Prologue: Years Earlier

“Celestia! What’s wrong?” Luna yelled.

“She’s dead, Luna!” Luna shivered at the crazed look in Celestia’s eyes.

“Who?”

“She died years ago, Luna,”

“Who’s died?”

“Twilight!”

“I know, that was five hundred years ago!”

“You remember her! She was the element of Magic!”

“Of course, ‘tia,” Luna was unnerved now. There was something wrong with her sister.

“She was the last one who could stop me, Luna!”

“From doing what?”

“I’m growing old, Luna,”

“No you’re-”

“I’m growing old, and I need to be remembered, Luna,”

“You will, but you shan’t die for years yet!”

“I need to make a mark, Luna! I need absolute power!”

“What!?” Luna was ready to run, but Celestia had frozen her. Celestia stalked over to Luna, and reached out a pale hand towards her tanned skin.

“Luna, m’dear sister,” with a triumphant yell, Celestia had managed to tear Luna’s magical medallion from off her neck, ripping away her magical powers, “sister dearest, thanks ever so much for helping,”

Celestia placed Luna’s medallion over her own; which recreated her image in Luna’s form.

Luna was shocked. She took a hesitant step away from her sister, eyes wide and mouth gaping.

“What’s happened to you, ‘tia? What’s-” Celestia just chuckled, turning her back to her sister, raising her hands which were covered in a magical glow. Luna recognised it as her own magic signature.

“Don’t you dare, Celestia, don’t you do this to me again. You’ve done it before- you’ve sent me to the moon before- I’m not leaving this planet. I won’t go, don’t make me. No, Celestia, NO!” Luna screamed, angry and terrified.

“Don’t worry your pretty little head, sister dear. You won’t be too far away this time.”

All that was left of where Luna had stood was a wisp of dust. Celestia’s smile was large and sinister, baring her teeth for all the world to see. And she slit the throats of the guards who had been watching, turning their bodies to ash.
