10,000 years. Ten thousand years. Ten thousand years since Blitz and Inferno came to Equestria. Since then, a lot of things have changed.

First off, Equestria is little more than a frozen wasteland, its cities and towns trapped under an eternal, never-melting glacier. A bastion of ice. A cold and frigid world, left to rot in the never-ending void.

Second, no ponies live on the world. They all perished with the death of the sun and moon, left to freeze over as the lights in the sky no longer shone. It's entire population is gone, buried by ice, buried by snow. Only when the distant light of passing stars shines over the dead world does the ice ever melt. And never enough to reach the soil.

Third, there is no life. None at all. The trees, the birds, all this has passed on with the world. All this has passed with the death of the sun.

But when I said no ponies lived on the world, however, I didn't mean that no ponies ran.

Aurora Borealis. The Crystal Unicorn. Robot Unicorn Series 3, RU-003, adaptive enabled. The final pony to ever walk the wasteland and survive. A machine, perfectly calibrated and programmed. She was made for this world, for the frigid apocalypse to come. She holds the combined memories of seven thousand different ponies, seven thousand different personalities, seven thousand survivors that await reactivation. Blitz, Inferno, Twilight, Rainbow...she can barely recall all their names. She is legion, for she is many. She is the legacy of the race, the final "survivor", the only one left.

Her mechanical servos guide her forward, ever-moving in a world that constantly rages with blizzards, where ice and snow freeze over her internal warming system, where her memory core has to be double, triple, and quadruple insulated with enchanted fibers to prevent corruption. Her memories force her onward, searching for something that has eluded her for centuries. Something...big.

Something... that could bring about salvation.
