  • Dinner with the Princess (Prolouge)

You sat at the end of a table, staring at food spread out in front of you. On your plate was a salad, filled with lettuce and strips of hay. There was a mug of cider above it to the left. You notice the utensils next to your plate. No knife. No fork. Across from you is Princess Celestia, who is sipping from a mug of her own. You expect it is more cider. To your right is one of the only ponies that you have ever looked up to; your sergeant. They have been quiet the whole time, and it wasn't helping your nerves. As if on cue, the door to the room you are sitting in opens, and a waitress walked into the room, acknowledged you and the others with a nod, and filled up Celestia's cider. That was heard third mug.

"So, I assume you know why you are here?"

The princess' words broke the silence in the room. You looked down at your plate again. There was more silence. Celestia broke it again. "I'm sorry about how everything has been lately, but there is no point in trying to change the past." You notice the way she avoids saying what caused this whole mess. Celestia took another chug of her cider, finishing it all on one sip.

"Because of your service in the guard as Colonel, you have inherited a house, so you don't need to worry about finding one. We have a chariot that will bring you there soon." Even with your head looking towards your plate the whole time, you knew who that was. Your sergeant. He was the one who got to you before you life almost ended.

More silence followed. You mind was carrying many different emotions at the moment. First off, you didn't want to leave the guard. You've been in it almost your entire life, that you may as well say it is your life. Second off, you never want to be in the guard again.

Celestia interrupted his thoughts. "Colonel, I'm sorry that things turned out as they did, but lets face it. We all know that you are never going to be the same. I understand that you want to stay in the guard, but it just won't work anymore. It's time that you settled down and lived life like it should be; with peace and harmony. Not in military service." You replied by hanging your head. No matter how much he had argued at first, she proved a point. You never would be the same again.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You went to your barracks for the last time. You were told to get all of your valuables and such, put it in some carts, and get to the chariot as soon as possible. Your barracks were never regal or whatever. There was a cot, a bathroom, and a table to eat at. You got the latter along with your rank of Colonel.

You walked over to the mirror to see how you looked. You were heading to a new home, and you wanted to make sure you didn't look like crap. When you see your refection, you notice how crappy you look. You white coat has dirt and mud all over it, and your face still gave you a reminder of how depressed you were when you were 'honorably discharged.' Because of that, you would never complete your dream; to get the Medal of Honor.

Ever since you were born you wanted it. Your dad always talked about how when his father was in service, he had gotten one. Eventually, your dad got one, too, but never saw it with his own eyes. He died in combat after saving his squad from certain death by ordering his stallions to run while he distracted the charging enemies. When the stallions got back, they told their leaders, who quickly had a Medal of Honor Ceremony for your dad. The ceremonies were very different when the recipient wasn't there. Your mom got the medal, and wears it to this day in honor of him.

But none of that can happen now. You have just been 'honorably discharged' from the guard, making your goal now impossible to get. When the news was broken to you, you just went to your quarters and wept all night.

But even so, there were more important things at the moment. You had to fix yourself up. First you went to take a shower in the barrack showers. No one else was there, and you quickly washed up and came back. Once there, you had a look at your mane. Yours was blue, and long enough to get to your nose when it was straight and wet. You shook your body to dry off, not caring about the water that got all over your cot, seeing as you would never use it again. You used your horn to fix your hair a bit, even though you never really cared yourself. Once done, you got all of your belongings, mustered all of your strength, and began trotting towards your chariot.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a short trot, and you carried behind you one cart that had every last valuable you had ever had. When you got to your chariot, you saw Princess Celestia waiting for you herself. She nodded at your arrival, and you returned the gesture. You had cooled down on your trot, and lost all anger and such for the princess who made the decision that had ruined your dream. "What are you doing here, Princess?"

"Paying you my farewells. Why else?"

You walk into the chariot, using your magic to bring in your cart. When you get comfortable, you look back at Celestia. "I also wanted to give you some tips on your first visit to Ponyville. As you already know, Ponyville isn't like your average settlements. First off, when you land, I can almost guarantee a pink pony will ask who you are and if you would like a party in honor of your new home. Just agree. If not, she will go into a mental breakdown, and then stalk you until you agree with her. If you try to hide, she will find you."

Confused at this you say, "How?"

"She just will. I don't even know how. So after that, your house is near a giant tree library. Inside of it lives my protege student, Twilight Sparkle. I have already informed her on you coming and she offered to help you around town. She is the town librarian, and very smart. If you have any questions, she would be the one to ask."

