teacher, but that wasn’t the only reason, it was very strong drink, but proper mixing of ingredients managed to completely hide it.

He paid 6 bits and nodded his thanks not wanting to shout again, he loved going to nightclubs but hated to get his throat hoarse.

He turned around to examine his surroundings while drinking, in the center of the club was floor full of dancing ponies bouncing their bodies to the rhythm of the bass, around the floor was a circle of couches where tired ponies could rest, also there were few couples making out on them.

Blaze turned left, DJ’s platform was right there next to the bar, on top of it he saw white mare with blue mane, she was wearing a pair of shades. She was an unicorn.

Blaze smiled and drank the rest of his drink, as expected alcohol soon started to take its toll on him, he was a rather strong drinker, but his pace of drinking and strength of “Lunas Night” summed up were making him feel dizzy, and he liked that.

He ordered another one and bottomed it out quickly, deciding that it’s enough for now he left bar and went to the dance floor, he started dancing wildly, he never learnt how to dance he always improvised, like most of the ponies.

When he was dancing something caught his eye, pony on the DJ platform changed, now it was a stallion, which meant that white mare either finished her shift or had a break.

Blaze smirked, he pushed his way out of the crowd and went towards new DJ, when he was just under the platform he shouted towards him.

“HEY YOU UP THERE, WHERE IS THIS WHITE MARE FROM BEFORE?”

He seemed to hear blaze as he leaned down and shouted in response.

“WHAT?”

“I ASKED WHERE IS THIS WHITE MARE FROM BEFORE.” Blaze shivered as another drop of bass sent a wave of wubs towards him.

“YOU MEAN VINYL? SHE FINISHED HER SHIFT SHE’S PROBABLY GOING HOME RIGHT NOW.”

Blaze frowned a little and nodded his thanks, that was one of the options although he hoped that she was taking a break.

‘Oh well I’ll talk to her another day, or perhaps should I say night.’ Blaze chuckled a little and went to the bar, he ordered another “Lunas night” and decided to drink it outside, he wanted to get some fresh air.

Since entrance bodyguard didn’t quite like him for some reasons, or at least it seemed so, Blaze decided to walk outside with the backdoor, using his art of illusions to get there unseen.

He walked outside and released his spell, he took few sips of his drink when he heard something, it was voice of mare, then a stallion voice.

He shrugged it off at first but then quickly realized that this wasn’t normal talking, they there both shouting.

Deciding that he should check that just in case he walked towards the source of those voices and he saw them, three stallions surrounding a white mare, his eyes went wide when he realized it was the DJ from before.

‘How did this guy call her? Oh right Vinyl.’

“Buck off.” Mare growled with anger towards smiling stallions, all three of them were quite drunk yet not completely wasted yet.

“Oh my lady, harsh words, good I like it harsh.”

“I said buck off, before I will rip you guys to pieces.”

All of them laughed, they were probably right though, two of them were Earth ponies and third one was unicorn, all three of them were huge, she didn’t stood a chance.

“Why are you saying no to us while you are lifting your tail for every stallion in town you slut.” He said now with angry expression, Vinyl curled a little her muzzle slowly showing signs of fear.

“That’s not true!”

“Oh really? Please everypony knows that you are a whore, about how you give special service if paid for, sorry slut but we ain’t got bits on us.” He said as his friends laughed, few tears rolled down on Vinyl’s cheeks, Blaze couldn’t take it anymore, he drank what was left of his drink and put the glass away, he walked towards them while using his magic, art of illusion, magic made to fool other ponies senses.

“Ok guys, I’m going to take the front while you two…” He stopped when he saw somepony approaching them.

“Who the buck dares to…” He stopped again, from the shadows of the alley they were all in emerged fully equipped Royal guard, and he was huge, at least twice bigger than any of them.

“What is going on here?”

Now it was their time to shiver in fear as Blaze Royal Guard played out his role.

“Well?”

“N-n-nothing sir we were just having fun in the club and, and…”

“And you tried to rape this mare?” Blaze said while looking towards still shivering Vinyl, her eyes were still covered by her shades but he could tell she was scared.

“N-no of course not we just…”

Blaze stomped his hoofs, it wasn’t anything spectacular for him but his foes saw huge legs of enormous royal guard slam to the floor living crack in it.

“GET THE BUCK OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW, AND I BETTER NOT SEE YOU DOING SOMETHING LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN.”
They nodded and quickly dashed away leaving only a trail of dust behind them, Blaze walked towards Vinyl who was slowly calming herself down and lent her a hoof.

“T-Thanks” She said lifting herself up with his help.

“No problem, I couldn’t leave you like that could I? Ohh by the way these were amazing beats you put on back in the club.” Blaze smiled and Vinyl gave him a quizzical expression.

“You were in on my shift? I don’t think I would forget huge guy like you dancing around in that armor.”

Blaze hoof palmed startling her a little, his horn glowed and he released his illusion showing himself to Vinyl.

She stared agape at him, he loved that moment of surprise when he showed somepony his illusions for first time.

