Prologue

The year was 2183. Humanity had just earned a seat on the Council after their heroic sacrifice in the defence of the Council during Sovereign's attack on the Citadel. Their sacrifice cost the lives of many humans. They were not the only ones who had great losses from this attack though, the Turians lost a large number of their warships from the initial assualt. This battle would be the battle that changed the galaxy. It revealed the true threat of the Reapers, though the Council was quick to denounce this claim, and it showed just how vulnerable the Turian military was. The Turians realised that the need to upgrade both their tactics and their weaponry in order to prevent an attack like this from ever happening again was necessary.

Though Sovereign and Saren had been defeated, there were still many pockets of Geth spread out across the galaxy that still posed a threat. Commander Shepard and his crew were dispatched to eliminate these remaining pockets of Geth resistance, but there were too many for one ship to handle on its own. So, the Council called upon the Turians to help remove the remaining hostile Geth. The Turians proudly accepted this responsibility as they had hoped to get revenge for those they lost at the "hands" of the Geth.

After witnessing first hand what the human ship SSV Normandy could do in combat, the Turians decided that their fleets needed a similar ship. Though they had assisted the humans in the construction of the Normandy, it was still a humand ship. Thus, project Basilisk was born. Their goal of the project Basilisk was to be the best frigate in the entirety of the Turian fleet. It was to be faster than any known frigate and house weapons that were capable of punching a hole clear through the hull of a cruiser. It would also be able to use stealth in the same way the Normandy did. Work on the frigate began immediately and it was hoped that the project would be completed in just 1 year.

The frigate was finished much quicker than anyone expected and met all of the expectations put forth by the Turian military. And with the recent destruction of the late SSV Normandy and the now presumed dead Shepard, the Basilisk began earning the nickname of Normandy V2 by the Turians who had worked on it. All the ship needed was a crew and a good captain. Joram Chek was decided as being the best suited for the position as captain, as he had many years as a frigate commander, won several medals for his command during a number of battles and was one of the few who had survived the attack on the Citadel.

Also, assigned to the Basilisk, was a squad of some of the best soldiers in the Turian military. Cpt. Geios, a tech savvy vehicle enthusiast, his determination to learn about all things mechanical lead him to a satisfactory position in the engineering corps. Besides his love of the machine, he is also, in times of need, a natural born leader. Lt. Thas Nahlis, one of the best fighter pilots to ever come out of the Turian Navy and also one of the craziest, a Turian who was never known for being discrete and always preferred charging head on into a battle, calls himself “the fastest flyer in the universe” and has one of the most advanced fighters credits can buy. Though, he prefers to be in the cockpit of his fighter. He also has exceptional training with assault rifles. Dr. Redius, a brilliant and dependable Turian scientist, who could identify any species and know their weaknesses. He, however, isn't known for taking the most "sane" approach to a given situation or being sane for that matter. The last member of the squad was also the newest. Int. Septimus Zod, the most hyperactive Turian you could ever imagine. He almost never stops talking and always seems to get on the nerves of the rest of his squad, but his exceptional combat skills and love for explosives make him a valuable asset on every mission. These four would make up the ground team of the Basilisk and in case anything were to happen to Joram, Geios would assume command of the vessel.

The Basilisk was given it’s very first assignment and was assigned to the Turian fleet Rasun under the command of General Lorik Vas’nul. It was to investigate a presumably large contingency of Geth, who were believed to be behind the destruction of the Normandy.

The Geth were tracked down to the outer rim of the Terminus Systems. Command was right about one thing, there was definitely a large number of hostile Geth in the area. The fleet found itself quickly overwhelmed.

“General! We just lost the cruiser, Arandur! I’ve been informed that there are no survivors!” announced one of the Turian communications operators aboard the Dreadnaught, Vangard, which was the flagship of the Rasun fleet.

“Damn, these Geth are proving to be more of an threat than I had previously anticipated. Tell the other ship commanders to begin preparation for a full retreat through the mass relay.” ordered General Vas'nul.

“But sir! We can’t just run! We must stay and fight!” responded one of the cruiser commanders. "If we flee, it will only show to the Geth that we are weak in a fight!"

“If we stay and fight, the only thing we will accomplish is having an entire fleet lost. We will retreat back through the relay, link up with another one of our fleets, and return in full force.” barked Vas'nul.

“Fine, sir.” responded a now agrivated commander.

"All ships! This is General Vas'nul speaking! I'm giving the order for a full retreat through the Mass Relay. We are to meet up with one of our other fleets and return to remove these Geth from the universe." ordered the General in a broadcast to the other ships in the fleet.

Just as the order was given, several Geth cruisers began to engage the dreadnought that housed the general.

“Sir! We’re being engaged by four... No, five cruisers and our weapons are still recharging!” exclaimed an alarmed Turian crew member.

