The Rarest Rainbow Of All
Chapter 1: Chapter One- The Accident
"Soarin'! You're flying like a duck. Move your wings, lazy-flank!" Rainbow Dash shouted playfully to the stallion next to her.
"I wouldn't be talking, Miss I-have-to-move-every-cloud-before-I-go-practicing!" He laughed back, nudging her side slightly in flight.
"You never know! They could be Windigoes in disguise!" She blushed, looking at her Wonderbolts' jersy.
"Seriously? You're just picky! Picky like a chicken! Buk-BUGAWK!"
"Will you two stop it? If you're going to flirt, do it some other time! Keep your eyes on the prize, Soarin'. Rainbow Dash? He can't help it. He hasn't had much food today. Besides, it's all for fun. We don't have to pick up the pace 'till tomorrow, remember?" Spitfire's raspy voice called out. Rainbow Dash had finally made it into the Wonderbolts'. She was always busy, so she didn't talk to her friends much. She had grown accustomed to the tight, airy material of the uniforms, but hadn't to the way it covered up her 'super awesome rainbow-slash cutie mark'. She usually dealt with this just fine, but every week or so, it would nag at the corner of her mind.
"Jeez, Spitfire, Chillax. We were just, like, joking. Shaw." Rainbow snorted, imitating the two catty girls that lived in Ponyville.
After many laps around Rainbow Dash's house, they decided to have dinner at Soarin's favorite coffee shop, The Coffee Corner. It of course served numerous types of pies and the coffee they served was simply divine.
The blue stallion had ordered a gigantic apple pie and a mug of hot chocolate, Spitfire a burning hot cup of espresso, and Rainbow Dash a regular coffee with eight packs of sugar, a dollop of whipped cream covered in chocolate shavings. She gladly took in a big, deep breath of the mixture and lapped up a slight gulp of the creamy, brown liquid. It warmly curled around her tongue and relaxed all of the muscles in her body, starting with her headache. It spiraled down and soothed her aching shoulder and tired wings, tickled her sides as it the warmth twirled town to her stiff thighs, and finally danced on the bottom of her hooves. She smiled brightly and took another sip and let the cycle repeat. The only thing that could make this better, She thought. Is if Maple-Leaf releases the new Daring Do book, Daring do and the Quest for the Emerald Alicorn. That would make this PERFECT. She closed her eyes and let herself drift off into a vivid daydream. She was Daring Do, examining a bejeweled Alicorn statuette. In one quick movement, her hoof shot out and nabbed the emerald carving. A boulder crashed from the ceiling and nearly flattened her.
And that's when she snapped out of her trance. She realized Soarin' had been staring at her, so she blushed and took in a mouthful of her coffee. Her pupils shrunk, and she spit it all out on the unicorn mare next to her. Rainbow Dash had forgotten that when hot, most liquids give off heat.
"I SAY, GOOD LADY! I just had my mane done!" The orange pony shouted, striking a dramatic pose. "Doesn't anypony have proper manners in society today!? My word."
"Omigosh, I'm so sorry! Uh, here lemme-" Her jaw dropped and she raised a hoof to her mouth fearfully. "How in the- How- Wuhbuhubhh... MAPLE LEAF! YOU'RE- Y-YOU'RE THE AUTHOR OF THE DARING DO BOOKS! OMIGOSHI'MYOURNUMBERONEFAN!