You nod at all of this, listening carefully.

Celestia continued. "Well, I have to get going, and so do you. The ride may take a day or two, so I recommend you get in a good moos. bad impressions are never good, and as a former guard, you know that."

You roll your eyes when she references you 'being' a guard, and then thank her for her knowledge. She gives her farewells and trotted away. You feel the chariot you are in rise, and you close your eyes as you take flight. You close your eyes, and await to be awakened in your new home.

Well, I did it, I started a second person story!

If anyone would like to be a pre-reader, just leave it in the comments or send me a message.
I may need one sooner or later, especcialy when I get into writing in slang.
    Adieu!

    G.O.A.
    (Greeted on Arrival)

Some kind of object hits you in the flank. As you open your eyes, you are greeted by sunlight, which your eyes are not accustomed to yet. You cover the sun with your hooves, and put them back down when your eyes are better. You look on the ground of the chariot and see a rock that wasn't there before. You assume that's what hit you. You look towards where the rock came from, and see the two pegasai flying the chariot. One of them calls back, "You awake now, sir?"

You reply, "Yeah, yeah, I'm up."

"That's good to here, sir. We will be arriving in Ponyville very soon. I recommend you fix yourself up before getting there. Wouldn't want all those mares to get a bad impression, if you know what I mean." He added a maniacal smirk after saying that.

You roll your eyes at his comment, but listen to him anyway. You pull out a mirror from your small cart and examine yourself. You look presentable. Even so, you take out your manebrush and give your mane a couple of swipes. Once satisfied, you put them away and look out of the chariot. You see a small town with many ponies walking around, and notice the sky. It was raining around the town, but it looked like there was no rain on the town itself. After more examining, you notice that there is rain to your left and right, but none ahead of you nor behind you. While examining the clouds, you notice that there is a giant line of no clouds you were flying under. How peculiar...

As if the one pegasus was a mind reader, he said, "Isn't it impressive? Ponyville is the only known earth pony village to have it's own weather system. The pegasai control it, giving the town as much rain needed to live, but not too much to annoy everyone. Today was scheduled to rain, but on hearing of your entrance, they gladly cleared a path for us to get here without getting wet."

Wow. This amazes you, and you stare at the sky again with admiration. The sun itself was fully visible through the cleared sky above Ponyville, and it looked very awkward being light during a complete rainstorm.

By the time you are done staring, the pegasai are making their descent. You quickly fix yourself up, and the chariot lands in the center of the town. There were many odd buildings surrounding you. One building seems to be coated in frosting and has the appearance of a gingerbread house. Another was circular and tall, and had a purple and light-blue coloring around it. It had dresses in the windows and two fake ponies were at the tip, going around it like a carousel. The biggest building was tall with two stories, and was surrounded by many small support beams.

Noticing you have been on the ground for a while, and after hereing a certain pegasus hinting you to get off, you grab your cart with your belongings and leave the chariot. As you thank the pegasai for the ride, they neigh in response, and take flight and leave. You look around again and see many ponies staring at you. One, who was pink, was charging you at a very high velocity. Before you can react, she stops next to you without slowing down and sais,
"HellomynameisPinkyPieYournewhereWhatsyournameminesPinkyPieOhwhoopsIalreadytoldyouthisSorryletshaveaparty!OhhdoyoulikepartiesIlikepartiestheyaresofunandIloveitwhenothersenjoythemtoosoIwaswonderingof-" Thankfully, an orange pony cuts her off mid run-on sentence before the author forgets how to properly write again and before you get tired of scrolling off of the page.

"Now, sugarcube, you may wanna slow down. I don't think he, let alone myself, have a clue what you just said.

The pony responded, "Ooohh, well let me repeat myself, then. MynameisPinkyPieyournewhere-"
As she rambles on in some long sentence, you ask the orange pony, "Does she do this to everyone?"

The orange pony nods. "Yeah, she does, but don't take it as an insult. She just likes to get to know everypony. Its all in good heart." You nod in agreement to her. "By the way, Ah'm Applejack, nice to meet ya, sir!" She puts out a hoof for you, and you shake it as you give her your name. You look back at the pink pony, who is still talking.

