Scootabelle
Chapter 2: Original
Previous Chapter"Yes?" Rarity sighed. Her little sister had been peering over her shoulder and fake coughing for the past hour. The older unicorn did her best to ignore it, but, based on past experience, it was probably easier just to let the filly talk.
"Oh, it's nothing," Sweetie Belle blushed a little. Rarity waited for the but. "But..."
There it was. Now it was her turn to ask: But what?
"But what?" she said distractedly.
"Rarity, have you ever been," Sweetie paused for dramatic effect, "in love?"
The older unicorn's hooves slipped on the sewing machine. But, completely out of character, Rarity ignored the sudden binding of a sleeve. "What? Oh, Sweetie Belle! You're in love? With who? You're in love? Oh, Sweetie."
"No! Yes. Maybe? I don't know. How can you tell?"
"Oh well," Rarity wasn't quite sure how to explain the feeling. "You know you love a pony if... if everything just feels right. Like you could spend the rest of your life with that pony, and not regret a thing. You just," Rarity collapsed into happy daydreams. "You just know."

Sweetie Belle paced around the treehouse. Scootaloo and Applebloom were late, as usual. After a full twenty minutes of waiting, the purple-maned pegasus finally appeared.
"What took you so long?" Sweetie asked, peevishly.
"Sorry, Sweetie, had to go the long way around. Applejack's out there ready to recruit anypony into gardening." The orange pony stuck out her tongue in disgust. "Applebloom here yet?"
"Not yet."
"Shoot. She probably got caught by AJ. Well, since it's just gonna be me and you, what do you wanna do?"
Sweetie Belle toyed with the idea of joining their poor friend, but then quickly decided against it. If they were destined to become Cutie Mark Gardeners, then their flanks were better off blank.
"Oh, I know! Let's play truth or dare?"
Scootaloo rolled her eyes. "With just the two of us? That sounds pretty boring."
"Would you rather go help Applebloom?"
"So, truth or dare?"
The unicorn grinned mischievously.
--
The game progressed how truth and dare games always progress. And finally Scootaloo asked the question that was bound to come up eventually. Because it always does.
"So, do you like anypony?" Scootaloo asked, eyebrows raised.
"Well," Sweetie blushed, "er, yes."
"Oooooo! Who is it?"
"Hey, it's my turn to ask. Do you?"
"Do I what?" Scoots feigned ignorance.
Sweetie Belle's eyes narrowed. Then she giggled, "Do you like anypony?"
"Hey, you didn't ask me if I wanted to do a dare!"
"Okay, fine. Scoots, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Okay, I dare you to say truth next time."
"Hey! Unfair."
"Nothing says I can't!"
"Fine. Sweetie, truth or dare?"
"Hmmmm," Sweetie mocked thinking about it for almost thirty seconds.
"Come ooooon," Scootaloo moaned.
"Okay fine. Truth."
"Okay! Who do you like."
Sweetie was expecting this, but was unprepared. "Well, er.. I..." she stammered. Finally, she just walked up to Scootaloo and closed her eyes. The unicorn didn't think, she just acted. The white filly planted a small kiss on the orange one's cheek.
"Whoa! What are you doing?" Scootaloo backed away from Sweetie Belle rather quickly.
"It's you, Scoots. I like you. I think I -"
"No." Scootaloo jumped up and headed toward the door. "I just. Sorry, Sweetie, I need to go."
"But Scoot," Sweetie Belle held out a hoof. But her friend was already out the door, motoring away, "I love you."
She returned home, head hung low. She wasn't really sure how she felt. She thought she loved Scootaloo, but the way her friend reacted made her unsure. Shouldn't Scoots love her back? She didn't know. She had no clue how this thing worked. But one thing she did know: That certainly could've gone better.