“Y-You, what the hay was that?”

“An Illusion.”

“That was, wow I never saw somepony using this magic before, I heard about it though. By the way name's Vinyl Scratch”

"Midnight Blaze."

Blaze laughed a little, he didn’t know if it was the alcohol making him this bold or not but after few moments of silence he asked.

“Hey you finished your shift right? So maybe you wanna hang out? Night is still young and I would love to have a mare this beautiful to accompany me.”

She blushed a little.

“I was thinking about going home, but after what happened here I don’t think I’ll be able to go to sleep anyway, so sure let’s go.” Blaze nodded and they walked away from the alley.

“So where do you wanna go?” She asked.

“I don’t know, I got here today so I don’t know this place too well, are there any interesting bars where you can drink in silence?”

She chuckled a little.

“What, what is it?” He asked curious.

“Nothing, you just said that you loved music I played, but now you already want to go somewhere silent.”

“Cause in loud place I won’t be able to talk with you too much, and I want to know you better.” Blaze didn’t know what was he doing, was it the alcohol? He didn’t think so, he used to drink more in Canterlot but her never tried to

Tried to what?

Was he flirting with her? Or was he just honest with himself and was trying to befriend her? And if he was then why? Was it because Princess Luna ordered him to? Or perhaps was this because of this place friendly atmosphere? He got caught up in his thoughts and almost didn’t notice her talking.

“There is one place, follow me.” She smiled and motioned him to follow her, after some walking around they finally made it, bar was called “Smooth&Drinks” as they walked in Blaze quickly understood why was it called so, smooth jazz playing in the background.

Vinyl and Blaze took a seat on the couch next to each other, waiter came and took their orders, Vinyl took some whisky with cola while Blaze happily ordered yet another “Lunas night” this was his fourth, with the pace of his drinking he assumed that he will be done at 6th.

“So you liked my beats huh? Thanks, that’s always nice to hear.” She said with a bit of shyness in her voice, Blaze nodded and took a sip of his beloved drink.

“So you said you just got here?”

“Yeah, It’s a long story.”

“We have time.” She said while drinking her whisky.

“Sure but can you do something for me?”

“Yeah sure what is it?”

“Can you remove your shades?”

She was surprised a bit by his request but shrugged it off and nodded with a smile and used her magic to remove them.

Blaze gulped and stared into her eyes.

“D-dude what is it? Do I have something on my muzzle?”

“No it’s just that your eyes are amazing, they make you look even more stunning, you shouldn’t hide them behind those shades too much you know.”

His comment caught her off guard and she blushed hard, hoping he won’t notice she drank rest of her whisky hoping to calm down and waving at waitress to request another one.

“S-s-so what’s your story?” She said smiling nervously, he leaned back in his couch and sighed, it was then that she examined him more carefully, and she liked what she saw, he was her type, he was neither too big nor too small, he was quite muscular for unicorn, he didn’t have big muscles, but those he had were very well developed. She also liked his black and white mane, there was something about it that made her shiver.

“So I’ll try to make this as short as possible..” He started his summarized story of how he got under Lunas wings, and events that led to why he is there right now.

It took him few minutes to finish and he managed to drink what was left of his 4th drink and ordered 5th one, while Vinyl who was quicker managed to drink another 3 glasses of whisky, which made her quite dizzy.

“Wow, that’s amazing dude, High hoof.” She raised her hoof and after few moments of processing her words he raised his hoof towards her bumping it in mid-air.

They sat on the couch talking about different things like music, alcohols they even once got to the subject of politics, occasionally flirting with each other, and then it happened.

Blaze got too caught up in their conversation and didn’t realized he drank his 7th drink tonight. Before he knew his vision blurred, he couldn’t make out anymore words, as if through fog he saw himself and Vinyl walking somewhere together before his vision went dark.

Blaze woke up next morning, he quickly realized the throbbing pain in his head swearing at himself for drinking too much and promising to never do so again.

Yeah right.

His throat was completely hoarse, probably from hangover as he looked around and quickly noticed something that made him flinch.

This wasn’t Apple’s family bedroom.

He felt something moving on his side and take a look, he went pale when he saw Vinyl still sleeping in the bed next to him.

“Oh bucking hell.”

Chapter 9

‘This is bad, definitely bad’.
Blaze thought to himself while looking on still sleeping Vinyl next to him, her shades were laying on the night shelf next to the bed. Suddenly she started to open her eyes and lifter herself up to a sitting position, she yawned stretching her front legs and wiped her eyes.

Vinyl looked at still shocked Blaze and smiled.

“Hello there mr. “I can drink 8th drink without any problem” how are you?”

Vinyl’s question made Blaze realize his head was pounding and his bones felt like they were being smashed.

“I’ve been better, Vinyl what ha...”

“What happened yesterday night right?” She smirked and looked at him with mischievous expression, Blaze nodded slightly and she continued.

“Well we talk quite a lot and at one point you asked me if I was single, I said yes so you asked what would I say about a “One-Night stand” and BAM we’re here.”

