Chapter 1: Introduction

I stood in a small grassy field far outside of Ponyville. Far enough, anyways. It wouldn't do to have somepony see this, but I didn't exactly relish the thought a long walk back home. A human figure, clad in green armor, stood across from me. I called out to him, “You know, I've seen you around here a lot recently, I'd ask you why, but you probably have no idea what I'm talking about since, by your standards, you just got here.” The figure didn't move. Yep, strong silent type, that one. I should probably ask the Grandmaster if he was the latest fad. She was always busy, though, what with the double life and all, despite which she somehow seemed to always have bottomless reserves of energy.

Besides, I've dealt with him before, it wasn't that hard if you knew what you were doing. And I was one of the best. While I had been inner-monologuing, he had been trying to sneak up on me. I raised my staff, the aura of my magic surrounding it, runes coming to light on its surface. “Woah there, pal. You might want to rethink that plan.” I cocked my head sideways, “actually, never mind, it's probably in your best interest, seeing as I have to kill you. Don't take it personally, just part of the job.” The man paused for a moment, obviously surprised, then attacked, moving faster than any human should have a right to. I raised my staff once again, “Plot armor. Climactic battle.” and drew my sword, also with magic, moving to meet him.

He threw a punch straight past my guard and knocked me to the ground. I rolled with and came to my feet, making a quick swing with my sword to make him dodge, when suddenly, I felt a slight buzz from my saddlebags. Damn it. I was being recalled back to Ponyville, which meant something important was happening. Or was going to happen. Or a new pony arrived in town. Really, you could never tell with the her. I had been hoping to draw this fight out, have some fun and get some exercise, you know? So many of these fights are magical duels these days. I turned to my opponent, fighting him all the while.

“I hate to do this, I really do, but I just have to run. I do wish we could have drawn this out a little more.” With my unicorn magic, rather than my staff, I conjured a cone of force and blew him off his feet.

“Sorry, but this part is really going to suck for you.” I pointed my staff at him once more. “Block the fourth wall.” His writer would write on, oblivious to the reality he had created, which I had just severed from his story.

“Loss of power.” The man staggered, and looked up at me. “Your suit's shields are disabled because of convenient grenade shrapnel that penetrated your power supply. It also disabled some of your leg servos, so your armor is also hindering your mobility.” He looked down. At the holes in his armor that weren't there a second ago.

“Traumatic event.” He fell to his knees.  “You're AI friend couldn't take the new information about this world. It defied the laws of reality that she was programmed to think by. After watching the magic and creatures of this planet, she literally thought herself to death. But come on, it's inevitable with her generation of AI, so you knew it would happen eventually.” His hands balled into fists, and he charged at me again, screaming in rage. Not so quiet anymore, I guess.

“Dramatic convenience” He slipped on a stone, but his super-human reflexes had him crossing the distance between us in the blink of an eye. Too long of a blink, though.

“The hero falls.” He stopped, shuddered, and died. I tilted my sword, which I had moved between us when he slipped, and his body slid off. Funny how plot convenience works. My sword should never have penetrated his armor realistically.

It was cruel, I admit, to heap so much indignity on him in his last moments, but creating a story and accelerating it is the fastest way to end these duels. Imagine why I didn't want to do it right away. I turned to the body lying on the ground. “Your story will go on, in another world. But not here. This world must remain true. Canon will be preserved, or I will die defending it.”

“Retcon” The body, and any evidence of the fight, disappeared, as if it had never happened.

With that, I left and headed back towards Ponyville. One doesn't keep the Grandmaster waiting. She really is a different pony when it comes to Order business.

You may ask, what am I? Who am I? Well, to the ponies of Ponyville, I am no one important, and never will be. I am Blank Page, a unicorn who writes sometimes, and tends to keep to himself. To the Librarians, I am Janus, of the Ponyville/Everfree Sector. To anyone threatening the Stability of my Sector, I'm the living manifestation of the apocalypse with a kickass walking stick.

However, Celestia only knows I hate patrolling the Everfree. You'd probably think I waltz through it like a manticore fighting hoof-to-hoof with... well, a pony, but powers over the story don't work against something that's not in a bleedin' story. If I tried to fight a manticore, it would literally be a manticore going hoof-to-hoof with a pony. 's why I carry a blade usually. Almost makes you wish somebody -yes, somebody, I know you're out there- would write a story starring a hydra. Then I could take it down without blinking and feel really damned badass while doing so...

Scratch that. All you damned humans with your damned 'fanfics'... stop. Just stop. You're killing me here. I could have a normal job with normal friends, but instead, I get to gallop around killing off your OCs, resetting your shipping, your violence, all of it.  Don't even get me started about that time you tried to have Equestria and Zebrica nuke each other into the actual apocalypse. With healing magic. All of this so you can write your cute little stories about us without actually wrecking us. Without the Order, there would be entire multiverses full of Equestrias growing more and more twisted over time.  You probably don't even realize what you're doing either. So. Just. Stop.

Author's Note: Don't actually stop. That would free up way too much of my time and I'd have to find something else to do all day. yech.

Back on the Story:

Huh, this was a little dark. I suppose I lean towards that a little. But it's not going to be a grimdark story. Due to the nature of the story I'm going for, I'm probably going to dabble in a few genres throughout this, so it'll be a learning experience. With murder. And shameless crossovers.

This is my second story, with my first one spiraling out of control(from my POV) after I raced along, making chapters without thinking enough about the actual storyline. So I'm going to give it another go, a bit slower this time.

Funny story, the name of this story changed four times between putting this up here, and submitting it, and the main character changed twice[three times] (the point of view completely changed each time as well). I could write for several characters, but it would get weird[for me], I think. Mostly they had highly different objectives, and would pretty much be seperate stories that happened to connect at certain points.[may happen anyway, we'll see]

Also: This is an introduction to my story. It doesn't include any storyline signifigance beyond some concepts/ideas(that are subject to change). Ch.1 and beyond will be following the same Idea, but I figured I put this out to test the waters, see what ya'll bronies thought of the idea.
