To Love Another Filly
Chapter 2: Chapter 1 --- The Filly Assignment Project (Remastered)
Previous ChapterCelestia's afternoon sun beamed it's bright and glorious rays onto the green, living land of Equestria. Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom were resting happily at their tree-house. The air was fitting windy, chilly and refreshing, perfect for such a break.
Applebloom was reading 'The Big History Book Of Festive Events. Hearts and Hooves, Winter Warp Up, The Summer Sun Celebration and much more." She had 'borrowed' the book from Twilight since Heart and Hooves day and simply could not stop reading. There is much depth to the many festive celebrations and other miscellaneous content. It had made her feel ignorant for not knowing as much before. It was all too interesting for her curious mind to stop.
Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo were instead both idling at the club-table, bored out of their minds. Sweetie Belle was thinking of what else the crusaders could do to try and earn their Cutie Marks. She had an idea that maybe their special talent was in video games, one of the few activities they have yet to try. She would have suggested it if she wasn't dead tired from a long day of gardening which left a muddy hole in front of the tree-house. All she really wanted to do than was to take a short nap.
Scootaloo was, however, just admiring her friend's fine figure. She felt her heart beat faster and her stomach giggling. She could never really understood why she felt this way around Sweetie Belle. It was a feel that made her want to hold hooves with Sweetie Belle or rub her own face with her own. It was the feel of love. Scootaloo had hid this feel for ages, afraid to be called a 'weirdo' or 'freak' by her friends. She thought that she would get picked on and Sweetie Belle would no longer be her friend if she confesses. She has only heard of Colt on Filly and Filly on Colt, nothing else. She always assumed something was wrong with her or her 'love-senses' as she liked to acknowledge them.
She not only liked Sweetie Belle's vibrant eyes, cute checks and fine mane, she also liked her kind, gentle and yet silly personality.
She was also funny at certain times, where Scoot would sometimes giggle secretly where nopony else would.
Her voice was also very beautiful.
Scootaloo never really knew how to explain her affection further, the feel was just there.
She could not resist it here. Sweetie Belle looked more beautiful and cute than ever, resting her head sideways as her eyes closed and her lips formed a fine smile. The two were alone, idling. Applebloom was stuck in the past, she probably won't even notice a fire in the club house.
Scootaloo bravely took a seat right next to Sweetie Belle than, taking up a lot of courage, began to talk, softly, hoping not to distract Applebloom.
"Hey... I ...I...got...something to con...con...con...fess to you Sweetie Belle..." she said, nervous despite her self promise to be brave.
"Yes?" Sweetie Belle said, turning away from her rest and focusing her attention to Scootaloo. A little spooked by Scootaloo's suddenness.
"Well...I think I..." Scootaloo continued, embarrassingly.
"You are creeping me out Scootaloo..." Sweetie Belle said with an obvious sight of discomfort. Scootaloo was hiding her feelings for months so well just to let them spill today.
Scootaloo had to think of a way to bail out.
"Oh...sorry Sweetie I was just...eh...practicing how to ask..." Scootaloo had to think of a colt, "Snails, yes, Snails... I was practicing how to confess my love for Snails. I know it sounds silly, I absolutely do not like you because fillies cannot like other fillies and...yea..."
"Snails? I can understand you practicing romance...Rarity does it all the time in front of a mirror but Snails?" Sweetie Belle asked, a little more relieved than before but just as confused. "I didn't think he was your type. And why are you practicing it on me?"
"Yes...I like how he is a far off thinker," Scoot lied, directing her irises away from Sweetie's due to anxiety. She was also trying to stair the conversation away from 'Why are you practicing on me' to 'Why Snails'.
Sweetie Belle was just about to say something when Applebloom's voice interrupted her. The two fillies had temporary forgotten her existence before. "Com' On, there's mor' to it. Tell us." Applebloom had unintentionally stirred Scootaloo's topic to the 'better' direction. Scootaloo had to take great advantage of this.
"Erm..." Scootaloo tried to remember as much about Snails as she could and slowly regretted picking his name. She than remembered that Snails attended the short-lived Rainbow Dash fan-club. "Well... he is a big fan of Rainbow Dash as well," said Scootaloo.
Sweetie Belle concluded that Scootaloo is telling the truth, she did not really pay much attention to Snails so Scootaloo may actually like him. Little did she know that Scootaloo's real crush was actually her. Sweetie also thinks Rarity genuinely likes Spike despite the truth being very obvious.
Applebloom had her doubts. The filly had only observed the last twenty percent of the practice and she feels like something is fishy. Snails shows great signs of retardation and absolutely no interest in fillies. Scootaloo was also never around him. She knew that Scootaloo would want a colt that is much smarter and charming than him and realized that this might not be the truth.
Applebloom was about to interrogate Scootaloo further when suddenly the club house door flanged opened. She looked towards it's direction to make eye contact her sister, Applejack, and Twilight Sparkle. Her sister looking very angry and her shouting confirmed that theory.