“Order the Marker and Tikyer cruisers to begin engaging these Geth! If we lose this dreadnought the rest of this fleet will fall!” responded Vas'nul.

“Sir! The Marker has been destroyed and the Tikyer is heavily damaged!”

“Damn! Order any available ships to break away and help defend the flagship!”

“Any and all vessels! The flagship is under heavy fire and is requsting immediate assistance!”

“Roger that! This is Commander Joram of the Basilisk! We are on our way!” announced the commander of the prototype “Basilisk” frigate. "All right, let's see if all the work put into this thing was worth it! Open fire on those cruisers!"

Suddenly, one of the attacking Geth ships erupted into a ball of fire as the main cannon of the Basilisk tore through its hull. The other frigates realised they were being engaged from behind and began to turn themselves around to face this unforeseen enemy.

“Got one!” yelled Sgt. Geios, as he watched the battle unfold from the main deck of the Basilisk.

“Yea, but lets not get too cocky now.” replied Joram.

“Yea, we can get cocky once we’ve fucked up a few more of them!” said Thas over the comm. Thas was leading a small fighter group assisting the Basilisk in it’s assault on the group of Geth cruisers.

“Stow it, Thas, and continue on with the attack. We lose that flagship and you can guarantee we won’t be going home either.” responded Geios.

“Yea, yeah I know! But don’t expect me to take out all of these Geth on my own. Eventually, I'm gonna need some help! I mean I am just in a fighter! Not the best thing to be taking on a cruiser now, is it?”

“Dammit!“ Geios said under his breath. “Doesn’t that bastard realise that this isn’t the best time to be joking around?”

“Well that’s Thas for ya. He never takes anything seriously.” came the voice of Joram, who had a look of annoyance on his face.

“Aww, that hurt my feelings, commader!” replied Thas, who evidently was still listening in on the conversation.

"Sir! The main canon is fully recharged! We can fire another round now!" announced one of the crew.

"Good. Target the far left one. And order Thas and his fighters to begin a bombing run on the middle cruiser. We need to make quick work of these Geth before we lose anymore ships."

"Aye Aye Sir!" responded the crew member.

"Roger that!" exclaimed Thas. "All right you barefaces! Follow my lead!" Thas and his squad of fighters broke off from their formation and began barrleing down on their target. Another Geth cruiser was torn in half by the main canon of the Basilisk just as the squad of fighters began their bombing run. They zeroed in on the bridge of the Geth cruiser and released their ordinance. Massive explosives shook the Geth ship and set off a chain reaction of explosions causing the unfortunate ship to split into a million tiny peices.

"WOOHOO!" yelled Thas as he watched his handiwork with a large grin on his face. "That's how it's done boys!" The last two remaining geth cruisers had come under attack by several other Turian ships and were quickly cut down. "It's about time you guys showed up! I was thinking that we would have to do this all on our own."

"We weren't about to let you have all the fun," replied one of the Turian commanders. "Now get back to your frigate. We still have to fall back through the relay before the rest of the Geth show up."

"He's right Thas," Geios said. "Now return to the frigate. We-" Geios' words were cut off as a group of Geth fighters began a surprise attack on the Basilisk. The bridge of the ship shook violently sending several crew members into the walls and knocking Geios and Joram to the floor.

"Shit!" Geios growled as he began standing back up. "Is everyone all right?"

"A few scrapes, but we're all good." responded a crew member.

"And I'm fine," Joram said as he returned to his "captians" chair.

"Activate the deffence turrets! Shot those bastards down!" commanded a shaken, but unhurt Joram.

"Yes Sir!" The defence turrets of the Basilisk sprung to live and began launching missles at the squad of Geth fighters.

In another area of the ship, two Turians had just gotten off the ground after being violently shaken by the explosions caused by the attacking fighters.

"Woah, did you feel that?" asked one of the Turians.

"No. I just got slammed against a wall and nearly had my spine snapped. I didn't feel anything." responded the other in a clearly annoyed tone.

"Eh whatever. I thought that was pretty sweet! Well, not the us being attacked part, but the shaking was pretty fucking sweet!"

"Shut up Zod. My brain is beginning to hurt just from listening to you. Sometimes, I wish I could just cut out your vocal cords."

"You need to lighten up, Dr. Red." responded a now bored Zod.

"My name is Redius! And I would like it if you don't use some stupid nickname with me. I know over 1000 ways to kill you and it would be wise to not anger me."

"Fine, Geez! I'm just trying to have some fun! Don't gotta be a dick about it."

Redius sighed. "Whatever, now can you please let me get back to work? I have to make sure all my medical supplies are ready in case any of the crew were severly injured from that shaking."

