A Very Derpy Christmas

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of year. The presents, and the snow, and the muffins! Mmm... Christmas muffins...

Oh, right, the story! Anyways, I love getting presents on Christmas morning, I really do. But even though I love getting lots of fun stuff, I never get any cards. And that's all I really want. I don't even get one from Dinky or Doctor Hooves! But I can't blame them, they don't have to give me a card. They're family, after all.

Why do I want a Christmas card so badly, you ask? Well, I deliver them every year. And believe me, I deliver more Christmas cards than you think. Usually I deliver my packages or letters personally. (Unless the pony isn't home, of course.) I see the look on their face when they open the envelope and read the card. It's filled with such joy! But when I sort through the letters I deliver, none of them are for Derpy Hooves. And that makes me sad. Until one day. It was only three days before Christmas...

I was at the post office, doing my job, sorting through the letters I needed to deliver. As usual, no cards with my name on it. There were lots of cards for other people, though. I put the letters in order so I could stop at the houses in the most efficient way possible. I was putting them in my bag when I see a strange envelope fall out of my pile. I figured I accidentally skipped it when sorting. But this envelope seemed... different. I took a closer look at it and I didn't recognize the return address. Then I saw where I was supposed to deliver it to.

"The North Pole? To Santa Pony?"

"Just throw it out. Everyone knows Santa Pony doesn't exist," said another pony, who was sorting packages (since that accident with Twilight and the piano, I don't deliver packages anymore).

"What if he does exist?"

"Yeah, you keep thinking that, kid."

Just then I realized that I never gave much thought to wether Santa Pony exists or not. A lot of people say he doesn't, but most of them are meanies, and they could be lying. I decided to find out for myself. I'll take the letter up north, and if he's real, deliver it to him. But what if he wasn't, you ask? Well, I knew the Crystal Empire was up there, and I've never been there before. I could make it a Christmas vacation. Besides, there could be crystal muffins!

After I delivered the rest of the letters, I headed to the train station. Since I obviously can't fly that far, and I don't usually do long-distance delivering I had to take a train. I didn't mind, though. I love trains!

The nearest train station to the Frozen North was the Crystal Empire, so that's where I went. It was amazing! I had never seen anything so shiny! But I didn't have time for shininess. I was on a mission.

I looked behind me. The Crystal Empire was pretty much protected in a big bubble powered by Princes Cadence's magic. Anything beyond that was a blizzard. And boy, one heck of a blizzard it was! I took a deep breath, gulped, and stepped outside into the Frozen North.
