Frozen Wings
Chapter 10
Previous ChapterWind howled around the snow coated mountains. An icy nip lingering in the air. Far off in the distance, hidden behind the mountains, was a frozen city. Stuck within the cold grips of ice.
A small figure walked up a large mountain. Her wings fluttering, and her cloak flowing in the wind. Her cyan wings ached from the flying. Her rainbow fringe was loose and blowing across her face. Her head held low as she slowly made her way up. She wanted to get as far away from everyone. Her secret was out. Now everyone would hate her.
"The snow is glowing white on the mountain tonight." She croaked, glancing at the moon light glimmering on the snow. Hating at how no-one could appreciate the snow and it's beauty. But she hated herself because of it.
"I'm a queen. A queen of an isolated kingdom....why did this have to happen...?"
Rainbow Dash watched as the wind whipped around, the snow violently flying across the grey sky.
"Just like the storm inside of me...I tried. I'm sorry. I tried so hard to protect my friends. I changed myself just to keep others safe...and I couldn't keep it in...heaven knows I've tried."
She remembered her father. A strong stallion, who knew what to do. Who knew what was right. An image of him with a look of complete disappointment brimmed her mind.
"Don't let them in. Don't let them see. Be the good mare you always have to be. Conceal, don't feel. Don't let them know....." She lifted her head. Staring as the wind calmed down, and watched as the snow fell gracefully. Her confidence lit up once again. A confidence that she hadn't felt since she was a filly.
"Well, now they know!!" She stomped her hoof onto the ground with a grin. "I just have to....let it go..."
Rainbow lifted her hoof, noticing her coat was beginning to grow lighter. She grinned as snowflakes appeared from her hoof. Watching it float up in a blue swirl.
"Let it go. Just let it go. I cannot hold it back anymo~ore." The pegasus span around raising her front hooves into the air, one at a time, and letting small sprinkles of snow rise into the sky.
"Turn away and slam the door!" She raised her hooves, the flowing snowflakes falling straight to the ground.
The mare turned around and created a snowpony, the same one she made as a filly.
"I don't care. I don't care anymore, of what they're going to say!! Let this storm rage on!!" She shot pure snow from her hooves, making it twirl and spin around her.
She grinned as she unclasped the gem holding her cape.
"The cold never bothered me anyway!!"
She looked behind her, watching as she let go of the cloak, and let it flow into the wind. Float away from her.
"I can't believe it. I guess, Rarity was right. Some distance does make everything seem small. And my fears that used to control me, that used to boil inside, can't get to me at all!!" She yelled, her voice becoming softer, and smoother. She happily skipped up the mountain, her wings fluttering beside her.
"I'm sorry, father. But it's time to see what I can really do!! To test the limits!! There is no right, or wrong!! No rules!!"
Rainbow Dash stared with hope at her hooves before standing at the edge of a cliff. She smirked as whipped her hooves in an upwards direction. Making a set of frost covered stairs.
"Cause I'm free!!" She placed her hoof onto the first stair, grinning as the frost blasted away. Revealing an elegantly decorated snowflake stair.
"Let it go!!" She cried as she tried up the stairs. Her wings gliding above the banister. The frost flowed away as the pegasus trotted up.
"I am one with the wind and sky again! I just have to let it go!!" She reached to top of the ice staircase. Hovering into the air and performing a flip.
"Nopony will see me cry!! Never again!! I will stand my ground!! Cause here I stand, and here I'll stay!!" She stomped her hooves onto the clear snow ground. A sheet of ice coating it, in the form of a giant snowflake.
"I will let my storm rage on." She bit her lip as she raised her fore-legs again. In a flurry of creative release, she raised the snowflake on ice beams, created walls, archways, a glistening chandelier, and an intricate ceiling that left the sky visible. The pegasus twirled around, waving her fore-legs gracefully as she created a grand palace of ice. Taking care of creating the patterns and making the blue tint glow vibrantly.
"My power will flurry, father!! No matter what you said!! I believe in myself!!"
She now stood in the middle of a large ice room, with a balcony at the front. She stood still, her task of making the beautiful palace complete. Her task of letting her powers exploded into a magnificent display was done.
The pegasus glanced up at the golden crown on her head, and grabbed it. She stared at it before gritting her teeth. She remembered freezing the Princesses earlier. Yet, she pushed it aside. It was only ice. And they were goddesses. They would have burst through the ice as soon as they were frozen.
"I'm never going back. The past is in the past!!" She threw the tiny trinket out of an archway window. Grinning madly as she twirled around, her wings wide open. She grabbed the back of her hair, releasing it and allowing it fall beside her neck in braid. Brushing a hoof through her mane, ruffling it, she waved the other one beside herself.
In a glimmering blue light, white twinkled over her. Her darker cyan coat turning into a lighter shade of blue. Her braided mane, and her half braided tail, now a vibrant shade of white. Her eyes faded from glowing rose pink, to glimmering bright blue. She flapped her wings as she grinned.
"I'll rise like the break of dawn." The mare stated as she strutted onto the balcony. The sky lit up in pinks, oranges and yellows as the sun shakily made it's way into the sky. A beautiful view of the snow capped mountains before her.
"That perfect mare is gone! And here I stand!! And here I shall let the storm rage on!!" She hovered into the air, her fore-legs wide open.
She grinned, finally free of herself. Letting her true spirit go. She left 'Rainbow Dash' behind her. She was leaving the past. She was now free.
"The cold never bothered me anyway." The new pegasus turned around as she slammed the door. A small, calm breeze flowing behind her, with a few snowflakes drifting around her. Ice and snow was at her control. She was a queen. A queen who was free.
Or so she thought.
Author's Notes:
Urgh. This chapter annoyed me. Sorry if it's pathetic.
Notes:- Rainbow's charm kept her physical appearance. With her charm, she looked like 'Rainbow Dash'. Who was a fake personality. She'll explain it in a later chapter.
Again, she cannot see Equestria from her view. Or the Crystal Empire.
No, she will not become an alicorn. No alicorns.Next chapter, the mane four get in a bit of stormy trouble. Leaving one mare to venture by herself, that is until she bumps into two ponies.