Blaze muzzle went pale and after few moments of silence Vinyl burst out laughing.

“Oh my Celestia you should’ve seen your muzzle, it’s priceless.”

Blaze was dumbfounded as Vinyl continued to laugh and his expression slowly changed into that full of anger.

“HA ha oh buck, noo don’t worry Blazey, nothing happened, you just passed out after your 8th drink and I wanted to carry you back to farm, but it was quite far from the bar and since I too was quite drunk I didn’t have enough strength and patience so I brought you to my place instead, it was closer.”

Blaze sighed with relief and softened his expression, Vinyl calmed herself and stopped laughing, Blaze opened his mouth to say something but he got quickly stopped by the pain in his brain.

“Heh guess you won’t have a good day, I know dat feel.” Vinyl shivered remembering some of her more crazy drinking nights and looked with pity on Blaze.

“By the way that right eye of yours, so cool, you were born with it?”

It took Blaze few moments to register her words and he became pale again, his illusion are always fading during his sleep, which also means his cover of the Reptilian eye.

“Y-You like it?” He said hesitantly

“Yeah sure I mean, I never saw something like that before, sure bat ponies have that but a regular pony with cat eye? That’s cool.” She smiled and nodded in approvement.

Blaze smiled, another pony acknowledged his otherness.

‘Maybe Princesses were right, maybe making friends ain’t such a bad idea after all.’

“Thanks Vinyl, thanks for everything.”

Vinyl shaped her muzzle into confused expression as she didn’t know what was he so thankful about, but she thought that he meant taking care of him when he passed out so she smiled and nodded.

Blaze then realized that they are still sitting in same bed in which they also slept together, it made him blush a little although he didn’t know why, they only slept together after all.

“Soo umm.”

“What is it Blazey?”

“Why are you calling me that?”

“What I can’t?”

Blaze blushed a little and nodded sheepishly, and then he had an idea.

“But only If you will let me call you Snow White.”

Vinyl once again put a questioning expression.

“Why?”

“Cause your coat is white like a winter snow, it’s really beautiful.”

This time it was Vinyl turn to blush which was quite visible considering color of her coat.

“T-Thanks.”

They smiled looking each other in the eyes, Blaze felt this weird feeling yet again.

“Vinyl, I’m back from Canterlot, I hope you didn’t destroy our hou…” Octavia stood in the doors to Vinyl’s room staring agape at her friend and some stallion sitting together in Vinyl’s bed.

Blaze looked at Vinyl at then at Octavia, then again at Vinyl and he realized how it looked like.

“Emmm Hey Tavi?”

“VINYL WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? I’M LEAVING FOR 3 DAYS AND YOU ALREADY HAVE SOME RANDOM STALLION IN YOUR BED?!”

Blaze not only felt fear because of her outburst but also the pain in his head doubled sending a shiver down his spine making him cover his ears in agony.

“Hey hey Tavi calm down, nothing happened, besides this isn’t some random stallion it’s my friend Midnight Blaze.”

“H-Hello, i-it’s nice to meet you” Blaze stammered

“What do you mean nothing happened? How did nothing happened? His in your bucking bed VINYL!”

“Octi let me explain for bucks sake.”

Octavia took ten big breaths and calmed herself down a little, she sat down on her haunches and stared daggers at them while calmly stating:

“Speak then.”

Vinyl told her everything that happened since Blaze saved her back in the alley, who he is and why is he here, Octavia sometime would ask a question or two, she also asked about his right eye, in response Blaze said it was like this since he was born and covered it behind illusion before anypony else will see it. Octavia didn’t react to the difference of his right eye at all simply shrugging it away, after Vinyl finished explaining gray mare sighed.

“I-I’m sorry Mr. Blaze I misunderstood the situation.”

“No, really I understand your reaction, I mean we kinda were in an awkward situation after all.” Blaze smiled to which Octavia returned the smile, three of them were now walking downstairs towards the front doors.

“You sure you will be fine? You have one mighty hangover.” Vinyl asked

“Thanks for the care Snow White, I’ll be fine I know a spell that can lower the pain.” Blaze smiled at slightly blushing Vinyl.

“See ya next time then Blazey.” Blaze nodded and bumped hoofs with vinyl, he then did a small bow towards Octavia and left.

“Snow White? Blazey? You are sure nothing happened?” Octavia said teasingly.

“S-Shut up.”

Blaze trotted down the street mumbling in anger under his muzzle, earning stares of some ponies he passed by, as far as he loved going to clubs he hated hangovers the very next day.

Suddenly he heard someone yelling in excitement, as far as it made his head hurt he decided to find out hoping that he won’t regret it later.

Blaze walked towards the source of those noises and he finally saw them, a mare and a filly both jumping and screaming with joy, to his further surprise he knew both of them.

“I did it! I did it!”

“Congrats Scoots, I knew you had it in you!” Rainbow high hoofed Scootalo.

“That’s amazing, I can fly! Rainbow I can fly!” Scootalo jumped into the air and throw her arms around Rainbow’s neck engulfing her in a hug.