"-andthenIsaidtohim'HimynamesCommanderPinkyandthisismyfavoritestoreinthecitadel'andthenigotadiscountonmyassaultrifleand-" You attempt to cut off her rambling with a hoof to the mouth, but she continues to talk in a muffled voice. "-andmdenmahkilledmdamreapermthptwithmymoab-"

"Excuse me, ma'am, can you speak slower?" you ask.

"Shoooooore Aaaaaahhhhh ccccaaaaannnnn ssspppeeeaaakkk ssslllooowwweeerr iiifff yyyooouuu wwwaaannn-"

    "Normal speed?"

"Okay, silly, why didn't you say so!" She put out a hoof. "My name is Pinky Pie, nice to meet you!" She makes a giant smile which creeps you out. Even so, you return the gesture and give her your name. "So do you want to have a party?"

"Well, sugarcube, I believe that he was supposed to meet up with Twi' when he came here, and Ah wanted to help him out with that. You can talk to him abaout that 'party' of yours later, okay?"

"Sure thing, Applejack!" And with that Pinky bounced away quickly. You stare at her with your mouth open wide.

    You ask, "What was that?"

Applejack stares at Pinky with you. "That, mah friend, is Pinky Pie. You'll understand soon enough. Anyway, you needed to see Twah'light?"

You nod at her. "Yes, I do. DO you know where I could find her?"

    "Yep, just follow me!"

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The trot was short, mainly because the town was very small. She takes you to a giant tree in the middle of some part of town. So far, the layout confused you, just like the fact that the library was in a tree.

She trotted with you to the door, then said, "Well, this here is the library, and Twah'light lives right inside." She tipped her hat, you nod back, and she trots off. While walking away, you here her scream back, "Just so you know, the pegasai are still putting the rain back in town, so I recommend you knock now!" You look at her, and as you do, the rain starts pouring.

    Great.

You knock on the door, and it is quickly opened, and you look up and see no pony. Confused, you just stand there and do nothing. You hear a voice that sounded like a little kid, "Um, are you just gonna stand there, or are you going to get in here already?"

You look down and see a baby dragon. How much weirder can this town get? You nod to the dragon and get inside quick. When you get in, the dragon closes the door behind you, and you wipe your hooves on the carpet. WHen you are done, the dragon screams, "Twilight! Your visitor is here!"

    "One moment!" came the reply.

You stand there with the dragon in an awkward silence. You look down at your hooves and twiddle them around when the dragon spoke up. "Hi. My name's Spike. Nice to meet you!"

You give him your name, and then say, "May I ask why a dragon like you is living in a tree-library with ponies?"

Spike giggles. "Heh, you make it sound very weird." Possibly because it is! "Twilight came here from Canterlot so she could study friendship." What? "She hatched me from an egg for an exam in Canterlot. Ever since then, I've been like her little brother."

"Okay then..." Is about all you can say.

"You'll get used to it. Ponyville isn't your normal town, if you haven't figured out yet."

    "I can tell..."

At that moment, a lavender unicorn walked down from the stairs and said, "Hello! I assume your the guard Celestia was talking about in the letter?"

You nod in agreement and give her your name. You hold out a hoof to her, which she shakes while giving her name.

"Well, I was originally planning to trot with you around town and show you all the important buildings, but I was only informed of the storm a couple hours ago..." Twilight gave Spike a cold stare.

He rolled his eyes. "Well, maybe if somepony would listen to me when I talk to them instead of reading about astronomy, they might have known."

Twilight gave a weak smile, and you can't help but to let out a laugh. Well, she lives up to her reputation alright.

She continued, "I planned on showing you around today, but since I can't, I'll just show you around the library, and then show you your house."

"Works with me." Twilight walked around the library, showing you all of the different sections of the library, her room, her mini-astronomy, and so on. She ended the tour at a window in her house. There, she pointed him to his house. It was similar to all of the other simple houses in the town. It was small, with two stories, and a large wedge at the top. The only difference was that the door wasn't the same color of the house, it was all white with your cutie mark in the center; a blue shield. "I'll take you to your house now, if you want' Don't worry about the rain, I have a spell that works like an umbrella."

You take her up on her offer, and when you leave, she puts up an impressive magical shield around them as they walk.Maybe I should ask her how to do that later...

You get to the door quickly. Twilight hands you the keys to the door, and you use your magic to open it up. You quickly run inside, and look back at Twilight and you give her a small salute. She nods back and begins to walk away. You close the door quickly to prevent any more rain from getting into your house. Well, that was an interesting welcome party.
