Chapter 4: To fix a Nights worth of Pain

‘Why her?’ was the question most flung around for the rest of the evening. People just didn’t understand how Twilight could love such a braggart.

‘But she has changed!’ was the reason Twilight kept it going. In the end, Fluttershy was the only one who wasn’t fazed. Pinkie was more supportive than against.

‘If you guys don’t want Twilight to be happy then you should just leave now!’ She yelled. The night turned out horribly. The surprise party had turned into an argument fuelled with the oil of hatred. Rarity had taken her stuff and moved into Applejacks house. Spike was sleeping at the time, Celestia knows why he didn’t wake up. Twilight and Trixie went to sleep in the formers small bed. It wasn’t to comfortable, but they had each other. The morning was just as harsh. When Spike awoke and saw that Rarity wasn’t in her bed, he assumed she was sleeping with Twilight. However, when he got to Twilights bed and saw that it was some Blue unicorn he just climbed back down and went to find Rarity. At about half past nine the pair woke up. Neither was too happy about the night before, but they were determined to fix things.

‘No, Twilight! I will fix this myself! But I must have your sincerest promise that you will not meddle with me trying to remedy my past mistakes!’ She said.

‘Bu-‘

‘But nothing! I don’t want you to get hurt all for nothing again. Last night was the worst thing I ever had to endure and you being there, protecting me, made it even worse. I love you, but I hate to see you hurt.’

‘Okay then. Just, don’t get too in over your head. Prove to them you have changed.’

‘I will.’ Trixie then ran out the door, ready to face her problems.

=====================================================

Trixie’s first stop was Applejacks. She would kill two birds with one stone there; Rarity and Applejack. However, Rarity wasn’t there. ‘You mean to tell me Rarity is at Carousel boutique?’

‘Eeyup!’ Said Big Macintosh.

‘And Applejack is bucking apples?’

‘Eeyup!’

‘Thank you very much!’

She ran as fast as she could through the trees and she found Applejack shortly after.

‘What do you want? Came ta gloat?’ Applejack said coldly.

‘No. I came to apologize for my behaviour that day. It was incredibly rude and stupid of me.’ She said.

‘Well, ah can’t tell whether your lyin or not. But I still don’t trust you!’

‘Well,’ Ah ha! Trixie you are a genius! ‘, I can help you buck the apples if you want?’

‘Well, sure Ah guess.’

‘Great!’

Applejack was curious as to what could have brought on a change of heart, but still appreciative of Trixies help; She’d never turned down a hard worker and she wasn’t going to start now. After a few hours of Apple bucking Trixie was ready to collapse. They’d talked the entire time and had gotten to know each other better. Many trees were cleared of their apples too. ‘Well, you sure did prove your trustworthy. But, ah wanna say ah’m sorry for mah behaviour last night. It was mighty rude of me.’

‘Apology accepted Applejack. I’m just really sorry for what I did to you on that day I came here.’

‘It’s alright. The past is tha past. We all make mistakes. And mine last night was a mighty one.’

‘Well, see you around Applejack!’ She yelled as she began to run. Okay, one down, two to go! Boy are my legs are awfully tired, how can such a pony do that every day and not hurt is beyond me. She then came across Carousel Boutique. It was fenced off so Nopony, but authorised personnel would get in. Rarity was standing outside, watching the stallions renovate her workplace and her home. ‘Excuse me, Rarity.’ Trixie said.

‘Oh what do you want? Haven’t you done enough?’

‘No. I need to apologize for turning your Hair green, it was incredibly rude and foolish of me.’

‘Of course it was!’

‘Is there anything I can do to help you?’

‘No. Not unless you can supply me with magical power to fuel that big machine there than no.’ Rarity had forgotten that Trixie was a powerful magician.

‘Consider it done.’

‘Wha-‘

The machine started to buzz as a blue aura surrounded its power supply. Trixie was using all her power to make it start and keep it powered. It was tough, but she knew she could do it. She just had to remember her family, her friends, her Twilight. The joy of memories always helped her produce more power for her spells. The machine was now working at full pace, and its speed was incredibly fast. About 5 minutes past and Rarity was just sitting down on the ground, mouth gaping. She was lost for words, which was something this eloquent speaker couldn’t normally accomplish. Trixie fell in a heap, but rarity caught her just before she hit the ground. Not being a very strong pony, she enlisted the help of one of the Stallions working on her home to carry her to Twilights home.

