-Prologue-

It’s not easy being an apprentice. When I started helping her, I didn’t know she would take it this far. I’ve seen the look in her bloodshot eyes and I can still see her Element trying to escape from the prison she put in her mind. But it’s too recessed. Now she can’t control her real self. Ever since the Rainbow Dash escapade, she’s gone completely crazy. I don’t mind it though. It’s what I signed up for. I’ll do anything for her just to keep myself alive. At first, the decisions were tough. But then we got to Gilda and I enjoyed seeing her get taken apart, piece by piece. The blood tasted good, kinda like Scootaloo (who did actually taste like chicken). I felt something in the back of my head feel guilt, but it was pushed away by the thought of ripping somepony’s heart out. Pinkamena even let me have one to myself; Silver Spoon was just practice because it seemed so easy. I have her hanging on the wall Pinkie assigned to my own victims. Recently though, instead of helping out with the torture, she’s having me record everything she does to whoever is unlucky enough to encounter the mad mind of the Element of Slaughter. My name is Applebloom and these are the reports I have written of the madness of the cupcake murderer we all know as Pinkamena Diane Pie.

The Plan

The Plan

It’s been a couple weeks since we ended Dash’s life. It was quite sad really. I thought the cupcakes would taste better. Pinkie was getting antsy for a kill and so was I.

“So, Pinkie, who are we gonna kill today?” I walk over to where she’s sitting at the sharpening wheel.

“My sweet Applebloom, I don’t prefer to call it killing. I call it ‘premature destruction of existence’” She checks the knife she’s sharpening on the wheel. It creates a trickle of blood that runs down her hoof. “Perfect…” She says, chuckling under her breath.

“Okay then…who are we gonna…uh…whatever you said.”

Pinkamena picks up a handsaw. “Well, it’s more like a few ponies.” She starts sharpening it. Sparks start flying everywhere. I keep my distance. “You know how Dash was the Element of Loyalty?”

“Uh…sure.” I keep watching the sparks.

“Well, since she didn’t last as long as I thought she would, that gave me an idea. Why don’t I see how long the other Elements last?”

“Hey! That’s a pretty good idea. Who are we gonna try first?” I walk closer to her.

She stops sharpening the handsaw and puts it down. “I was thinking we could start with the weakest and end with who I think is the strongest.” She gets up from the wheel and starts walking toward the wall that has the hidden elevator. She taps one of the bricks and the wall opens up to an old looking lift. “Come on, Applebloom.” She walks into the lift and puts a hoof on a lever that is sticking out of the floor of it.

I walk over and get on also. When I turn around, I look at all the mounted heads of victims. You’d think that someone would have found out by now that all these creatures were missing, but we’ve been lucky so far. “So does that mean we’re starting with Fluttershy?”

She pushes the lever, the wall closes, and we start rising to the main floor. As we pass by each underground floor, the light shines onto Pinkamena. Each time the light shines, I can see the transformation from the straight-haired killer to the puffy-haired party lover. It’s amazing how fast she can change personalities.

“You are correct. I’m almost done planning on how we can lure her here, but I will need your help along with writing down the plan so I don’t forget.” The lift starts slowing down.

“I’ll do whatever it takes.”

“That’s the spirit!” she bounces up and down, getting into her “normal” character. The lift stops and the wall opens up. We both walk out, and the wall closes, leaving behind no trace of anything out of the normal.

Sugarcube Corner is a weird place when it’s closed. There’s not really any sign that it’s a bakery because Pinkie didn’t set anything up. Why would she need to? Mr. and Mrs. Cake were out on a business trip and Pinkie said she couldn’t run the store by herself. Clever mare, because how can somepony run a business and a slaughterhouse at the same time?

Pinkie trots into the kitchen with me following her. She opens up a drawer and pulls out a stack of papers and a pencil. She sets them on the table and I jump into the chair. I pick up the pencil with my teeth and wait for Pinkie to start talking.

“Okay, Applebloom,” She has a dark tone in her voice, but her hair is still poofy. “Make sure you get all of this. I don’t want to forget it.”

“Yes’m. I’ll write as fast as I can.” I place the tip of the pencil on the paper, holding the edges with my hooves.

“First, we’re gonna go after Fluttershy. There should be a way we can get her here using wildlife or something.” She sits down and taps a hoof on her chin, thinking. “I got it! You know that not everything is cute and cuddly in the Everfree Forest, right? This is where you come in. I need you to take her there, saying that you found some kind of rare animal.”

“Then what, I knock her out using a hammer or a rock or something?”

“Not quite, she’ll see you carrying the hammer, and a rock might make her weaker than I want her to be.” She goes over to a cupboard, pulls out a jar of liquid, and sets it on the table. “You see this? This is an antidote for the poisoning of the deadliest snake in Equestria. I need you to get her to be bitten by one. Then when she passes out, bring her back here. You’ll have to hurry up though because she’ll stop living within 5 hours. The antidote will take her back to full health. Perfect for seeing how far she will be able to go.”

I finish the last word and look up from the paper. “Is that it?”

Pinkie grabs the jar and puts it back for later. “Yes, Fluttershy’s is done. Now, onto the next one, let’s see…who should be so lucky?

Picking up another piece of paper, I get ready to write down her next idea.