"Applebloom! Twili' Says that you stole a library book. Is this true?" yelled Applejack loudly, staring eye to eye with her sister. Applebloom had thought of lying her way to keeping the book more but figured that Twilight might have some magic spell that would reveal it. She always seemed to have the convenient spell for any scenario.
"Ye...Yes. I will return it to you...Twili'," said Applebloom, fearing the consequences that she might have to face and the explained she will have to do. Applebloom turned around to get the book to find Scootaloo already mouth-carrying the book and walking, slowly, towards the librarian. Appleboom was not looking forward to explain that her brother, Big Mac, and Cheerliee are together to Applejack, who is still unaware. Applebloom than remembered that Applejack was oddly no where to be found during Heart and Hooves. Where was she?
"I'm terribly sorry Twili'," Applejack apologized. "So, how will th' girls be punished?"
"Well...I didn't really think of a punishment. I could fine the girls...but I supposed they could help tidy up the library instead. Spike's at Rarity's. I think only one would be necessary though," Twilight answered.
Scootaloo raised her hoof high up, she wanted to get some where away from her two friends after that awkward moment to think and Twilight's arrival was the perfect excuse. "I will do it!" she shouted.
"Okay then. Just follow me to the Library," Twilight instructed as she walked out. Scootaloo followed behind her.
"I really like' that book..." Applebloom grumbled to herself as she watched Twilight and Scootaloo walk out. She than noticed that her big sister was still inside the club house, looking crossed.
"You got som' explainin' to do. You also got to explain the hole outside," Applejack demanded.
---
Scootaloo and Twilight had quietly walked back from Sweet Apple Acres to the library, not saying a word to each other. Scootaloo was too focused on her crushed crush to really strike a conversation. Twilight seemed to have her horn lit up the whole journey. She was actually using her unicorn magic to listen to some fine music through the relaxing and breezy air.
They arrived quickly at the library, which was already very neat. Scootaloo breathed and sigh of relief when she realized that she would not have to do too much work.
"Okay Scootaloo, just stack the 'RETURNED' books back to where they belong. Sort them by genre and than alphabetically, it's simplified compared to other libraries," Twilight instructed, pointing a hoof to a tray of books, as she picked up a book telepathically and started to read.
Scootaloo did as told. She headed straight to the tray, containing about fifty books at most. She took a look at the end labels of each book where Twilight had already neatly marked the genre. She has probably done it for all the library books since she moved to Ponyville allowing the whole collection checked, recorded and labeled.
The first section Scootaloo decided to return the books to was the 'Adventure' genre. It was the nearest to her and about 70% of the books in the tray were Adventure. She simply stacked them all back with no problems.
The next genre was 'Romance' and that hit her, badly in the heart. She was reminded of her love, the rejection she had been trying hard to forget. The pony that she really wants to be with but can't because she was born the wrong gender. Maybe she wasn't born the wrong gender, maybe she had a problem in the head that made her like fillies. Might have been caused by the amount of crashes she made on her Scooter or it could've the crusaders made trying to earn their mark.
Scootaloo started tearing despite her best effort to hold it back, she was reminded of how she would never be with Sweetie Belle and is instead 'cursed' by her own carelessness to be with Snails. The sadness eventually adsorbed her causing her to face the floor and close her eyes, hoping for all this to go away.
Twilight noticed and started to be concerned about her. She placed the book down and asked Scootaloo what's the problem.
Scootaloo didn't really know whether to tell Twilight or to lie. She closed her eyes tighter and soon curled up in a ball onto the floor. The more Twilight asked, the more Scootaloo gets reminded of her fail until she eventually started to cry softly but audibly.
She soon decided that maybe it would be better to tell Twilight.
"Erm, Twilight...-sob-...it's just...you promise not tell anypony else?"
Twilight was relived that Scootaloo was going to cry out her problem, allowing her to help Scootaloo (and maybe get a friendship report in return). She told Scootaloo that she promised not to tell.
"Well...I...like Sweetie Belle...like...'like'...like-" Scootaloo said but stopped and started crying even louder. Twilight has inferred that Scootaloo meant that she is romantically affected to Sweetie Belle.
"Have you tried telling her? Maybe she feels the same way?" Twilight suggested although in reality she was also unsure on what to do.
"She rejected me..." Scoot confessed, though only half the truth (she bailed out, remember?). "If only I was a handsome colt." Scootaloo suddenly got an idea, an idea that might work well. "Hey Twilight, you are good with magic...could you like...temporary make me a colt or something?"
Twilight was than deeply fascinated by the idea of a gender changing spell, overcoming her pity for Scootaloo's rejection. She had never heard of any successful attempts at such a spell though, and had to disappoint Scootaloo but the idea of a mere at least looking like a stallion and dating another one was too interesting to really give up especially for an experiment.
"Not really but I think I know how you could disguise as one," Twilight suggested. Scootaloo was curious to what Twilight had in mind and decided to hear what she has to say.
"I could change your coat and mane colour. Tweak your facial features, give you a different voice and dress you in some clothing to make you look like a colt but I cannot fully change you." Twilight explained her idea as she walks towards her bed/study area, Scootaloo following behind, agreeing with the idea.
