Growing up in Fillydelphia was hard on Granite. Living in a house of one parent and nine kids meant that he learned to fend for himself. With poverty, gangs, and the growing pollution, he became a hardened stallion. However, he found happiness and sanity in his littlest sister; Precious Jewel. Wanting to protect Jewel, he talked her into running away with him to look for a new home.

He wasn't expecting a place like Ponyville but maybe... just maybe this is the place he was looking for.