“Ooo…I believe Rarity should be the next one. She does seem like she would put up a fight. She could use her magic to keep me from doing what I wanna do to her. I’ll need your help with that.”

I pause my writing. “Sweetie Belle once told me that when Rarity looks at a big enough jewel for long enough, she gets entranced and totally blocks out the world. I don’t know how Sweetie figured it out, but it could prove useful. We just need to find a jewel big enough for her.”

“Perfect! She’ll be so out of it, she won’t notice getting taken down and strapped in until it’s too late. I’ll have something special planned just for her. Alright! Next one.”

I place the paper onto the other one. Then I hear a knock on the front door. Pinkie bounces to the front door and opens it. Applejack is sitting there with a glum look on her face.

“Hey there Pinkie. I’m here to pick up Applebloom. Thanks for babysitting her for me.”

I heard this and I went into a huff. How many times do I have to tell her that I’m not a baby any more? I can take care of myself!

“Aww, but Applebloom and I were having so much fun together!”

“I’m glad at least you’re having fun. I mean you are the Element of Laughter after all. It’s just…things aren’t gonna be the same with Rainbow Dash gone. I wonder how she’s doing in Baltimare.” She gives a heavy sigh. “Well, I’m sure she’s gonna be fine adjusting there. Come on Applebloom!”

I almost forgot about how we got everypony to believe that Rainbow Dash wasn’t killed, just leaving. Pinkie and I sent out letters to them describing that Rainbow Dash finally got into the Wonderbolts and she had to leave immediately to their new HQ in Baltimare.

I trot into the front room next to Pinkie. “Aww…can’t I spend the night here?” I pull my infamous pony-eyes look that no one has ever been able to say no to. Applejack strained to not look into my eyes, but she caught a glimpse and couldn’t look away.

“Fiiiiiine, but you be good, and I’ll be here to pick you up tomorrow, okay?”

“You got it, big sis!” I hug her and say goodbye. That seems to cheer her up a bit, but she still gloomily walks away.

Pinkie closes the door and locks it. “Alright, you’ll be able to stay all night here. Let’s get back to planning now that we won’t have any more distractions.”

I follow Pinkie Pie back into the kitchen and sit back at the table.

“Okay, now that we have Fluttershy and Rarity down, who would be the next one? Hmm….Oh! Heh, I’m sorry to say this Applebloom, but I’m afraid Applejack will have to be the next one.”

I sit there and my jaw drops open, making the pencil fall on the floor. Pinkie picks it up and puts it back on the table. “But…but…this is my sister we’re talking about!”

“I don’t care, and you shouldn’t either! If you want to stay being my apprentice, you’ll have to face the consequences. Otherwise, I won’t need you anymore and you’ve seen too much for me to keep you alive.”

I still sat there, stunned by her sudden outburst. I was contemplating whether I wanted to see my own sister being tortured to death, or end up dead myself. I chose the first one. “You’re right Pinkie. If I wanna be like you someday, I’ll have to not care who it is, even if its family or friends.”

“There we go! Now, what are we gonna do to get Applejack here?” She takes a seat at the table next to me. “This could be an easy one because she likes apples so much.”

“Oh! I’m remembering a ponytale I heard in school a couple of days ago. It was called Flow White and the Seven Colts. Kind of a cheesy name, but in the story, Flow eats an apple that is poisoned by an evil marewitch. Flow wasn’t killed, but she had to be resuscitated by a prince with a kiss. Eww…Yuck. ”

“Way to think on the spot Applebloom! You’re getting to be as mischievous as I am. That is a great idea. I have some untraceable poisons down in the chamber that I could coat an apple with. I could put it on a couple of the apples in the orchard so she wouldn’t be able to notice anything wrong with it.”

“That’s it? That seems pretty simple even for you Pinkie Pie. But, you’re the boss and whatever you say, goes.” I get another piece of paper. “So that means…the only one left would be Twilight?

“Yup. This one will be tricky though, because of her vast knowledge of teleportation and telekinetic spells. But recently, I asked her if I could find a book in her library on how to make punch have more of a sour tingle, and when I was looking through the books, I stumbled across a book that used self-inflicting spells such as transformation or memory-enhancing. The book was really dusty, which probably meant Twilight hasn’t used it in a while. I flipped through it and saw a spell that could be recited to induce REM sleep almost instantly on the pony who says it.”

“I keep forgetting, is that the part of sleep with the dreams?”

“It sure is. She’ll be too far down in dreamland that when she wakes up, she will still think she’s in her dream, only it will be very real indeed…heh heh.” She rubs her hoofs together menacingly. Her hair is slowly deflating.

I finish writing and put the pencil down. My neck is sore from all the writing, but I think we have a pretty good plan as long as everything goes as we think it will.

“I’m tired Pinkie, where am I gonna sleep tonight?” I get up from the table.

“Oh, you can sleep in my bed. I’ll be up all night getting things ready for our first victim tomorrow.”

“We’re gonna start this tomorrow? How will you be ready in time?”

“I have my ways.”

And with that, I left her sitting at the table; her straight hair drooped over one eye, percolating the plan in her head. I head upstairs and get snuggled into her bed. I fall asleep quickly, but I’m still thinking about the final look on Dashie’s face as the life left her magenta colored eyes. My dreams were affected greatly by that look, but I enjoyed them. My mind is already starting to get demented and it will only become worse as we start going through the Elements.
