Chapter 1: Dust to Dust
Scootaloo raced through the burning wreckage of what had been Sugarcube Corner, all instinct and speed.
Run
Run
Run
That was all she could think about, running, she had to run. If she stopped for even a second they would catch up to her, and if they caught up to her...
“Shoot it down! Shoot it down!” The ratatat tat of their weapons, the scream of a pegasus as it fell to the ground with a crunch as it landed in a pile of rubble, its’ wings dotted with smoky holes. More shooting, the sounds of the screaming Pegasus and the roar of their guns echoing off of the alley walls.”
Scootaloo closed her eyes, she couldn’t think about that, she wouldn’t think about tha-Scootaloo yelped as she fell face into the assorted bits of wood and plaster. Had she been shot? No, Scootaloo concluded, she definitely would’ve felt that. She had tripped over something, a piece of rubble or-out of the corner of her eye Scootaloo saw it as she began to stand up. Lying there in the dust, with a cupcake in front of her hoof, was Pinkie Pie.
She had tripped over Pinkie Pie.
Sitting up, Scootaloo looked around. She realized that they weren’t chasing her anymore, looking around she realized that she had run all the way to Sugarcube Corner. Standing at Pinkie Pie’s body, Scootaloo looked out over the rest of Ponyville. Fires blazed in the distance, pegasi swarmed through the sky. A cluster of buildings suddenly exploded, sending bits of thatched roof and wood up into the air. Scootaloo swore she saw ponies, or at least bits of ponies, fly up as well. A shadow hung over most of the town. Floating miles over Ponyville was a gray cylindrical, thing. Scootaloo couldn’t think of any other way to describe it. It didn’t look like any balloon she had ever seen. It was metal, for one. And for two, it had four gigantic black and grey metal things strapped to it at various points. Fire spewed from them at various points.