“Thank you so so much!”

Dash was a little startled by sudden hug, but she quickly returned it.

“No problem Scoots, no problem.” They stayed like that for a moment completely oblivious that a pair of teal eyes were observing them, huge smile forming beneath them.

“Hey Scoots, come on since now you can fly I can teach you all these tricks that I only told you about before.”

Orange filly smiled and wilder and flew after her idol.

Blaze only sighed in relief and continued his walk towards…

Towards what?

Blaze stopped in his tracks and realized that he didn’t know where he was going, he didn’t even know what time is it, by the sun position he knew it was somewhere near the noon.

‘Should I go back to the farm? Or actually, I’m quite interested why nopony knew about my arrival, I mean Princess Luna wrote a letter to Twilight…

That’s right!’

Blaze decided to find out and trotted toward the town library, which luckily for him wasn’t easy to miss as it was tall enough for him to see it over the roofs of other ponies houses.

It took him around 12 minutes of walking, feeling pain each time he heard something louder than his own hoofsteps and he finally stood before Ponyville’s library, house of the most boring pony in Equestria, at least in his opinion.

He gulped and knocked few times on the door.

“Come in, it’s public library you don’t have to knock.” To his surprise that wasn’t a mare voice, that was definitely a male voice, but not a grown stallion voice more like a colt.

He opened the doors and walked in, he was greeted by small purple dragon.

“Hey there mister, I’m Spike is there any book you are interested in?”

“Actually I’m here to meet with *sigh* Twilight Sparkle, is she home?”

“She is, but she kinda is busy with this weird book she got from Princess Celestia you know.”

“I just wanted to ask her some questions.”

“I-I guess we can try but, ok sure she’s upstairs.”
Spike made a “follow me” motion with his claw and Blaze did so, they walked upstairs and saw Twilight completely cut off the reality staring into the open page of her book. It looked very old and when Blaze looked at those weird letters he quickly realized he can’t read it.

“Ekhm Twilight?” Spike nudged her a little

“hmm?” Was her only response.

“You have a guest.”

“Tell them I’m busy.”

“Yeah but he is standing right beside me.”

“Hello Ms. Twilight, my name is Midnight Blaze I’m personal student of Princess Luna.”

Twilight’s ears perked up at the mention of her mentor’s younger sister and she finally looked away from her book, Spike was looking agape at Blaze who was standing there with stoic expression.

“Princess Luna student? It’s nice to meet you, I’m sorry for this rude behavior of mine but I really like reading, and this one is quite a challenge.”

Blaze only wanted to find out why she didn’t knew about his arrival, but words found their way out of his mouth before his brain could react.

“What is this book about?” Blaze mentally slapped himself

“Oh it’s about Nightmares, Princess Celestia told me to don’t tell anypony but I guess I can share this information with personal student of her younger sister right?” Twilight chuckled a little.

“Well I already know everything about nightmares so…”

“Oh it’s not about those nightmares you are thinking about, Princess found this book by accident hidden in Royal Archives, she couldn’t decipher it, this book is written in old Equestrian language used around 800 years ago.”

“But both princesses are much older than that, how come she doesn’t know it?”

“That’s because that language was forgotten long ago, I guess after not using it at all for over 700 years you might forget it.”

“So how are you deciphering it?”

“I’m using this old dictionary back from those times.” Twilight said while pointing towards other old book with her hoof.

“And why are you doing this and not Princess Celestia? She once spoke this language I think it would be faster.”

“Perhaps, but she doesn’t have time, she have a lot of royal duties.”

Blaze nodded.

“So what did you learn about those “Nightmares” ?” Blaze asked, it surprised him but talking with her wasn’t now as boring as he thought it would be.

“So basically these Nightmares that this book is about are some kind of dark powers that resides hidden in ponies, it would seem that everypony is born with them but only a few ever witnessed it.”

She looked at Blaze who nodded for her to continue.

“I also learned that there are 7 types of nightmares and if believing in the information from the book, 6 of them already showed up long time ago.”

“What are those types?” Blaze asked.

“Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Pride and Envy, I still don’t know which one of those didn’t show up yet, and what exactly are those powers that Nightmares provide.”

“Well let me know if you will find out something knew.”

“Sure.”

Silence fell over them and they stood staring at each other for few minutes, finally Blaze remembered what his original goal for coming here was and he broke the silence.

“Twilight I wanted to ask you something, didn’t you get a letter from Princess Luna about my arrival?”

Twilight made a confused expression and shook her head, she then looked at Spike who was nervously rubbing back of his head.

“Spike?”

“Oops.”

“Spike you got a letter from princess and didn’t tell me?”

“Well you were at Spa and…”

“Spike, if it’s letter from princess it is always of utmost importance, always!”

“Twilight calm down, everypony make mistakes, don’t shout at him.” He was partly honest, as much as he didn’t like the idea of Twilight screaming at her little assistant, the thing that irritated him much more was growing pain in his head whenever she shout out.

