Chapter 1: Alpha to Omega

Alpha to Omega

Princess Celestia sighed to herself when her last subject finally trotted out of the throne room, satisfied with the answers he got on his complaints. One would think that princess Celestia would have someone different who listened to all of her subjects, rambling about nonsense she couldn't care less about, but she assured herself this was the best way to keep her little ponies happy.

With a satisfied smile, she teleported herself a big piece of strawberry shortcake. Looking at her stoic guards who each stood at one side of her throne, she began levitating small bits of the cake to each of them, teasing them by putting it right before their closed mouths.

''Hmmm this cake is heavenly'' princess Celestia spoke with a mouth full, cake splattering everywhere.

''You sure don't want a piece?'' While she made exaggerated moans, she levitated the pieces of cake against the guards' mouths, knowing fully well that they couldn't move an inch. The guards' eyes began twitching slightly, trying to remain as silent and stoic as possible. Every day, princess Celestia tried to get them to move, without success so far. they knew it would be a losing battle however. But just when the guards had had enough, something or rather someone stormed into the throne room.

''Princess Celestia!'' The lavender alicorn also known as Twilight Sparkle exclaimed, startling the princess greatly who threw the rest of the cake in a random direction.

''Princess...What were you doing?'' Twilight asked Celestia who looked at her former protégé with a guilty look on her face.

Quickly swallowing the rest of her cake she put on her best poker face she could muster before answering the librarian.

''Twilight, it's so nice seeing you again, how have you been?''

Twilight raised a brow at the sun princess' antics, who did her best to dodge Twilight's previous question as to not to embarrass herself further in front of the element of magic.

''Anyway...'' Twilight dismissed not even questioning the guards whipped creamed faces ''I have a question that's been bugging me lately princess and I don't know why I didn't notice it before, but it's starting to get more obvious and it's rather annoying me.'' The lavender alicorn confessed.

''Oh? Do tell princess Twilight Sparkle.'' The princess of the sun said, now actually a little interested in what was bugging Twilight.

''Well... Do you think I'm a good princess?'' Twilight looked a little forlorn when she asked this while Celestia gave her a look of confusion.

''Of course you are Twilight, you are a great princess. Why would you ask that?'' Princess Celestia now gave her a look of concern. Whatever was bugging Twilight was really bugging her.

Twilight bit her bottom lip before answering princess Celestia.

''I guess it's always been this way but when I came back from Manehattan I couldn't help but notice...Why didn't anyone recognise me?'' The element of magic looked up at princess Celestia expectantly, hoping that she would know the answer.

That some ponies didn't know her when she was princess Celestia's protégé, she could understand but after saving Equestria countless of times and becoming an alicorn princess, surely some ponies in Manehattan should've recognised her.

'Did Celestia just hide the faintest of smiles?' Twilight thought to herself. She shrugged this off however, she was probably imagining things.

''I do not know, Twilight.'' The sun goddess finally answered ''maybe they were just afraid and hold their distance?''

''I suppose, but when I tried to get a cab I got ignored too! This doesn't make any sense. What if they think I'm a bad princess after all?'' Twilight panicked, going through all the worst-case scenarios in her head. Princess Celestia put a wing around Twilight and gave her a motherly smile.

'' Twilight calm down. There's nothing to be worried about.'' Princess Celestia reassured her.

''How are you so sure princess?'' The lavender librarian asked the princess quizzically. Honestly, how could the princess always be so calm about everything? Nevertheless, she listened to what the princess had to say.

''Let me tell you a little story Twilight. When my sister and I defeated Discord and locked him away in stone, it was the first time in over fifty or so years there was peace again. Most ponies didn't even know how to handle the situation.''

''Needless to say, they needed the warm up at the prospect of having two peaceful rulers instead of one chaotic tyrant. What I'm trying to say is, give it some rest they'll come through in time.''

The sun goddess gave her the warmest smile she could muster. This eased Twilight a lot. The princess was right, there's no need for panic. Manehattan and eventually all of Equestria should be able to recognise her in due time.

That's when she realised that there are maybe some pro's to it as well. Not getting recognised everywhere works wonders when you just want to relax for some time.

The lavender princess gave her a smile in return. ''Thanks princess, I really needed that.''

Twilight gave her former mentor a quick nuzzle before saying her goodbye. ''It was fun chatting with you once more princess, but Spike is probably getting really worried about me. I should head back to ponyville.''

She stated the obvious while Princess Celestia nodded at her giving her a silent goodbye before Twilight was off. After she was sure Twilight was out of hearing range she let out a chuckle what blew out in maniac laughter.

'How does it feel to be ignored Twilight?' she silently thought to herself finally stopping her laughter and taking in a big whiff of air. She finally took in her surroundings as well, the guards looking at her nervously like she had gone mad.

Pieces of cake lay all over her throne remembering what she was doing before Twilight rushed in. With a contented sigh and an audible pop she teleported herself another piece of cake before sitting down on her rump again.

'That's for ignoring me and not sending me friendship letters anymore.' She thought smiling evilly before popping a piece of cake in her mouth. 'What happened to that other piece of cake though?' she silently mused to herself.

While thinking about this, she began automatically levitating bits of the cake to her guards again. Looking around she couldn't find it anywhere. Her thoughts where interrupted however when one of her guards finally snapped.

''I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!'' He screamed finally ending the irritations and teasing that went on for so long.

''I knew that you could move.'' The sun goddess exclaimed, laughing victoriously like she had done the impossible.

What Celestia failed the see was that the guards gave each other a silent nod before they slowly began advancing on the sun princess. When the princess was done celebrating she finally saw her guards approaching her, wearing devious smiles on their faces.

''Wh-what are you going to do?'' The princess asked, actually a tad unnerved by their smiles.

''GET THE CAKE!'' One yelled at the top of his lungs before they both tackled her to the ground, trying to unhand the cake from the princess' magic grasp.

Out on the balcony at one of the higher towers of the castle stood the night princess, silently looking through her telescope while musing to herself how to make the night as beautiful as possible for her subjects.

'Maybe I should make a harvest moon today, to show how magical the night truly can be' she silently debated. That's when she heard a sizzling sound through the air that became louder and louder.

Listening to it closely it sounded like something was coming her way fast. ''What in the...'' She couldn't finish her sentence however when she tried to find out what the sizzling sound made, she got the source of it right into her face.

Whipped cream and strawberry cake dripped from her mane as her face changed from confusion into a raging inferno.

''CELESTIA, I WILL DESTROY THEE!''
