Ch. 2 The Hive (Revised)

Alright, let's do a small recap, first, me and my now dead friend, Seth, were taking a flight to attend a friend's wedding, an explosive goes off during the flight; the entire left wing of the plane was blown off. Then, we somehow managed to end up in a forest which is in another dimension.

At that point, me and Seth ventured around the Everfree, and then we somehow stumbled upon a cockatrice that attempted to turn us into stone.

Moments after that, we spotted the pony establishment that is known as "Ponyville", it actually didn't take that long for us to decide to approach the settlement.

However, unexpectedly, the ponies just bombarded us with an array of weapons. And Seth... he was a goner in that onslaught, I managed to take down as many as I could.

However, they rallied a sizable force of spear wielding pegasi to charge at me. Things were looking grim for me, however, the changelings intervened, they rescued me from a rather morbid death, but for what reason?

Me and the group of changelings are currently evading the pursuing pony forces. I assume we've managed to elude them, considering the amount of distance we've already traversed, and that we're no longer running, but simply walking.

"I take it you're going to take me to your queen, Andrei? That is your name, correct?" I inquired to the changeling that persuaded me to follow them. A purple mane and green eyes was featured in this particular changeling, and it appears that there are other distinct features in the other changelings.

How intriguing, these changelings are more similar to that of a pony's appearance, however, they still retain their fangs, unsettling cheese-like legs, and their insectoid wings.

"Yeah, that is my name, and yeah, we are taking you to the Hive. Strange, how do you know about changelings? I assumed they didn't exist in your world"

  "They don't." I replied.

"Uh, well, so how do you know about us?" Andrei asked in confusion.

"It's way too complicated for me to actually explain."

"Hm, I see, I guess I shouldn't question it further then. But tell me human, what was that weapon you were wielding back there?" Andrei inquired while using his holed hooves to point at the holstered revolver.

"Oh this? It came with this bag that mysteriously appeared out of nowhere, my name is Wilson, by the way, so you could stop calling me "human" now."

"Ah, that bag and its contents must've been the result of our summoning spell." A voice, most likely female, stated from behind me.

I turned around to face the source of the voice, and it turns out to be a changeling, a female one to be exact. She had a ragged hood on, a crimson mane and teal eyes.

"Summoning spell? You mean, you've summoned me and my friend here?" I questioned.

"Your friend? The spell was only to summon you, well any random human in particular. Your friend must've been too close to you, and was therefore summoned as well." The changeling answered.

    "Ah, I see, miss...?"

"Marisa, I'm the head mage of the Hive, and one of the most legendary, if I do say so myself," The changeling mage boasted, "Say, where is your friend? We only found you back there." Marisa inquired.

And here comes the traumatizing memory of my friend being turned into a lifeless corpse right before my eyes, "He died during that skirmish." I sighed, attempting my best to seem stoic, I must not show a hint of weakness to my new found allies.

There was a tense silence for a brief moment. Their faces portraying curiosity shifted to that of a grimace upon realization.

"Oh, um, my apologies, the spell was supposed to summon one human instead of two, it seems that your friend was in close proximity to you when the spell was done." Andrei stated, his tone of voice felt sympathetic.

"It is our fault that your friend was killed, forgive us." Marisa added.

"Regardless of whether you summoned me and my friend, Seth would've most likely die anyways, due to some tragic accident that was about to occur. " I stated, still retaining my stoic tone, "Hell, you actually saved me from dying." I stated with a weak smirk.

"Accident? What type of accident?" Marisa queried.

"Perhaps we should save the questions after we arrive to wherever you guys hideout. I feel like I'd be more inclined to answer whatever inquiries you have for me there."

They simply nodded in response to suggestion.

The route we took to the Changeling HQ was a long and boring, there was the occasional manticore or timber wolf pack that would attempt to maul us, but, they were swiftly taken care off by my revolver.

Needless to say, they're quite amazed by my revolver, I don't blame them, this thing is basically alien technology to them.

And we finally arrived to the changeling base, or so I thought, the abandoned castle in the middle of the Everfree Andrei and Marisa ordered me to follow them, so I did. The actual changeling base was actually underneath the ancient castle.

They appear to be utilizing some sort of cave network, or so my changeling companions claim. And as one would assume, yes, it's quite dark in there. Fortunately, they have torches to light up most of the interior of the cave network, albeit, one would still have difficulty seeing due to the darkness.

And of course, every changeling that encountered me shot looks of either disgust, or curiosity, or occasionally a combination of both.

Traversing the eerie tunnels further, me and my two changeling companions finally ended up in front of a large, intimidating door guarded by two armored changelings.