“You’re right, sorry.” Twilight made few long breathes and calmly motioned Spike to follow her, they walked outside where she scolded him this time in a calm way.

Blaze smiled thankful that his pain was lowered when he suddenly felt something engulfing him, he looked at his body but nothing was touching him, but he could feel it, he felt like slowly drowning in the water.

Kill them all

Blaze shivered when he felt strange voice, he didn’t know where it was coming from, but it sounded dark and intimidating.

Kill them all.

Darkness started to fill up his sight as he slowly started to lose consciousness.

Right before passing out he heard somepony running into the room and after that he heard three words echoing in his mind.

Chapter 10

“He still didn’t woke up?”

“I’m afraid not.”

Blaze slowly shifted himself on what he assumed was bed, slowly opening his eyes he was staring at the window, he looked around, room he was in had some bookshelves and a mirror, also roof looked like it was part of the tree.

“C-Can I see him at least?”

“Sure why not.”

Blaze’s ears perked up as he heard hoofsteps approaching the door to the room he was currently laying in, as his vision shifted towards the mirror he gasped quietly realizing that his illusion stopped working and his right repitilian eye was visible.

His horn glowed and he managed to hide his pupil behind illusion at the last moment, doors slowly opened and two ponies slowly walked inside.

They both looked with mouths agape at Blaze who was grinning like an idiot, one of them quickly jumped and wrapped her arms around him embracing him in a hug.

“H-Hey Derpy, what’s wrong? You are acting like I just came back from hell.”

“Well you could say that.” The other pony, who by know Blaze recognized as Twilight Sparkle said.

“What do you mean?” Blaze asked staring at her while gently stroking Derpy’s mane.

“You blacked out week ago.”

“A WEEK?!” Blaze suddenly shouted startling Derpy, to which he nodded in apologetic manner.

“Sorry, this used to happen before but I usually woke up after few hours, one day at most.”

“I know that already, after you lost consciousness I wrote a letter to Princess Luna and Spike sent it immediately. She came as soon as she got it.”

“And?” Blaze asked quite curious about the outcome of his mentor visit.

“She told us the same thing you did, she then visited us again after you didn’t woke up for 3 days, she tried reaching you through your dreams but…”

Blaze nodded as if confirming her to continue.

“…but she couldn’t, Princess said that something was blocking your mind, forbidding her from entering.”

Blaze sighed in disappointment.

“So we learnt nothing new huh…”

His stare shifted towards Derpy who was now sitting next to him on a bed smiling sheepishly.

“By the way, I know why Twilight’s here, since it’s her house and all, but why are you here too?”

Derpy’s smile slowly changed into sad face.

“Y-You would prefer if I wasn’t here?”

“Oh no, no of course not, I was just curious.”

“Well you should know that Derpy came around to see if you woke up every day.”

Blaze’s eyes went wide and he once again looked at Derpy who avoided his gaze, her cheeks started to change color.

“Wow Derpy, that’s, I mean thanks, that means a lot.”

“No worries, besides I wasn’t only pony to visit.”

“Really?” Blaze asked in disbelief.

“Of course, that cool DJ mare came here few times as well.” Derpy said emphasizing word “few”.

“You mean Vinyl?”

They both nodded.

Blaze shifted from sitting to laying position and stared at the roof for few moments while swimming in his thoughts.

‘Huh, so that’s how it feels to have real friends? Like those friends that actually have you back at hard times, and not the type of friends that just like to have some fun with you then you can kiss their flanks?’

“Ummm Blaze, is everything all right?” Twilight asked a bit concerned.

“Oh yes, of course.” He said and jumped off the bed landing on all four.

“A-Are you sure everything’s all right?” Derpy asked with care in her voice.

“I’m might fine, thanks, since I was just napping here all week I don’t want to lose anymore time.” He said grinning.

“Well that’s understandable, but can I ask you something before you leave?” Twilight asked.

“Sure go on.”

“What did you feel before you lost consciousness?”

Blaze mouth opened but then he found himself lost for words.

“Weird, I can’t remember, but it’s not that I don’t have any memory at all, no I remember something but, it feels like watching something through thick fog.”

Twilight nodded and smiled.

“No worries, if you remember anything tell me immediately, maybe I will find something to help you with those fainting accidents of yours.” Twilight said emphasizing last words.

“I sure will, thanks.” Blaze smiled and trotted downstairs, right before he was about to leave he stopped in his tracks and turned around. His gaze connected with Derpy’s making the clumsy mare blush a bit.

“Hey Derpy, wanna hang out a bit?”

His proposition surprised her, but made her happy nevertheless.

“I would love to! I-I mean, yeah sure, why not.” Her gaze shifted towards the floor as she started to poke the floor with her hoof, a view that made Blaze chuckle lightly.

“Then come on! There are still places I haven’t seen here I’m sure.” He dashed off as soon as he finished his sentence.

“W-Wait for me!” Derpy shouted quickly taking off after him.

Twilight laughed and trotted upstairs.

“Well what do you know, our best mailmare has a crush on somepony.” She talked to herself while walking into her room and resuming her studies.