Twilight pointed towards her bed and asked Scootaloo to wait for her. Scootaloo sat down and felt so relaxed and comfortable waiting in Twilight's bed. All her worries seem to have floated away. She had even fallen asleep.
She was awoken by some shaking and Twilight's voice, calling him to wake up similar to how her mother would before school.
Scootaloo opened her eyes to see a pile of messily dumped clothing next to Twilight. All of them were stereotypical colt clothing like baseball caps and leather jackets. This seemed too good to be true for Scootaloo though.
"Hey, Twilight, I was just wondering: why are you helping me?" Scootaloo asked. It was a surprise that she didn't ask earlier.
"Friends help each other. Besides, this will make a really good psychology experiment/analysis for Celestia, " Twilight explained.
"What about the library book and my punishment?" Scootaloo asked curious as to why Twilight would help her and even allowed her to take a short nap.
"That's not really a library book, it's my own. I am just glad that your friends and you are picking up reading quickly. Just remember not to steal anymore. Imagine if it was a library book, " said Twilight, remembering Rainbow Dash's sudden new-fond hobby of reading.
Scootaloo wanted to mention Applebloom's joy for the book but decided against it as she wants to see what Twilight has in mind for her as quick as possible.
"So, what's the plan?" asked Scootaloo, rising an eyebrow.
Twilight started to explain her plan in the briefest way possible hoping not to confuse Scootaloo.
"I'll simply change your coat and mane colour, lower your voice to be more boyish, tweak your facial construction a little and get you to wear boy clothing. All this as a temporary spell that will last five hours each time it's applied but can end prematurely by the one who cast the spell."
Scootaloo understood exactly what Twilight said, making her more and more excited to try this spell, especially how it was a temporary spell that could be applied anytime. She insisted Twilight to test the spell right there, right than.
Twilight's unicorn lit up very brightly as Scootaloo felt a little tingle through her whole skin. She watched her coat change color, from it's usual orange orange to a light blue. She also felt pain, like claws stretching, in her throat. Twilight's horn soon stopped glowing, about 10 seconds after the spell.
"How do you feel?" asked Twilight eagerly.
"Well," said Scootaloo, acknowledging her new voice and still feeling the pain in her throat. "It hurts and... I sound too deep. I thought you said I am going to disguise as a colt and not a stallion?"
"Hold on, let me change your pitch a little, " said Twilight, lighting her horn again and closing her eyes in concentration to the spell.
Scootaloo felt the insane pain in her throat again but this time lasting much much shorter. She let out a scream because of this, which allowed Twilight to adjust her voice to a perfect, low pitch, colt-like one.
"Owch! Will it hurt everytime? I sound cool now but will it?" Scootaloo said, angrily as she was not informed of the pain.
"No. Your voice has been configured so the next time I cast the spell you shouldn't feel anything in your throat. I changed the settings of the peripheral axons near your vocal folds to shut down whenever I cast the spell, therefore allowing lack of pain," Twilight explained.
Scootaloo could only understand the word vocal but judging by Twilight's seriousness and tone, Scootaloo figured that Twilight knew exactly what she was talking about. She took a look at the pile of clothing next, looking for something neat to wear.
There were leather jackets, striped shirts, baseball caps and all sorts of clothing that looked something out of a costume shop. "Why does Twilight keep these?" Scootaloo asked herself as she digs through the pile, looking for something good to wear.
Eventually she picked a good pair of black jeans, the only outfit there that a normal colt would wear everyday, that would cover her lower bodies and four legs. It was designed to reveal the wearer's cutie mark which Scootaloo does not have so it reveals a blank flank instead.
"So, how do I look Twilight?" Scootaloo questioned. Her new voice, look and clothing made her look like a completely different fi- colt.
"You look great actually. Do you want to go outside with the look or do you want to change back?" Twilight asked, smiling at her successful spell attempt. A mirror floated in front of Scootaloo, carried by Twilight's magic.
In the reflection was a blue coated colt, white maned and dressed in black jeans. Scootaloo puts on the leather jacket to complete the look.
"What about my mane style?" Scootaloo asked, noticing that her mane looks exactly the same expect in a different colour.
Scootaloo's mane was than glowing and styled itself to a tall, straight hair. Twilight had used a spell to style the mane, not as well as how Rarity would have done it but still pretty good.
"Anyways, now it is 4 P.M. Mess around in time and return here at 7 P.M for me to turn off the spell," Twilight instructed strictly.
"Why would I need to return two hours before the spell ends naturally?" Scootaloo asked, puzzled.
"This is the first time I am testing this set of spells actually so...we shouldn't get too risky." Twilight explained.
"Okay!" Scootaloo cheered as she is dismissed. She really wanted to revisit Sweetie Belle hoping that this time, she won't be rejected. She had to take it slow though so the goal is to be a friend first...then climb the ladder.
As Scootaloo hops out of the study/bed area, Twilight took out a notepad and began to write a couple of notes.
"Experiment Details:

"Princess Celestia is going to love this," Twilight said to herself as she writes down the final details of the notes.
