Dreaming of You
Chapter 1: Dreaming of You
He picks me out of a crowd,
I blush, smiling shyly,
My heart flutters.
His hand meets mine halfway,
He pulls me in close, and the music begins,
This is really happening.
A slow waltz.
He leads, I follow.
Vibrato fills the room.
My back legs shake,
One slips, he’s there to catch me,
My breath escapes me.
I blush from my misstep,
He counters, smiling warmly,
Confident yet comforting.
My worries break away,
My fears, my boundaries,
Our hearts beat together.
The song hastens,
Cut time, a tango,
But I’m no longer afraid.
Our bodies moves as one,
Hearts pounding, lungs gasping,
Follow the pulse of love.
The climax arrives,
I twirl, he dips me,
All else fades away.
Our eyes are locked,
Unbreakable, indescribable,
This is it.
He lifts me close,
My scarlet face, his tender smile,
All eyes dawned on us.
I take my final breath
With furrowed lips, we lean in,
And comes the final…what?
His hands leave me,
My spirit drops, the floor its buffer,
Pain replaces warmth.
My eyes force open,
But all is black, his aura gone,
And something grips my hoof.
Its…my hair?
No time to think, constraining my legs,
This can’t be happening.
Panic takes over,
I try to escape, twisting and straining,
This is it.
It reaches my neck,
My heart pulsating, I take my last breath,
Goodbye beloved-
“RARITY!”
“NOOO!” shouted Rarity as she bolted forward from her covers. She was sitting in her room, with her hoof held by Spike’s hand while her other one gripped the sheets.
“It was a dream,” she thought to herself. “Just an awful dream.”
“Are you okay Rarity?” Spike asked. “I heard you screaming from outside.”
Rarity eased his nerves with a smile.
“Yes, I’m fine Spike. Just a good dream gone sour I suppose.”
Spike pulled her in for a hug. “You going to be alright?”
She simply nodded.
“Now that you’ve returned, everything’s fine.”
