A drought is coming.
Rainbow dash finds some odd dwarf Alicorns flying around when she tries to reach for the highest clouds in Equestria. They look oddly similar to Luna and Celestia. Rainbow dash gets into a conversation with them. When they offer Rainbow Dash more powers, things will never be the same again. The fate of Equestria is in the hooves of a new chosen one as a legend starts all over again, yet worse. And the chosen one is exactly the one who was the origin of the legend; Princess Luna.

Day 21, Year X, Canterlot Ruins Dungeons
‘It was that day when everything turned black. The world was shrouded in an eternal drought, and I couldn’t stand up to her. It was like a terrible nightmare. And I, the princess of the night couldn’t break free out of the cell she trapped me in. It’s the same story all over again, but now the roles are reversed. That attack that she sent at me… I can’t remember much about it, but I know she did knock me out in one single blow. Are my powers still that weak…?’
When Luna stopped writing using her unicorn powers, a painful shock went through her. She saw a vision of the eyes of Nightmare moon, shooting a beam right at her, consuming Luna in a cloud of blue smoke. ‘Stop it!’ Luna yelled, as she tried to break out of her daydream. ‘I know you’re behind this! I won’t give in that easy again!’ She muttered as she tried to stand up again. ‘And what’s worse… I know she’s not alone. She has six helpers, and I need to find a way that makes me stand up to them and stop them from making Equestria a living hell.’
Luna stood up, and walked towards the cell door. Focusing all her power on the gigantic enchanted lock, she tried to break the curse that was cast on it. After 15 minutes, Luna backed down exhausted as the lock fell down on the floor. There was no one around, so they couldn’t hear the loud noise it made. ‘It’s not completely a good thing that Canterlot is deserted and a complete ruin, but at least the fact that there is no one around except me will help me to escape from this wicked place’, she said while trying to get herself back togheter.
‘I’m coming for you sister… No… Solar Mare!’

‘Umm… Rainbow Dash? Are you sure you want to… Um… Do that trick? I don’t know if you can make it.’ The yellow pony with the beautiful pink mane said. ‘Are you dumb Fluttershy? Of course I can! I’m not called Rainbow Dash for nothing. Besides, if I can pull off a Sonic Rainboom, this won’t be a problem at all.’ Rainbow Dash said. Fluttershy looked down to the ground, tapped the point of her hoof a bit on the ground and blushed. ‘Umm… Ok then, if you say so…’
Rainbow Dash flapped her wings a few times and flew into the air on top speed, when Pinkie Pie and Rarity walked towards Fluttershy. ‘Hiya Fluttershy! What is Rainbow doing?’ Pinkie asked.
‘Oh, hi girls! Rainbow is going to search for the highest cloud in the entire country. She recently found a book in Twilight’s library that caught her eye. It’s a book about Equestrian mythology, and she read about small creatures that live above the clouds, but they can only be seen by people who represent a kind of ability. Of course she thought that the ability mentioned in the book had to do with something physical, like flying, so she’s going to check out if it’s real. However, I don’t think this myth is true, and since the level of oxygen high in the sky is really low, I don’t think she can reach that cloud. Going into a low-oxygen area while flying costs a lot of energy, so it’s possible that she can pass out while flying towards it. I warned her, but she didn’t listen and kept on saying that she can do this with ease.’
‘Oh my, as stubborn as usual I see?’ Rarity sighed. ‘That girl never knows when she needs to stop, doesn’t she?’ ‘Yeah, I guess so. But MAN look at her go! She’s flying around like crazy! She’s in top condition it seems, and if she keeps on flying like that she might actually reach the cloud! …But, where is that cloud actually?’ Pinkie said. ‘She’s searching for it right no--’ ‘FLUTTERSHY! I FOUND IT! IT’S ABOVE THE EVERFREE FOREST!’ Dashie’s voice came from afar. A cyan dot at the horizon flew around the same spot a few times and came back after that. ‘Rainbow, darling! Are you crazy? You can’t go there! It’s almost certain that some crazy sky creature will try to get you!’
‘Pfft, I don’t care. I’ll just kick ‘em hard, and then I’ll fly towards it.’ Rainbow Dash bragged. ‘It’s not like he can beat me anyways!’ Rarity, Pinkie and Fluttershy looked at her, doubting that she can. ‘…What? Oh whatever, I’ll just prove it to you!’ Dash flew up and away, towards the Everfree forest. ‘I hope she’ll be ok…’ Pinkie sighed. ‘Oh well, it’s still Dash where we’re talking about. I do not completely doubt her skills.’
As Dash gained speed while flying towards the Everfree forest, she flew upwards, when she suddenly got exhausted. ‘Huff… Fluttershy was right. There is almost no oxygen here, and as it seems right now, I can’t possibly reach that cloud… But maybe if…’
As she flew past Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack looked at Rainbow flying by. ‘What in tarnation is she up to now? Wait a second… Is she trying to pull off a Sonic Rainboom on command again? She can’t do that, and she knows that way too well… Huh?! It’s actually…!?’ ‘Here… I… GO!’ Rainbow dash dove towards the ground. With her lips blown backwards, and her hooves right in front of her, she felt electricity surrounding her. ‘It’s… IT’S WORKING!’ Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie ran towards Applejack. ‘Hi sugarcubes, what is she doing up there? Do any of you what Rainbow’s trying to do?!’ ‘Applejack, darling! We’ve been trying to follow Rainbow Dash! She’s trying to reach that cloud high up in the sky there. It’s the highest cloud in all of Equestria! She’s been obsessed with a myth and wants to test if it’s true or not.’ Rarity said. ‘Ah, I see--’ A loud noise and some trembling stopped the ponies from talking.
A huge rainbow filled the skies; The Sonic Rainboom worked, and the mares saw Dash flying high into the sky with immense speed, looking like she’s not tired at all. A rainbow followed Dash while she flew up, reaching for the clouds. ‘Almost..!’ The girls gasped, as Fluttershy dropped her mouth. ‘She’s actually getting there!’ And as she said that, Rainbow Dash landed on the cloud with a loud thump.
‘HEY! LOOK OVER HERE! I ACTUALLY MADE IT!’ She screamed. Pinkie got a big smile on her face, and Rarity and Applejack looked at her, still not believing what they saw. ‘You… YOU DO KNOW WHAT YOU JUST PULLED OFF, DIDN’T YOU?’ Fluttershy yelled towards Rainbow Dash. ‘Umm… WHAT?’ ‘YOU PERFORMED A SONIC RAINBOOM ON COMMAND!’ ‘..OH YEAH! I DID THAT TOO! Wait… WHAT?! I DID?! I FINALLY DID IT--’ and when she wanted to celebrate it, she saw something from the corner of her eye that caught her attention. ‘Oh my, it seems like you reached this place. It’s very unusual to see a Pegasus up here. I think the last time was umm… A thousand years ago?’