The door burst open and Twilight was surprised to see a burly Stallion walking in with Trixie on his back. ‘What happened?’ She said. She was panicking and didn’t have a clue what was going on, she didn’t like seeing her unconscious, unless she was sleeping.

‘She overworked herself trying to help me.’ Rarity said. She then trotted over to Twilights writing desk and wrote a note for Trixie for when she woke up. ‘Make sure to give this to her when she wakes up. You have certainly changed her Twilight.’ Twilight began to blush. Rarity was out the door with the Stallion as fast as lightning. Twilight didn’t dare read it. She knew not to interfere with other Ponies business. Twilight sat next to Trixies bed, placing a wet towel on her Loves head.

‘Rest up my lovely. I need you better soon.’ Twilight said. She was glad that Trixie had patched things up with Rarity, but overworking herself to do so? She wasn’t glad about that.

Not 10 minutes after Rarity left, Trixie awoke. ‘Ugh. What happened?’ Trixie asked.

‘You overworked yourself helping Rarity.’

‘Oh. Is she fine?’

Twilight gave a little giggle. ‘Of course she is fine. She wasnt the one trying to power a machine at full power! Also, she left this for you.’

‘What is it?’

‘Read it yourself silly!’

She began to read what was Scribbled on the parchment.

To Trixie,

I thank you for all your help today. But I must insist you do not do that again. It is reckless, and I wouldn’t like to see Twilights Marefriend and Lover getting injured all for me. I sincerely accept your apology and hope you will accept mine. I am sorry for what occurred last night. I was being, shall we say, like a filly. I was more obsessed with proving how bad you were that I didn’t notice you had changed. I don’t know what did it, but it must have been something so magical that made you stop being a boasting braggart.

Yours sincerely,

Rarity

Trixie had shed a tear at this letter. It was one of the most beautiful and sincere things that anypony had ever done for her. Even if she did add an insult at the end. But that wasn’t directed at new Trixie, it was directed at old Trixie. An evil, bragging, benevolent witch. Trixie was no longer that. She was a caring person, who now cared for Rarity and Applejack, as much as her old friends from school. Not many of her friends from school still talked to her regularly. ‘Are you okay Trixie?’ Twilight questioned. Trixie was still fatigued, but she still needed to patch things up with Rainbow dash.

‘I’m fine, Twi, really. I just need to find Rainbow dash and set things right with her.’ She replied. She walked out of the library and walked towards Rainbow Dashs cloud home.

Rainbow dash was inside her cloud home, enjoying the quiet. However, it was ruined when Trixie called out her name. ‘Rainbow dash! Come out here, we need to talk!’ Rainbow peered out side and noticed that it was Trixie.

‘Beat it chump, I’m in the middle of something important!’ She snapped.

‘No! I need to apologize!’

‘Fine.’ She said, begrudgingly. She was sick and tired of interruptions. Pinkie Pie always interrupted her this time of day.

‘What do you want?’

‘I wanted to say I’m sorry for what I did to that day, long ago. It was incredibly immature of me and I’ve realised that I shouldn’t be like that. Do you accept my apology?’

‘Yeah, sure.’

‘That’s wonderful!’

‘Yep.’

An awkward silence had settled in on the two.

‘So, you like flying?’

‘Yep. You like magic?’

‘Yep.’

‘Yep.’

The awkward silence continued.

‘well, I have to go now. Twilights probably getting worried.’

‘She’s like that.’

‘Yep. Well, see ya around buddy.’

‘You two chum.’

Trixie quickly galloped off, and breathed a sigh of relief. In one day she had managed to fix three problems that had caused her months of Trouble. When she arrived back at Twilights Library Applejack was there, speaking with Twilight.

‘Well howdy there Trixie! Great to see you again!’

‘Ah yes. It is.’

‘I was just telling Twilight here how strong your hind legs are. This here pony can buck many an apple tree.  Well I got to go, or else Applebloom won’t do her homework for Cheerilee. See you two Lovebirds around!’