“W-Wait! Blaze!”

“No can do! Try catching me if you can!” He shouted back while running through the crowd as fast as he could, Derpy desperately tried to keep up but she constantly bumped into other ponies.

After few moments she realized he was teasing her, she spread her wings and took off into air, after few moments she spotted him running away towards the town park and dashed into his direction.

Blaze stopped and turned around, his grin changed into small frown when he couldn’t see his clumsy friend in crowd of other ponies.

“Well buck, I just wanted to have some fun and now I have to look for her.”

He started thinking where to look when suddenly he heard something.

A sound he heard before.

He stood there few moments closing his eyes to focus on the sound, then it hit him.

Literally.

Blaze and Derpy rolled for a good minute without stopping, a momentum that clumsy pegasus accumulated slowly vanishing.

They finally came to stop and Blaze slowly opened his eyes, only to start blushing.

Derpy was laying on top of him, her muzzle buried in his chest, after few moments she finally lifted herself, she shake her head and slowly opened her own eyes, their gaze’s meeting.

They sat like that for a minute or two before Blaze finally broke the rather awkward silence.

“Ekhm, Derpy?”

“Y-Yes?”

“W-Would you mind, getting off me?” He said in a flat tone.

It took Derpy few seconds to realize what was he talking about, she started to blush extremely hard and quickly jumped off him.

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to..”

“Hey, calm down, nothing bad happened.” Blaze assured her while standing up.

Derpy looked at him, she knew him for such short time but she could tell for sure, maybe this wasn’t what you call love yet, but she definitely had a crush on him.

‘Come on Ditzy! You can do it, just ask him if he wants to go out someday.’

“Umm Blaze?”

“Yes what is it?”

“W-Would you, umm would you maybe?”

Blaze waited for her to finish her sentence, he had to admit that she looked very cute when she was being nervous.

“Would you perhaps want to go ou…”

“Hey BLAZE! What’s up I heard ya finally woke up!” Derpy was cut short by somepony screaming, they turned around and saw Vinyl Scratch trotting towards them with a huge smile on her muzzle, and her signature shades covering her eyes.

“Hey wassup Snow White, as you can see, I’m still alive.” He said with a bit of teasing in his voice.

“Good to hear, oh hey Derpy, we haven’t seen each other in a while right?”

“Y-Yeah.”

Vinyl then looked at Derpy and Blaze.

“You two know each other?”

“Yep, Derpy’s is my best friend.” Ditzy couldn’t help it but feel both happy and disappointed after he called her his best friend.

“Cool, so Blaze I wanted to ask you something.”

“What is it?”

“Wanna go out together sometime?”

“Sure, I was supposed to study friendship here anyways.” He said with a grin.

Vinyl cocked and eyebrow at him and after few moments she chuckled.

“What’s so funny?” Blaze asked confused.

“Oh silly colt, I didn’t mean it like that.”

“Well what did you mean then?”

Vinyl Stopped laughing and looked at him with what you can only call a “Seductive smile”.

“I’m asking you on a date Blazey.”

Chapter 11

Few hours earlier.

Octavia sat down on the sofa gently drinking her cup of coffee, on the other hoof Vinyl was nervously trotting around the room.

“So Vinyl, it is really rare that you need my advice on anything, what can I help you with?”

Unicorn stopped dead in her tracks and slowly turned towards her roommate, her eyes free from purple shades were showing signs of nervousness and maybe even something that Octavia never thought she will see in her friend.

“Is it about Blaze?” Grey earth pony asked.

Vinyl blushed and nodded weakly, Octavia was rather surprised, her friend dated many stallions but till now she never saw her getting embarrassed by something as simple as mentioning colt’s name.

“What is it Vinyl? I am sure you have much more experience in this area then I do.”

“W-Well normally yes but…*sigh* I dated many guys but there’s something oh I don’t know, different about this one.”

“What exactly makes him different?”

“I-I don’t know how to approach him, there were some colts who asked me out themselves, and those who I asked out, I didn’t really have any problem with simply trotting up to them and asking them about date.”

“Then why don’t you do it this time as well?”

“I can’t Octi! He’s different, I-I fear that..”

“That he will reject you?” Vinyl’s eyes went wide and she nodded while hanging her head low, Octavia sighed and walked up to her friend, placing her cup of coffee on a table beforehoof.

Grey mare embraced her friend in a hug which Vinyl quickly accepted.

“I can’t say I understand how you feel Vinyl, because from what it seems this isn’t a simple crush like those guys before. If I am right it’s something more.”

Vinyl backed slightly away to look her friend in the eyes and asked. “What do you mean Octi?”

“This is just my theory, but Vinyl, I think you are in love with him.”

Vinyl stared at her with open eyes for a moment before her cheeks became crimson, color of her coat did nothing to hide it.

“W-W-W-What the hay Octi!” She shouted jumping away from her friend.

“Well how else can you explain the way you are acting?”

Vinyl opened her mouth but no sound came out of it, she stared in the floor for a few seconds before responding.