Andrei turned and looked at me, "Here we are, behind this door lies the throne room of our Queen-"

"Chrysalis, yeah, I know about her. She was repelled by the ponies after her scheme to capture Canterlot was ousted by a lavender pony, correct?" I interrupted.

Both of them appeared startled by my question, but they eventually just shrugged it off and glared faces of annoyance at me,"I'll take that as a 'yes.' Well, I have to do is act nice and all will be good, right."

"I suppose so, well then, shall we proceed?" Marisa suggested.

I nodded and we approached the guards, "About time you finally captured that... thing, Andrei." One of the guards mocked with a sly smirk. As a human being, I take offense to being referred to as a "creature."

Andrei sighed, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever, can you just let us in?"

The guard chuckled, "Eh, sure, wouldn't want the Queen to wait to meet her 'tactician' any longer, heh, looks more like a mutant ape rather than a tactician, if you ask me." That makes my ire boil even more, I was visually frowning by now.

The guard began the process of opening the metallic door via magic, seeing that he was occupied in opening the door, I slowly made my hand progress to my revolver.

"Easy now, Wilson, I know he's annoying, but killing him won't really let you gain anything." Andrei whispered.

I sighed, the changeling holds a valid point. I relinquished my desire to murder him, my hand retreated from the revolver's holster.

Soon after the door was opened, we entered the throne room, and not really a big surprise, I was greeted by a grinning Chrysalis sitting upon her throne.

Hm, the throne room possessed a certain allure about it, I can't really describe it, but it's really ambient. It was poorly lit, only a chandelier on the ceiling was providing light to this room, and some torches, more strangely, the chandelier and torches were emitting a green flame.

We approached the changeling queen, "Andrei, so all I have to do is act nice, correct?" I asked, "I suppose." Andrei simply replied. Well that's problematic, considering I'm not a friendly person and all, oh, and don't forget that my friend was just murdered a few hours ago.

"Andrei, Marisa, excellent work finding the human, I so believe you have duties elsewhere, go on. I have to discuss some things with the human." Chrysalis said. My two changeling friends complied and left the room.

"Ah, finally. Human, I am-" Before she could do her introductions I interrupted her, "Queen Chrysalis, yes, I know some things about you."

"Hm, my fame exceeds me, so I do believe you are aware why you are here?" Chrysalis inquired.

"Let me conjure a quick theory, is it because you are in need of assistance in enslaving the entire pony race?" I replied, which caused a surprised reaction from the changeling queen.

"Hm, you humans scare me, but, yes. I do require help against my adversaries," The queen admitted, "But, I take it you're not going to aid us now. However, we have things that might interest you." Chrysalis claimed.

Well, that actually caught my interest, what type of thing? Or as Rick pronounces it, thangs.

"Things? Mind being more specific?" I responded, it seems that I made her smirk.

"Well, human, does this amulet appears familiar to you?" She asked while levitating the infamous Alicorn amulet. Huh, the amulet, eh? My help in exchange for that magical relic?

Well, my original scheme of vengeance was to do a direct assault on those four-legged bastards, huh, that actually sounds much more stupid now, it will sound less stupid when I have the ability to cast magic.

"Hm, now you caught my interest, but the side-effects of the amulet is somewhat making me reluctant on accepting the deal." I stated. She appeared slightly frustrated now.

"Hm, so you're aware of the effects of this amulet? Well, we're actually researching on it, in hopes to either neutralize, or deter the unfavorable side-effects of the amulet. And only prolonged usage of the amulet will cause the effects to occur." Queen cheese-legs replied.

I slowly nodded my head in consideration, "Well, normally, I would decline your offer," I said, causing the queen to look in a combination of disappointment and sadness, "But, the ponies managed to piss me off, so, I'll aid you in your battles." I added, causing the Queen to smirk once more.

"Good choice, human, but before we I start showing you around, why don't you tell me about yourself and your kind?"

However, before I could reply, a very frantic changeling teleported into the room, "My queen! A squad of Royal guards is nearing towards the base! It won't be long until we're discovered!"

Chrysalis looked genuinely concerned, "It appears that we have to postpone our little conversation for another time, perhaps you could assist our troops, quickly, head to the surface and let one of my changelings brief you in this upcoming skirmish, normally, we usually repel them, but always with casualties, perhaps you can change that? The Royal guard has been hounding us for quite some time already, I fear they will discover us soon."

"Hm, I have to fight some ponies with changelings by my side already? Hmph, I didn't even get a welcoming party, oh well, as long as I get to see those bastards die, I'm happy." I said before dashing off.

This is the part where things get interesting.