Applejack then walked out. Twilight looked incredibly happy with Trixie and the effort she had put into fixing everything.

‘Spike! Come out!’

‘What?’ Said the purple dragon, his mouth filled with Cake from Sugarcube corner.

‘This is my special somepony.’

‘Oh awesome.’ Twilight didn’t know why he had limited care for who it actually was. But she knew he wasn’t the kind of

dragon to just not care.

‘Don’t you wanna know who she is?’

‘It’s Trixie. Pinkie pie told me when I was at sugarcube corner this morning.’

‘Well why aren’t you making a big deal about it?’

‘Because she has changed. Look, Twilight, I may look stupid, but I’m not. I’ve heard you talk about her like she’s the nicest pony to ever grace Equestria, so I believe you. Plus I did here your conversation with Applejack.’

‘All of it?’ She asked.

‘Every last word.’

‘Even the part about before?’ She asked.

‘With Applejack? Yes. It’s amazing how you can laugh when she says that Trixie can “buck apples really well”.’ Spike and Trixie both fell over on the ground laughing.

‘What?! It isn’t that funny! I just, wasn’t thinking very cleanly at the time!’

‘It’s okay Twilight, I’ll make sure everything is fine.’ Trixie said.

‘So uh, Pinkie pie wants me to call by Sugarcube corner to pick something up. I told her I would so I’m going now.’ As he walked out the Door Rainbow dash came running in.

‘Finally! I finished the last Daring Do book!’

‘No you haven’t. She the author released a new one last month. It’s right here. You should really read the newspaper more often.’ Twilight levitated the book over to Rainbow dash.

'Again?'

'Yes, and she has plans for more.'

‘Awesome!’ She walked out the door, Daring do book underneath her wing and left for her home.

‘I can see why you like it here. The ponies are nice, once they stop hating you.’

‘It’s fine. They just need some time to get used to you. I’m sure they’ll like you as much as Applejack and Rarity.’

Trixie hoped so. She didn’t like getting glared at and rude laughs. It reminded her of the days following the tragedy that occurred in the small town. She was humiliated and alone, but that didn’t stop her from seeking out Twilight. That was possibly the best decision of her life, something she would never regret, no matter what happened.

=============================================

It had been a fortnight since Trixie had become friends with the residents of Ponyville, and she had since moved in with Twilight. The move was smooth and took limited time, but that didn’t help Trixie. She had begun feeling depressed ever since moving home. It wasn’t being in Ponyville as she had become friends with Everypony in Ponyville. It was her parents. She had found many pictures she thought she’d thrown away when she was cleaning out her home in Canterlot. There were two albums she had found. One filled with happy memories, one with sad memories. She had decided to tell Twilight about it and maybe even show her the albums. The only thing she didn’t know was how to break it to her. Twilight was reorganising books in the library after a long weekend of studying and trying to ignore Spikes rambling about why she doesn’t just put them back once she’s finished. ‘And if you did that you wouldn’t have to waste three hours of your Monday reorganising the shelves! See what I mean?’

‘Uh-huh.’ She rudely grunted.

‘It’s like talking to a brick wall with her.’

‘Spike, can you come here a minute?’

‘Ah, sure.’

‘Rarity said she had something to give you when I was talking to her about Sweetie Belles homework.’ Since the time Trixie had moved into Ponyville she had become Teachers assistant to Cheerilee at the Ponyville elementary school.

‘Really?’ The purple dragon still thought he had a shot with Rarity, even though she had started dating Big Macintosh not a day before.

‘Yeah, really.’

‘Alright! Thanks for telling me Trixie!’ Spike then ran out the door, hoping to get another chance at the treasure that was Rarity.

‘That’s the third time this week you’ve gotten him with that.’

‘Yep! He is incredibly gullible.’ She said, letting out a little chuckle.

‘So, what is it that you want to talk about? You only do that when you need to talk to me in private.’

‘Well, it’s about my parents. I may not have been entirely truthful when talking about them that night.’

‘Really?’

‘Yes, and I’m truly sorry. But, I wanted to tell you the whole story, from the beginning. It’s quite long so you got the abridged

version.’

‘I gathered. Tell me, I’m all ears!’ Trixie began to tell her tale.
