The story of the true origins of the apple family, of the first Apple and how he came to live in Old Ponyville many, many generations before his descendants would return and revive the town. Princes Celestia regales us with the tales of the myriad adventures of the first pony to take on the family name of Apple. Including the tale of how she and Luna first encountered him. That's a little spoiler for chapter two ;)
