Chapter 1: Party Pony

Party Pony

Sometimes I just wish somepony would understand why I act the way I do. I mean yes they understand my cutie mark, but that’s as far as they pry. They never question anything. They just go with the flow or say “Oh Pinkie! You are so RANDOM!”. Sometimes I wish they WOULD pry. Then I could at least explain why. I guess you could say this is the beginning of my story. Of why I do the things I do and why everypony thinks I will amount to nothing but a silly filly with parties and cupcakes on her mind.

It was a cold day on the rock farm. Pinkie shivered as a gust of wind flew past her. Her dad walked up, a stern look on his face.

“Girls, tonight we need to harvest the rocks from the north field and rotate them to the….” Pinkie Pie jumped up and down, frizzy pink mane bouncing with the energetic ponies body.

“Can we have a harvest party?!?! Oh! I bet I could find some streamers and balloons!!!” Pinkie’s dad winced at his daughters enthusiasm. The two sisters hid behind a rock, shielding themselves from the explosion of pure joy. Pinkie’s ears flattened to her head as she looked down. “Or maybe just some cookies and punch?” Her father shook his head disapprovingly.

“No parties until the end of the winter, then we will talk.” Pinkie nodded, her eyes looking down almost ashamed for bringing the party idea up. Mr. Pie saw the look of defeat on his daughters face. Instantly groping for the correct words to display his thoughts, he spoke “N-Not that we don’t love your parties! It’s just, well you don’t have to celebrate EVERYTHING Pinkie!” The attempt to lift her spirits failed dramatically.

“Okay daddy…”  Pinkie went back to her work in the dreary weather. The sisters, now sensing they were safe from Pinkie’s outbursts, went back to their work. Staring at the pile of rocks in front of her, Pinkie felt a feeling she hated. THE feeling she had tried to suppress the most, sorrow.  Her eyes ascended to the sky, praying to Celestia for a rainbow to cheer her up.

“P-Pinkamina?” Her sister spoke to her as if she was a stranger. Pinkie instantly smiled and jumped again.

“Yes! My most bestest sister in the whole wide wide world of Equeastria?!?” The timid gray filly shook ferociously, a terrified look in her eyes.  The other sister hid behind the rock she was working on, waiting and watching her timid sister confront the frizzy maned filly.

“U-Um Pinkamina-”

“Silly Filly! Call me Pinkie!” The poor soul sank to the dirt as Pinkie Pie drew closer and closer.

“Oh well it was just……. Um…..”  Her voice squeaked in a manner much like Fluttershy’s in nature. Pinkie’s heart sank as she watched her sisters face contort into a rather uncomfortable looking frown. Her sister looked to the ground.

“Well….. It was just that Amy and I were wondering if you could… um tone it down?” The frightened pony looked up to her appalled sister. Amethyst still stood behind the rock nodding her head furiously. Pinkie’s mind couldn’t comprehend what her younger sister was asking of her.

“D-  Do” Pinkie stuttered, “Do you really have THAT much of a problem with- with my parties?“ Amethyst stood from her place behind the rock. Having found the courage to confront her party-prone sister.

“Of course! Pinkamina, every since you got your cutie mark you have been nothing but annoying!” The words stung Pinkie, like tiny hornets in her heart. “I mean you want nothing but to party and be happy! It's exhausting! The only reason Mom and Dad don’t say anything is because they don’t want you to feel bad! You have always been the favorite and now your pushing us all to the LIMIT!” Amethyst‘s usually calm purple coat was blushed after her outburst. Gem stood, shocked at what her twin had said. “What? It’s true! You said so yourself! I mean the first party was great! It was really cool to not have to farm rocks all day and take the day off for a fun get together, but that was IT! Then came the after party, then the after-after  party and THEN the dreaded ‘OH MY CELESTIA WE FOUND ANOTHER ROCK!!!’ party!” Pinkie took every word like a painful stab.

“I thought everypony liked my parties….” her eyes and ears drooped lower than her hooves. Amethyst’s eyes pierced her older sister.

“Well they don’t!  NOPONY likes your parties!” Gem looked aghast at her sister.

“Th-That’s not true! I- I like most of your parties…” Amethyst glared at her twin. To Amethysts delight, Pinkie did not hear her soft spoken sister. Pinkie ran off to her room in the small house. Her mother looked up at the small pink pony. She worriedly walked up the steps after her eldest daughter, trying to offer support and comfort. Pinkie was already locked in her room sobbing deeply into her pillow.

“No-Nopony likes my parties…. B-But I put so much heart and work into each on! How can nopony like them!” She heard a knock at the door, but didn’t bother to open it.

"Pinkie? Pinkamina? Open the door! I want to help you!” After knocking a little more, her mother walked away to fetch her sisters, and find out what was wrong. Pinkie didn’t hear her mother scolding her sisters, she thought that her dear mother didn’t care anymore. A thought crossed Pinkie’s mind. What if nopony truly cares. Pinkies face was set in a disbelieving expression. It soon changed when the second thought appeared. What if nopony WILL care… Her mind went ten million miles a minute to adjust to the situation. Her normally puffed up hair exploded into a perfectly straight mane. Her usually perky blue eyes shrinked into nothing but pupils in a vast field of white. Nopony likes your parties. And NOPONY cares about you. Pinkie whipped her head around the room, looking for the foreign voice. “Hello?” Nopony except me. The terrified pink filly hid under her covers, providing false protection. “Who- Who’s Here!” Hello Pinkie, It’s very lovely to meet you.