"Ok. By the way, why did Geios send me down here? Why ain't I up in the bridge helping with this fight?"

"Because a heavy weapons and explosives expert won't do too good in a space battle. Besides, after that "incident" with those grenades, I doubt Joram wants you anywhere near the Bridge.

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! I was just trying to jury-rig some fireworks to celebrate the completion of this ship! I didn't expect it to blow a hole in the cargo hold!"

"Sure it was Zod." Redius said in a sarcastic tone. "Now, could you make yourself useful and hand me those syringes over there?"

"Ok." Zod responded with a sigh.

"Sir! All of the fighters have been eliminated and the rest of the Geth appear to be falling back to regroup! Thas and his squad have also docked in the cargo hold!" announced one of the Basilisk's crew members.

"Good. Inform the General that we are clear to fall back through the relay." Joram responded.

"I'm already aware that they are leaving commander." came the Vas'nul's voice over the comms. "And good work with those cruisers. I'm not sure we would've made it if it weren't for you."

"Don't thank us General! Thank the smart asses who came up with this ship!" replied Geios.

"I will. Now, all vessels. Prepare to make the jump through the relay!" The Vangard was the first ship to make the jump followed by several other cruisers and frigates.

"Commander Joram! A large number of Geth are approaching our position! They are moving very fast, sir!" announced Geios, as he looked at a radar which had just lit up with activity.

"Damn! Full-speed! we need to get through that relay before those geth reach us!" responed a now worried commander Joram.

"Sir, we can't!" responded the pilot. "Those geth fighters damaged our engines so i can't reach full speed!"

A large flash of light blinded the Turians in the bridge as one of their cruisers was destroid by the incoming geth.

"We need to get through that relay! NOW!" yelled Geios. As another Turian ship exploded. This one was right next to the Basilisk and caused the ship to shake violently.

"Almost there! Just about... there! We've made it to the relay! Strap in everyone! We're making the jump!" announced the pilot.

"Thank the Maker!" said a relieved Geios and Joram.

Before the ship was able to make the jump, one of the geth frigates collided with the Basilisk. The cause for this Geth frigates collision was from a round that had clipped one of the Geth ship's engines, causing the ship to barrle into the side of the Basilisk. Both ships were sent throught the relay at an angle, causing them to go extremely off course from the relay's intended destination.

"Hold on!" screamed the terrified pilot.

Both ships exited the jump and were now being pulled down to the surface of a unknown planet they had unfortunately gotten too close to. As they began to be pulled down by the planets gravity, the two conjoined ships broke apart and were sent hurdleing in opposite directions.

"Brace for impact!" yelled Joram over the intercom of the Basilisk.

The ship began to get closer and closer to the surface of this planet and were only seconds away from impacting with the surface. Several of what appeared to be cities began to come into frame. Whatever this place was, one thing was certain, it wasn't uninhabited.

"Sir! I'm seeing several things which appear to be settlements doted accross the terrain!" announced the pilot.

"Do you're best to avoid them and find a large enough area to bring this thing down!" Joram ordered.

"I'll do my best sir! But with only one engine online it's gonna be tricky!"

"I thought you were supposed to be the best frigate pilot in the Turian military?"

"Right sir! Forget about what I said. I got this!" The pilot began turning the ship as much as possible and located where he was gonna bring her down. He noticed a large flat area located in the middle of a large forest, which appeared to be miles away from any settlement. He concluded this was the best place to land.

"Alright! I'm bringing her down! Brace yourselves!"

The ship struck the ground hard and the crew who hadn't straped themselves in were smashed against the walls of the ship. A small explosion erupted from the back of the ship as the only remaining engine ruptured. The systems on the bridge began to spark and some even bursted into flames. The ship slowly grinded to a halt just before it reached the tree line.

After several minutes, Geios finally slipped back into consiousness after being knocked out by the force of the crash.

"Ugh.... I-Is.... everyone all.... ow .... right?"

Twilight couldn't believe what she just saw. She had been looking up into the night sky, admiring the many constallations from the telescope she had set up on a hill, when two very large objects began to fall from the sky. One went off in one direction, and the other went in the opposite direction. The first object fall over the horizon and dissapeared from her view. The other, however, seemed to be heading straight towards Ponyville.

"Oh my gosh!" exclaimed Twilight. "That thing's heading right for Ponyville!" As if the object had heard what she said, it began to change course for the Everfree Forest. The object was massive. The only thing she could think it could be was an astoroid, but the flashing lights on it's.... wings? quickly dismissed that idea. The object roared overhead emiting a very load noise that nearly caused Twilight to go deaf before crashing deep within the Everfree forest. Twilight flinched as a large fireball seemed to erupt from where the object landed.

"I must let Princess Celestia know about this!" Twilight said, as she began to run back into town.
