The Mastermind
Chapter 3: Act 1: Chapter 3
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI said my goodbyes and thanked Twilight from releasing me from that prison. Rainbow still had a grudge against me. I need return to Ponyville one day and make proper friends with them. I waved goodbye and left the library with the 2 princess. I noticed that the carriage only had space for 2.
"We still have my carriage sister. Lucas may ride along with me," Luna offered.
"Are you sure sister? He can ride along with me," Celestia replied. Clearly stating that I would harm Luna in some way. Can't blame them. Not everyday you get an alien hitch-hiking with 2 royals.
Luna's ride arrived. With 2 pegasi guards that reminded me of Fluttershy when she was a bat. If they go near my neck I will drive a stake through their heart. Old style. Still hesitant, I climbed onto the dark blue metal carriage. We was in the air soon enough and was inbound for Canterlot.
"So, Lucas. What is it like in your home?" Luna asked, breaking the minute long silence. I sighed. Of all the things to talk about. Home was the one subject she had to ask.
"Not like this I can tell you," I mumbled, "My world is a cruel place, full of hatred, greed and corruption. The qualities of humanity which I despise". I felt a bit of anger rising but I managed to suppress it. Last thing I needed was to anger or scare Luna five thousand feet in the air.
"We see that thou has had a hard life in your home. Is it worth leaving it though?" She asked, turning to me,"That is the question you should ask yourself".
"More than worth it my dear princess," I replied, turning my body towards her. Fully engaged in a conversation. "Enough about me though, I want to know about you," I saw a look of surprise on her face.
"Me? Thou wishes to know about...me?" She muttered. I think I just caused the Princess of the Night to have an emotional breakdown.
"Yes, I want to know about you," I said softly, "Why are you crying? Surely many ponies want to know about you". Suddenly she broke into tears. I could just about understand what she was saying. I put my arms around her to try and comfort her, and before I could say I'm sorry, we were in a full on hug.
"No, no-pony wishes to know about me," She sobbed, "They call me the outcast princess, the outsider. I overheard some stallions say that I will never have no pony to..." I couldn't understand the last part of her sentence, they were shrouded in a storm of tears and sobs.
I managed to calm down Luna to a degree that she wasn't constantly sobbing. We broke from the minutes long hug. She had a look of embarrassment.
"I'm sorry," She squeaked, "I don't want to burden you with my problems". I put my hand on her shoulder, she looked at me and smiled.
"The problems you have are not a burden to me though," I comforted," However you didn't answer my question". After that tear-storm she finally spilled the beans.
"Well, as you know I am the Princess of the Night", she stated, "I like to help those who are facing distress by communicating to them by their dreams". All of this I knew. However I didn't want to make it look I was disinterested.
"What type of distress do ponies commonly have?" I asked, I could see her looking into my eyes. Staring into my soul. I squirmed a bit and she finally came back to Equus and registered my question.
"They...usually have a problem with relationships," she muttered, "Usually trying to impress somepony". I don't know whether this is a hint or not. Then I saw her again. She looked like she was admiring me. When I looked at her directly she turned away quickly, I don't think she knows about peripheral vision. We were silent for a few minutes. Either the guards were going in circles or Canterlot was really far, either way this was taking the piss.
Luna's POV
I thought nothing of it at first. I thought it was just a standard youth crush. Liking someone because they look nice. He seems to care about me though, he even asked about me. No pony ever did that in my lifetime, and I had a long life. Is he the one?
"Lucas?" I got his attention, he looked at me. Those light blue, angelic eyes were set upon me. His luxurious brown mane waved with the wind.
"Have you ever had a marefriend?" I asked him. Please not let this be to awkward.
"I did, one time," He replied, however his voice went deeper. Now I wish I didn't ask.
"She was everything I could of ever asked for," He followed on, "Kind, sweet and beautiful. She was perfect".
"What happened?"
"She left me without any reason. Just broke my heart with no valid reason," He muttered. I saw a tear form. I went for a hug and he soon returned it. Yet again we were in an embrace in the moonlight night.
"Thank you," He whispered into my ear. We broke the hug and he smiled at me.
We arrived at Canterlot finally. The guards set us down near the castle gate as planned. In the night, Canterlot was peaceful. We entered the castle and several guards stared at Lucas. Some even attempted to apprehend him but luckily Celestia called them off.
"Ah, how was your journey?" She sniggered. I guess she is the reason why the journey took unusually long.
"Fine sister. No disturbances I assure you". I could see that she wants me and Lucas to get friendly, well I don't think she is helping putting us in these awkward situations. Lucas yawned.
"Oh right. Your bed".
"Yeah. You said I was sleeping in your room?" He asked. I couldn't help but feel nervous.
"I did, shall we go?" I walked off and Lucas followed.
"Good night sister". I shouted behind me.
The room was expansive, big enough for me and Lucas to sleep in. Separate beds of course, so far.
"Wow, this is wonderful," Lucas complimented, "Surprised you don't get lost in here". He walked up to a much larger bed which I ordered via Spike sending a letter to the carpenters.
"I guess this is mine?" He asked.
"Indeed it is". He looked at me and cleared his throat intentionally. In the way to state something.
"What?" I asked with concern. I wanted him to be comfortable.
"I...need to dress into something more suitable for bed".
"Clothes? For bed?" Human culture sure is peculiar.
"Yes. I don't like exposing myself to others," He shifted his eyes to say get out.
"As you wish," I walked out of the room and closed the door.
My eyes shifted to a keyhole. No! I will not stoop that low! However I found myself gravitating towards it. I tried to resist but I found myself looking through it. What I saw was...magnificent. Sadly it didn't last long as saw me through the keyhole.
"Like what you see?" He shouted through the door. I shifted back as I heard his hoof, or whatever they call what he stands on, steps. He opened the door and looked at me.
"It's OK now," He smirked. He wore a black vest with some sort of clothing that ended at the middle of his long legs.
"Goodnight Luna," He climbed into his bed. I exited the room and left to do my duties for the night. I hope he doesn't tell Celestia, I would never hear the end of it.
