Life as a Wingless Wonderbolt

Chapter 1: Crash Landing

Crash Landing

You know, being a Wonderbolt is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Well, besides getting my cutie mark. It's my special talent that got me into the Wonderbolts. I'm the main pony on ever poster. You shouldn't be surprised though. You see, I'm not your average pegasus. I'm not a pegasus at all. My name is Cloud Hopper Dash, and I'm the first unicorn to join the Wonderbolts. Today is an important day, because we Wonderbolts performing for the Princesses at the Summer Sun Celebration. Right now, I'm practicing my triple cloud rain burst, accented by Spitfire's signature move, her Sonic Sunburst. In which, will create the most beautiful rainbow arching over the sun. I'm trying to master my twisted summersaults, but it's not coming so smoothly. As I landed painfully on the ground, I heard a giggle from Fleetfoot.

"You know, I'm starting to think that your an earth pony in disguise. You keep hugging the ground today." the pegasus mare joked. I grumbled in reply, turning away to feign anger. I've had a pretty big crush on Fleetfoot for a while now. She's funny, kind, and just the best mare I could ever dream to meet. Gingerly ruffling my rainbow mane, inherited from my mother, Rainbow Dash, she helps me up. I was enamoured with the blue pegasus. I loved it all. Her personality, her white mane, and even the small detail that she was a few years older than me.

"Hey, how about we practice? I know Spitfire will be the one to do the final cut, but it'll do me some good. I've always wanted to see your Airborne Strike." I asked, smiling ridiculously wide like Auntie Pinkie.

"Sure! Let's get started!" she replies, taking into the cloudy sky. Casting a simple jump higher spell, I easily kept to a cloud 100 feet up. Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I nodded for Fleetfoot to start her Airborne Strike. When she was halfway down, I began jumping, twisting, and contorting my body to shape the clouds. Just as the racing began to pour down, a burst of white-blue caught my eye. Fleetfoot's Airborne Strike has only been seen twice. I'm pretty sure this was the second time. And the last. I watched in horror as the mare of my dreams crashed into the ground. I quickly fell back down to earth, galloping towards the crater that Fleetfoot had created. Her blue body looked broken and bruised, just lying on the ground.

"What happened?" asked Spitfire, rounding the corner into our disaster zone. I didn't even look in her direction, as I gingerly lifted Fleetfoot into the air. When I did turn around, Spitfire's face was one of mixed shock and anger. She didn't sat a word as she opened up her phone and called 911.

Once we were in a hospital and Fleetfoot was being taken care of, Spitfire lead me outside. As soon as we were outside, her hoof connected with my face. I let my face snap to the side. The best thing to do when Spitfire gets angry is to just stand there and take it. She beat on my face a little, then she stood back, shaking. Her fiery mane looked like it had seen better days. She wasn't looking at me any more, but at her own hooves

"How could you let her do an Airborne Strike! She had injured her wings in an accident only a week ago!" she said, tears pouring out of her eyes. I felt terrible. I hadn't know that she was injured. Now she may never fly again. I felt like crying. Fleetfoot, who I had admired from afar, was now in danger of losing her very identity as a pegasus. I walked back into the hospital, and I'm pretty sure I heard Spitfire fly off to Celestia knows where. When I reached Fleetfoot's room, I was first stopped by Soarin.

"Hey kid, before you go in there, I got something I need to tell you." he said sadly, pulling me off to the side. "Fleety won't be able to fly for a while. She'll definitely be grounded for a few months. She won't be able to be in the Summer Sun Celebration. You'll need to get your mom as a replacement. Now go ahead and comfort that beautiful blue made we all know you love." I was honestly pretty shocked. I though I kept my feelings for Fleetfoot a perfectly hidden secret. I guess not. I entered her room, expecting the worst. I was pleasantly  surprised to find her in a simple wing cast with an IV in her front leg. She looked up as I entered, and she smiled as I sat in the chair next to her.

"How do you feel?" I asked, my single white hoof brushing my rainbow mane out of my eyes.

"I'm fine. Actually, I think I might feel better than you do." she said, mimicking me by brushing her pale mane from the back of her neck. I smiled at her, relieved that she wasn't angry with me.

"Well..... I don't know what to say." I replied. I was out of things to say to her. Even though she was my teammate, I really didn't know her that well. I was too afraid to talk to her. I mean, I'm definitely not my dad, who is literally the Prince of Love. I can't talk to girls, at all. I wish I could ask him for advice, but since he's always in Canterlot or the Crystal Kingdom, I can't. I have shows everywhere from Fillydelphia to Manehatten.  So as I was about to leave the room, Fleetfoot stopped me.

"I need to ask you something before you go." the blue pegasus asked. I nodded to show I was listening. She looked kinda nervous to me. "Will you go on a date with me?" My face must have gone through three different phases: confusion, shock, then happiness.

"What time do you want me to pick you up?"
