Only if You Wish to Hear it
The sun began to descend over Equestria, allowing the night’s stars and moon to shine in its place. A white Alicorn stood on the balcony of the north tower gazing up at the night sky. Her long light colored rainbow mane flowed softly as if it was caught in endless wave like motion. In the distance another Alicorn flew above making her way toward the castle. This Alicorn unlike her sister was a dark blue color. Her long dark blue mane and tail flowed behind her as she drew close to the balcony. She landed ever so gracefully and bowed her head in respect to her sister.
“I shall take over from here sister,” she said.
“Luna, have you heard the news?” asked the white Alicorn.
“News?” repeated Luna questionably.
“Yes, it appears that some old acquaintances are near by,” replied her sister. “I received a letter stating that they would be leaving Manehattan to board a train that would take them to Ponyville.”
Luna stood in silence pondering on what friends of theirs could possibly still be alive after a thousand years. For all she knew is that if there were any other Alicorns like the two of them, then surly they would still be alive. Then, as if her sister had read her mind she smiled and said; “Oh, no… these are only a couple descendants of those we once knew.”
“You seem to be making a big deal out of it Celestia,” said Luna.
“Why not,” said Celestia. “They’ve been telling our story to their family for ages.”
“Wait you don’t mean… I thought The Mare in the Moon, and Discord were the only stories you agreed on?” said Luna surprised at this new information.
“We did, but I think that our old friend has made it his goal to tell the whole story to his children. And then they would tell it to theirs and so on…”
“What should we do sister?” asked Luna.
“Eh?” said Celestia.
“Are you seriously considering that they should tell it if they come here?” questioned Luna looking worried.
“Luna…” began Celestia but her sister cut her off.
“I know," Luna spoke up and began pacing. "We’ll just tell everypony that we don’t know them if they start…”
“Luna, I know what it would mean especially to you if they tell it. But things are different now. Everypony forgives you… Especially me. After I realized what that monster must have done to you…”
“No, stop it!" Luna shouted in her most commanding royal voice. "I don’t want to hear anymore!”
“Luna…" Began Celestia as she moved closer to comfort her frightened sister. "For to long we have let the Mare in the Moon and Discord be the shortest ways of summing up our story. I think its time they heard it again… only this time from the beginning.”
Luna didn’t answer. She turned her back to her sister before she could put a wing on her shoulder and stared out into the horizon. Celestia thinking that it would be best to back off to give her little sister time to think, left the tower and headed down the staircase to the main halls below. With each step she took, it felt like she was about to be transported back to a time where she wasn’t always the way her kingdom have seen her. She knew that having their story be told would give the ponies of Canterlot and Equestria a new perspective on their Princesses. The moon shun it’s light down on the city and it’s neighboring town. The light went through the bars of the tower lighting the front half of her as she stood in silence.
“Yes,” she thought to herself. “Let them tell it… But only if they wish to hear it.”
