Chapter 36: Chapter 36- Battles

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

It was loud.

Bluntly put, but it was true.
The fields were erupting with sound of metal clashing, screams and shouts. Howls of pain and agony flowed around as blood was spilled onto the grass. Caramel feathers fluttering to the ground as the owners fought against the horrifying sight before them.

"What the hell is that?!"

"What are they?!"

"They're monsters!!"

"RUN FOR IT!!"

A couple of ponies stood upon a hill near the battle grounds, watching as more blood was spilled. However, it was not pony blood for once. They watched mesmerised by the scene in front of them. Entranced by the events unravelling before them. Staring as mists of black leapt up and swiftly slaughtered the griffins. Their blood splashing onto the ground and glowing among the emerald green blades of grass.

"Incredible." A bronze stallion muttered, his eyes glued on the ponies of dark blue, orange, white, royal blue, scarlet and light blue. Staring as they turned into intimidating black figures that flowed through the crowd of griffins, slaughtering them ruthlessly.

"I know." A golden unicorn mumbled, breath-taken. And slightly scared by the shadow ponies, seeing them obliterate the army of griffins. He wondered what would have happened if the shadow ponies were used against Equestria. He shuddered at the thought. Clearly, that was not a good thing to think about. Besides, the shadow ponies seemed nice enough. And they are fighting for Equestria.

"So.....Equestria had this secret weapon all along? And they never used them before?" An ice blue stallion asked, turning to his wife, who also seemed mesmerised by the battle.

"Well, kinda. The Shadow Ponies.....well.....let's say, they're a delicate species." Rainbow Dash struggled to think, over-tired from earlier. Their plan to divert the griffins' attention worked without a hitch, and Solitaire seemed pretty happy about it.
After all, she was leading the attack. Rainbow remembered watching as the scarlet mare stood before the leader of the griffin attack. He simply laughed at her. Yet, his laughter was cut short as the shadows on each side of the black winged mare rose up, revealing several figures of ponies. The griffins watched in shock, before the leader demanded answers.
He received his answers.....but not in a pretty way.

"Delicate? Dashie! Are you watching the same thing as us?"

"Of course I am. No, I didn't mean physically delicate....I kinda mean.....mentally...." Rainbow lightly said, trying not to sound too offensive.

"I believe, I may see your point, Miss Dashery." Stormbringer nodded, a hoof held up to his chin as he went into deep thought.

"From the information both you and Princess Celestia have given us, I can see by want you mean." The golden maned stallion stated. Solar turned away and continued to watch the battle scene. Just as the deep red mare flew into the sky, just above the griffins, before laughing manically and diving down. Turning into a black mist and causing a foutain of blood to appear.

"I don't get want you mean. How can the Shadow Ponies seem delicate? They seem like a pretty....strong....species..."

"No. I don't believe they are. Their confusion and mental pressure is covered over by their ability to fight. You see, they were originally created by Nightmare Moon. To fight for her should a war break out. They were born into Equestria with only the of knowledge fighting. With only the figure of Nightmare Moon to look up to. However, when she banished to the moon, they lost that supportive figure. If you remember, the others, including Miss Solitaire Blade, called Nightmare Moon mother."

"But, she also called Princess Luna mother." Rainbow interrupted.

"Indeed. Miss Blade is a different case. The others, however, they were led into a completely different world. They all had to go into hiding. Being killed off by the Royal Guard as Celestia feared them as dangerous. However, without a leader, they were vulnerable."

"I see. So, the remaining Shadow Ponies watched their own die?" Soarin nodded, finally understanding.

"Yeah. As Solitaire said, she took upon the role of leader again. She was the leader of the Shadow Army anyway, but re-took the role fearing for her siblings. They're all one big family if you put it simply. They're brothers and sisters." Rainbow continued.

"That sounds pretty cute actually."

"Totally, cute when they're out there murdering." Solar Flare muttered.

"We'll hear their story later, Solitaire will probably crack sooner or later, but Soarin and I must go to Canterlot." Rainbow began to trot away, followed by Soarin. The two of them began to outstretch their wings and began to hover as they worked their feathery limbs.

"Yes, yes, of course. We'll stay though. Just in case."

"Okay. Good luck." Dash called out as they both flew off, glancing back at the battle scene. She then gazed at her lover who was swaying along with the wind. She smiled gently and swayed along side of him. The two pegasi flew around each other, like they once used to before the tragic events of the wedding. They laughed and giggled as they fluttered around.

"Oh, Dashie. I missed this. I missed this so much." Soarin chuckled as bumped into the cyan mare, who squeaked in surprise and nudged him back. The two had flown a reasonable distance, but were still far from Canterlot.

"So did I, Soar.....I'm sorry. About earlier. About the whole....wedding incident...I was wrong...In the wrong frame of mind...I-" She croaked.

"Dashie." Soarin hushed, picking up the prismatic mare's hoof. But, she kept her down. Her hood hanging over her face. Soarin slowly flicked the hood back, and brushed the scruffy rainbow mane until it settled. He gently moved her head up with his hoof, and with a smile, he gazed into her eyes. Those dazzling rose gems that he fell in love with in the first place. Those eyes that held a flame of all-sorts behind them.
"You have nothing to be sorry about."

"But I-"

"No. The only thing you should be apologising for is denying me my kiss." Soarin smirked.

"Wait, what ki-" Rainbow's words were quickly cut short as the stallion placed his lips upon hers. Rainbow stared at the pegasus beside her, and gave in. Happily wrapping her fore-leg around his neck. Continuing to kiss him passionately as they glided through the soft, cool air.

Author's Notes:

Herp-a-derp! I'm back!
My allergies are gone (Flippin finally!!), my Portal game is finished, my animes are done, and now, this chapter is out!!

This chapter bugged me as I had no idea what to do. So, I did another filler.
There will be more Soarin-Dash in later chapters, after the war and stuff.

Also, here's a hint. Two characters are going to die. Good or bad? I can't say.
That's all. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Next chapter, Luna's plan goes wrong and Twilight gets angry. CHAOS ENSURED!!

Thank you for reading, and comment below.

Also, as I have mentioned to Storm Chaser on my user page, Rainbow Dash is no longer my favourite. (Rarity, Celestia and Discord for the win!) Thus, writing her is becoming more of a struggle. So, please bear with me. It will take longer for chapters, but I'll try my very best! :pinkiehappy:
Thank you!!
