Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Past Elements

Chapter 1: The Past Elements

Starlight moved her horn up and down, desperately trying to make the heavy package seem lighter.

Rarity quickly dashed over and helped Starlight carry the package.

"Is this for my boutique, Starlight?" she asked curiously.

Starlight nodded. She wheezed and fell down, her dark pink ears twitching.

"Mr. Cloth said it wouldn't be too heavy. This is slightly strange, don't you think?" Rarity said, examining the heavy box.

Starlight smiled nervously and hoped Rarity knew that she couldn't answer. She breathed deeply, trying to catch her breath.

Rarity pulled the box off and opened it with her sharp, lavender-pigmented horn. Inside was a dusty, ancient book.

"Oh my!" said a tiny voice. It was Fluttershy's. She had flew over here to see why Starlight was on the ground, wheezing.

"No wonder why it was so heavy for Starlight. Look at that thing. It's nearly one thousand pages!" she squealed.

Rarity nodded, flipped her mane and said, "Darling, my poor thing," to Starlight.

The pink pony lying on the ground uneasily got up and glanced at the book herself.

"It says, 'The Past Elements of Equestria.' Oh my gosh! We found an ancient book, about the past Elements, guys!"

Starlight said. She wasn't wheezing anymore, because she was very much excited about this mysterious book.

Fluttershy inched away from the book. "I like Twilight and everything, but this is totally a re-run, you know," she said, trying to

be as kind as possible.

"Agreed," Rarity said. "It's an awful mysterious book of Elements. Maybe I can run on over to Canterlot and let Twilight

check it out herself. I would never read these much pages," she suggested.

Starlight and Fluttershy nodded, agreeing. "That's a good idea," Fluttershy acknowledged.

So Rarity went on ahead and gave the book to Twilight in Canterlot, and two days later, Twilight sent this message by

Spike:

Dear Friends,

This is Twilight here. I have read the Past Elements book, and it says that the generation of the Lights have two ponies with

these past elements. I am thinking one of them might be Skylight, because her grandmother used to talk all the time about

these special past powers.

I really think you should go ask Princess Celestia about it in person. Maybe if so, she can help Skylight find what her Element

is and if it displays with her cutie mark.

I also apologize for having to write instead of coming to meet you.

I have lots of classes to take tonight, and it just wouldn't be a good thing.

                                                                                 Sincerely, Twilight Sparkles

"This is amazing for you, Skylight," Fluttershy neighed to her, and then blushed. She felt she was being a little too loud.

"Maybe we should all go ask Princess Celestia, like Twilight suggested, wouldn't that be s'well?" Rarity said, putting on

her small yellow glasses and brushing her mane. She wanted to look pretty if they were going to see Princess Celestia.

Skylight grabbed the letter with her magical powers as a unicorn and looked over it twice.

"It seems right. My past generation with females all had -light at the end of their names. Like Moonlight, Dawnlight, and

Ponylight," she said silently. She was so excited that she had to say it calmly or else, she would definitely have a nervous

break-down.

Rarity spun her beautiful purple mane around and nodded happily. "Let's go! I love seeing Princess Celestia and all her

jewels, I envy her! But of course, there's no reason to be jealous about your friend."

"I agree with all of this, and Skylight, I know you are a Past Element for sure. My generation and your generation has

told me about you and your element many times, but it is your duty to find out what your element is. I trust in you, Fluttershy,

and Rarity to go on a side operation to defeat that scornful Discord. He's still trying to terrorize  half of Equestria!"

Princess Celestia informed. She rolled her beautiful pink eyes at the end, annoyed of just speaking of Discord. After this,

she explained, "Unless you do not want to do this side operation; Discord is located in his own forest called Dis-Forest. He

lives in a strange red cave! But this Dis-Forest is located a few miles out of Equestria's border, which is under four blue

clouds beyond Canterlot. I will personally write directions for you right now!"

Princess Celestia ordered her servant to get her a pen and paper. She scribbled down notes, stopped, thought, and

scribbled down again. She let go of the pen which over-filled with ink, spreading it all over the floor and part of the desk.

She smiled, showing her pearly whites. Then, she brushed off the blemishes and gave it to Skylight.

"Use these directions carefully. It is a very charming and delicate paper, now isn't it?" she said. She grinned, her eyes

sparkling as she spoke. She was a beautiful pony and nobody could disagree.

Now, Skylight felt like everything was rushed at her. Operations? Directions? Dis-Forest? But in order to find her Element,

she breathed in a deep breath, looked back at her friends who willingly smiled, and nodded.

"We will charge Discord with punishment. But first, are you going to teach me a powerful spell?" she asked hopefully.

Princess Celestia looked up, twitched her soft ears, and tilted her head. "You will use your powers of friendship.

When the friendship is united and the world realizes your Element, you will already have the power to defeat

Discord. Now hurry and get along to that operation, my dear servants are needing me."

She slowly got out of her throne and waved her hoof, grinning at them as they exited a short way out.

"Can we go with you, Skylight? You'll definitely need help!" Rarity said charmingly. She used her giant puppy-eyes to

attract Skylight.

Skylight chuckled and shoved Rarity playfully. "You're supposed to come with me!"

And so their adventure began.