“B-But I knew him for like, one day! How can I be in love with him?”

“Don’t ask me, I am no expert in this, but you know what they say, love is completely unpredictable.”

Octavia took her cup and started to leave the room before turning once again towards her friend. “But there’s one thing I know for sure, if this really is love you are feeling, then if you won’t do anything about it, it will only get stronger and eventually you will get hurt if he gets into other mare’s hoofs, just sayin.”

And with that Octavia smiled warmly and left the room leaving her friend in a state of utter confusion.

From this point it took Vinyl several hours to figure out her feelings, even after all this time she still didn’t know what she exactly felt, but she decided that there’s just one way to test it out.

Present

“Oh, emm that is really, surprising offer Vinyl.” Blaze said blushing slightly, Derpy who was standing on his side was watching the scene unfolding before her with wide eyes.

“Well I guess it is, so how will it be?” She asked with high hopes in her voices, luckily for her he couldn’t see her eyes through her signature purples shades, everyone would easily tell from them how nervous she was despite how confident she looked on the outside.

Blaze froze for a moment thinking about it, he couldn’t deny that Vinyl was very attractive, he also enjoyed her company very much.

Unicorn colt smiled and nodded his head before adding. “I would sure love to.”

Vinyl smiled and sighed with relief on the inside, on the other hoof Derpy felt her heart hurt a little bit.

“Great so how about you pick me up tomorrow at 7 p.m.? You know where I live right?”

Blaze blushed remembering the rather embarrassing way he found out where the white mare lived and nodded.

“Great sooo, see you then.”

Vinyl leaned in and planted a small kiss on his cheek making both of them blush, she then quickly trotted away from the pair.

Derpy watched the white unicorn trot away, until she disappeared from her sight. “Well that was, surprising, right Blaze?” She asked trying her best to sound as happy as possible.

“Blaze?” She turned towards the dark blue colt and saw him completely frozen from that small kiss.

Derpy’s expression fall, she quickly shook her muzzle ‘No derpy! Bad pony, it’s only your fault that you didn’t ask him out sooner.’

She nudged him with a hoof.

“Huh? Oh hey, where am I.” Blaze said to nopony before processing everything that just happened.

“Oh right, I got a date tomorrow, who would have thought.” Blaze said before finally noticing Derpy again.

“Oh hey Ditzy.”

Derpy sighed and Blaze expression fall when he remembered about Derpy’s dream from that night.

“Hey Derpy can we, talk about something?”

“About what?”

Blaze sighed, he didn’t think about what to say beforehoof since he didn’t really have time for it.

“You know that Luna can enter ponies dreams mostly in order to get rid of ones nightmares and fears.”

“Yeah I know that.”

“She actually isn’t the only pony who does that.”

Derpy looked at him with cocked eyebrow. “Then who else is… ohhh.”

“Yeah, I can do that too and since I got here in Ponyville, I went into few nightmares and one of them belonged to well, you.”

Derpy’s eyes went wide when she finally understood where was he going with this.

“I-I don’t want to talk about it.” She said while keeping her stare on the ground.

“But Ditzy, if you won’t face those fears that come from memories, these nightmares will just grow stronger and stronger.”

Derpy’s eyes started to water slightly remembering her foalhood, all the bullying and all the sadness she got from other fillies and colts, before Blaze could say anything else she spread her wings and took off.

“Derpy wait!” Blaze shouted but to no avail, before he could do anything she was high in the air flying away.

‘That was really smooth Blaze, congratulations.’ Blaze sighed angry at himself and decided to go back to farm, as he didn’t really have anything better do to he might as well check if there were any letters from his Princess waiting for him in his rented room.

Canterlot Castle, Luna’s chambers

Princess of the night sat on her haunches and read another book hoping to find anything that might help her with finding out what blocked her way into her students dreams while he was unconscious, she sighed in defeat and closed the book, reading for so long tired her out and she needed to sleep.

After getting into her bed and making herself comfortable she closed her eyes still thinking about her student and the possible danger he was in.

There was only one answer she had in mind, and she was hoping from all her heart that she was wrong.

I have like alot of free time so if I manage to get rid of all this laziness chapter will be updated much, much much more frequently.

Chapter 12

Blaze walked down the path towards Sweet Apple Acres, he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going and thanks to that he soon found his destination.

Although his mind was racing between his future date and what he should do about Derpy’s nightmares he still couldn’t help it but be amazed at the size of the orchard.

Blaze trotted between trees towards the house until he heard a noise it sounded like somepony was hitting a tree.

After following few more hits he found source of that noise, it was an orange coated mare with a brown stetson on her head.

‘Three apples as cutie mark? That must Ms. Smith older grandchild, how was she called again? Apple-something…’

Blaze tried his best to remember her name while Applejack steadied herself to buck another tree.

‘...Applesauce, no, Applepie, no no Appledash! No that neither, her name was similar to this alcohol, emmm Applebrandy, no gahh! I can’t remember…”

*BUCK*

Midnight quickly turned towards where Applejack was standing and to his surprise saw apples falling down from the tree.

“H-How did that.”

“Ya never seen Applebuckin before partner?”

Blaze blinked few times before realizing that those words were aimed at him, he blushed and smiled sheepishly.

“W-Well no I haven’t.”

Applejack trotted slowly towards him with a slightly angry expression.

“Ya are the fella that’s stayin at our place?” She asked while looking him up and down.

“Em yeah that’s me, Midnight Blaze student of Princess Luna herself, nice to meet you.” Blaze lifted his hoof while wearing a dumb smile on his muzzle.

Applejack stared at him for few seconds before finally smiling and giving Blaze a hoofshake which made his whole body vibrate.

“Well nice to meet ya fella! Mah name is Applejack, welcome to Sweet Apple Acres!”

Blaze smiled while trying to make his hoof stop, after succeeding he looked at Applejack who was preparing for another buck, placing baskets under trees.

“So how does that whole “Applebuckin” work?”

Applejack smiled and replied “Just watch.”

Blaze nodded and did as he was told.

Applejack steadied herself after placing all baskets under tree, then she stood on her front legs and delivered a powerful kick with her hind legs, Blaze was watching the whole scene in utter confusion.

‘I don’t get it, how a simple kick is supposed to…’

Blaze couldn’t help but stare in awe when apples started to perfectly fall into the baskets Applejack prepared earlier.

“W-Wow.”

“That my friend is Applebuckin.”

“That was great! I never thought apples can be harvested this way.” Applejack smiled and nodded while proceeding to another tree.

“Hey Ms. Applejack can I somehow help you?”

“Just call me Applejack and ya don’t have to work, ya are our guest right?”

“Well right but I want to help.”

Applejack smiled and nodded. “Well in that case Ah can’t say no can Ah?”

Blaze smiled with excitement “Great! What do I do?”

“Well learning how to Applebuck might a bit hard for ya, but ya can help me by placin those baskets over next tree while Ah take care of another. Then ya can take those baskets to that carriage over there.” She said and pointed with her hoof towards old looking wooden carriage.

Blaze saluted and started his work.

Applejack and Blaze worked together for couple hours before the break time came, after some running with baskets full of apples unicorn colt got pretty tired while Applejack was only sweating a bit.

“T-This is amazing.” Blaze stated

“What is?”

“Well you, I only carried those baskets while you also bucked those trees, and while I am completely worn out you look like you just started working.”

Applejack blushed a bit at the compliment and smiled.

“Thanks a lot, Ah think Ah just got used to hard work.”

They walked together back to the farm house talking about life on the farm, mostly it was Blaze asking with curiosity and Applejack answering, she didn’t really mind, it actually made her happy that somepony was interested in her work.

They soon reached the house and at the same moment Blaze smelled an aroma like never before.

“W-What is that godly smell?!” Blaze asked while drooling.

“That is mah Granny’s apple pie, it’s the best apple pie you will ever eat.”

Blaze smiled wildly, one of the hard work pros was the fact that every food tasted better after, and if this apple pie was already “best” like Applejack said now it will taste simply divine.

Blaze started to dash towards the house despite his fatigue.

“Hey wait for me!” Applejack shouted and started running after him.

“I’m sorry Applejack, I can’t stop myself!” Blaze shouted and rushed towards the house at the speed Applejack never thought he could muster.

But at such speed it is also very hard to brake.

“Blaze stop! You will hit the…” Before Applejack could finish her sentence Blaze’s muzzle had a close meeting with Apple family house wall.

“Ya okay partner?” Applejack said with concern in her voice and worry written all over her muzzle when she trotted up to the Blaze who was laying on the cold ground.

Blaze turned to lay on his back and looked at Applejack.

“Is this heaven? Did I die?”

“Oh nothing of the sort partner.”

“Well then why do I smell godly food and there’s an angel in front of me?” Applejack blushed hardly at his words but she quickly shook her muzzle and helped him get up.

“Come on partner ya hit that wall a bit too hard.”

“I did?”

“Yeah let’s get you inside.”

Applejack and Blaze walked in quickly earning a worried look from Big Mac who was preparing the table for dinner.

“He ran a bit too fast and hit the wall with his muzzle.” Applejack explained before her brother asked anything, Big Mac nodded and went to look for some first aid.

“How are ya feelin?” She said while making him sit on the couch.

“About what?” Blaze asked still not being able to think straight.

“Ah meant to ask if your head hurts?”

“Ohh, yeah it does, like a lot.” Blaze turned around trying to process what is happening. “Why does it hurt?”

“Ya hit yourself pretty bad partner, Ah am surprised you didn’t blackout back there.”

Big Mac walked in holding a first aid kit in his hoof, at the same time Blaze stared at Applejack and smiled wildly.

“What is it?” Orange mare asked.

“Nothing, just those black dots are looking funny……” Was all he said before losing consciousness

Rewrite

Like the titles says, this story will be getting rewrite.

Plot will be more or less the same but not that I've improved my grammar and storytelling skills I want to try and write this story once again.
